Nano issues with Vista

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just purchased a new computer with Windows Vista 64-bit. Itunes loads fine and recognizes all my music. When I plug in my Nano my computer knows its an iPod but it freezes itunes. I also am not able to open my computer to see if it shows as a removable drive. It will not allow me to eject the ipod. As soon as I unplug the ipod everything goes back to working fine. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes. I have reset my ipod and put it into disc mode. None of these steps have worked. Any ideas? Thank you.

They may have the latest driver from their manufacturer, but they probably don't have the latest intel reference driver. The 2915abg isn't the worst intel chipset I've had experience with (that title goes to the 2200bg) but it's by far not the best (that title goes to the 3945... I haven't had the chance to mess with the .n chipset). All intel wireless chipsets seem to have issues that are resolved by the latest driver. I'd check out this site:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=1847&OSFullName=Windows+Vista*+Enterprise%2C+32-bit+version&lang=eng&strOSs=155&submit=Go%21
and see if there is a newer reference driver they can try. I've had similar experiences with any Intel Centrino based laptop (high latency, low signal, etc) that are *always* resolved by updating to the newest driver. Best of luck!

How to resolve compatability issues when loading Photoshop Elements 4.0 with Vista operating system. The Software came with Canon Canoscan 8600F scanner.

Nope, I'm afraid that's not gonna work out. The best you can hope for is trying compatibility modes, but otehrwise I don't think there is any way to run this 7 or 8 year old software on Vista or Win7/ Win8 for that matter...

  • Elements 4 Compatibility issue with Vista

Everything was fine 'till my old faithful pc, and Windows XP, went belly up. Now the new pc, with Vista won't allow the complete Elements program to operate. I'm told, "This program has known compatibility issues". If the issues are known, can someone please tell me how to resolve the issue. I can't seem to find any answer. I'm operating on a Hewlett Packard - HPw1707, and have an HP Photosmart C6270 all-in-one printer. 465 GB capacity. I'd really like to be able to work with Elements 4 and hope for help. Thanks

    What exactly the problem is?
Is this printer not accessible through PSE4 or what?

  • MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings install issues with Vista

    Hello,
I recently upgraded my ThinkPad Z60m to Vista by doing a clean install from disk.  Since this process involves manually installing each of the ThinkPad utilities manually (no pre-built image for Vista, only XP), I have ran into some issues with the installer for the MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings.
According to the Support & Download page, there are two downloads available for the Z60m and both have issues (or errors) that are preventing me from installing the application.  Below are the two products and reasons for not installing:
"MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows XP and 2000"
Problem: Does not install on Vista
Error message: "Could not open \device\physicalmemory"
"MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows Vista"
Problem: ThinkPad Z60m is not a supported
Error message: "This program is not for machine type 2529EAU"
What I am looking for is an installation of MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings that supports users who have upgraded from XP to Vista (or downgrade depending on your feelings of Vista  ).  I have not found anywhere saying that upgrades from XP to Vista are not supported, so I should expect that software updates should be available for ThinkPad products on either platform.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I recently did a clean install of Win7 Ult on my X61 7676A24, and this is the only Lenovo software that I could not find a Win 7 solution for. However,
    1. I was able to load WinDVD8 upgrade (from Lenovo's Win7 information page) after first loading the WinDVD5 version that was the last good release for Vista.
    2. The Multimedia Center for Think Offerings is basically Roxio's suite for writing cd/dvd's, drag to disc and so on.
Since I could not load this anyway, I was forced to try out Win7's inbuilt cd/dvd writing - it works perfectly well.  Even better, Win7 natively supports an excellent ISO burning tool. So, I think if you explore these inbuilt tools, you can probably live without the Mul Cent for Think Off.

  • Ipod nano running with Vista

Anyone heard of Ipod/itunes crashing Vista. Have upgraded to Vista, running Raid 1 (mirror 2 HDs). Each time we plug in our brand new nano and try and do the updates, etc. it has crashed one hard drive. Not sure if the HD itself is bad or if it just broke the Raid. Let me know what a solution could be. Now scared to plug the nano back in for fear of this happening again.

I've got a RAID 0 configuration, and have suffered data loss whenever I connect my ipod.
Let's hope Apple find a solution soon. It's shocking that they dont report this as a known issue.

  • ITunes 11/iPod Nano issues with syncing

I just updated to iTunes 11 after recently getting a new 16GB Nano. I wasn't having any trouble syncing my iPod until I downloaded the new iTunes. Now  it keeps getting stuck on the second track that it's attempting to sync (track 2 of 345, e.g.)

every since I bought a windows 8 computer, having same issue; if I stop; restart it will get one more track, but I have over 20000 tracks; I even manually converted all 22000 tracks from mp3 to m4a and still didn't fix.  it would take days or months to sync 22000 songs manually this way.  If you search online, there are free alternatives to itunes now to sync your ipod and I think I may be leaving itunes if the issue isn't resolved in next week or two. I am seeing the official response from apple seems to be they have no intention at this time to make itunes compatible with windows 8.

  • Issues with Vista SP2

I used Windows Update to download and install SP2. It got through, and restarted. I wasn't there to see what happened, but it initiated step 3, and then about 10-20 minutes later it told me that the install had failed and it was reverting changes. Then it rebooted by itself. Then it went back to Step 1; I didn't see anything else happen. Later, I only saw the login screen; I didn't see anythign else. When I logged in, it checked for more updates but gave me error 8007005. I also noticed that Aero was not available (Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Change Color Scheme). I tried installing drivers for the system again, but it told me there was a system reboot pending. I manually clicked the reboot button in the Start Menu; as far as I can tell it rebooted normally (as before, I wasn't there to see if anything was different). When I rebooted, Aero still wasn't available, and the driver installer package still told me that there was a reboot pending. That time, when I checked for updates, it was "Checking" for a very long time.
Overall, it seemed that performance was greatly decreased; for about 10-15 minutes after both reboots, the system was very laggy I could hear the hard drive (it wasn't making any noises out of the ordinary, but I could tell that there was a lot of hard drive activity).
Throughout, when I opened the Welcome Center and clicked on more info, I was told that Service Pack 2 was installed.
Basically, my questions/concerns are: Is SP2 actually installed, or is it partially installed and having some [adverse] affect on the OS? Why is Aero not working? What's causing the performance lag? What should I do to fix the "Reboot pending" state?
Side note: I used this to try to fix the Aero problem, but as far as I can tell, it just told me that a service was off. When I checked in Task Manager, there was no such Service; as far as I know, the Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Service thing didn't do anything else.
    I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 32/bit SP1 or SP2.
My system is an Apple iMac (April 2008 model). I used Boot Camp to create a Windows partition; when it rebooted, it defaulted to mac; I manually rebooted the system and loaded Windows, where it continued the Service Pack install. I don't know if that "interruption" had any affect on the installation.
    Update: Update:
A little prompt came up, and I clicked reboot. That fixed the "reboot pending" issue. When I rebooted, it displayed Installing Service Pack: Step 3 of 3. I left for a minute or two; when I came back, I was at the login screen. On each of the three times, a little dialog emerged saying:
C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe (that's in the title bar)
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
    The only option is OK.
This time I didn't notice the performance lag. I'm currently installing drivers; don't know if that'll help. I still don't know if SP2 is actually fully installed, or if its in some hybrid state.

I've had trouble from time to time with the account desktop and as a result I now have at least three login accounts: one for installs and upgrades, a 2nd admin account, and 3rd is standard for day to day use.
I also fortunately have a large 70 minutes of UPS runtime, and power did go (5 seconds but enough to kill system otherwise) during one of those long "do not shutoff while installing".
I downloaded the update manually and ran it off my hard drive.
Don't know if you can even install graphic drivers yourself, which kept me from buying and using an iMac for Windows.
Windows Update: see what updates are installed, should show "Service Pack" and you can always uninstall Service Pack and reinstall. I had to uninstall SP2-RC before I could install SP2 final.
Create Restore Points; uninstall graphic drives - you'll need to restart - and you may want to use Driver Sweeper - in SAFE MODE and where you can delete any ATI/Nvidia folder left behind - then install the graphic driver of your choice.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Distortion Issues With Vista - See if this solution works for you guys

First of All Creative - It's sad, really sad that you really haven't supported your customers. As such a big maker of excellent products, I'm disappointed to know that you have barely provided driver support to your customers. I've been buying Creative products since 1997 - Also - I purposely upgraded my sound card on my Hp Media Center to an Audigy 2 ZS. Secondly - I formatted my computer and re-installed Vista. Before that, the sound card i.e. the sound worked fine (after a lot of trial and errors with different drivers, i somehow managed to get it working without Snap, Crackle and Pop Issues. In other words, I experienced distorted playback when I first installed Vista. Now that I re-installed Vista - Everything installed but as usual - only issue: Yup, you guessed it right.
Creative Audigy 2 ZS Infamous Snap Crackle Pop (SCP) I did try k_daniels drivers and even though I applaud for his efforts - unfortunately it didn't work for me but i'm sure they would if you did the following - ) Uninstall all Creative Drivers Using Driver Sweep2) Do not install the driver through Windows Update (did not work for me)3) Install latest drivers from Creative or K_Daniel's Package4) Install Vista Codec Pack5) Install DirectX06) Then do the following: Got this sorted. Hope it works for everyone..found the answer searching Google.
Right click VOLUME icon in taskbar
    Click PLAYBACK DEVICES
    Right click SPEAKERS
Click PROPERTIESClick ADVANCED Make sure there's no tick marks in any of the options there including ENHANCEMENTS.
This should sort it. [After doing all this, I have no sound issues whatsoever - Crystal Clear Audio Quality but still not better then XP] I am planning to try K_Daniels pack with all the extra applications and I'll post later on in regards to my experience with the pack. Good Luck P.S: Hope this helps somebody because doing all that helped me get back the audio clarity I was looking for without any distortion whatsoever.

    Hi xmins
Im not using a decoder, only an amplifier alone with two speakers ... My cable is plugged in line out , and then plugged on line in of the amplifier.
The distortion is very audible, in HL 2, Battlefield 2, etc
When got a explosion, a shot from shotgun, missile, the sound comes distorted ...
    Any more hints?

  • Crop Tool Issue with Vista

    Hi,
Every time I use the crop tool I get a tiny image as a result, the image resolution changes automatically to 9999px, if I set it back to 300px the image is crappy, and can't get around this.
I can only asume this is a Vista compatibility issue, as this is at my job's computer, and at home I have XP, and don't have this issue.
Anybody with the same issue? Is there a patch available? HELP!
    Thanks in advance

9999px is not a tiny image; it is huge if you mean 9999 x 9999 pixels.
    1) As an experiment, try leaving all of the inputs blank when using the crop tool.
If this works then read up on the crop tool input settings, especially the resolution setting. I always leave this resolution setting blank since I do not want to resample my image when I crop my image.
I also never set my h and w to pixels, because I dont like the way this setting works with pixels selected. It is very non-intuitive and not very useful.
If I want to crop to a set number of pixels, I use the marquee select tool and fixed size in pixels. Then Image/crop from the menu bar. This works the way I think the crop tool should work with pixels, but does not.
    Good Luck
    Ed

  • 5.1 surround issues with Vista 64-

I have browsed these forums extensively and many people have had similar but not identical issues to mine. I have:Vista HP 64-bit, E6600, EVGA 680i MOBO, 4gb corsair, x-fi fatalty platinum, EVGA 8800gts, old logitech 5. speakers I have installed the Creative Vista CD and updated all drivers as of 8-Dec-2007 My issue is: I cannot force mp3s to play through all speakers in mediasource....speakers work in 5. during games and creatives surround testing reveals all speakers are working fine. unfortunately, i have not been able to hear a difference in the CMSS-3d panel. so basically, i have not been able to play music through all of the speakers. is there a way to play mediasource mp3s through all speakers thank you

i am using the champion version...my logitech 5. speakers are capable of prologic 2 - which is currently the only way to get full surround features while playing mp3s off of mediasource. the cmss3d settings and stereo envelopment settings have no discernable effect. i am using the 3 analog cables (center/sub, front r/l, rear r/l) which plug into the command console of the speakers. i recently (yesterday) upgraded from an old audigy 2 platinum card - which would output to all speakers when the speakers were set to six channel direct mode (unlike now). there was also a message that came up from vista which said that "windows has detected that audio enhancements for my creative x-fi powered speakers are causing problems and would i like to disable enhancements." it may have to do with onboard sound which i think has been disabled already - i am going to confirm, install new mobo drivers, and check again. i don't know why the creative cmss functions don't work - they should have an affect, right

  • Video Playback ISSUE WITH VISTA!!!!  NEEDED HELP BADLY!!!!!!!

I am using a Dell XPS GEN 5 PC with Windows Vista Premium Edition as the current OS installed. I have latested up date for Itunes and QuickTime (7.1.6) Installed. I have recently bought and downloaded 3 of the Original Star Trek Tv Shows from Itunes. When I try and play one of them, they don't work. The Screen comes up, the show starts, then stops. Sometimes the sound keeps on playing, and then stops. Sometimes it just dosent even come on. I'm guessing (as a highly advanced Windows PC User) That this ia a "video/playback issue, related to a Apple/Vista Compatibility problem. I would like help solving this problem.
    -Nick.

Do you have a SATA hard drive? I have the same problem you describe when trying to play videos in iTunes. Do the previews of music videos on the iTunes web site play OK? If they do you probably have the same problem with SATA HD and iTunes incompatibility. Not sure who is going to fix that problem and when. I have found one fix that worked for me. Copy your video(s) to a flash drive and then play them from there. It's a workaround and you shouldn't have to do it but it does allow you to watch the videos.

  • IPod nano issue with shuffle function--includes unchecked songs

When I use "shuffle" on my Nano, it is including songs that I have deselected from my music library in iTunes (i.e. songs I don't want loaded to my Nano).
Anyone know why this is happening? I thought unchecked songs weren't transferred to the device, yet I can play them on it?
Is this a glitch or known error?
Thanks for any help you can provide....

    Check the following:
    - Is the iPod full?
    - Is the iPod set to update automatically?
    - Is the iPods update behavior restricted to a certain number of playlists?
    - Rightclick the iPod in the sourcelist, hit update.
    - If nothing else works, try reformatting the iPod with the latest Updater

  • MOVED: TV@nywhere driver issues with vista....

This topic has been moved to Vista problems.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=107762.0

Seems to be resolved. Ultimately I uninstalled all software related to iPod/iTunes from the harddrive; then re-installed latest version of iTunes;reformatted the iPod's harddrive; did a hard reset on the iPod; let Vista search for and install USB and related drivers from Windows; let iTunes perform a restore; and then, with iTunes running and the iPod connected, installed iPodsetup software. Now all I have to do is re-copying 55 Gb to the iPod...
Problem does seem to be resolved. If anyone has trouble getting their iPod's to be connected/recognized, at least under Vista, you may want to try the above steps...it just takes fiddling with it all enough times. You may also want to check out the iPod in Device Manager...as long as it shows the iPod as having problems, at least in my experience, neither Windows Explorer nor iTunes will let the iPod properly function or is even likely to recognize it.
