Nano Recharging-squeal from headphones/no charge from adaptor

Hooking a new nano (replacement from ea5lier problem) to imac G5 usb, get a loud screech through headphones, but does appear to recharge.
Using firewire with wall charger, does not seem to recharge (the original nano did charge fine)
Anyone see same problem?
Do I need to replace this nano also?

There shouildn't be any need to change the output to dock mode and so there is no way to do so. It should automatically know to route audio through the dock connector when placing on a compatible docking station.

  • Nano -no sound from Bose docking station

My nano plays sound thru headphones but there is no soung when used on Bose station. It is not the station as I have another nano which plays on it. I have sent the problematic nano back to apple but they found no fault.Ant ideas?

I have tried just now, and my Nano works too.
Have you rechecked the volume limit on your Nano?
The docking of iPod is a two ways traffic, manages to get charge does not mean it can transmit the audio signal from your Nano to your Bose, that why I asked you whether you can play your Nano via connecting with your computer.

  • Powermac G5 Squeals, from power supply?

About for the last month I have been hearing squealing from my G5 2.7 Dual in the morning and over my lunch break. The odd thing is it never does it in the evening when I get home from work. This leads me to believe its temperature related because my heat is around 67 until I get home from work which is then 72. Another thing I have noticed is it will squeal whether the computer is on or off. I have put my ear beside the G5 and sounds like it is emitting from the bottom where the power supply is. I am a consumer electronics technician and have the same symptoms on TV's with noisy coils in the power supply, that is helping my theory on the power supply. Has anyone else had this problem or am I one of the few instances, also any help would be appreciated?

    Try running SystemLoad once.

You might try turning off NAP to get rid of the noise.

  • Can I sort my Podcasts on my IPOD, NANO by episode from oldest to newest and if so how?

I have an Apple, IPOD, NANO, purchased in 2009:
Problem: I would like to have a Podcast Playlist sort podcast episodes from oldest to newest broadcast date; I have done so on my P.C. based ITunes player and have synced same to my IPOD NANO; however, when I do so the podcasts on my IPOD NANO are not sorted from oldest to newest; rather, from newest to oldest.
Question Summary: Can I sort my Podcasts on my IPOD, NANO by episode from oldest to newest and if so how?
    Thanks / Ed

You can try changing the the password for your iCloud account that may work.
Otherwise you will have to get him to sign out of Messages by go to Settings>Messages>Send and receive and tap your Apple ID and then tap signout.

how does the 6th gen nano screen view from 2 different positions

Same as the current Ipod Video or "Classic" there is an option under settings to toggle between original aspect ratio or Full Screen.

  • Hi there. My iPod Nano was stolen from my car today. I do know the serial number of this stolen device. Is there any way that Apple can block another user from connecting this stolen device to iTunes?

Hi there. My iPod Nano was stolen from my car today. I do know the serial number of this stolen device. Is there any way that Apple can block another user from connecting this stolen device to iTunes? Also, if another user was to attempt to connect this stolen device to iTunes, would Apple be able to inform of the username of this person in order that I could then pass this information to the police?

No. Apple can do nothing to help. Sorry.

  • My nano arbitrarily moves from playing to paused, with no human interaction

My 1st gen nano arbitrarily moves from playing to paused, with no human interaction. This seems to be worse when it is in my Altec Lansing InMotion speaker, but it happens when it is not in the speaker as well.
    Reset didn't do anything helpful.
It ran out of warranty 2 days ago.
    Suggestions?

I've also tried resetting my iPod nano (2nd gen)and nothing helped with the pausing issue. But one thing that did help for awhile was resetting the nano, deleting the songs and restarting it....

  • My black Nano: discharges and then won't charge via USB

(I'm going to cross post this as I mistakenly replied to a thread in the first gen. nano forum)
    (december 25 2006)
Took a new 8gb black nano out of the box this morning and it looks dead in the water. When it's plugged into my macbook pro via USB, it makes a very faint rapid clicking sound. Nothing comes up on the screen. Attempts to get a spark of life from other computers (iBook, G5 iMac) were fruitless.
Charging, letting it sit, attempts at resetting.. nothing has had any effect.
We'll be bringing it back to an apple store tomorrow morning.
    (december 27 2006)
Ok, a little update. My dad brought the nano down to the apple store (two hours away - he was going to be in the area for work) and purportedly they hooked it up to a wall charger and it fired right up. Started charging and worked. They handed it back to him and he came back home.
When he got home, we tried to power it on: no luck. Reset sequence: no luck. Plugged it into the USB cable: nothing. Tried it on other macs in the house with the same cable: nothing. Finally had the bright idea to try the firewire cable from my sister's older iPod. Wham! Charging, but the nano doesn't support data over firewire. So we let it charge for a little and then plugged it back into my MBP with the USB; now there was both charging and data action. It got all charged up and loaded with music.
Today it came off the USB cable, fully charged, and was used intermittently during the day. I was watching the battery indicator; it seemed to be going down rather quickly. In the afternoon I charged it back to full again and went for a run with the nike+ kit (totally awesome, by the way)
By the end of the run (40 minutes) it was in the red. I plugged it in for a few minutes to sync, and then disconnected it and left it alone.
7 hours later, it's bedtime - and the nano is unresponsive again. Totally dead. No power. Doesn't charge.
I just found the firewire cable and plugged the nano into my MBP using that - charging! It's alive. I'm just going to let it charge all night. We'll see what happens tomorrow after a run in the morning.

There was a power change for Nanos a couple of versions back from Firewire to USB. This means that some car adapters and wall adapters will work with older iPods, but not newer ones.

  • IPod nano 5th generation battery is losing charge

My iPod nano 5th generation battery is losing charge. I do not use this this ipod alot because I have older ipod iPod nano (3rd generation) which I like better. The problem is this ipod gos dead even if I don't use it. This ipod will not shut off and thats why it gos dead.
Is there any way to troubleshoot thlis ipod nano 5th generation to find out how and why it will not shut off, because this should not go dead if your not using it...

The iPod Nano 5th generation does not actually shut off. It "sleeps" by pressing the pause button until the screen goes black. To keep the battery from losing its charge, keep the iPod Nano connected to your computer, wall charger or a charging dock when not in use.
When the iPod is left unattended (not charging), the battery will still lose its charge. This is mentioned in the battery section of the iPod Nano 5th Gen. User Manual.

  • Does the iPod nano come with a means to charge the battery?

Does the iPod nano come with a means to charge the battery?

Yes it comes with a syncing cable that you can connect to your PC's USB ports to charge or you can connect it to an Apple wall adapater (sold seperately).

    Hi, Primmy1.
Thank you for the question.  Below, I have attached a couple troubleshooting articles that will help resolve the device not being recognized by iTunes.

  • Can the voiceover utility on the 6th gen Nano be accessed with headphones other than the Apple earphones?

Can the voiceover utility on the 6th gen Nano be accessed with headphones other than the Apple earphones?

No I have tried and they don't also my iPod touch 2nd generation doesn't work with voice control unless it has apple earbuds plugged in. I guess apple doesn't want 3rd party brads interfering with their company. Thanks please like

The iPod Nano battery will not charge unless you connect it to your computer, to an AC outlet with a wall adapter, a charging dock or an auto adapter/dock.
You battery is always discharging when idle or shut off.  You should read the manual for your model iPod Nano regarding batteries - iPod Manuals
