Native webservice access results in error:  HTTP 401 - Unauthorized

I'm trying to use the native webservice functionallity of the 11g database (11.1.0. 6.0). According to some examples and the XML DB Developer's guide I have performed the following steps:
1: Configuring Web Services for Oracle XML DB
2: Enabling Web Services for Specific Users
3: Defined access to my server via the Access Control List (package DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN)
When I try to access the url http://host:port I'm asked to authenticate. If I log in, I get a file-index.
When I try to access the url http://host:port/orawsv?wsdl I'm asked to authenticate. If I log in, I get the follwoing error:
ORA-29268: HTTP client error 401 - Unauthorized
I don't know what the reason for this error is.

Have a look at Marks example here Testing Protocol Server  WSDL functionality
Check your ACL file, DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN and XDB_WEBSERVICES_XXXX roles for the account you use to connect

Can you run a sniffer tool & see the actual reason for 401 unauthorized error? 6172 weblog: Troubleshooting SOAP, HTTP and Mail Adapter Scenarios with TCPGateway by Stefan Grube...
Generally, 401 unauthorized is when the target system rejects the request...  Also, What type of authentication does the target webservice have.?? B'cos i ran into a similar problem with Ms-Webservice. (they were using NTLM authentication). It works from a browser but not from PI. So we installed SOAP-AXIS adapter to support NTLM based authentication.

    Hi,
Consider the parameters connection pool size and connection wait time:
    ume.r3.connection.master.poolmaxsize
    ume.r3.connection.master.poolmaxwait
These parameters are described in the note below:
#821026 - AdapterEngine messaging URL returns HTTP 401 under high load
Also, ensure you have maintained the correct password, which MUST be the same, for all the service users
on XI. You may check all the places it should be maintained, such as Exchange Profile, SU01, SLDAPICUST, etc..

  • ** HTTP 401 Unauthorized - IDoc to IDoc scenario

    Hi Friends,
I am doing IDoc to IDoc scenario. For the sender side I am using XI adapter instead of IDoc Adapter. Because, we don't have access of third party source (SAP) system. We take the source payload from message mapping and test the same in RWB --> Component Monitoring --> Integration Server --> Adapter Engine XD1 --> Test Message Tab.
After give all the sender details, when I test the scenario, it throws the following error 'Error while sending message; invalid content type for SOAP; TEXT/HTML; HTTP 401 Unauthorized'.
What could be the problem ? Could you kindly tell me friends.

  • HTTP 401 - UNAUTHORIZED. in HTTP TO RFC scenario

    Hi Friends,
I am beginner of XI and trying out HTTP TO RFC scenario referring the blog:
    /people/community.user/blog/2006/12/12/http-to-rfc--a-starter-kit
but got stuck while sending a message from runtime workbench.
I am getting HTTP 401 - UNAUTHORIZED. Please dont mind if it silly doubt. I am beginner to XI and badly stuck up here.
Also to let you know -
In Runtime Workbench > Integration Server > Integration Engine XI1. To the left there is yellow triangle  but all others (BPE XI1, Mapping Runtime xi01 and Adapter Engine XI01)
were green. Is Integration Engine XI1 should also be green? is that causing a problem?
    Please give your valuable suggestions.
    Looking forward for your response.
    Thanks and Regards

    Samuel,
Check out your RFC adapter parameters / user id and password.
Also check whether userid used in RFC adapter has Authorization to run RFC on Remote system.

  • PI 7.0 - Error HTTP 401 when calling XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet

    Hi experts,
I am trying to call a web service, published from our XI system. (SAP PI 7.0 SP 15).
I generated the Web Service & saved the WSDL successfully from Integration Directory.
The whole scenario is well designed and configured, because it had been working well for some time.
I am using XMLSpy to send a request (something that have been working well) but now, we are unable to log on to the system.
It doesnt matter with which user we try to log on. Its simply not possible. It raises a HTTP 401 ERROR.
The configuration channel SOAP SENDER is configured like this.
    - SOAP - SENDER
    - Transport Protocol HTTP
    - HTTP Security Level : HTTP
    - QOF - BEST EFFORT.
    Another symptom
when i call the service http://<host>:<50nn00>/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet (on DEV system) it doesnt work.
    "401   Unauthorized
      Cannot authenticate the user.
      Details:   No details available"
when i call the same service (but on QA system) it works well.
(the calls from XMLSpy work fine, and the interface executes well)
Message Servlet is in Status OK
    Status information:
    Servlet com.sap.aii.af.mp.soap.web.MessageServlet (Version $Id: //tc/xi/NW04S_14_REL/src/_adapters/_soap/java/com/sap/aii/af/mp/soap/web/MessageServlet.java#1 $) bound to /MessageServlet

    ModuleProcessorClass not instantiated
    ModuleProcessorLocal is Instance of com.sap.aii.af.mp.processor.ModuleProcessorLocalLocalObjectImpl0_0

I will appreciate if you could give me some advice, which configuration i need to check, or any usefull information.
    Thanks!
    Cristian.

Hi Supriya, thanks for your reply.
I ve tryed with my user, which is not locked, and also with other users, none of them locke. With SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW profiles. And it didnt work.
The url is something like that.
    for DEV:
    http://myhost:50000/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet
    for QA:
    http://myhost:50200/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet
Since DEV and QA instances are on the same server.
    Thanks.

  • Accessing XI 3.0 exchangeProfile 401 Unauthorized

I am getting a "401 Unauthorized" when trying to access the exchangeProfile page to maintain XI 3.0 Profiles.  I am using userid 'xisuper' and the Roles assigned are
SAP_XI_MONITOR,SAP_XI_DISPLAY_USER, SAP_XI_DEVELOPER, SAP_XI_CONTENT_ORGANIZER, SAP_XI_CONFIGURATOR, SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR_J2EE, SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR, SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR, SAP_BC_AI_LANDSCAPE_DB_RFC and all the assoicated Profiles are assigned.  I am in the install process and I have not installed any patches, just at the step where the installation manual says to maintain exchangeProfiles.  I have also validated 'xisuper' by logging in to SAPGUI in the correct client.  I have also validated that J2EE is configured to access correct client.

    Hi Dan,
Does your own user id have all the roles I mentioned in my last message?
J2EE uses ABAP stack as user management engine so you cannot "import" users into j2ee.
    Please do the following:
    1. In Visual admin tool, under server->services->UME provider, make sure UME is pointing to the right ABAP client.
    2. Make sure in ABAP transaction SU01, your user has SAP_J2EE_ADMIN role.
    3. launch http://server:port/useradmin page, use J2EE_admin to log in. Search your user id, and assign it to role J2EE_ADMIN from there.
    Regards,
    Hart

I wanted to upgrade the firmware, because I was having problems getting to the online properties. I did the powercycling and all,  I would get the error 401 "unathorized access" message. I then downloaded the firmware upgrade to my desktop, then went to the browser and typed in 192.168.1.1 and it asked me for the firmware upgrage and to browse where it was. I did so, and it said upgrade successful. Well then what? I waited and nothing. I then restarted my pc. I still have the same problem. I then did the powercycling again and no go. Is there something else I should try?

  • Error Code 401 - Unauthorized

I am configured the Flight Agency demo and when I run the 'Check Flight Seat Availability' senario and choose a flight I receive the following error.  HTTP response contains status code 401 with the description Unauthorized.
I have all the authorizations in the world to run this program on all clients.  I have regenerated the authorizations and the user compares but all to no avail.  I increase the trace level of the HTTP service to the highest level but I do not see any problems.  I check SM20, SM21, ST22 and ST11 work proces trace files and all show no errors.  This issue is really bugging me as I have spent hours on it.

    Hi,
yes additionally make sure that no user is locked. Make sure in SU01 and also check the administration part of the integration builder. I would also suggest you to double check again whether the passwords in SU01 and exchange profile match exactly. I would suggest to enter these in capital letters.

  • Http 401 unauthorized for domain user

I am having an issue with SCCM reporting. One particular domain user is getting 401 error;unauthorized. The user has the identical rights as the other users (based on security group membership) but gets the error when clicking on reports > create report.
In addition, the user doesn't get the default listing for the reports. Even more peculiar the user can access both the report server and manager URLs.
Win 2008 R2 w/ SCCM 2012 and SQL server 2008 R2 (runs the reporting site role)

What is the Security role of this user? Normally, if you give the proper rights for the user in SCCM console, SCCM will take care the security settings in Reporting Service. Anyway, check the settings by accessing SCCMreportserver/reports
