Navigation Model - Type External URL

Greetings everybody,
In my default naviagtion model, I have added a new node with id 'test' and of type 'External Link'.
Following is the code snippet.
<url factoryClass="oracle.webcenter.portalframework.sitestructure.rc.UrlResourceFactory"
id="test" visible="#{true}" url="#{portalUtil.commonview}" >
<attributes>
<attribute isKey="false" attributeId="Title" value="common view"/>
<attribute isKey="false" attributeId="Redirect" value="true"/>
<attribute isKey="false" attributeId="ExternalId" value="commonview"/>
</attributes>
</url>
While running the application it give the following message.
<FolderContext> <processInvalidElement()> Element [test] of resource catalog [default-navigation-model] has been excluded from the catalog due to error [Error resolving EL expression [#{portalUtil.commonview}] Root Cause=[]].
For some reason it not accepting the url="#{portalUtil.commonview}" where "portalUtil" is my custome class with property "commonview".
Is there anything worng or missing, please suggest.

So the URL depends on the environment and does not change on the environment itself?
If you change the navigation model on each environment than those changes are stored on the MDS so it will stay on that environment. I believe this is the best solution. Just edit the nav model at runtime for each environment.

  • Navigate to external URL from secured APEX server

    NOTE I am using the internal Oracle APEX server to host my application, so it may be possible that you will have to be an Oracle employee with the same access, or using a similar setup, in order to respond. Even if you are not, if you feel inclined to "take a swing" at it, keep this in mind.
    Hi all,
    I am using the internal APEX server at oracle to host an application (Application Express 4.0.2.00.07). I have other, NON-APEX applications hosted on other servers within the Oracle firewall.
    On page 0 of the APEX application (which, as you may know, usually displays as the "header" section of every other page in the application) I have created a select list of the other projects and their associated URLs as well as a "Go" button, so users that want to navigate to the other applications can do so from this application. Since page 0 does not seem to allow the creation of standard branch items (please correct me otherwise), I have created a process on that page triggered by the "Go" button. The process currently contains the following code:
    begin
    apex_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
    htp.p('<script language="JavaScript">
    window.open (:P0_PRODUCT_PAGES); <!-- :P0_PRODUCT_PAGES being the URL of the selected non-APEX application -->
    </script>');
    end;
    That code currently replaces the existing page with a blank page and the associated URL is "https://apex.oraclecorp.com/pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept". I am assuming this means that APEX was looking for an application ID and/or page and did not get it so it "stopped" at this page.
    I am unaware if there are any settings on the APEX server, DB,or associated web server preventing me from navigating outside of APEX once I am running the hosted application.
    I would like to launch another properly-sized (default) browser window rather than replace the existing window pointing to the URL for the selected application.
    I have also tried using the owa.util code to try to generate the proper URL but was likewise unsuccessful.
    NOTE: I am not looking for different ways to do this by changing server parameters, settings, etc. since I do not have server rights to do this. Additionally, due to time constraints, I would prefer not to be drawn in to a discussion of the comparisons and/or benefits of owa.util or javascript over the other for navigating to an external URL from within APEX, etc. (I'm not trying to be a "punk", but I AM under the gun to resolve this with very limited time). In light of this, please indicate if you have a working option to do this under similar conditions that I can implement quickly. I have done much research within the forums and Googled extensively for information from outside sources but have not yet found something that will provide the proper results.
    If you are an oracle employee and wish to contact me directly, please email me at [email protected]
    Crossing my fingers and hoping someone has done this before.
    Many thanks in advance; your useful contribution will actually contribute to lessening the world's INSOMINA factor considerably (mostly mine). ;)

    Opening a URL in a new tab or window has to happen in the browser, without submitting the page. The server doesn't know about browser windows. Use:
    onchange="window.open(this.value);" in the HTML Form Element Attributes property of <tt>P0_PRODUCT_PAGES</tt> (making the "Go" button unnecessary), or, if the "Go" button is required to match the LAF:
    onclick="window.open($v('P0_PRODUCT_PAGES'));"in the button Attributes property, ensuring the button is a template button including the <tt>#BUTTON_ATTRIBUTES#</tt> substitution string, e.g.
    <input type="button" value="#LABEL#" #BUTTON_ATTRIBUTES# />Ensure that absolute URLs are used in the <tt>P0_PRODUCT_PAGES</tt> where necessary, specifying the correct scheme for the site, so that you are not trying to go to <tt>{noformat}https://apex.oraclecorp.com/pls/apex/www.google.com{noformat}</tt> for example:
    f?FOO:BAR:&APP_SESSION.    // other APEX app hosted on apex.oraclecorp.com sharing the same authentication scheme
    https://foo.oraclecorp.com // other secured internal site
    http://www.google.com      // unsecured external site

  • Page navigation to external url to submit form?

    I've been gone thru the Sun Studio tutorials and am having a bit of a problem submitting a search form to an external URL. I can easily link the submit button to another jsp page whtin the web application, but haven't figured out how to submit the form to an external url like http://google.mydomain.com:80/search.
    Can a form method & action be specified in a RequestBean?
    Thanks for any feedback on this.

  • To open an external URL from your application

    Hello All,
    Please guide me in below scenario as I am new to SAP UI5.
    I have created a SHELL application with 5 tabs.
    We have a requirement where on clicking of a tab in the application it should open an external url. I am using "link" element of sap.ui.commons library. On press of link to action function I am using below code to open external url content.
    location.href = "http://google.com";
    It is opening in the same tab but I have been navigated away from my application.
    As per the requirement external url content should be opened  without navigating away from my application.
    I am attaching the screenshot.

  • Open external url dynamic link in new tab  (no new window) in Chrome

    Hello,
    We need to navigate to a external link in response to user double-click in a row table.
    We've succesfully created the code to invoking a managed bean as response of double-click user event. For that, we added a clientListener object to the table object, and add the javascript code to queue the actionEvent for launching the backing bean code.
    In backingBean code, we execute code to calculate link url based on several conditions, (e.g: depending on a type object, url is http://server1/data.asp?param=..., or http://anotherserver/miApp/exp.cfm?d=2&p=..., ... and so on)
    Now we have the URL string, we invoke code to open the page in the new tab, but, the new page always is opened as a new window, not as new tab in the current browser.
    We have tried with several code:
    1)
    String script = "window.open('" + sURL + "');
    ExtendedRenderKitService service = Service.getRenderKitService(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(), ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
    service.addScript(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(), script);
    2) String script = "OpenNewTab('" + sURL + "');
    ExtendedRenderKitService service = Service.getRenderKitService(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(), ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
    service.addScript(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(), script);
    and adding the js function in our scripts:
    function OpenNewTab(url){
    var oFormNewPest = document.createElement('FORM');
    oFormNewPest.method = 'get';
    oFormNewPest.target='_blank';
    oFormNewPest.action = url;
    document.body.appendChild(oFormNewPest);
    oFormNewPest.submit();
    This function works fine in others app we have, but when it's invoked inside ADF app, we get a new window insted a new tab.
    We need to open a new tab, doesn't matter the method used.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks, but I also forget I tried before with
    var oTab = window.open(url,"_blank"); //and "_parent", and "_top"
    and doesn't work: The browser opens a new window, not a new tab.
    The same javascript code works fine outside an ADF application.
    Any other idea (using javascript or ADF backing bean code)?
    Regards.

    Hi there,
    same Thread I post in "Portal Developement". Now I try my luck in ths category...
    we implement ESS (ERP2004 with WebDynpros) in our testsystem, but we got an error and don´t know what to do...
    System Landscape:
    - mySAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP17
    - Java Application Server (excluding from HR)
    - mySAP ERP2004 HR-System
    The Connections from the portal runs to the Java-App-Server, not direct to the HR-System (HR-System has no Java Installation and our Customer don´t want a installation, because it could be a bad performance)
    We implement the Jco´s and fill out the usermapping. If we want to call the firstpage of the new ESS-Role we get this error.
    Can anyone help us? Do we need some installations?

    Hi,
    uhm... good question, long time ago...
    Error should be in the JCO-Destinations, where you can choose a targetsystem for each Jco-Destination.
    Since them we installed a java on the abap-system, so we have a doublestack.
    In the Jco Destiantions must be the ABAP-System.

  • Form field to open a external URL passing  the value typed by user in URL

    I am trying to build a text field with a "Go" button beside it so that when a user types in a value (e.g. a bug number) in this text field, it opens up a external URL (e.g. bugdb URL) with the parameter being passed in the URL. e.g:
    P1_SEARCH (Text field): 464666 (value)
    So when I click on the Go button beside it, I want a URL to open in a new browser with the following URL:
    http://xxxx.oracle.com/pls/edit_info_top?report_title=&rptno=:P1_SEARCH (P1_SEARCH should be replaced at the run time)
    I tried using the branching and javascript:popupURL but I was not able to achieve the above mentioned flow.
    Also, I noticed that when I try to create a button in a region selecting the option "Create a button displayed among this region's items", a javascript:doSubmit is automatically associated with it. Is there any way of changing it to javascript:popupURL?
    Can somebody help me to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Finally it's resolved...Following is the solution thought to share in the forum:
    The configuration of the E-Business Suite environment for DMZ requires profile options hierarchy type to be set
    to SERVRESP.
    To change the profile options hierarchy type values to SERVRESP, execute the following SQL script as
    shown below:
    sqlplus / @/patch/115/sql/txkChangeProfH.sql SERVRESP
    After successfully completing the above sql script, run Autoconfig in all nodes to complete the profile options configuration.
    It's resolved after doing this..

  • JSF pages to display content from external URLs

    Hi,
    Is it possible for a JSF page that uses ADF controls, and the PanelPage component to provide menuing, etc. to actually allow a HTML page (accessed via a URL to an external site/application) to be displayed in an area within the JSF page?
    For example, clicking a menu item to an external HTML page results in the page being displayed in a Frame or similar within the JSF page?
    I've tried the FrameBorderLayout control and Frame control to try to embed a Frame to display such a page via the target setting for a menu item, but that doesn't seem to work. At least not when within a PanelPage. It works within a basic JSP page.
    I would have thought it would be possible for a JSF application to incorporate HTML content from other sites/servers as if part of the application. Even if this meant defining "wrapper" pages of some sort to effectively link these into the JSF application as part of it's navigation rules.
    Or am I missing something?
    Gene

    Thanks,
    Yes, using an iFrame tag within a verbatim tag worked, allowing me to specify an external URL to a page which is then displayed at the location where I placed the verbatim tag. I need to investigate sizing/border settings, but at least I now seem to be able to embed such pages.
    This works.
    I tried jsp:include as well, but that only seems to allow relative URLs to pages that a part of the application. And using the c:import JSTL tag would import a page at an external URL, but didn't seem to position it where I wanted it.

  • EL for a specific page in a Navigation Model with a Pages Query

    In WebCenter Portal: Spaces we are using the Default Navigation Model, which includes a Pages Query which shows all the accessible pages for the current space.
    How do I create an EL Expresion that allows me to perform navigation from within a page?
    <af:commandLink text="Link"
    id="cl1"
    actionListener="#{navigationContext.processAction}"
    action="pprnav" >
    <f:attribute name="node"
    value="#{navigationContext.defaultNavigationModel.rootNode.childByIndex[1]}"/>
    </af:commandLink>
    this gets me a reference to the desired page, but only as long as the Pages Query is the first item in the model and my page is at index 1 in the Pages Query. Not very robust.
    Is there any way to refer to a page by its title or something like that?
    I know Business Role Pages in Spaces have a direct URL I could use, but I want to use partial page navigation wherever possible.

    Jaap,
    Can you describe your exact use case in a bit more detail?
    Do you wish to link to a specific page or generate links to all pages (iterating through the pages) in the space? If it is the former, how do you identify the specific page? If it is the latter, consider creating a custom navigation model that contains only a pages query and iterate over this.

  • I am getting "The contents cannot be displayed in a frame" error when tried to acces an external URL configured through launchpad(ESS). How to rectify it?

    Hi Guys,
    We have configured ESS role through launchpad. For viewing payslips we are using an external URL configured through launchpad.
    But when we try to access the configured link in ESS role, it displays "The contents cannot be displayed in a frame" .
    Should I need to change some parameters/settings in Launchpad so that I could overcome this issue.
    Guidance required,
    Regards,
    Ajeeth Kumar S

    Hi Shankar Reddy Chamala,
    Thanks for the alternate solution.
    But the solution you have provided also ended up with the same error
    "The content cannot be displayed in a frame" error.
    Some additional information so that you could help me out,
    The following is the test report .
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK

    Content-Length: 2421

    The tester has mentioned the yellow highlighted property may be a cause for this issue.
    I googled that the highlighted property is set by the website owners for security reasons.
    Shankar I have another doubt..
    Is it feasible to create an HTML document to open the external link and link the HTML document to the iview and then configure the custom iview with launchpad.?
    -->If yes can you please elaborate the steps for it.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Open external URL from Homepage Framework

    Hi,
    We are building our new ESS functionality with Homepage Framework and I need to create some links to external URL. I would like them to open in a different window with no portal header at all. They should appear as services listed in the menu area. While this seems easy, I had tried several things with no success.
    First, I created an URL iview in portal content. I marked the option "launch in external window" to Open in a separate window.
    I create a resource that pointed to this Iview, and linked resource with a "java webdynpro" service, service with subarea and subarea with area. The service link is displayed correctly but it is always opened in the portal page, not in a different one.  Have i forgotten any parameter that would make this work?
    A second approach was to create a resource that includes the URL and an associated service, marked as "Direct URL launched in separate window".
    This succeds in calling the URL in a differeny window but it adds some strange parameters at the end. So instead of calling http://www.google.com it calls  something like http://www.google.com?sap-ext-sid=2J*HeTVW7295w3QWBZhQow--

    rendering=false
    While some pages can ignore those extra parameters, in other cases, this causes a "page not found" error.
    Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
    Many thanks in advance to all.

    Hi Daniel,
    Define Resource: you have to mention all the below details
    1. object name :http:// (url ).
    2.window name: "".
    3.window Property : target="_blank".
    and also check define service:
    service type: Direct url launched in a seperate window.
    And assign resouce to service -
    >
    service to sub area--->
    sub area to area---->
    area to areagroup.
    hope it helps............,
    Thanks,

  • Using EL in navigation model

    Hi All,
    I am using webcenter portal application. I want to check a condition and based on that condition i want to navigate to the specific page, which i think can be done with a bean call from a commandlink on action attribute.
    May i know how to implement this on Navigation model as i dont know how to call a bean on url field of navigation model. Or possibly is it possible to overide the url field on navigation model with a bean method call in action attribute of command link and navigate to the specific page based on the return attribute.
    We are unable to implement the navigation model in our portal, as we dont know how to overcome this.
    Kindly help us
    Thanks
    S. Muthukumaran

    Hi.
    Bijesh is referring to visible attribute of each item of your navigation model:
    <url visible="#{Your EL EXPRESSION}" id="Home"
             factoryClass="oracle.webcenter.portalframework.sitestructure.rc.AdfPageResourceFactory"
             url="page://oracle/webcenter/portalapp/pages/home.jspx">
          <attributes>
            <attribute attributeId="Title" value="HOME" isKey="true"
                       resourceBundle="com.merchan.portal.PortalBundle"/>
            <attribute attributeId="ExternalId" value="defaultMenu" isKey="false"/>
            <attribute attributeId="Redirect" value="false" isKey="false"/>
          </attributes>
          <contents/>
        </url>In visible attribute you can invoke a EL Expression (Manage Bean) to determinate if this item is going to be showed in your navigation.
    If it isn't valid for your requeriment please share more details about it.
    Regards.
