Navigation in iweb

Hi. Please can someone tell me how I can create a hyperlink to the top of the page. I can hyperlink to other pages but not to a word on a page.
Thank you

Bonjour
Publish your website
Get the url of your page(s)
insert a link to a external page with the inspector
Inspector > Link > hyperlink > Enable as a hyperlink > link to a external page > paste your page URL > Add #body_content at the end of this link
http://www.yourdomainename.com/yoursitename/yourpagename.html #body_content
Now you have a link to the top of your page.
you can aslo choose #nav_layer or #header_layer
http://www.yourdomainename.com/yoursitename/yourpagename.html #nav_layer
if the navigation menu is above the header
or
http://www.yourdomainename.com/yoursitename/yourpagename.html #header_layer
if the header is above the navigation menu

  • Vertical navigation in iWeb 08 possible?

    I have a website with around 80 entries in the navigation menu, sorted in around 10 upper level groups. iWeb seems to be rather static in terms of placing the navigation. Is there any plugin, addon or workaround someone has found?
    Thanks, Ralf

    Hi Ralf,
    There's no way to have vertical menu generated automatically in iweb sorry.
    Easiest way to have vertical menus: build a textfield containg textlinks to the pages you want to have a link to, copy the textfield and paste it to all the pages it applys to.
    Another way (but maybe not working=>maybe links will open in a new page every time) is creating a css menu and paste it in an html snippet. There are tools on the internet like this one: http://www.webmaster-toolkit.com/css-menu-generator.shtml
    (others: http://www.google.com/search?q=css%20menu )
    Another way you could organize your website is: having a site for every single upper level group so that the nav bar displays the links applying to the group and then make a textfield linking to the 10 groups. So when you add a new entry it gets automatically updated (if you add a new group it doesn't)
    Regards,
    Cédric
    PS: for some of the mentioned ways uncheck the 'show page in navigation menu' box

  • Change the navigation menu in iweb

    I have buy an iweb template that has the navigation menu always fixed. No matter is you move the mouse over the links to the pages, if you are in the welcome page or blog, the text is always the same.
    I have ask to author of the template to make the active page text grayed out but he wants again money because this is customizing request of the template...
    Is there a way to change the color of the text of the navigation menu? It is enough that the active page is highlighted.
    Thank you

    Thank you for the answers.
    If it is possible I don't want create nothing because it complicates the stuffs (I'm a very beginner in this things). I have tried the javascript way but it don't modifies the behavior of the menu.
    Excavating in the iWeb application folder I have reach this file that seems the responsable of the navigation bar: iWeb.app/Contents/Resources/Themes/_Simple\ Info\ orange.webtheme/Italian.lproj/Welcome.webtemplate/com.apple.iweb.widget.navbar. Welcome.plist
    I have open it with Pref Setter:
    .navbar {
    font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, sans-serif;
    font-size: .8em;
    color: #666666;
    line-height: 30px;
    border-bottom: 3px solid #ccc;
    .navbar-bg {
    text-align: right;}
    .navbar-bg ul {
    list-style: none;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 0px;
    li {
    list-style-type: none;
    display: inline;
    padding: 0px 5px 0px 0px;
    li a {
    text-decoration: none;
    padding: 10px;
    color: #666666;
    font-weight: bold;
    li a:visited {
    text-decoration: none;
    padding: 10px;
    color: #666666;
    font-weight: bold;
    li a:hover
    color: #999999;
    text-decoration: none;
    li.current-page a
    color: #66ABC5;
    text-decoration: none;
    I have change the color value but nothing happens. Have you any suggestion?
    Thank you

  • Cursor with plus sign in navigator?

    I have just noticed that when I'm using navigator in iWeb '09, I'm getting a small plus sign attached to my cursor. I haven't noticed this before. It appears when I'm doing something in the navigator, then disappears when I move the cursor over to the web page. Anyone know what it means?
    Thanks.

    You can override the check we do in the UI and manually edit the connections XML file to change the name to whatever you desire.Alas, only white-space and dash/minus signs in mine, I figured colon was bad. (e.g. Group - subgroup1, Group - subgroup2 type names)
    I do have one that is just named as a hostname, with the periods, but I don't see that in the list.

  • IWeb re-creates too many pages

    I understand the difference between "Publish" and "Publish All", but what I don't understand is why iWeb re-creates so many pages when I "Publish". If I work on three pages and then simply "Publish", the darn thing spends five minutes re-creating those three and a half-dozen other pages I didn't touch. Not the end of the world, but kind of annoying.
    Is there something I can do to eliminate this, or can someone at least help me understand why I am sitting and watching iWeb spin it's wheels for so long?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

    The strange thing is that:
    Even when the new page you are working on is in another site in iWeb the publish feature goes through some long process. While no files in the other sites are changed they are 'checked one by one,' making the publish process more tedious than it has to be.
    Since the nav bar is a part of the html code all pages in the site you add a page to must be modified. If you don't wish this to happen uncheck the checkboxes in the Inspector:
    1. Select the page and Open the Inspector
    2. Click on the page icon.
    3. uncheck 'include this page in the navigation menu.' and 'display navigation menu'
    iWeb makes it very easy to create your own nav menu. Just type in some text and select it. Then open the Inspector and click on the hyperlink icon. (Arrow icon) and select 'enable as hyperlink' From the pull down menu choose one of your pages in your site.

  • "Elegant" template - Select header / navigation bar colour ??

    Hey all,
    I'm currently working on an iWeb website for my wedding. We chose the "Elegant" template (the one where you have different coloured headers for different page templates).
    Since our colours are some kind of retro brown and pink, I would like to have the pink header on every page (that includes the top header and the pic behind the navigation menu). However, iweb forces me to use a certain coloured header based on a new page. Since I didn't want to mess with the iweb interface, I decided to publish my website on a folder on my harddrive, overwrite the coloured hearders files with the pink version, using the same name (as a consequence, I have a pink header named "xxxxxyellowtop.png" and "xxxxxxyellowbottom.png for example). Thus, the website displays the right colour on every page. I then use a FTP app to publish it on the internet.
    When I update the content of a page then publish the website on my harddrive again, it keeps the header files I modified, so that works very well. However, on some updates (I guess when I make a change to the navigation menu), iWeb overwrites the modified header file and I have to do the same operation all over again.
    Is there anyway for me to have that pink header on every page of my website, without having to do some trickery ?

    That's the problem with most of the templates, they can't be modified easily or at all. However, there is some code that you can add to change the color of the navbar area. Don't know if it will do what you want but you can certainly try. You have to publish the changes before the color change can be seen.
    See this demo page: Change Navbar Text and Background Color. And guess who gave us the code? Wyodor.

  • Tip: How to link to a non-iWeb page in the main navigation menu.

    I've figured out an easy way to add a link to the main navigation menu which links to a URL of your choosing. For example, I have an older .Mac site using the now archaic HomePage. Instead of rebuilding all of my old pages in iWeb, I thought it would be nice to add a link to the old site from the top main navigation of the iWeb pages. Sounds easy, right? Apparently Apple has other ideas as iWeb doesn't allow you to do this.
    Here's a work-a-round:
    Step 1.) Open iWeb and add a new page to your iWeb site. Pick any template, it doesn't matter which one.
    Step 2.) Change the page name to whatever you want using the page inspector. Whatever you choose as a name here will be reflected in the main navigation menu. For example, I named my page "Photo Archives".
    Step 3.) You don't need to edit this new page at all. In fact, we're going to erase all of the content in it later. Now publish your site.
    Step 4.) If you're using .Mac, mount your iDisk to your desktop. Then navigate through the folders to: Web -> Sites -> iWeb -> <Your Site Name>. If you're hosting your site somewhere else, navigate to your root directory.
    Step 5.) You should now be looking at all of the files which make up your iWeb site. Open the dummy page we created in Step 2 in a text editor. I used BBEdit, but TextEdit (see note below) will work just fine. For example, my dummy page is named "Photo Archives.html".
    Note: If you're going to use TextEdit, you need to select the checkbox "Ignore rich-text commands in HTML files" from the Open & Save pane of the Preferences dialog PRIOR to opening the file from your iDisk.
    Step 6.) Select all of the text (Command-A) and Delete.
    Step 7.) Paste the following text, substituting the URL you want to link to.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><title></title><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://www.mydomain.com/mypage.html" /></head><body></body></html>
    Step 8.) Save the file. You're done! You now have a link in the main navigation which goes to any URL you want.

    Hi,
    I'm OK to step seven but in your example can you highlight or make bold the "url address part " I'm to replace with my own?
    Thanks!
    Step 6.) Select all of the text (Command-A) and
    Delete.
    Step 7.) Paste the following text, substituting the
    URL you want to link to.

  • How can I add a link to an external page to the iWeb created navigation menu?

    I want to add a link to a Wordpress blog to my iWeb created navigation menu.  Dream Host is hosting my site.

    Here's a JavaScript that inserts a link in the navbar
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">

              TheLi.innerHTML = "<a href='http://www.wyodor.net' title='Wyodor&#39;s Homepage'>Home</a>";
              TheLi.classname = "noncurrent-page";
              theNavUL.insertBefore(TheLi, theNavUL.getElementsByTagName("li")[0]);
              // append a LI to the current UL list

  • Iweb navigation bar not working in Internet explorer 8

    iweb 09
    I published my site to the sites folder on my imac OSX 10.6.4
    Built my own navigation bar and the links work fine in Safari & Firefox
    The only portion of the Nav bar that works in Explorer 8 is the Map Navigation which links to an external page (map quest)
    All The links work in Explorer 7 (but none of the images show up)
    Anyone have a solution
    I'm loosing it!

    External links tend to be more robust than internal. Having said that there is no good reason why this should happen in IE V8. I've certainly never had this problem.
    If they definitely don't work for you then try recreating your navigation using the URL for each page.
    What images don't show up in IE 7?

  • IWeb Page Navigational Links not working with Internet Explorer 7

    I'm hoping someone can help me out here? My wife created her 1st website using iWeb. I am testing the sites functionality before we publish it. All the pages and links work fine on Firefox and Safari for windows. However, the page navigational links are not working on Internet Explorer 7. All I see is a dot to the left side of where the page links should be. When I start the site in IE7 I get an Active X script warning and I am asked if I want to allow the script to run; to which I reply yes. After I allow the Active X script the dot to the left side of where the page links should be disappears, but the links do not appear.
    Is there anyway to resolve this? Most of the members of her club have Windows based PCs and are using IE7.

    Yes, Javascript is running on IE7 and other java script applets appear to be working with the exception of the Navbar script.
    It would be great if my wife's friends used a "real" browser, unfortunately 70% of the people on the web use IE7, so this is a real concern if we can't get this to work. I'v seen other iWeb site on IE7 that seem to function fine, so I'm not sure what the issue is here.

  • Iweb 08 installed but now navigation bar and other properties aren't showin

    iweb 06 was working beautifully. Then loaded iweb 08 and published. Now the navigation bar doesn't show in most browsers and other letter shadowing and picture shadowing aren't showing up as well. I've checked to be sure the navigation isn't turn off. I've published all and I've published singularly. Still no luck.
    Help please. Folks can't get to my site and navigate and see how nice it is...
    J.

    More details from another example:
    To illustrate what I see at the PC at work I made some sreenshots from my site:
    http://www.hasselo.eu/photography/Links_files/HasseloEuHome.jpg
    http://www.hasselo.eu/photography/Links_files/HasseloEuGalleries.jpg
    Since I made the screenshots, the site was updated with new content, but the problems are still the same.
    As you can see:
    -Navigation bar missing
    -Reflections missing
    I have no problems with other websites, therefore I assume that this is iWeb related and Apple should produce a fix for this.

  • Iweb navigation links not working

    Hi there i was wondering if someone could help. I have done my website in iWeb 3.04 (601) The navigation links on my website are not working. I have tried turning the navigation menu on and off, it worked temporarily and then stopped. The website is www.cut2fitness.com Id really appreciate if anyone knows what I can do?
    MAny thanks!

    Your navigation is covered by this image which has a lot of wasted space around it...
    You need to crop it down to size. The image is 810 x 862 but the area with the text is only about 350 x 400.

  • Iweb 08 mystery. Adding navigation to my portfoilo pages!

    I used the photo page template from iWeb 06 to create a simple portfolio page with thumbnails that would act as buttons and enlarge the thumbnail when clicked.It worked and it was simple. I recently purchased and installed iWeb 08. When I click on same portfolio item in 08 I get the enlarged thumbnail but also navigation to the other images in the portfolio as well as a download option. Does anyone know how to disable these functions? All I want is the thumbnail when clicked to show a larger pic. Thanks!

    I don't know it you would want to be bothered going to these lengths, but I'll describe what I did last week for a gentleman who makes exquisite miniature paintings and then reproduces them as greeting cards. He didn't like the slideshow either - "too tacky" he said.
    I put 12 large "thumbnails" to a page arranged in two columns. Clicking on either image, of the pair that make up a row, takes you to a new page. This page has an enlargement of the two cards and a description, price info etc.
    All these "enlargement" pages have no navigation menu and, obviously, do not have to be in the main website navigation. When you create this page, name or number it and, in the page inspector window, uncheck "include page in the navigation menu" and "display navigation menu".
    When you are making the link to this page and you select "one of my pages" in the "link to" menu of the "link" inspector, the page will replace the "thumbnail" page in the browser so you will have to add a back button to return to the "thumbnail" page.
    If you select "link to an external page" and check the "open link in new window" you will not have to have a back button as the viewer only has to close the "enlargement" window to see the 'thumbnail window. You will enter the URL for the "enlargement" page into the box in the link inspector. Something like....
    http://www.mywebsite/enlargement1.html
    or in .Mac....
    http://www.web.mac.com/myname/mywebsite/enlargement1.html
    It sounds like a lot of work but it probably took me less time to do it than it took to write this description!

  • Navigational Bar Works Perfect In iWeb, But Not Online...

    To whom it may concern,
      I am having an issue with the navigational bar working online with my website. In iWeb everything looks and works perfect when tested and all hyperlinks are active, but when it is published the Home page is all that comes up and the Navigational menu will not highlight, show rollover, turn the cursor into a hand, or open the other pages. I have tried to fix the issue, unsuccesfully, by arraging differently, removing the custom toolbar, making sure nothing is layered improperly, etc..getting frustrated and need help.

    Yes, frustration. iWeb has that effect on people.
    Anyway, this is covering the links :
