Navigation menu - current page = HOW??

I've been pulling my hair out for days over such a simple thing as having a navigation page with page links, and wanting the current page to stand out in the navigation menu (a different style from the other links).
I created a html content layout template to achieve this. In my template (which my page link items use) I have tried to figure out what page I am on. Nothing works at all. I've googled the hell out of this forum and the internet at large, and no go. How do I get the value (url) of the current page? as in http://myserver.com/myportal/mypage/mysubpage sot hat I may compare it to the items destination url?
In my template, I have an if else construct, but since I don't know what to compare my #item.pageurl# (or some such) to, I'm getting absolutely nowhere. owa_util.get_cgi_env is not helping, nothing useful can be grabbed from those headers (just urls for individual portlets or items etc).
I do not administer this server myself, nor do I have access to it other than this one pagegroup through the navigator/builder GUI. My permissions are pretty restricted too I guess.
So is there a simple way to get the url of the page I'm on? Or has someone already done this and I've been at it for naught? Help! :(
Portal version is OracleAS Portal 10g Release 2 (10.1.4)

by saying html content layout template, do you mean that on Navigator, you using html template (in the pageGroups tab/any-pageGroup/html templates) or a User Interface Template (within the providers tab options)?Yes, my page group -> html templates -> HTML Content Layout
I'm using this template to style the page link items in my navigation page (you know, some divs, css and so on), my template looks like this (ignore the if construct owa_util.bla_blah('BLAH'), it obviously doesn't work but it's there to illustrate exactly what I need:
<oracle>
declare
luokka varchar2(300);
begin
htp.p('page_url: #PAGE.EDITPAGE.URL#');
if  owa_util.get_cgi_env('BLAH')='#ITEM.PAGENAME#' then
class:= 'active';
else
class:='nonactive';
end if;
htp.p('<div style="padding-left:15px; font-weight:bold;background-image: url(https://myportal.com/portal/pls/portal/docs/1/1911205.PNG);background-repeat: no-repeat;background-position:left;" class='|| class||'>#ITEM.CONTENT#</div>');
end;
</oracle>
if you are using the first one of them, then try the following to get page_url;
- in the body section of the template, use <ORACLE> </ORACLE> tags-pair to write a plsql code;
<oracle>
declare
v_pageUrl varchar2(50):= '#PAGE.EDITPAGE.URL#';This doesn't give me anything, and #PAGE.EDITPAGE.URL# is not available in the substitution string list. I only have substittion strings that begin with #ITEM
begin
htp.p('page url = '||substr(v_page_url,1,instr(v_page_url,'?',1)-1 )||'<br>');
end;
</oracle>
this should give you the url of the page you are on.
hope that helps!Edited by: Baguette on 25-Feb-2009 09:02

  • Show 2 level hierarchy in Managed Navigation menu(Current Navigation) in SharePoint 2013

    We have enabled Managed Navigation in SharePoint 2013 Publishing Site. Now when a user browses a page we want to show the current page siblings are its parent links in the Managed Navigation. Right now its showing only current page siblings in managed navigation.
    Is there any way to show current page parent links in Managed Navigation menu?
    For example I have a term set enabled for managed navigation with following terms:
    Level1
        Level 1.1
            Level 1.1.1
            Level 1.1.2
            Level 1.1.3
    Level 2
        Level 2.1
            Level 2.1.1
    Level 3
        Level 3.1
    Level 4
        Level 4.1
    Now if a user is on page Level1.1.1 then Current Navigation should show following hierarchy in using Managed Navigation :
    Level 1.1
        Level 1.1.1 -> This node will be shown as selected
        Level 1.1.2
        Level 1.1.3
    Level 2.1
    Level 3.1
    Level 4.1
    Is the above behaviour possible by doing any out of box configuration or using SharePoint designer?
    Thanks,
    Anna Jhaveri

    Ha i was given the same task by my client but they wanted it to be done in client side rather than creating new user control and inheriting from actual control.
    i used Jquery and css to achieve staticlevel 3+  left navigation in sharepoint 2013. first of all let me explain the structure i had created.
    HR department
     -->Level 1
    ---->Level 1.1
    ------>Level 1.1.1
    ------>Level 1.1.2
    -->Level 1.2
     (same as above structure)
    all i did was setting up the staticlevel ="2" and dynamiclevel="3"
    so this would make left navigation with two level  and remaining of its sub sites as flyouts
    Part-1:
    so i used Js to convert all the flyout(dynamic class ) to static $(function(){
    $("ul.dynamic").removeClass('dynamic').addClass('static');$(".dynamic").removeClass('dynamic').addClass('static');  $(".static").removeClass('dynamic-children'); $("#zz12_RootAspMenu > li:nth-child(n) > ul").removeClass('dynamic-children');
    $("leftnavigation ID"> li:nth-child(n) > ul > li.static > ul").removeClass('dynamic-children');              $("leftnavigation ID" > li:nth-child(n) > ul > li.static > ul > li:nth-child(n) > ul").removeClass('dynamic-children')
    $(".ms-navedit-flyoutArrow").removeClass('dynamic-children').removeClass('ms-navedit-flyoutArrow');
    by using this script all the dynamic classes get convert to static. after getting rid of classes call "dynamic" and "dynamic-children"
    second part :
    now we have convert all the dynamic level to static (just look wise) but functionally  its behaviors is like flyout menu items.so the following js adds the static behavior classes so it just functions like static menu
    $(function()
    var path = window.location.pathname;
    path = path.replace(/\/$/, "");
    path = decodeURIComponent(path)
    $("left nav ID" > li > ul > li.static.selected > ul > li > a").each(function () {
    var href = $(this).attr('href');
    if (path.substring(0, href.length) === href)
    $(this).closest('li').addClass('selected');
    $(this).removeClass('ms-core-listMenu-selected').addClass('selected').addClass('ms-core-listMenu-selected');
    else
    $(this).closest('li').removeClass('selected');
    $(this).removeClass('selected').removeClass('ms-core-listMenu-selected');
    How above code works:
    it  takes the url path of current page and compare it with the all the anchor elements href ,so when it finds the match it would go insert the static level class  like "selected" in the <li> and "ms-core-listMenu-selected" in the <a>
    tag so  they function like static.
    so i have done it for 4 levels so i had to put one more function as shown above to target and read <a> tag href values for 4th level and compare it with current page url.
    i didn't explain in detail in here, i'll be writing up again on this issue on  my blog with screen captures soon.
    Till then you can leave comments and questions.
    Disadvantage :this doest work if you have anything listed other then Subsites(pages,list,libraries) in left navigation.

  • Spry Menu - Current Page question

    Hi
    I have a 2 level Spry Menu which is dynamically populated. (http://broke.brokefordwich.com.au)  I am able to add a class to the menu item for the current page. This works fine for the top level items and the second level items. However, I would like to have also highlight the top level menu item for which a second level page is current.
    Can Spry do that ? If so, I would appreciate some hints on how to go about it.

    Hey Ben !
    Thanks for the tip. I will think it thru.
    Isn't is amazing how someone else can have an idea that sparks off new ideas.
    The current page always has a class added to it. The trick is making the parent of a child page have a different class. However, your approach has given me something to think about. I think I have an idea on how to do this easily in PHP - ie: set a class on the parent of an active child. Earlier the first idea I had was an overkill.  Thanks again.
    Cheers from the Hunter.

  • Navigation menu active page color not behaving as it should

    I created an unordered list for the mainnav links. I use the following lines in the code:
    <li><a href="../index.html" class="thispage">Home</a></li>
            <li><a href="#">Events</a></li>
            <li><a href="#">Music</a></li>
            <li><a href="#">Agenda</a></li>
            <li><a href="../Pages/artists.html">Artists</a></li>
    The Home button shows the color for 'active', but if I go to the artists page it first shows the hover color, then the page opens but does not show the active color.... I.o.w. the Home button stays on active though it is not active.
    Please see the effect on my testsite: www.adrianrooymans.nl

    armona22 wrote:
    I'm sorry, but I tried that already, and it does not solve the problem. If I do that I get TWO active pages, but clicking anywhere on the artists page makes the blue color go away, except for the Home button.... I could temporarily put that on the testserver so that you could see what happens (unless you beleive me).
    You will get two active menu items unless the class is removed from the links that you don't want it on.
    If you look at the example page code in the 'completed' folder of the Bayside Beat tutorial you will see on the 'index' page the class has been added to the 'index' link:
    <nav id="mainnav">
          <ul>
            <li><a href="index.html" class="thispage">Home</a></li>
            <li><a href="sightseeing.html">Sightseeing</a></li>
            <li><a href="#">Eating Out</a></li>
            <li><a href="#">What's On</a></li>
            <li><a href="#">Where to Stay</a></li>
          </ul>
        </nav>
    Whilst on the 'sightseeing' page the class has been moved to the 'sightseeing' link:
    <nav id="mainnav">
            <ul>
                <li><a href="index.html">Home</a></li>
                <li><a href="sightseeing.html" class="thispage">Sightseeing</a></li>
                <li><a href="#">Eating Out</a></li>
                <li><a href="#">What's On</a></li>
                <li><a href="#">Where to Stay</a></li>
            </ul>
        </nav>

  • Chinese menues in Pages - how to?

    os x runs in its latest version 10.4.8 in traditionall chinese, but i work won t run in that language. when i press apple-key and "i" to see the languages of the pages.app i see 8 languages, but no chinese. there is a button to add addtional languages, but i haven t figured out where to get them.
    any ideas? please let me know.

    os x runs in its latest version 10.4.8 in
    traditionall chinese, but i work won t run in that
    language.
    Unlike most Apple apps, iWork has never had Chinese localizations. So as Ian said, there's no way to get the menus in that language, unless you could find a 3rd party who had produced the necessary files.

  • Retrieve names of all page items / item types on the current page - how to?

    Is there a PL/SQL function that does this?

    I'm trying to build a page in an application that I will deliver to a company and transfer the responsibility for maintenance to the end user / customer IT team.
    They will be able to add items to the page according to instructions I gave them, these items will be either radio groups, check boxes or select lists, the names of which are up to them and which I don't have any control over.
    I need to store the values for these items in a preference table, keyed off of the combination of USER_ID + PREFERENCE_ID (=item name).
    It would be useful if I don't need to change the "save preferences" PL/SQL procedure every time the end user / customer add a new item.

  • How to print current page in Preview

    Printing in Preview, I don't see an option in the print dialog that enables "print current page", how is that done?
    The reason is that have a 90 page PDF document and the page numbers don't match so I can't just choose to print for example "from page 51 to 51", the wrong page prints (page 39). Both the drawer and the separate pages says the same page number but not when printing.
    Thanks.
    Mac Mini 1,33   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Yeah, I thought so. I find the printing options very limited, across the board. To do things like "print current page" or "print selection" in Preview or Safari should be easy and obvious.
    Thanks for the reply, I'll get Adobe Reader for now.

  • How to render side navigation menu programmatically.

    Hi all,
    I Have standard pages (i.e Customer online pages ) when I navigate one page to another page 2nd page have side navigation menu
    This page is attached as first page in side navigation menu so by default this menu is displaying if I navigate from this page to
    Author pages using keep_menu_context it is displaying to all author pages.
    Now my requirement is I need to go 3rd page from 1st page on that time the menu is not displaying (side navigation menu).
    Thanks in advance....
    Regards,
    Sridhar.

    If I understand your requirement you're looking for something like this: http://deluxe-menu.com/sound-support-sample.html
    Under 10.1.3 using ADF Faces I don't believe there is a component available to achieve this. Potentially under 10.1.3 you'll need to look to a 3rd party Javascript solution. Whether this will work with ADF Faces + JSF navigation is questionable. Potentially others on the forum can comment.
    As an alternative solution under 10.1.3 you may want to look at using an af:tree component instead. It wont be as nice as the solution shown above, but will give you a multilevel menu selection.
    Regards,
    CM.

  • How do I show what menu title is active, e.g. current page, in spry navigation?

    How do I show what menu title is active, e.g. current page, in spry navigation?
    See website http://dorsay-easton-indian-law.com/index.html
    I want to have Home menu title have a different color when on index.html and so on. I keep using the term "active" for that, and "hover" for mouseover. Is that correct? And what do I need to do so that my menu displays an indication of which page is the current one?

    The CSS pseudo-classes in order are:
    a = any link
    a:link = an unvisited link (normal state)
    a:visited = a link after it has been visited
    a:hover = on mouseover
    a:active = on click
    a:focus = reached with tab key

  • I upgraded to version 9 from version 8. The following items do not work properly - menu, home page, navigation bar, wheel click. I backed up to version 8, and none of this stuff works right. How do I fix this?

    When I open Firefox, the bookmark menu is a little tab in the upper left corner. If I go to view and un-click bookmark menu and then view, click it, the standard menu bar shows up. The Back and Forward buttons don't work. The navigation window does not show the URL of the current page. When opening, the home page does not come up. The wheel click works on the bookmark bar, but not within a page. The menu (file, edit, etc) does not work after the first page. Version 8 worked well. When I upgraded to version 9, all this trouble started. I backed up to version 8, but the problem persists.

  • "Reload current page/Stop loading current page" seems to be missing from Navigation Bar customization. How do I get it back?

    I am loading Firefox on a new computer, and I can't find the Navigation Bar button for "Reload current page/Stop loading current page". Is there any way to get it back as a choice under Navigation Bar customization or to create a new function? CTRL-R used to work for this function, but I'd like to have the button on the Navigation Bar.

    View Page Source has been moved to the "Web Developer" sub-menu. You can use any of the following to View Page Source:
    *CTRL+U
    *Right-click a blank area of the page and choose "View Page Source"
    *Firefox button > Web Developer > View Page Source
    *Using the Menu Bar: Tools > Web Developer > Page Source
    *ALT+T+W, release ALT key, letter O key

  • How to make menu-item of current page appear in a different font color?

    Hi,
    My menu-bar works just fine. Hovering the links I get the text to take display the desired color. Now I want the menu-item of the selected page to show a third color.
    With live-code enabled in Dreamweaver CS6, I can see the following code being generated by the Dynamic menu:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="/CatalystScripts/Java_DynMenusSelectedCSS.js"></script><!-- Dynamic Menu Begin CSS Output --><div id="cat_549633_divs"><ul id="nav_549633"><li class="selected"><a href="/home.html">Home</a></li><li><a href="/leistungen.html">Leistungen</a></li><li><a href="/uhrenservice.html">Uhrenservice</a></li><li><a href="/versteigerungen.html">Versteigerungen</a></li><li><a href="/diamanten.html">Diamanten</a></li><li><a href="/ueber_uns.html">Über uns</a></li><li><a href="/kontakt.html">Kontakt</a></li></ul></div><script type="text/javascript">catSetSelectedCSSItem('nav_549633');</script><!-- Dynamic Menu End CSS Output -->
    The class .selected is being created in the first list-item (home) as this is the current page.
    And here is my CSS:
    #nav_549633 {
              float: right;
              list-style-type: none;
              padding-top: 5px;
    #nav_549633 li {
              float: left;
              text-align: left;
    #nav_549633 li a {
              color:white;
              text-decoration: none;
              margin: 0 27px 0 0;
              font-size: 13px;
              text-transform: uppercase;
    #nav_549633 li a:hover {
              color: yellow;
    .selected {
              color: green;
    The font color green does not appear. It is still white.
    In order to see if the class is "working" I tried some other attributes, that DO work!
    .selected {
      color: green;
      padding: 20px
      background-color: blue;
    In this case, the item appears as a blue box with 20px-padding, just as expected - but the font-color is still white.
    Can anyone help me?
    Regards,
    Herman

    Hi Mario,
    Here's the link to my site:
    http://grootaartseuronics.businesscatalyst.com/index.html
    I have found a solution myself for 2 of the 3 questions i had:
    I have deleted/changed this div: #nav_1371057 li li
    And created a few new ones:
    #nav_1371057 li li a, #nav_1371057 li li a:visited (To control the link en visited link colors in the sub-menu other than the root-menu)
    #nav_1371057 li li a:hover (to control the hover in the sub-menu other than the root-menu if nessesary)
    #nav_1371057 li li.selected a (to control the selected link and let the link change color or bolder like in my case)
    Here are the CSS styles I used:
    #nav_1371057 li li.selected a { /*Dit veranderd de dikte (bold) van de geselecteerde link in het submenu, dus de pagina waar je bent*/
    font-weight:bolder;
    #nav_1371057 li li a, #nav_1371057 li li a:visited{
    background:  #006;
    color:#ffffff;
    #nav_1371057 li li a:hover{
    background:  #999;
    color:#ffffff;
    Only thing i can't figure out is how I can change/control the color of the arrow which is black now. And i want to make it blue.
    Thanks,
    Frank

  • How do I put a different image in my drop down menu for my current page?

    Is there a way to put different images or color for each
    buttons in my menubar? And is there a way to have a color to
    identify the current page in my bar?
    Thanks for your time and have a nice day!

    We are looking for "how to do it" answers, instead of "how it

    this forum to others, however, it does not answer any of their
    questions.
    If you do not bother to post something useful, the don't
    waste our time to see your posts!
    Actually what I posted came after searching for an easy
    "how to do it". The closest I found to a tutorial was this:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/spryte_menu.html
    The author designs and implements a spry menu with Fire Works
    graphics. The last section describes how to modify the existing CSS
    for multiple levels. Yet I found the sample page provided above,
    easier to follow than the tutorial.
    I'm sorry if you feel my post was not
    "something useful", and I hope you find the mentioned
    tutorial useful.
