Navigation List and Expression Language

Hi,
I have a navigation list with 3 attributes: id, name, telephone.
I display the name and i want using expression language, based on the selected name value in the navigation list to get the id.
Please note that i have a form that i edit a record and i want to include another view as a navigation list. The id from the navigation list i will pass it using a custom method (dropped as a command button) in my application module to proceed from there on.
How can i do this?

Its two day that i am looking in oracle web site and tutorials that are provided in oracled ADF books.
but i can not figure it out how i can user a Navigation List , view Link to insert record in a child table.
so far i just could create a page that when i change the Navigation List selected item and then refresh that page , the related Fields of child table filled with master table PK.
although i cheched and i saw that ComboBox (Navigation List) auto submit is true.
does any one has a clue about this ?

Action or href and expression language

Hi
I have the following table:

<td>${unit[2]}</td>
<td>${unit[3]}</td>
If a cell is clicked, my servlet should know which cell was chosen...
Now I have two questions:
-can I use ACTION or should I use href to call my servlet?
-how can I return the value form the cell (unit[x])?

Not clear enough.
Different Themes render Tabbed navigation lists in different way. Take a look at the Tabbed Navigation List template on Page 0. You will need to customize this template to achieve what you want.

Working with "tabbed navigation list" widths

I have created a list of type "tabbed navigation list" and added it to a page. I modified the "template" for the page adding a bottom border to the table for the tabbed navigation list.

I would like to make the width extend to 100% of the page, however, I'm unable to control the width either by setting the region width or the template width for the tabbed navigation list.

Hello,
Your Region Template is a table and collapsing down. Remove the region template or change it so the table has width="100%" or change it to Report Region 100% Template if your using one of the builtin themes.

Navigation List

Hi everybody
i am using jdeveloper11.1.1.3.0, in my page i set list of fonts as ADF navigation list, and set input text change font type depend on selected font from list,
navigation list properties (auto submit true / ID) , input text properties(partial Triggers list_Id )

Expression languages and indexed properties

If I have an indexed property of a JavaBean(TM), can I access it via the expression language? For example,

It seems logical that
mybean.foo[0]
should call myBean.getFoo(0)
But the PRD2 spec (5.1.2.1, 5.1.2.2) seems to say no. Is that intentional?

The EL in JSTL 1.0 and JSP 2.0 doesn't support indexed properties. What you can do instead (if you're the one developing the bean) is this:
class MyBean {
public X[] getFoos() { . . . }
public void setFoo(int n, X x) { . . . }
}Now you can access an element of "foos" with ${mybean.foos[0]}

Links and displayed language in navigation and Aggregator Projects

Hi,
maybe someone can help me here. I am currently struggling with several questions and these are two of them:
1. Language of navigation bar and TOC:
I have installed Captivate 4 in German. Still my target group is international so the language in the navigation bar and TOC should be at least English. Unfortunately for the projects I have created so far that is not the case. If I go to one of the navigation buttons, the description like play or rewind will be displayed in German. The same happens in the TOC of my aggregator project. The header is shown in German stating 'Folientitel' instead of 'slide title' or 'Lesezeichen' instead of 'bookmark'. I have translated all the contents of the projects and the names of the modules in the TOC. With the rest that is left I am a bit lost.
My notebooks system language is English. So I am wondering what I can do to adapt these headers and descriptions. Can anybody help me to change the languge here? That would be great.
2. Linking in an aggregator project:
I have created several modules that I put together in an aggregator project. The idea behind it was to support the learners with a consistent overview of content and to make the navigation easier. Now I have realised that whenever I use links between different projects within this aggregator project (e.g. for skipping a module without using the TOC, but just pressing 'next' as a learner or 'skip') the aggregator project is left and the TOC disappears, because the link seems to lead out of the aggregator project file to the single swf- or htm-file of the project. Any idea how I can 'jump' without leaving the aggregator project?
Also once the learner went through one of the modules and went to the next one, the back-button of the navigation bar does not lead back to the modul before. Seems like it stops at the first slight of the current module. How can I adapt the functionality of this automated navigation bar? I mean, can I do this?

Can I just try to give some ideas about you first question (languages)? About the TOC: in the Captivate blog a while ago you can find hints to change the headings in the TOC to whatever language you want. I copy the link here:

Myself I'm creating quite a lot of courses in Dutch, English and French. Just a tip: when I do not have enough time I use Adobe Presenter as a shell to insert the CP-movie(s). This results also in a SWF when publishing, but the TOC in Presenter gets automatically the language of the installed OS on the user's PC. That makes it a lot easier: I also have Spanish-speaking students, do not speak Spanish myself but they can at least have the Spanish titles on the TOC of Presenter.
Your second question: there is quite a lot of posts about it on the forum, I could not help you further.

The easiest way to do this is to define a domain for Gender that maps to
a droplist widget. ForteExpress will then automatically display the
widget in any ArrayWindow or FormWindow in which Gender appears. (I
don't think outlinefields support this widget.) There is a documented
customization for adding SQL to the domain to automatically fill it, but
we've found this to be a performance drag. What we usually do is cache
this type of list information on the client, usually by loading it into
arrays of listelement in a service object at user logon. The list is
then ready to go whenever a window needs it, and you can set the element
list of the droplist in PostOpenInit or wherever it seems appropriate.

Help needed in JSP Expression Language

Hi all,
I have been working for JSP Expression Language Sample execution since past 5 days. I am using the application server as "Jboss Server" and web server as "Tomcat".
I have been included the jsp-api.jar file in my lib directory of application server as well as source folder's lib directory.
When i am trying to build the source code, i am getting this build error.

In my jsp-api.jar , there are two classes called,
PageContext and JspContext, Both are abstract classes.
PageContext inherits JspContext class. JspContext class have the method getExpressionEvaluator() , returns ExpressionEvaluator.
PageContextImpl - class . it has been called internally when we are trying to call PageContext class. In PageContextImpl class, there is one comment before, the method's definition. that is
" Since JSP 2.0 "
But we have the JSP 2.0 version. But it won't work.
Please help me ont this.

Just check that your .jar file is 2.0 compliant and that you do not have any other jars(for servlet or jsp api) in the classpath.
Probably you have an older version of .jar file in your path. So the errors will appear only for those methods that have been added since 2.0, all other methods would compile fine.
Please tell me the jar files to work out the
expression language. so that i can cross check my
list of jars.Hmmm...I dont use jboss. In tomcat the jar file name is jsp-api.jar. But it would have been the same even for jsp1.1, going by jar file names wouldnt help. Just look at your cp as if with a microscope to identify redundant jars.

There was a long discussion on how to make it work. I think I remember somewhere Craig posting that it was going to work but you should search the archives of this list for more info on it. If I remember correctly there were a few issues with using the EL and the expert group did not want to require JSP 2.0 or something like that.

Multiple navigation models and security

Hi,
I want to have 3 navigation models (default, A, B) but I want the "role" AA to have access to the default navigation model + A model (when connected on the portal) and the "role" BB to have the default and B one. I want to have my security here. It could be easy to make it with the page hierarchy, but I want to try it with the 3 different navigations and I'm a bit lost.
I think the answer may be in the visible attribute, but I have tried this and it didn't worked:
For A model inside default navigation:
visible: ${securityContext.userInRole == AA}

That's rather easy to do.
The trick is that you create a reference to an existing nav model from A so it will include the default one.
When you go the administration console and open the configuration tab you can define the default navigation model. For this you can use expression language so you just have to write a managed bean that returns the path to the navigation model.
Something like this:

Delete navigation list

Apex Version - Application Express 3.0.1.00.08
I have a number of navigation lists in an application that I have been working on. I now want to delete some of them but am having difficulty seeing how.
Would anyone know how to do this?

Hi Ben
I'm assuming by navigation lists you mean you have created Lists and want to delete these, rather than wanting to delete a region from a page. To delete the list, if you go to Shared Components > Lists and select the list you wish to delete. On this screen click the Edit List button and there's a delete button on this page. This will delete the list and the list entries.
