Narration disappears on dvd

Hi, I`m working with adobe premiere elements 12. I`m making a film with narration. My problem is, when I try to save the project on my computer or try to burn it on a dvd, the narration dissapears. After I`ve noticed it, I tried to save a small project with just a few scenes and just 5 seconds narration, after that the narration was to hear on the dvd. What do I wrong ?
When I want to use smart mix, the programme is overwhelmed and can`t complete the task. Is my projekt too big fort he programme, the film is about an hour?
I`m looking forward to any help. Thanks a lot!

Hallo Mylenium!

  • Multi-language narration tracks for DVD

    Hello --
I am using Adobe Pre 7, and I have a project where I need to create narration tracks in two different languages.  I want the user to be able to select the language track from the DVD menu.  Is it possible, if so, how?  If not, what are my options?
    Thank you for any informations.
    Mike

    Mike,
This is easily done in Adobe Encore, but that program is only available as part of PrPro.
PrE does not allow for multi-language Tracks (or any multi-Audio Tracks, like DTS).
Now, Sony's DVD Architect is highly recommended as a full-featured authoring program, but I do not use it (I use Encore), so do not know if it can handle multi-Audio Tracks. Steve Grisetti, our trusted MOD here, has written the book on DVD Architect, so he will know if it will handle this.
I would strongly recommend accessing the various Audio Tracks via a Menu, though the user can use the Audio button on the remote, it is a nice touch to also give them a Menu.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Disappearing CD/DVD Drive

I'm having problems with my CD/DVD drive. It's disappeared from My Computer. It sometime comes back after repeated restarts but disappears again after a while. It's also not showing up in the Device Manager. I already tried Microsoft's Fixit. I also edited the registry by deleting upperfilter and lowerfilter. None of those solutions work. I tried to re-install the drivers but I can't do that because the CD/DVD drive is not showing up on the Device Manager. The drive is a Slimtype DVD A DS8A1H ATA Device. Can anyone help me? My notebook is a HP Pavilion Entertainment dv2500.

hope this aritic can help u.

  • GB's Disappearing and DVD drive no longer works

I am having a problem after installing Leopard. I installed it and it worked perfectly for a day. I did nothing more than create a few word documents and my storage on my internal hard drive fell from 36 gb left to 18.6 gb left. I restarted my Mac Book Pro and I am now showing 23.45 gb, so I magically got some of the space back, but not all of it. I have tried deleting things off my hard drive and they show a difference in the gb count, but then go back around 23 no matter how much I delete. I checked to make sure time machine wasn't backing up on my local drive and it isn't. I have checked the disk using the disk utility. I have check for viruses using Symantec. Any ideas. Also my DVD player when you insert a DVD just spits it out. Not sure what to do about that either - any help would be much appreciated.

You're welcome - good to hear it's Ok

  • Boot Camp partition data disappeared - No DVD drive

Up until today my Boot Camp partition was working swimmingly.
Today, I was greeted with the "bootmgr not found" error. After restarting into OSX, none of my files on the drive show up (I have Paragon NTFS) pictured below:
It looks like the data is still there, but something in the partition tables/mbr is messed up. If possible, I'd like to salvage the existing data.
To complicate things, I don't have a DVD drive on my MBP. Also, apparently I cannot boot from windows USB keys.
This makes the usual windows boot repair difficult.
My attempted solution, which worked to get windows installed in the first place was to make a new partition, and copy Windows install files to it, but I can't seem to get that to boot, either. I tried using Boot Camp Assistant to prepare the files, as well as unetbootin. I also tried formatting as both HFS and Fat, and copying the files from the windows install disk. I also installed rEFIt, but I just get errors when attempting to boot the install partition.
My last ditch attempt was to rig something through VMware fusion to repair the drive by mounting it as a raw disk,
and loading my Windows 7 ISO to perform the repair, but raw disks don't seem to work well with partitions, and I didn't want to nuke all of my data.
Does anyone have suggestions as to how I might fix this drive, to at least grab some files off of it?
    Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

To clarify, in Bootcamp the " This disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved" error is relating to my OSX boot drive - 128Gb SSD. It currently has ~30gb free. Is there a way I can clone this data, and restore it without a DVD drive, or some other bootable media?
Not being able to create a second partition is on my second drive, 320Gb. Which has 64Gb free. Searching around the net, I saw that resizing a partition to it's smallest possible size is the easiest way to defrag free space in OSX. I did that, and the option to create a second windows partition is still greyed out.
Even if I nuke the existing bootcamp partition, I need another working, bootable partition that I can boot the Win 7 disc from. Not sure what's changed since my initial install, but it seems even more difficult this time.
I'll try using carbon copy cloner on my system partition, and test if it's bootable from USB. I'm running out of Ideas.

Thats not a problem at all dude. The cross mark appears because of Intel Rapid Store Technology. The drive gets disabled and it can be enabled by making right click on it and select 'Enable'. the drive gets disabled if not used for some time and saves energy.

  • Audio from DVD to CD

I need to pull some narration from a DVD to burn onto a CD for a client. We no longer have the original audio. I used MPEG Streamclip to open up the .VOB files, but when I use that program to export the audio I get "error: can't convert sample rate".
The Audio PID is 128 AC3 2/0, which I realize is compressed audio, but that's about all I know. Is there a way to convert this audio in Compressor so that I can burn it onto a CD?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Maybe I should start a new thread, but this still relates to the subject line... I'll close it out after this last question...
OK, now I have my audio from the DVD a Final Cut Pro sequence. I added chapter markers. Export>Using Compressor.
In Compressor, I chose Audio AIFF 44.1:16 (cd quality). I can see my chapter markers in purple in the Compressor View Window. When I open the .aiff file in Quicktime, my chapter markers are not there. Am I missing a setting in Compressor or Quicktime?

  • Why hasen't Itunes been updated from the ground up? I would love to use Itunes as my be all and end all entertainment player. That would include playing hard media such as DVDs and Blu Rays.

I would just like to know why Itunes isn't the be all/end all when it comes to being the center of anyone's home entertainment system?
I would also like to know why Itunes hasn't changed ANY in many years?
    Just curious ...
    Greg

It has changed and it is bloated enough as it is.  Since the early days they have added Ping, Match, Genius, a whole media store interface, concomitant movie playing, the whole syncing business with a multitude of i-devices.
There is no need to add a DVD player since DVD Player stands alone quite nicely as it is.  Additionally Apple is phasing out DVDs (note the demise of iDVD, all software now being downloads only, and the disappearance of DVD drives from newer models) since of course you're supposed to just get your movies from the iTunes Store.

  • Leopard and panther open directory server hate each other

So I got Leopard the first day but didn't install it till a week later 'coz I was working on a Final Cut project. When I was ready to install I saw all these problems people are having and decided to backup all my user files before I do it which I've never done before (what can you say, I trust Apple engineers!) Anyway, after an upgrade install I found that my PowerMac Dual 2.7GHz G5 with 3.5GB of RAM was slow, very slow, crawling slow. Every button I pressed, every app I tried to open, every response seemed it'd take at least 5 mins and Activity Monitor showed that those apps I was trying to interact with were not responding but if I was patient enough to wait, most of them would eventually come around.
After a whole night searching the Apple forum and googling, I couldn't find any solution. So I decided to wipe the hard disk clean and do a clean installation. Amazingly everything worked just as they should and installation only took like 15 mins or so. After I finished installing all my usual apps back into my PowerMac I was, again, busy working on another Final Cut project. And finally that project was concluded so I can look at my new Leopard installation and see if I've missed anything after the clean installation. I found out that I forgot to add my office LDAP server information into the Directory Access and I went ahead and added it.
I was distracted by something else after I added the LDAP info and an hour or so later when I restart my PowerMac, it started to act weird and crawling slow again, just like when I first did the upgrade installation. I totally forgot what I did to make it slow and I was super worry. After like 2 hours of ghost hunting in my PowerMac, I decided to let it sleep for the night and try to figure it out in the morning. On my way home I finally remembered what I did to make it slow! It's the LDAP info!!!! That's the only system related thing I added since before I did the last Final Cut project.
I searched the Apple forum again last night to see if anyone has the same or related problem but I couldn't find anything close. I came to work this morning and decided to test my finding. The PowerMac was still super slow and I figured if it's directory access related, then if I unplug the network cable, my Mac should be smart enough to understand that there is no point in searching for a directory and simply gives up. I unplug the cable and my Mac is up and running smoothly again. I opened the Directory Access app and delete the LDAP entry, restart the Mac, plug the network cable back in and everything is fine now!
I believe the problem is more on my Panther (10.3.9) server (ok fine! we are cheap, we didn't think a Tiger server was worth it! was I wrong!) than on the Leopard itself and that's why I couldn't find anything related on the forum. Is the Panther server LDAP module faulty to begin with that caused the problem? I don't know. I just know that Leopard does not play well with Panther's Open Directory service.

I've convinced myself that all the problems which I'm experiencing with failures to mount, disappearing CD/DVD drives are nothing to do with Windows XP because all my problems are occurring under Windows 2000 (on different computers). Looks like Apple have taken a leaf out of Microsoft's rule book (put the product out in the market before it's ready and let the punters do all the hard work finding and fixing the bugs).

  • Movie within a button

Within a movie, if you mouseover a button, another clip plays
(spinning DVD). However, when you continue to mouseover the button
and reach the spinning DVD inside the button, it disappears. When
you click on the area where the spinning DVD is suppose to be at,
it appears and will be allowed to be dragged and dropped into a DVD
Player to launch a movie clip (flv). Why does mouseover a clip make
it disappear when it is visible during mouseover the button? The
spinning DVD is inside the button area. Thanks in advance for your
help. I'm in the U.S. Army and there is no one else to turn too.
    PLEASE HELP :(

What is the "it" that disappears -- the DVD, maybe the
    button?

Okay. I *think* I know what you're after, but there are a
    number of
ways to accomplish what you've described in Flash, so it
    would definitely
help if you could explain your steps. :)
    > Why does mouseover a clip make it disappear when it is
    > visible during mouseover the button?
This depends greatly (entirely?) on how your clip and button
    are built.
    > The spinning DVD is inside the button area. Thanks in
    > advance for your help.
When you say "inside the button area" do you mean inside one
    of the
frames of the button symbol itself?
I'm happy to help you out, but we're going to need to break
    this down
into clear sub-goals -- then we'll knock each one out, in
    turn. :)

  • Pavilion dv9700 not seeing optical drive as boot device

Let me start from the beginning:
    1) user brought laptop to me, wouldn't boot.
    2) I ran hp diags on harddrive, they failed
    3) I replaced harddrive with off the shelf drive
    4) ordered recovery disk (dvd) from hp
    5) on recipt, tried to boot from recovery dvd:
                 - recieved error "missing ntldr"
                - rebooted, hit F9 to select boot device, only harddrive listed
    6) tried external optical drive, same result
    7) called hp, ordered new optical drive, same result
    Is it dead jim?

I have the EXACT same problem with a DV6815...
My BIOS settings are identical to the OP's...
But when I try to select the boot device, only the HD is listed...
I have swapped out more than a half a dozen drives (drives that I know are good) with the same result.
On 2 of the drives, they worked (IE they were recognized and available when I hit the Select Boot Device screen) but after a reboot, they were gone again..
I have dissassembled the laptop, cleaned the connector real good, but nothing has helped.
I wonder if it could be a BIOS issue???
    Michale
Additional Info:  I got kinda excited because the BIOS version I had was F.30 and I noticed there was a newer version, F.32.  Unfortunately, it did not fix the disappeared CD/DVD drive problem..

Disappearing CD/DVD drives seems to be way too common the last couple of years. You 'might' find that it actually reappears if you start the laptop up once without it, shut down, reinstall it and start up again.

  • DVD drive on laptop disappeared, among other problems.

My laptop (HP Pavilion dv6921la, running Vista) started getting driver errors "without apparent explanation", first, the game controller devices cracked and the axis for movement became permanently tilted to the right. No apparent solution. No explanation for the sudden screw up.
Later, DVD burner stops working completely. I check the drivers and there's a generic CD reader driver that failed to do anything. Coupled with the enormous heat the laptop gave (the fan sounded like a hair dryer), it was time for a reformat.
So I just backed up everything with a measly 2GB SD card and used "reset to factory settings" on the laptop. Started trying apps, reinstalling things, etc. All good, no more horrendous heat, things go faster, drives work, (managed to get a glimpse of the DVD driver on the Device Manager, it was a Pioneer lightscribe drive) but when I plugged my mouse on one of the 3 USB ports it said that "the driver wasn't installed correctly" and whatever I try to plug in that port fails. Windows tells me "click here to check the driver" and it shows said port being stuck on "UNKNOWN DEVICE" and recognizing anything plugged in as such. At least the other ports work correctly.
I start copying a game from a backup DVD so I can try the gamepad. I check the gamepad, doesn't work on the same port. Switch it to the next one and it started tilting again. I unplugged it and tried again and now it worked great.
OK, so I return to the DVD to copy some other things and LOL, the drive again disappeared from the system, in the course of around 30 minutes between I copied the things and returned to copy more.
I system restore'd and it didn't do anything. And the laptop was starting to heat up again. Desperate, I returned to factory settings once again. With the system in a total factory state, I tested the drive: It wasn't there again. The USB port still didn't work. I'm inclined to believe the physical drive has failed, but I don't know what I need to know to pick a new one. (do I have to open the laptop to check what kind of connection uses and all that? Or if you know the in-depth technical specs of this model, can tell me?) And I suppose the USB port is dead, so I'm gonna need an USB hub. (and a cooling system...) If not, any suggestions?
I'm gonna do a last test with a Linux CD.

Update: The BIOS didn't detect the drive, didn't appear in the CMOS setup utility. The laptop was frozen in the startup screen until I removed the Linux CD. Only after that I could boot up Windows.
So I infer the drive is dead. Maybe as a result of the horrendous heat? Right now I'm getting a lot of bad heat by running a small game.
