Named constants for HTML DB page

I'm writing a page which refers in a number of places to a "magic number" - specifically, the ID of an entry in a reference table. I'd like to avoid having the magic number '21' scattered all over my page, so I was hoping to give that ID a name somewhere (preferably in the page, as it's relevant <b>only</b> to that page).
I tried using a hidden item, but that doesn't work too well, as the item isn't always getting set when I need it (example: the page-header processes can't use it, because they run before the items get set).
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Paul.

Thanks, I might try this. The only problem I have with this idea is that the value I am using only makes sense in the single page, so I was hoping to define it at the page level.
To be more concrete, I'm writing a number of pages which run external queries. The bulk of the page is a standard report on a results table, but there's a chunk of boilerplate that is needed for each page (button to refresh the data, "waiting..." progress icon, text saying when the data was last refreshed). All of this is completely standard, and table-driven, with the only difference being the query ID. So what I'm trying to do is make it as standard as possible, so I can write it up as a recipe for others to follow: Just add the following things to your query page, and set the value of this one "constant" to your query ID.
Hmm, maybe I can map the page ID to a query ID via a database table, a bit like the other poster suggested...
Thanks for the ideas, andyway.
Paul.

  • WebDynpro proxy page with Webdynpro iView and SAP Gui for html iView

    Hello,
    I have a requirement to have a page that has at the top of it a webdynpro for java iView screen with several links that when pressed pop-up various data pulled from the back-end. This part is fine and presents no problem. Beneath this the requirement calls for a SAP Gui for HTML iView to be displayed. Which is no problem either. The problem occurs when one of the links in the java webdynpro application at the top of the screen is pressed it causes the SAP Gui for HTML portion to refresh and come back to the beginning. So for example you first navigate to this screen and you go into the sap gui for html portion and drill into 2 or 3 screens in the sap gui for html transaction. If you then press one of the webdynpro links the sap gui for html (which is a separate iView) refreshes and you are taken back to the initial screen. This only occurs when using a web dynpro proxy page. If I use a standard page the SAP Gi for html does not refresh. Unfortunately there are other things not mentioned here that require us to use the webdynpro proxy page.
    Any help is greatly appreciated,
    Bert

    Use System admin -> System Config and find your system in the PCD (under portal content). Right click and open -> permissions. Find a user or group or role and give it the end user permission. I'd suggest the group Everyone.

  • Named Criteria for Table Not Filtering on Page Load

    Hi Guys and Gals,
    I'm tying to create a filtered table using named view criteria (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24382_01/web.1112/e16182/web_search_bc.htm#BABBCHIH).
    I create the Named Criteria; I drag from the Named Criteria from the Data Control onto the page; I select ADF Read-Only Filtered Table option. I run the page and much to my chagrin, the table is not filtered. A table with all results, plus a filter box with a value "S" (my named criteria filter value), is displayed.
    Shouldn't the results already be filtered upon page load?
    The filter works correctly when I run tests in my AppModule.
    Using JDev 11.1.2.1.0.
    Will

    I've found a workaround.
    I drag and drop the VO (unfiltered) from the Data Control and select read-only table. In my pageDef, I select the table's binding and check the "Enable Filtering" box. I then select the attribute to filter on and the applicable filter text.
    The table then displays filtered results on page load.
    However, I only see this working for very simple filtering (i.e. one column with simple filter requirements). It should be nice to know why dragging and dropping Named View Criteria onto the page does not automatically filter table results on page load.

    so from the above  markup  the name field is not part of the edit form,, i think this is because the Name is part of the Document content type and not part of the enterprisewiki content type .. so is there a way to add the name field to the edit
    form ?.
    second question, the edit form will show all the content type fields such as ; standard, document type, department , title (display in search), etc   so what is the best way to remove these fields from the custom edit form ?

    Hello John,
    This can only be done by adding VBScript to the form. It would basically be:
    Sub Item_Open()
    Item.GetInspector.SetCurrentFormPage "P.2"
    End Sub
    ... where "P.2" would be what you named the page you want to display first.

  • Scrubber Thumbnails for HTML Articles - How Do You Get them to Actually Appear?!?!?

    Hi Gang,
    My apologies if I asked this last month, but it's really driving me nuts.
    The cover of our magazine is an HTML article, and it appears as a blank screen in both the TOC and BROWSE modes. The former is easy to fix by simply creating a thumb image and inserting it via Indesign or the Folio Producer. It's the browse mode that is the conundrum. I've followed the following instructions provided by ADOBE and updated my HTML article but to no avail.
    Creating scrubber thumbnails for HTML articles
    For InDesign articles, the viewer automatically generates the thumbnails that appear when you drag the scrubber. However, generating thumbnails for HTML articles takes more time, sometimes resulting in poorly rendered thumbnails. To improve thumbnail performance in HTML articles, you can manually add image files to the HTML article folders.
    Create png files that are named "scrubberthumbnail_h.png" and "scrubberthumbnail_v.png" (you can also use _l and _p suffixes). Add these files to the HTML article folder. There is no size restriction for these images, but note that they are scaled down proportionally to a height of 166 pixels. As a point of reference, when thumbnails are generated, landscape thumbnails are 221x166 pixels, and portrait thumbnails are 125x166 pixels.
    What am I doing wrong? My folio is portrait (vertical)-only and I put my .png filed named "scrubberthumbnail_v.png" in the parent directory (same level as the "cover_v.html" file targetted) of the HTML article. Should it be put somehwere else in the article folder?
    I'm hoping there is a simply solution.
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks guys, but that doesn't address my problem. It's an HTML article, not a web content overlay.
    Yes, I know I could redo the cover within InDesign using a web content overlay spanning the entire 'page' and use a MSO as pointed out, but the cover starts off empty and then items begin to appear (ie) image and then the magazine title followed by the article titles. The latter which are linked (navto:) to their respective article. The problem is that navto links do NOT work in web content overlays, which is why I resorted to creating an HTML article. But alas, the scrubber thumbnail problem...
    The instructions above do not work for me, unless I've done something wrong such as placing the thumb image in the wrong location within my HTML folder, which in this case is a published EDGE ANIMATE project.
    And yes I could still go the MSO/InDesign web content overlay route and insert invisible frames over my link text as delayed MSOs, but that seems unecessary since I should be able to create the scrubber thumbnail for an HTML article as explained above.
    Any advice regarding the creation of the scrubber thumbnail? Or does it simply not function as intended at this time? I'm using InDesign CS5.5 using v.26 tools.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Hyperlink URL for an iweb page for press release

    I am writing a press release in Word and I want to create a hyperlink in Word directly to the third page on my iweb site which is http://web.mac.com/decouvrir/mamaloosemusic/Welcome.html. But that adress is for the welcome page. But I want to get directly to another page.
    The other page name on my navigation bar is Mamaloose, but the internal title in my iweb list is "mamaloosecorpinfo". What should the resulting URL be in order to go directly to that page?

    Okay, firstly you need to sort out your site name. Is this your site here? http://web.me.com/decouvrir.
    Your url link does not work, so there is something wrong somewhere. Go into iWeb and check your site name and perhaps re-publish. Also, you need to be using web.me.com and not web.mac.com as you have.
    Also, if you are linking from a Word document, it is not the navigation menu that you need to link to, it is the page name from the url and you need to link to in iWeb - so it does not matter what your navigation link is, if you named your page "mamaloosecorpinfo", then your page will be this that followed by .html and it is this that you need to link to, to take you to that page of your website.

  • BP for Modifying Framework Pages

    can someone tell me what the best practice for changing portlet display is? for
    instance, i would like some portlets NOT to display a title bar at all and for
    some portal pages to NOT show a tab, but still be accessible.
    i am considering using a naming standard (i.e., hidden_PageName and notitlebar_PortletName)
    so that i can modify the framework pages to look for these prefixes and show/not
    show titlebars, show/not show tabs.
    is there a better way? i don't see anything in the portal that allows one to do
    these two things as configuration
    thanks

    Don't know about 4, but in 7 i just edited portlet.jsp to look for "notitlebar_"
    in the front of the portlet's name when it's rendering titlebars, banners, etc.
    i suppose you could just set the title bar url to be a blank html page, didn't
    think of that in time!
    That wouldn't help you in the example of hiding tabs though, unless you used a
    blank , 1 pixel image

    Hey Jack,
    At least in Portal4.0, if you didn't want a portlet to have a titlebar,
    in EBCC
    you need to specify the portlets titlebar to titlebar_blank.jsp. I think
    it was
    a bug(?) in portal that it didn't allow you to use a null value here.
    So there
    is actually some code in the FW pages that check if titlebar value is
    titlebar_blank
    and if it is, it does not render it.

  • Custom HTML Master Page not updating when activating Feature via PowerShell

    I created a WSP to deploy a HTML Master Page.  I later have code that will publish this Master Page to create a .master, but I stripped this out just to simplify things.  My issue is with the first step - getting the HTML Master Page file to
    update by activating the feature using PowerShell.  I don't understand why it's not working - I'm not even using this Master Page currently.  Plus, oddly the master page does update if I go into the UI and deactivate/activate my feature.
    I can easily reproduce this problem using the following steps:
    1. Created a SharePoint Empty Project named SharePointProject1
    2. Added a Module named Module1
    3. Added a HTML Master Page called MyMaster.html and updated the elements.xml file for the Module1 with the following:
     <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
      <Module Name="Module1" Url="_catalogs/masterPage/Test">
        <File Path="Module1\MyMaster.html" Url="MyMaster.html" ReplaceContent="TRUE" Level="Published" Type="GhostableInLibrary">
          <Property Name="Title" Value="My Master Page" />
          <Property Name="MasterPageDescription" Value="My Master Page" />
          <Property Name="UIVersion" Value=";#15;#" />
          <Property Name="HtmlDesignAssociated" Value="TRUE" />
          <Property Name="ContentType" Value="Html Master Page" />
        </File>
      </Module>
    </Elements>
    4. Deployed the WSP and activated the Feature containing Module1
    5. Updated the HTML Master Page
    6. Re-deployed the WSP
    7. Deactivated the feature and Reactivated the feature using PowerShell
         => _catalogs/masterpage/test folder still has OLD file - Why??
        $deployFeatureId = "575ec423-1b20-404c-8b2c-d160426c53e7"
        Disable-SPFeature -Identity $deployFeatureId -Url
    http://sp2013local -confirm:$false
        Enable-SPFeature -Identity $deployFeatureId -Url
    http://sp2013local
    8. Deactivated the feature and Reactivated the feature through UI
         => _catalogs/masterpage/test folder now has the correct file
    I even added event receiver code to delete the HTML file on deactivation but that still didn't work.

    Hi Sagar,
    The second link isn't applicable for me because I'm not setting the Master Page for the site collection just yet.  I'm just trying to get the version to be correct in the master page library first.
    For the first link, I am trying to publish a Master Page, not a Page Layout.  I did try adding some similar code that I found from this article,
    http://www.eliostruyf.com/provision-your-html-designs-master-pages-page-layouts-to-sharepoint-2013/
    but the same result.  PowerShell is still copying an old version of the file to the Master Page Gallery, but the activating/deactivating the feature in the UI works fine.
    Here is my code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
      <Module Name="Module1" Url="_catalogs/masterPage/Test">
        <File Path="Module1\MyMaster.html" Url="MyMaster.html" ReplaceContent="TRUE" Level="Draft" Type="GhostableInLibrary">
        </File>
      </Module>
    </Elements>
        public class Feature1EventReceiver : SPFeatureReceiver
            public override void FeatureActivated(SPFeatureReceiverProperties properties)
                SPSite site = (SPSite)properties.Feature.Parent;
                PublishMasterPage(site, "/_catalogs/masterpage/Test/MyMaster.html");
            public void PublishMasterPage(SPSite site, string filePath)
                SPFile file = site.RootWeb.GetFile(filePath);
                if (file.CheckOutType != SPFile.SPCheckOutType.None)
                    file.Item.Update();
                else
                    file.CheckOut();
                    file.Item.Update();
                file.CheckIn("Checked in by the branding deploy feature", SPCheckinType.MajorCheckIn);
                if (file.DocumentLibrary.EnableModeration)
                    file.Approve("Approved by the branding deploy feature");

  • Linking PL/SQL custom region into html db pages

    Hello,
    I have built an htmldb application with several pages, the first 7 of which contain html regions containing htmldb form items I created using the html db interface. I am able to step through the first 6 pages of my application, noting that the values of all the variables are saved when clicking from tab to tab.
    I created page 8 which contains a custom dynamic region, in which I used the PL/SQL web toolkit to create an html table, form, and several form fields in which to capture data.
    What I'd like to do is, link my custom region variables, etc. into the other pages that were generated by html db. The code snippet for my custom region is located below... After I navigate to my page with the custom region then click on Submit or even try to switch to another tab, I get the dreaded error: "The requested URL /pls/htmldb/wwv_flow.accept was not found on this server."
    I am learning this product and admittedly am just knowledgeable to be dangerous. There must be some way to link in the items on my form I created with the rest of the pages within the application.
    I am sure I'm missing an important piece. Has anyone else done something similar? Any ideas, or can you tell me if what I'm doing is not possible?
    In case you're curious, the reason I am writing my own region with PL/SQL using the WebToolkit, etc. is because our organization wanted an example of taking an html db page and porting it over for use in Portal.
    Thanks in advance for any comments.

    Thank you for your reply...
    I actually was probably not very clear about what I'm trying to do. Let me try to clarify and give more background info...
    I have found it very easy to utilize html db to create my web forms, and manage all the variables and session state for me. It is so easy to make a quick form, capture info in a few fields and then post it to the DB. I have found it very difficult to use, however, in terms of getting it to format things the way I wish them to be.
    For example: I cannot seem, for the life of me, to get it to wrap field labels. This results in oddly formatted tables. I have tried to utilize the stop and start html table controls, begin on new line, new field, colspan, rowspan, etc., but what I really need is for it to let me define the tables and field labels, as I have done so successfully with the PL/SQL web toolkit (the code snipped for this is in my first post). What I did unsuccessfully with my custom dynamic region was manage to incorporate my form fields into variables and session state that will be automatically managed by html db along with the other 6 pages in my application. I was perhaps, expecting code to write itself, in retrospect. I'm sure some coding will be necessary to bind my form fields to vars in my html db appl. But, after reading a blog by a Mr. Spledoni (forgive me if spelling is wrong,) I think I messed up by overlapping <FORM> elements in my custom region. I admittedly don't understand how html db renders the form elements and processes them behind the scenes. I do remember from the Portlet classes, however, that coding was certainly necessary to process the forms once submitted.
    Am I making sense?
    I guess I need to either figure out how to format field labels the way I want them to be, OR to be able to write a custom region in PL/SQL using the web toolkit and figure out how to incorporate the values captured within the region into items or variables within my application, all other pages of which are html regions with html db items within them (not dymanic PL/SQL regions).
    Thanks for reading this, I know it's tedious...

  • Start XML Publisher from a html based page.

    Hi.
    We have users that only have access to the html based pages in EBS.
    I wonder if I somehow can make it possible for them to start a xml publisher report request with parameters, from those html based pages.
    In the form based pages this is not a problem, just add the concurrent program to a request group. But there must be someway to do this from the html based pages as well.
    Is there a Role that can be assigned or something?

    a 'background image in the div container. Thanks to Nancy, who
    frequents these forums, I was able to get rid of the background
    image that surrounds the main div container with the CSS she
    suggested. (Here's the page with Nancy's suggestion of the correct
    CSS and where to insert it -Thanks Nancy-: <

    The page is almost done but I want to have a background image
    in the main div container. I've been trying to figure this out on
    my own but haven't been able to. Can anyone help me? Thanks for the
    help,
    Lou
    Note: Here the CSS that Nancy suggestion with my modification
    included to get rid of the background. If anyone needs to see more
    of the code please email me.
    Thanks again,
    <style type="text/css">
    body {
    background-image: none;
    <!--
    -->
    </style>
    I now want to place an image in the div container. I've not
    been able to figure out how to do this.

    No need. All source is available from the link.
    In ilth.html, change this:
    <style type="text/css">
    body {
    background-image: none;
    <!--
    -->
    </style>
    <link href="../css/global.css" rel="stylesheet"
    type="text/css" />
    <script src="../SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js"
    type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="../SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css"
    rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    to this:
    <link href="../css/global.css" rel="stylesheet"
    type="text/css" />
    <script src="../SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js"
    type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="../SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css"
    rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <style type="text/css">
    body {
    background-image: none;
    background-color: #fff;
    #container {
    background-image: url(../images/global/bkPage.jpg);
    </style>
    By embedding the styles AFTER the linked stylesheets, the
    rules
    will overwrite property/value pairs in identical rules that
    may already exist in the linked sheets - assuming no
