NaN as default value for LabVIEW numeric control

TestStand 2010 SP1, LabVIEW 2011 SP1
This may be a "feature" but I also may be missing something here.
Reproduce my issue doing this:
Create a VI with a numeric double. Set the value to NaN. Make that the default value. Connect it to the connector pane. Try and call it from TestStand. The prototype will not reload. Why? NOTE: it only works for controls and not indicators.

We have hundreds of VIs with the default set to NaN. We started seeing this issue when we just upgraded to the latest dev suite.

The prototype reloads fine in TestStand 4.2.1 and LabVIEW 2010, as you probably already knew.
In TestStand 2010, the problem is that it doesn't reload only when you set to NAN? Or does it never reload no matter what the numeric value is?
What is your logic for using NaN values? Are these values that are not used in tests? We have a suite of over 50+ tests and I have never used NaN values as inputs.

Default value of a numeric control

Hello I want to fix the default value of a numeric control using his node property but I haven't found this attribute. It's possible to fix this value through the node property of a block?
I've tried to fix it, right-clicking on the control....properties....default value....but when I save the vi's and I reopen the vi's, his value has disappeared and value is set 0.
Do you know another way to fix this value?

The default value is only relevant when the VI is loaded into memory, not every time you start running it. Your code is probably changing the value to some out-of-limit value (probably 0 if your calculations are incorrect) and it is coerced to the minimum. If you want a value to remain constant, don't change it.
The answer is simple - DON'T RUN CONTINUOUSLY! If you want something to repeat, use a loop. That way, the value will only need to be read once, when the VI starts running. If this didn't help you, you should post the VI and explain more about your problem.
To learn more about LabVIEW, I suggest you try searching this site and google for LabVIEW tutorials. Here and here are a couple you can start with. You can also contact your local NI office and join one of their courses.
In addition, I suggest you read the LabVIEW style guide and the LabVIEW user manual (Help>>Search the LabVIEW Bookshelf).

I have created taxonomy control in custom aspx page and I am able to select terms but I am trying to setup default value to that control.
Can anybody let me know how to set the default value for TaxonomyWebTagging control in custom.aspx page with nested terms?

I have a test in my environment. It could be achieved by setting the Text Property of TaxonomyWebTaggingControl.

Default values for confirmation control key

Dear forum
I am using a confirmation control key 0004 Shipping notification (standard SAP) in the Purchase order line item (created with ME21n).
When I enter the confirmation data (with transaction ME22n) in the purchase order line item (confirmations tab), I have to type in delivery date, quantity and so on manually, which is standard.
But, what if I want to copy the original delivery date and quantity from the line item in the order, and use this as default value for the line item confirmation data...is it possible somehow?
The reason why I want to do this is for the user not having to go in and update this date manually all the time, but only when the confirmed dates/quantities differ from the desired delivery date and quantities in the purchase order line item. We are not on EDI or using Inbound deliverys for Purchase orders.

The Confirmation is nothing but the acknowledgement.So, its usually entered manuallly by the authorised User allowing follow on documents for Purchase Order.
You can chesk once the customisation of Confiramtion control keys for automatic update indicator.

the display will be in display mode on the screen as screen-input = 0.
see that in the table control u can get the table field for all the rows even though you are processing on some fields .
so what u do is make that particular filed masked(no i/p field and populate the field that will be better instead of populating all the columns okay.

All number member variables, like myvar1 start off with andefault initial value which is zero. For booleans this is false. Object reference variables, like myclass1, have a null value.
All local numeric variables are considered undefined. So mylocal1 and myclass2 are undefined. Before you can use them you must explicitly provide a value.
Finally note that myvar2 will have two values during class instantiation. Initially it will have a value of zero. Sometime later it will have the value of 3. (When that happens is very definitely outside the scope of what this forum covers. If you want to know then ask in the advanced forum.)

Default value for variable are not within permitted value range (precalc)

Issue:
I have created a variable (Characteristic Value/ Manual input-default value) and use the precalculated value set (details-basic settings). In the further variable definition I could select the precalculated value set in 'Default values', which I have defined beforehand in the broadcaster..
The precalculated value set in the broadcaster settings is just based on a master data query on 0CUSTOMER.
Error:
The variable gets the error E991/R9E Errors: Default values for variable 'XXX' are not within permitted value range.
The detail description of the error is: You defined default values for variable 'Sold-to party precalc value set for manuel input' that are not appropriate for the variable type; for example, a range is defined as a default value for a variable that only permits a single value.
So please has someone had the same issue and found out how to solve it? It would be excelent to get good solution for this issue.

How do you know what the default value for an object will be...if using a "use default if unwired" with an event case?

i want to write an export plugin but didn't know how to set the default value for the control color_well in the exportPresetFields. The entry
{ key = 'c_text_forecolor', default = LrColor(0,0,0) }
causes no error message but the control is invisible in the filter section.
Please can anybody give me a hint to handle this control in the lua script ?

I am trying to load a datafile to a table using SQL*loader, how can I assign the default values for a coulmn in control file of sql loader, here are datafile and target table i am using

The datafile has the data for only 3 columns in emp_table, there is no data for empjob and empmgr in the datafile.I would like to use default values for them empjob = sales and empmgr = 2001, so how can I set these default values in the control file.

The simplest way is to forget about passing default values in control file. Create table just for this load with DEFAULT constraint for missing columns and load file in this newly created table. Let's call it LDR_TBL. Then "INSERT INTO EMP_TBL SELECT * FROM LDR_TBL; " Make sure you define control file as follows (skipping empjob and empmgr). Oracle will populate "empjob, empmgr" with 'sales',2001 as part of column constraint.
load data
infile 'x.txt'
into table emp_table
fields terminated by ',' optionally enclosed by '"'
(empid,empname,empdept)
When all is done, DROP TABLE LDR_TBL ;

Well, you are using the Dynamic Data Type, which I almost never use, but if you convert the data to a WaveForm (using From DDT on the Signal Manipulation Palette, which is a choice when you right-click on the DDT Wire), you should be able to do this. Do you know about how Waveforms are stored? They are a Cluster, with t0 being a TimeStamp for the start of the Waveform, dt being the time step, and Y being the samples. So if you want a point at 0.5 seconds and dt is 0.001, you would pull out the point at Index 499 (offset 0) from the Y array.

You can achieve this by redefining the method GET_VH_PRODUCT_TYPE() in IMPL class of searchHelp view. Just copy paste the implementation of this method from super class and now control the internal table as per your requirement like
comment out the line APPEND INITIAL LINE TO lt_ddlb. (line no: 47)
as it will add an empty line at the starting of internal of product type values which you dont want. In you case there should be some default value for product type field, so arrange the inetrnal table values according to you requirement and what ever value you want to default for product type that should be the first value in the drop down without empty line and add an empty line at the end of the internal table.
No need to call super->GET_VH_PRODUCT_TYPE() in your implementation as you have written all the required code in your implemenation itself.

How to set default values for inputs?

I have several inputs which are always initialized with 0 when I start the VI. I'd like save own default values for them. I've already tried just setting the numbers and saving the VI but it did not work.

If you want to make any data in any controls, Arrays you can right click on it select >Data operations>Make current values default or you can select EDIT in tool bar, click on Make current values Default.
First, enter the data you want in the control or array and then follow the things Geeta said.

So far i havent found any way to set todays date by default from MMI, but i guess this flow should work as workaroud
1. Add buisness rule which can set a default value when Date = NULL/Blank
2.get the entity table ,use -select EntityTable from mdm.tblEntity where Name = '<enter entity name>'
3.Go to that table and add a after update trigger like
if uda_<entityid>_<attributeid(Date attribute)> = default value
update uda_<entityid>_<attributeid(Date attribute)> =getdate() where id = <LastUpdatedRow>
I will check on this too from my side.
By the way AFAIK i dont think so calendar control integration is possible .
