  • Where can I find VI Description & usage for VIs in Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2009\vi.lib\variable

    In the the said folder are many VIs.  They are all part of the NI_Variable.lvlib.    However there is no help or description (context help just shows the terminals and names) for many of these VIs.  Where can you find more 'help' on these VIs, the block diagram is password protected.

    Hi phillman,
    If there is no detailed help in the LabVIEW help, or on ni.com, you will probably need to ask about specific VIs for more detailed information. I would first search the LabVIEW help and the website, however.
    Let me know if you have specific VI questions!

  • Method not found: 'Void National Instruments.LabVIEW.Interop.LV Runtime.throw MissingDependencyException()'.

    Method not found: 'Void National Instruments.LabVIEW.Interop.LV Runtime.throw MissingDependencyException()'.
    My colleague created a Labview DLL for me to use in .NET.
    I have tried getting this DLL to work in 3.5 framework however it only worked on framework 2.0.
    I recently tried again and now it will not work in framework 2.0 or any available frameworks.
    He is using Labview 2011.
    I am a little baffled as to how the application just stopped working. The National Instruments Runtime I am using is Labview 2011, version 1.1.0.0. The labview dll he gave me is using 1.1.0.0 as well. I have tried using 1.0.0.0 and I get an error saying there is a mismatch.
    In addition, for some reason I was never successful in making this work in 3.5, and now I can't make it work in 2.0 either.
    Any help is greatly appreciated. I have tried re-installing the runtime engine, tried different versions like labview 2013 but no luck...
    Everything works except when I call the dll procedure:
    LabVIEWExports.AxBClusterArrays(out ERR, out OUTDLL, INDLL);
    My Code:
    using System;
    using System.Collections.Generic;
    using System.ComponentModel;
    using System.Data;
    using System.Drawing;
    using System.Text;
    using System.Windows.Forms;
    using NationalInstruments.LabVIEW.Interop;
    using InteropAssembly;
    namespace WindowsFormsApplication1
    public partial class Form1 : Form
    public Form1()
    InitializeComponent();
    private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
    InteropAssembly.LVCluster_1 OUTDLL = new InteropAssembly.LVCluster_1();
    InteropAssembly.LVCluster_2 INDLL = new InteropAssembly.LVCluster_2();
    double[] TestA = new double[1];
    double[] TestB = new double[1];
    for (int runs = 0; runs < 1; runs++)
    TestA[runs] = 1;
    TestB[runs] = 1;
    INDLL.A = TestA;
    INDLL.B = TestB;
    NationalInstruments.LabVIEW.Interop.ErrorCluster ERR = new NationalInstruments.LabVIEW.Interop.ErrorCluster();
    MessageBox.Show(NationalInstruments.LabVIEW.Interop.FrameworkVersion.Fx35.ToString());
    try
    //LabVIEWExports LVE = new LabVIEWExports()
    LabVIEWExports.AxBClusterArrays(out ERR, out OUTDLL, INDLL);
    catch (Exception f)
    MessageBox.Show(f.Message.ToString());

    Figured it out, I thought we where using Labview 2011, however it was Labview 2011 SP1.
    Thus i had to install the runtime envioment 2011 SP1.

  • Connecting OPCUDS 2.5 to National Instruments' LabVIEW

    Has anyone had to work with National Instruments' LabVIEW OPC server and succesfully connected to it via the UDS 2.5?
    Currently trying to achieve this and am having major issues with the UDS crashing the LabVIEW service everytime it is started.
    Thank You!

    No experience but it could be because of a large volume of Tags on the server.
    What about any other OPC client?
    I had a nearly similar experience with RSLinx when the UDS seemed to stop responding everytime we started it (it did not affect the OPC server though) and finally what we found was, all the UDS needed was some time to actually establish the connection because of the large number of Tags on the server.

    I have a simple driver that I wrote and posted at

  • Does National Instruments produce a DAQ equivalent of an electronic load for fuel cell testing?

    I am trying to consider my options before purchasing an electronic load. I would like to use LabView software to record and analyze my data that I will be generating during fuel cell testing. I was just wondering if National Instruments produced an instrument similar to an electronic load or a couple instruments that could work in combination similarly to an electronic load. I have looked through the available DAQ instruments on the NI website and it seems that they all output signals too low for my application. The fuel cell I will be using outputs voltage from 0-2VDC and current from 0-4A. I understand the internal workings of an electronic load and realize that the best option would be to implement some sort of variable resistor to act as the load in my circuit, then use DAQ instruments to measure current and voltage respectively. The problem is that the range of my current, especially, is much larger than any allowable input range for any NI DAQ instruments.
    Any input would be much appreciated. Also if you have developed a testing system for fuel cells or other low power DC sources, please share any knowledge and information about how you went about designing your system.
    Thanks

    We used a DC Programmable Electronic Load from AMREL.
    WE used GPIB to talk to each of them The loads ley us set constant current/voltage and let us query the current values etc.

    Hi Kevin,
    I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. I am attaching a zip file with the LabVIEW project, my build specification and my version of "Greatest Common Divisor.vi", which should be the same as the one that you have that ships with the LabVIEW C Generator, but just in case. I am also attaching a zip file with the C files generated by the LabVIEW C Generator.
    You can also see the video I posted earlier with the steps I followed. I hope you are able to point out where I went wrong.

  • Profibus in Labview 2011

    Hi,
    I recently updated my Labview from 2010 to 2011. And then I tried to install the latest Profibus driver (DF_PROFI_II_LV_1.36.2.zip) which I downloaded from (http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2687/lang/en). Release date: 10-10-2011
    Normally, this addon should be installed at the following path (C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\vi.lib\addons). However, I did not find it in the"addons" folder of Labview 2011. Did anyone else ever come to this issue? To solve this issue, should I just copy Comsoft.lib in "addons" folder of 2010 to the one in 2011? Anything else I should do?
    Thanks,
    Zhi
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I t looks like it detected the LV 2010 version as the current one and did not install anything into 2011. You should be able to copy the files over to the same path mentioned.

  • Error in invoking the build rule editor, LabView 2011

    Hi all.  I'm having a problem in Project Explorer.  When I right-click on 'Build Specifications' and select New:Application (EXE), I get the following error dialog:
    "There was an error in invoking the build rule editor. Please check the corresponding provider directory to see if any VIs are broken."
    After this appears, no build specification is created.
    I built this application in LabView 2010 on WinXP and was able to compile and run it sucessfully many times over the last few weeks.
    The problem started yesterday when I had a problem with a Ring control. I right-clicked it and selected "Edit items" or "Properties" the cursor blinked for a moment but the dialog box did not appear.  I removed the Ring control and replaced it with a String control, then when I tried to build the application, I got this error message.  At that time, I also noticed that I could not get a Properties dialog box to appear for any controls or indicators.
    Yesterday, I installed NI Developer Suite 2011 Version DS2. This seems to have fixed the problem with the dialog boxes and I was able to use the Ring control. However, I still have the problem with the build rule editor.
    To determine if there was a problem in my program, I built a new 'Hello World' .vi with just a string control and string indicator. This program has the same problem when trying to build to an .exe.
    Currently, I am trying to remove all previous versions of LabView. When that is done, I will reboot and try to build again.  If that doesn't work, I will remove ALL National Instruments software and re-install NI Developer Suite 2011 DS2.
    I'm hoping someone can provide a solution before it comes to that.
    Two other facts which might be relevant:  I don't have Administrator on this machine, although I could probably get it if I could make a strong case. Also, I can't be sure, but I think the problem may have started when I undocked my laptop from the docking station to go to a meeting.
    I appreciate your help.  Thanks in advance.

    If you need additional assistance, I encourage you to create a new thread. It is more likely to be answered by other users as a fresh post.
    The most likely cause is a corrupted file (or files) in the builder directory.
    I would  recommend renaming/moving the following folders and performing a repair install of LabVIEW:
    \National Instruments\LabVIEW 2011\vi.lib\AppBuilder
    \National Instruments\LabVIEW 2011\resource

  • Labview 2013 missing smtp VIs from Labview 2011

    We are upgrading to LabView 2013 and any VI that we open that uses SMTP is broken. It seems that NI updated the SMTP functionality but do we have to rewrite every VI that was using SMTP to mail emails from our applications? Are the old 2011 VIs avalable in 2013? Two that we use a lot are "SMTP Send Message.vi" and "SMTP Send File.vi". Where can we find these and any others for LabView 2013?

    0utlaw wrote:
    It appears that they've been replaced with the SMTP Email VIs available in Data Communication>>Protocols>>SMTP Email - there's .......  The old functions are still present at <root>\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2013\vi.lib\Utility\SMTP, but don't appear in the palettes.
    That's actually where I went to look for my SMTP e-mails in LV 2012.  The VI hierarchy path for these VI's is LabVIEW 2012\vi.lib\Utility\SMTP\smtpeml.llb  I thought those were the VI's the original poster was looking for and not finding.

    I haven't seen that in 2012.  Maybe that is a new addition to LV2013.

  • Can not find C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\vi.lib\addons

    good monday morning people
    I have the following problem:
    I have a program that uses excel but it wouldn't open when I compile it as an executable.
    I have searched the board because I kind of remember this being an age old problem and I have found a common solution would be to include a couple of files from C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\vi.lib\addons
    This proves to be a problem because I don't even have that folder
    Happy programming,
    Slingee

    slingee wrote:
    I wonder if someone could just send me the _Excel Dynamic VIs
    slingee,
    As chrisger stated, those dynamic VI's are part of the Report Generation Toolkit which you don't seem to have ... so that may not be your problem.
    Wild guess:  Have you copied the projects.xls file from C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW x.x\examples\comm  to the directory containing your executable?
    Check the online help ... it may have changed since LV6.1, but maybe not.

  • Labview 2011 executable does not run on AMD Quad Core

    I have recently bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite with AMD Quad Core- A8-4500M 1.9GHz processor and Windows 7 OS. It does not run any labview executables. It runs on all my Intel machines without any problem. This is the first AMD ever bought (and the last). I need help in resolving this problem.
    When I run an exe on the AMD, under Task Manager\Processes, I do see *.exe process running, but the Memory usage goes up and tops off at 100% and then it returns to 0. It's like a saw tooth waveform of memory usage, as if it's looking for some missing files. I have cleaned up the computer twice now and even a simple Add Two Numbers.exe does not work on this AMD.
    Any clue, anyone? please?

    I believe you are running into the problem described in this KB.
