#NAME shows in export to excel

When an export to excel is done in a report some colunms display #NAME. These columns have a '-','*' , etc. as the leading character. Is there a way to have the correct data in the excel report?
Thanks

the 'old fashioned way' is to add a single quote ( ' ) add the start of the string. Excel recognizes this as "this entry is text only" and will not display it.

  • RDL reports(2008).File name after using Export to Excel is not comming properly in mozilla firefox.

    I am using Export to Excel functionality in rdl report.
    File name should be "Profitabilty By Buyer". It is working as expected in IE and chrome.
    But in mozilla firefox the file name appears as "Profitabilty".
    So the issue is it doesnt consider anything after space and user requirement is such that I cant put underscore("_") also instead of space.
    Kindly suggest the proper solution.

    Hi Mukesh,
    Reporting Services, we use a Web browser to view the report that deploy to Report Service. However, not all report functionally is supported by all browsers. Such as, the print button is not supported in Mozilla Firefox. It works only in Internet Explorer
    due to it uses ActiveX for the print button.
    I have tested it on my local environment, (SQL Server Reporting Services 2008, Firefox 28.0), we cannot reproduce this issue. So the issue can be the custom setting of your browser. Since SSRS reports are not about targeting NON-IE browsers, so in your scenario,
    we recommend you use IE to view report on Report Manager.
    And you said that you cannot put underscore ("_") also instead of space. However we can do this which you can see on the screenshot below.

  • Access report export to excel shows =sum() text boxes prefixed with the textbox name

    When exporting reports from access to excel the =sum() (group and total sums) text boxes all have the text box name prefixed to them in excel. They look good in access reports. Any way to turn this off? Why is this happening?
    I've seen the same issue on 2 computers running Access 2010. I also tried this in access 2013 and had the same issue.
    See the images below as examples, the first is from access, the second is the report exported to excel.

    Hi Scott,
    Did you use the same database file? May I know how did you create the report and those TextBoxes?
    I couldn't reproduce your problem, this is what I did:
    Create a sample table and the corresponding report. Group it by one of the field, then give it a footer section. In the footer section I inserted a TextBox and set the ControlSource property to "=Sum([fieldname])". But the name of the TextBox didn't
    show in the exported Excel file. Check the screenshots here:

  • Export to Excel - File Name WAD 7.0

    Hi All,
    I am using Export to Excel Functionality with WAD 7.0 to export the report to excel format.
    I have used button web item, with an excel picture above it. The functionality works fine.
    But while exporting the name of excel file shown is WAD 7.0 name.
    ex. My WAD 7.0 name is IFIOP_C07_W700, the excel file also gets saved in this name.
    I want it to be made customizable.
    Can you throw some pointers.

  • Y-axis Does not show values when exported to excel

    Hi,
    We are facing trouble while showing Y-axis values when report is exported to excel. On report Y-axis is shown properly however when we export it to excel only 1 value is shown with arrow mark(=>).
    If we will right click Y axis, we can see all data exported in "Select Data". If we select Y-axis, and change axis properties to automatic, we can see Y-axis values on excel.
    Now, is there any property setting which will show all the data on Y-axis instead of showing up single value with arrow?

    Thanks for your reply. I tried it closing all sheets and exporting, however result doesn't change. There is an aggregate table we are querying to which holds almost 20k records. Right now I have observed this with 3 reports. In one of the report I am using Horizontal chart. In that report there is issue with X-axis.

    Hai,
    I am using report viewer, it has export button in that header.
    Could 'export button' show only pdf, and excel only?
    So the report just only export pdf only or excel only.
    Technology:
    Asp.net Vs2010

  • #NAME in Content column when  Activities Overview is exported to Excel

    When exporting Acitivities Overview to Excel, some of the columns under Content have #NAME in them and Excel indicates that it thinks there is an invalid function involved.  When the text is veiwed in the address bar, there is an = sign preceding the text.  This seems to only apply for activities of the CS Follow up type and not all of the follow up ones are affected. I noticed that when you create a Follow up, there is a blank line at the top of the contents tab above the text from the activity it was based on.  It isn't possible to create this blank line manually, so I am wondering if SAP puts some kind of unprintable character in the blank line that is causing this. If I make any small change to one of the followup activity text, without touching the blank line and then update, the blank line disappears.
    Our customer exports their activities regularly and would like to see all of the text in the Content column instead of this error. Does anyone know why this is happening?

    I have come across two scenarios that may be causing this:
    The number of characters in the text box is larger than can be handled by the Excel macro that exports them. It is an Excel limitation. I had the same issue in XL Reporter with the same field.
    The other thing one of my customers had is when syncing activities from Outlook. Where the activities had been synced from Outlook on their terminal server, the double quote character synced as a square box, syncing the same from their blackberry synced properly. This caused the contents to be unreadable when exporting to Excel
    Just a couple of things to look at!

  • Show Repeated key values in Reports and Export Into Excel

    Hi Experts,
    Currently I am working on the BW3.5 version. Our client requirement to display the repeated key value in web and export same into excel. I have followed the steps in web template which mentioned below to achieve the requirement.
    1) In my web template, add the following line to the Template Properties object tag (the tag at the very top of the web template in HTML mode):<param name="SUPPRESS_REPETITION_TEXTS" value=""/>
    After the change web template change, Myself execute the report in web, Its fine web. But I export into excel, again the key values are suppressed. So I have followed the steps in query. Then its fine. I mean, I can export into excel with repeated key values.
    2) In my query, in Properties and on the Display tab, unchecked "Hide Repeated Key Values".
    But do we have any other option without changing query properties to achieve the requirement.. I am fine with the web template change("SUPPRESS_REPETITION_TEXTS"). But I do not want to change the query properties.
    Please help me to fix the issue. Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,

    Hi Experts,
    I have come across one of the suggestion in the below location. Could you plz help me to implement it.
    http://www.sapfans.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=118185
    Suggestion:
    You can do exactly what you want, but it will take either a button changing the properties of the web item or a javascript function added to the context menu getting the properties of the table item and changing it to "X" or "". These are just two examples, there are other ways to do this. This is the actual code that sets the suppression for the repeated texts. Hope this helps.

  • SelectOneChoice Lov in Table readOnly show only ID when export to Excel

    Hi, I put a af:selectOneChoice readOnly Lov in a table to bring the DESCRIPTION of the ID in a foreig key relation, it do it well in the browser, but when I want to export to EXCEL it show only the ID of the related table.
    How can I fix it to show the DESCRIPCION in the exported excel?
    Tx in advance

    If I make it in this way, I gonna have two columns one just for the description and other for the combo, maybe in the future I need to make it editable/readonly and thats the reason I only need the combo, but when I want to export to excel it show the id.
    The error(maybe not) is because the ADF's programmer who make the excel command go for the iterator and not for the table's gui.

  • Newbie: BW Export to Excel/CSV file destination and file name

    Is it possible to control where the export of a BW web query is sent by appending the url with some tag voodoo? Also, can I create the file name of the exported file? I figured out how to kick off the export process, but haven't found any code to control the export destination or file name. I wish to skip over the save dialog and write the file to a specific location.

    Hello John,
    BW provides several ways to export data. Please look into Open Hub for example.
    Other options include Information Broadcasting in SAP NetWeaver '04 or MDX, XML Webservices, or OLAP BAPI.

  • Export to Excel in Panelcollection not working

    Hi,
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0. on WinXP
    I am surrounding PanelCollection to existing table in my application.
    After clicking on export to excel option first time it shows file name as my .jspx file and type as HTML, here it throws exception NPE(i.e. exporting fails).
    when i click on the export option in the same page second time it shows the file name as my excel file name and type as Microsoft Excel hence downloads without errors.
    I have used the below code snippet inside panelCollection component:
    <f:facet name="toolbar">
    <af:toolbar id="t1">
    <af:commandImageLink text="Export to Excel"
    inlineStyle="width:95px;" id="cil4">
    <af:exportCollectionActionListener exportedId="tVolDed"
    type="excelHTML"
    filename="c:\\try.xls"/>
    </af:commandImageLink>
    </af:toolbar>
    Could anybody help me out for the same?
    Thanks in advance!

    At my end, the code is working fine.My code is :
    <f:facet name="toolbar">
    <af:toolbar id="t1">
    <af:commandImageLink text="Export to Excel" inlineStyle="width:95px;"
    id="cil4">
    <af:exportCollectionActionListener exportedId="t2"
    type="excelHTML"
    filename="empDtlsExport.xls"/>
    </af:commandImageLink>
    </af:toolbar>
    Could you please try with filename as "try.xls" only.
    Please let us know if you are facing this issue.

  • SSRS 2012 - Groups in Report Manager aren't present when exported to Excel

    Hi all, hope somebody can help with this issue, as I cant seem to find any other posts about it
    I have a report in SSRS2012. It was copied from SSRS2005 quite recently, as we have upgraded. The SQL developer said that it didn't need any code changes, as he had some kind of tool to test code problems between the two versions.
    The report has a table, with 5 row groups, and one detail row. The table is setup as follows:
    Name                                         Sales
    Costs       Profit
    Group1
       Group2
          Group3
             Group4
                Group5
                   DetailsRow
    When I run this report using the Report Manager website from SSRS2005, and then export to Excel 2013, I get the 6 row groups in Excel, no problem whatsoever. I can drill into each group in Excel, using the group drilldown column on the left hand side. This
    works the same as the Report Manager website.
    If I run the exact same report from the Report Manager website in SSRS2012, the Report Manager result is the same as SSRS2005 - all the row groups are present, and the drilldown works fine. However, the export to Excel has issues with the groups. There are
    only 3 row groups showing in Excel, along with a column group added for no apparent reason. Drilling into each group shows inconsistent details, and there is no apparent logic as to what is shown within each group.
    Hopefully, someone has seen this issue before, and can help, because I have no idea what to do, having spent a couple of days trying to figure it out. I should also mention, that this issue with groups is seen on all my reports which have groups, not just
    this report
    Thanks for any and all help
    Naz

    Hi Naz,
    According to your description, the report works correctly in SSRS 2005 while the same report doesn’t work in SSRS 2012 when exporting to a Excel file.
    In your scenario, please make sure you are migrating the report from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2012 instead of copying the .rdl directly. Generally, we are using Reporting Services Migration Tool to migrate reports between report server. Please refer to this article:
    SQL Server Reporting Services: Migrating SSRS reports, data sources and subscriptions from one server to another.
    After migrating the report successfully, you should upgrade the report definition in SQL Server Data Tools to upgrade the .rdl file. Please refer to this article:
    Upgrade Reports.
    If you have upgraded the report but the issue still persists, please provide report design for our analysis. If possible, please provide some screenshots about the preview result and Excel render result.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.
    Best regards,
