Navigation Bar - No Rollover

www.crystalhoyt.com
I made the navigation bar by using the navigation bar tool.
Although it says "rollover" image, none comes up. It is loaded
because I use it for the "selected" image too for different web
pages.
Please advise.

You are missing the JavaScript for the navigation bar.
Click any of the images in the navigation bar and look in the
Behaviors Panel.
Double-click on of the Set Nav Bar Images behaviors there and
then click OK in the Set Nav Bar Image window.
This will write the necessary JavaScript to the page.
You will need to do this on all of the pages.

  • I need help importing navigation bars and rollover buttons from fireworks?

I need help importing navigation bars and rollover buttons from fireworks, drop down menus and rollover states won't work!
    Thanks

In my experience, the code created by graphics apps is less than satisfactory. And image based menus are very awkward for several reasons.
#1 If you decide to change your menu later, you must go back to your graphics app and re-craft the whole thing.  After 2-3 times of this, it gets old in a hurry.
#2 Image based menus cannot be "seen" by search engines, screen readers and language translators.
#3 CSS styled text menus are better for your site's visibility, accessibility and they are a snap to edit in Dreamweaver.
That said, if you're still married to image based menus, use Fireworks to create images only. Use Dreamweaver's Image Rollover Behaviors to create your rollover scripts.

  • Drop Down menu for navigation bar

I created a site a couple years ago (with GoLive) with a
navigation bar with rollover states. I would like to create
something very similar to it now in Dreamweaver CS3 but with the
addition of a drop down menu for just a couple of the navigation
icons. I have been told by Adobe tech support on the phone that I
need some custom coding to do this.
To see what the navigation bar looks like now go to
    www.aimeeastvillage.com
I DON"T need the drop down choices to be in a whimsical font.
I just don't want to have to direrct the reader to go to an
additional page. PLEASE tell me this is possible for a relative
    beginner! Thanks.

  • Navigation Bar with Rollovers inside to extend all the way across x-axis

I have a dreamweaver cs4 question. I need to have a navigation bar, that lines up with a background image that DOES not move when scaling the webpages in and out. The images must have rollovers, is there a way to either insert a repeating x-axis image and placing text on top and adding a script element to make the text rollover links?
All I need is a navigation bar with rollover links in the middle that extends all the way to the sides of the page regardless of browers or screen size.
Currently I have a divtag with rollover images and a background image that has the same image as the divtag so it looks like the navbar goes all the way across, but when I zoom in and out the background image or the div tag moves just by 1 pixel making them not lined up. example here: its more evident in google chrome http://www.olympicvalleycapital.com/about.html.
Please help! this is killing me and I dont have much scripting experience so I am trying to do this using the UI elements.
Or is there a way to prevent the background image from resizing when zooming in and out, like a fixed or absolute dynamic to apply to the background?

If you quit using position absolute for a basic layout, you will be amply rewarded.
Going through many of the posts with a similar topic you will find out why.

  • Rollover images on navigational bar items

Has anyone implemented rollover images on navigational bar items to change colors of the images when passed over and out? I already have the images.
From what I can determine, I believe I need an onMouseOver and onMouseOut event defined in my navigational bar entry template that references a javascript function. Then I think I also need two javascript functions defined in the header portion of my page template to get the new image source.
If you have done this could you post the following:
1 - navigational bar entry template, and
2 - the two javascript functions used
My navigational bar entry template currently looks like this:
    <td>
    #TEXT#<img src="#IMAGE#" />
    #TEXT#</td>
    Thanks alot, Andy

  • Navigational Bar Works Perfect In iWeb, But Not Online...

    To whom it may concern,
I am having an issue with the navigational bar working online with my website. In iWeb everything looks and works perfect when tested and all hyperlinks are active, but when it is published the Home page is all that comes up and the Navigational menu will not highlight, show rollover, turn the cursor into a hand, or open the other pages. I have tried to fix the issue, unsuccesfully, by arraging differently, removing the custom toolbar, making sure nothing is layered improperly, etc..getting frustrated and need help.
       The Website is: http://wicked-waters.com/Wicked_Waters/Home.html
    Thank you in advance!

Yes, frustration. iWeb has that effect on people.
Anyway, this is covering the links :
    http://wicked-waters.com/Wicked_Waters/Home_files/WickedWatersCompassWorksOfArts eaweedgrey.png
Move it down and/or remove the white space.

  • How can i edit / customize the font in the navigation bar in iweb?r

how can I edit / customize font size and color in the navigation bar on an iweb created page?

This tutorial may help: #24 - How to Change the Basic, Rollover and Visited Color of an iWeb Navbar.  It only applies to the various colors.
Wyodor has posted code to be put in an HTML snippet that will increase the font size.
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    navDiv = parent.document.getElementById("widget0-navbar-list");
    navDiv.setAttribute("style", "font-size: 1.1em;");
    // -->
    </script>
Increase the size by increments of .1 until you get the size you want.  You'll need to publish the site before you'll see the change.
If you only have a couple of pages in your site you can create your own text based navbar.  That will give you complete  control over font, size, color, spacing, etc. However, be sure to use only  Web Safe Fonts or the navbar will not look like you want it on those computers that do not have the font you used installed. This demo page is an example: Text Based Navbar.  With more than a couplke of pages updating such a navbar can become a real pain.  However, it is much more search engine friendly.

  • Cant see the page links text in my main & side navigation bars

    Hi
I published my site to Mme yesterday and I have noticed a few problems have come up. The main problem is my main and side navigation bars. In the top nav bar you cant see all the page links text, they should show up in white. I can only see them when you roll over the page name (this is in grey) and that is the rollover colour. Not sure what to do to get the text colour to stay white all the time so it is always seen once it's been clicked. It just disappears, but is still there if you roll over it
My side nav bar, the text should also all be white and when you roll over it turns red. For some reason when you click on the page link it turns grey and stays grey. I also want the page links to stay white once clicked on

Please check out my site, you would understand my situation better. I know there are other issues I have to sort out on my site which I am dealing with but this problem with the nav bars have stumped me
    Thanks

I didn't notice anything unusual with any of your links. Their color is set with this file:

  • Combined logo and navigation bar

Is it considered to be poor layout to combine the company
logo and navigation bar in the same image? I have created this
image in Fireworks 8 as a jpeg to keep the gradients looking good
for both the logo and navbar, but am not sure if it makes the page
load any slower by having them in the same image? I do have
rollover buttons on the navbar so I do have to export it as
‘HTML and images’ w/slices. I do find it easier to
setup in Dreamweaver if they are together but could separate them
with some extra work. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

  • Adding Icon Image Elements to a Navigation Bar in Adobe Muse?

I want to add a rollover image in my navigation bar - I want the rollover image to have a dotted line surrounding it and I can't make dotted lines in Muse so I want to make the image in fireworks and import it into my menu. Can this be done and if so, how?!!

You can use fill image for menu items with defined states, regarding dotted stroke line , try this :

  • Nudging text in navigation bars

    Hi
I’m building a vertical navigation panel, and have aligned the text right
But the text sits right on the border of the box, so when the box highlights on rollover, it doesn’t look good
Ideally I need to nudge this text slightly left, so there is space between the letters and the edge of the box, is there a way I can nudge this text?
I know how to nudge text in normal text boxes, but I want to nudge text that has been right aligned in my navigation bar
    Any help much appreciated
    Thanks Musers
    Ben

You can apply right padding from the Text Panel or the Spacing Panel.

  • Changing a Navigation Bar

So I've chose the 'Main Stage' template (I think that's what it's called) and I'm customising it myself. I want to change the colour of the navigation bar and get rid of the footer at the bottom. To get rid of the footer I've just reduced the footer size, is that the best thing to do? And I can cant find a way of changing the navigation bar's colour????
    Help!
    Cheers

Regarding the footer the only way to get rid of it is to set it to zero in the Inspector/Page/Layout pane.
As for the links color, that's all controlled by javascript and not readily doable. Cyclosaurus has posted various javascript bits to use in HTML snippets to modify the links. The only color script I've found of his is to change the rollover color. You can read about it near the middle of this demo page: Misc. Items.
You can have much more control over the navbar by creating your own Text Based Navbar. Deactivate the built in navbar and create a text box with the links in the font (Web Safe Font only). The downside is that you will have to copy an past the text box on each page the first time an any time you add or remove a page.

  • Changing Style Look of Navigation Bar

Ho Cn I change the Style Font or Look of a navigation bar? I;v got a whole buhcn of pages that use different templates... yet I want the nav bar to look the same at the top of each page. How can I do this?

The easiest way is to build your own navigation.
For every page of your site, uncheck the "Display navigation menu" box in the "page" inspector.
Enter your page names in a new text box, create the links, rollover colors & U selection in the "link" inspector and copy and paste to each page.
This way you have your choice of fonts, colors, layout and page position.
You can also duplicate this menu at the bottom of long pages.

  • Navigation Bar Question in Dreamweaver

How do put text on the links in the navigation bar in dreamweaver - this is text the person would see when they rollover the link in the navigation bar

There are two attributes that may be used to place text on a navigation bar in Dreamweaver but I would strongly urge you to not create navigation that is not easy for the visitor to figure out.
The first is through the use of an alt tag thusly:
    <a href="where_this_links_to"><<img src="images/your_nav_image" alt="What_the_link_is" /> </a>
This will be picked up in Firefox.
You may use the title attribute for all other browsers, which will cause a tool tip to appear after a certain hover time thusly:
    <a href="where_this_links_to"><<img src="images/your_nav_image" alt="What the link is" title="What the link is" /> </a>
alt tags are required for screen readers to assist persons without sight and title tags are generally used to make what is not apparent, apparent.
Again, if your navigation is not understandable, your website design should be corrected so that it is.
