NAT/PAT Setup with internal web server.

Environment:
Web Server inside and 10 internal workstations.
One external public IP address.
Cisco Router 806 with HTTP server enable.
Conditions:
External users have to be able to access the web server.
The internal users have to be able to access the web server via the "EXTERNAL" IP address. Since they are using an external DNS.
Scenario:
The internal workstation request from external DNS address for the web server.
DNS replies with external IP address.
Workstation attempts to connect to web server via external IP address.
Connection fails at the router showing the router's HTTP logon page.
We are trying to implement NAT/PAT inside, with static assignment to port 80 to the internal web server.
Thanks, Pat Askins.

You need to use cisco NAT virtual interface,
Example:
your internal network web server ip 192.168.1.10/24 Fa0 router Fa1 Public Ip address 1.1.1.1
here is what you need to configure in NAT router to resolve your issue:
int fa0
ip nat enable
no ip redirects
int fa 1
ip nat enable
no ip redirects
ip nat source static tcp 192.168.1.10 80 1.1.1.1 80 overload
ip nat source list 1 interface fa0 overload
access-list 1 permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255
now you can try access to your 1.1.1.1:80 from inside network.

  • External Web Server links to internal web server on LAN - how to configure?

    I'm hoping someone can give me a bit of assistance with some routing configurations:
    Currently, I have a Cisco PIX 515E that's handling my VPN and routing/DNS, etc. I'm dumping the PIX (it's overkill for my organization and it's costing too much money for Cisco-certified techs to come in and still not configure it correctly for my needs - long story).
    Furthermore, an external website hosted with our ISP links to a public IP (let's say 192.x.x.1) that points through the current PIX firewall, through a DMZ, and then to a webserver hosted locally behind our firewall.
    I'd like our Xserve to take over for the PIX, providing VPN access, DNS, etc. and to properly route calls from the web to 198.x.x.1 to the correct server behind out network.
    The Xserve has two NIC cards, one on a public IP 192.x.x.2 (for the sake of this discussion) and one with it's internal address of 10.1.0.2 for file sharing, etc.
    The internal web server also has 2 NIC cards, one that listens for the links to 192.x.x.1, and one that listens locally on 10.1.0.80 for LAN application services.
    How do I configure DNS/etc. on the Xserve to properly channel the incoming calls to 192.x.x.1 to properly reach the server they're supposed to reach?
    Any help is appreciated. If more info is needed, I'm happy to provide.
    Thanks in advance!

    I've read your post several times and I'm pretty sure I understand what you're saying, until the line:
    >How do I configure DNS/etc. on the Xserve to properly channel the incoming calls to 192.x.x.1 to properly reach the server they're supposed to reach?
    Assuming that the 192.x.x.1 address is a real-world, public IP address that the web server is using, you want all requests from the outside world to go to this address, correct? but requests from the inside world want to go to the 10.1.0.80 address on that server?
    That part I get - you want split DNS, which is not trivial to setup, but is manageable. The part I don't get is where the firewall comes in - you're removing the pix and replacing it with an XServe, but the web server has a public IP address in the same range as the XServe's public IP address and on that basis no traffic is going to flow through the firewall.
    So I'm not sure if this is a firewall or a DNS question.
    Split DNS will handle the internal vs. external traffic going to the different IP addresses of your server. You can't use Server Admin to do this (it can't handle multiple views of the DNS), but it is possible to do by hand.
    The firewall element stumps me, though - but if the XServe is going to run as the firewall you might just find it easier to put the web server behind the firewall and forget the whole DMZ concept.
    Then again, you could get the PIX operating correctly - it's a viable firewall appliance and I'd be surprised if it couldn't do what you want here.

  • Problem with iPlanet Web Server 6

    We are getting an intermittent problem with our web server, the users start to get problems connecting to the web site.
    I have found the following message in the error log -
    failure ( 2390): Error accepting connection -5928, oserr=130 (Connect aborted)
    can anybody help???

    Check out the below.
    Problem 4680491. CSS causes oserr=130 in iWS 6.0 logs.
    Workaround
    If you are using the Cisco Content Services Switch (CSS) with Sun ONE Web Server and have set the value of the sticky bit setting in CSS to on, the following error is logged periodically in the error logs:
    failure ( 2210): Error accepting connection -5928, oserr=130 (Connect aborted)
    This is caused not by a defect in Sun ONE Web Server but by the setting of the sticky bit in CSS. To avoid the error logging, set the value of the sticky bit in CSS to off.
    Which as been fixed in iWS 6.0 SP5.

    Dreamweaver does not ship with a web server, you have to
    install one, or activate one on your system (IIS or Apache for
    Widows and Apache for Mac are the common choices). When you define
    a site within Dreamweaver you can specify a testing server, as well
    as a remote server. If the testing server and/or remote server are
    available to your system without an internet connection, then you
    can certainly test pages through the web server such as through
    http://localhost/
    If you are creating HTML pages, then there is no need for a
    server at all for creating and testing your pages, but if you are
    working with PHP or ColdFusion, then you will need a web server to
    work with.
    If you have follow up questions, you should ask in the
    Dreamweaver General forum (general Dreamweaver usage questions), or
    the Application Development forum (questions about dynamically
    generated pages), depending on what you're looking to do:

  • Problem with NAT? can get to web server internally but not externally

    We are trying to setup our helpdesk software website so external users
    can access it. However, we have been unsuccessful. We don't have any
    issues accessing it internally from our 10.1.1.X LAN
    We have had our ISP setup a public DNS "A" record of
    customerservice.amerinet-gpo.com which resolves to 198.88.234.40 and that
    appears to be working.
    Next we added a NAT to our Firewall to take 198.88.234.40 traffic and put
    it to the local IP of 10.1.1.23 which is our local address for the
    webserver running the helpdesk software.
    We also made sure that BM filters are allowing traffic on ports 80 and
    443 to the local IP as well.
    We have 4 other webservers (on a separate servers than our helpdesk
    software website) that are exposed to the outside in this same manner and
    all work fine.
    The helpdesk website is on Windows 2003 server SP1 running IIS 6.0. Our
    firewall server is NetWare 6 SP5 and BM 3.7 SP3.
    I have tried to just telnet to the public IP of 198.88.234.40 on port 80
    and it times out. I can't understand why, and have checked my entries on
    BM and even deleted and re did them 3 times to make sure I didn't make a
    mistake. I even have another web server on that block NAT'd the same way
    and it works (198.88.234.36), if you telnet to it on port 80 it goes
    right away.
    What else can I try? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    SCOTT

    I was really hoping that we had the wrong sub net in BM for the
    198.88.234.32 block! When I read your post last night, I thought that's
    gotta be it...sadly I checked and it does have it as 255.255.255.240 when
    I look in inetcfg under bindings. I even checked our Cisco router as
    well to make sure it had the sub net correct since this is the first time
    I've tried to use an IP above 198.88.234.36. The router looked fine as
    well. Is there anyplace else that this could be wrong, maybe a config
    file on BM or something?
    Thx,

  • Cannot access internal web server from same lan

    i cant resolve one problem in may 1921 ISR router, i have a web server in my internal lan , i set up static nat for accessing that web server from outside and it works fine but i cannot view that site from internal workstations can you suggest me what to do. i need packets to go out the outgoing interface of router and then come back and enter the static nat wich will direct to the web server is it possible?
    static nat is
    ip nat inside source static tcp  <local web server adress> 80 <global address> 80
    also i have set up dinamic nat for outgoing trafic
    ip nat inside source list <access-list> interface <outgoing interface>
    and it is working fine too.
    on external interface i have nat outside
    on internal interface i have nat inside

    This is not working because your router has a direct to your web server that is not through the outside interface which is needed for nat to occur, for this to work you need to setup a loopback interface as nat outside and policy route traffic to there for your server traffic
    Bu if your server is internal why do you need nat at all? Can you not use bind with views that might be simpler

  • Web Service with IIS Web server feasible?

    Hi all,
    we have come up with the following architecture and would like to
    know whether we have mis-interpret anything. We would also like
    to know whether this architecture is feasbile or not.
         java client web page browser requesting for the WSDL
         application / of our web service.
              |
              |
         (Internet)
              |
              |
         Firewall 1 (only allow port 80 traffic)
              |
              |
         Microsoft IIS Web Server with iisproxy.dll installed.
         (hostname : d3dpc1 port number : 80)
              |
              |
         Firewall 2 (only allow port 8100 traffic)
              |
              |
         WebLogic 7.1 Server with a web service deployed.
         (hostname : d3dpc2 port number : 8100)
    Assumed that we have constructed a certain web service through
    the weblogic workshop and the web service page can be reached behind
    the Firewall 2 via the following URL:
    http://d3dpc2:8100/treasuryWebService/FileOperation/FileUpload.jws
    Next, we'd like to access the same web service outside the Firewall 1.
    On our IS web server, we make use of the IIS plugin and wrote an
    iisproxy.ini as follows:
    WebLogicHost=d3dpc2
    WebLogicPort=8100
    ConnectTimeoutSecs=20
    ConnectRetrySecs=2
    WLForwardPath=/weblogic
    PathTrim=/weblogic
    we insalled the IIS plugin accoring to the document
    "Using Web Server Plug-ins with WebLogic Server", starting
    with page 3-3, running through steps 1-7, 9-10.
    As a result, through the web page browser on the
    client machine outside the Firewall 1, we can
    obtain the WSDL through the following URL
    http://d3dpc1:80/weblogic/treasuryWebService/FileOperation/FileUpload.jws?WSDL
    At the bottom of the attached WSDL, we found that it appears as
    <service name="FileUpload">
    - <port name="FileUploadSoap" binding="s0:FileUploadSoap">
    <soap:address location="http://d3dpc2:8100/treasuryWebService/FileOperation/FileUpload.jws"
    />
    </port>
    - <port name="FileUploadHttpGet" binding="s0:FileUploadHttpGet">
    <http:address location="http://d3dpc2:8100/treasuryWebService/FileOperation/FileUpload.jws"
    />
    </port>
    - <port name="FileUploadHttpPost" binding="s0:FileUploadHttpPost">
    <http:address location="http://d3dpc2:8100/treasuryWebService/FileOperation/FileUpload.jws"
    />
    </port>
    </service>
    It presents to us the address is "http://d3dpc2:8100...."
    which is behind two of our Firewalls, which is, in turn,
    cannot be directly accessed by our client applications.
    As a result, if we run a java client applications to our web service by
    making use of
    http://d3dpc1:80/weblogic/treasuryWebService/FileOperation/FileUpload.jws?WSDL,
    we may obtain the WSDL but the subsequent method calls to our web service
    may be blocked. Are we mis-interpreting anything? Is it feasible
    for us to setup an IIS web service in between our client applications
    to our web service like that?
    We are pleased to provide further information, like our simple
    web service code, if not sufficient. Please offer help!

    [FileUpload.wsdl]

    Hi Kenneth,
    You need to modify the file weblogic-jws-config.xml in your workshop project
    folder before you genereate the WSDL file.
    The <hostname> and <http-port> entity below will point to your webserver
    address, in this case it would be: <hostname>d3dpc1</hostname> and
    <port>80</port>
    Here is an example of the XML file:
    <config>
    <protocol>http</protocol>
    <hostname>d3dpc1</hostname>
    <http-port>80</http-port>
    <https-port>443</https-port>
    <jws>
    </jws>
    </config>
    Thanks,
    Ninou Sarwono

  • Reverse Proxy with Sun Web Server 7 update 4

    Hi All,
    I've just migrating to Sun Java System Web Server 7.0U4 B12/02/2008 from Sun Java System Web Server 7.0-Technology-Preview-3 B09/13/2006. I've have the two web servers running side by side on separate machines. Both have a VS configured as a reverse proxy pointing to the same apache tomcat web server.
    The Tech Preview 3 server works fine and has been doing since it was installed. However the Update 4 server doesn't. I can access the tomcat app via the U4 server in a browser, but not with the app on my mobile (sync ML). Snooping the traffic show me that the U4 server is sending a different response that the Tech Preview server. I'm thinking it may have to do with Transfer Encoding: chunked. I've looked around the web to see if I can turn this off in the U4 server, as I seem to recall having to do so at some point in my life, though I can't remember when and with what.
    Does anybody have any clues they can throw at me?? Or anybody know what has change in the reverse proxy part of the web server from Tech Preview 3 to U4??
    Both VS reverse proxies are congfigured exactly the same.
    Thanks,
    Stuart.

    well, technology preview is what the name says .. i am surprised that u decided to stick with a technology preview release all these days.. in any case, there should not have any feature change between technology preview build and U4. but , there has been lot of bug fixes - so, unless we know the exact problem - we can't easily narrow down the change between tp3 build with U4 and find out how it is affecting u.
    here is a related article on how to use chunked encoding within web server 7
    http://developers.sun.com/webtier/reference/techart/chunked_req.html
    now, to help you more appropriately, you need to provide us with errors (probably with log level set to finest within server.xml) and let us know with the error reported by web server when it is unable to send those requests to back end tomcat
    you can set log level to finest by running the following command
    /sun/webserver7/bin/wadm set-config-prop -user=admin --config=<hostname> log-level=finest
    /sun/webserver7/bin/wadm deploy-config --user=admin <hostname>
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4842/set-config-prop-1?a=view
    (once you have identified the problem, you might want to set log level to info as setting to finest will cause your logs to grow humongous and also hurt performance
    thanks

  • Caching problem with iFS web server / index.html

    There seems to be a problem with the iFS Java web server serving cached index.html documents after they have been modified.
    This only happens when the document is referenced by the folder name (e.g. /home/kennu/). If you reference it by the full name (/home/kennu/index.html), the new modified version comes up alright.
    I wonder if this is a bug or some kind of a feature? Is there an quick and easy workaround?
    Byt the way, is this the correct place to post bug reports? I didn't see iFS mentioned in the OTN Bug Database.

    well, this is certainly not an intended effect. i'll look into it. in the meantime, the workaround already posted should pull you through.
    sorry about the inconvenience.

  • Airport Extreme with wired web server Problems

    I am setting up a wireless network with a new Airport Extreme. When I hook it up per the instructions my hard wired web server and PC don't work. My laptops work fine. I put a static IP address on each computer via network prefs. I tried to take the AirPort ethernet out port and use both the cross over and a regular ethernet to the switch then to a wired PC and Mac server. But it will not work.
    Connection that does NOT work: DSL modem - ethernet cable - AP Extreme WAN port - ethernet cable out - web server (live video) & PC
    If I go back to the way it was set before the AP it works fine. (see below) Wouldn't the network be quicker wired from the modem to the AP Wan port? My IP said I shouldn't need to use crossover ethernet cable.
    Connection that works: DSL modem - cross over ethernet - network switch - ethernet to AP Extreme - ethernet to web server - ethernet to PC
    Thanks for your assistance.

    I suggest that you don't try to configure the wireless print server until you have the AEBSn network with USB disk sharing working correctly.
    My expereince with AEBSn disk sharing so far is that it's best to use accounts to secure shared disks. If you can't get the network file sharing to work right off, try this:
    My Network Places>Add a network place>Add Network Place Wizard>Next>Choose another network location>Next>type the following string as the network address and proceed to complete the wizard:
    \\[LAN IP address of AEBSn]\[name of shared disk]
    Example: \\192.168.1.1\MemphisBelleServer
    If you are using accounts to secure the shared disk, type in the User name and Password when the Connect to dialog box appears. I have had trouble using (and no longer use) disk passwords, so I don't know whether that method works the same way with respect to the Connect to dialog box.
