Near Field Communication (NFC) scans into Apex

Hi,
Does anyone have experience integrating to Apex (or other Oracle technologies), via mobile devices using Near Field Communication (NFC)? Links below with more information on NFC: -
http://open-nfc.org/wp/
http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/nfc/index.html
Thanks,
Mike

Hi to All,
I made one VI to transfer information of one file .ini to the tag through NFC.
I share the screen shoot and some information.
I use a DEMO-CR95HF-A evaluation board of ST.com
I hope that the information help you to know the NFC and LabView.
Regards.

  • When is a message considered as received when using Near Field Communication?

    Hi there!
    I'm using Near Field Communication(NFC) in my app(it's a game) and I just want to send very simple messages so the regular NFC tap suffices.
    I've read the documentation and went through the proximity sample and I understand what I've to do to make this work, so no problems so far.
    The thing I'm struggeling with is the following: I would like to send a message using NFC to a particular player in my game.
    Two players are connected to each other and only those two should be supposed to be able to send messages to each other using NFC.
    These messages do not contain any secret information so I can use the "Windows." format as tag to subscribe to and send messages with.
    I came up with the idea to subscribe for a tag that's basically your userId and publish messages with a tag that consists out of your opponents user_id. All of that works fine the thing is, I use the MessageTransmitedHandler and MessageReceivedHandler, the
    one is raised when you've succesfully transmited the message and the other one when you've received a message.
    These callback functions make sure that you only send a message once and receive it once by using the StopPublishingMessage and StopSubscribingForMessage functions. And here's the catch, I only want to call these functions if you actually "consume"
    the message you receive! And stop publishing a message when the correct opponent received it.(This is to make sure that if multiple users are in the same room for example that only the one's related to each other can tap each other's devices).
    Right now the callback function will always stop publishing the message, or subscribing to a message even if you tapped the wrong user.
    I'm not 100% sure but I do believe this is because the callback function is called no matter if the other device really "consumed' the message.
    So my question is, is there a way to determine if the opposing side actually "consumed' the message? If there's no built in function for this(which I think there isn't after I went through the documentation) do you guys have any idea how I could achieve
    the behaviour I want?
    I hope my message isn't too confusing, if it's feel free to indicate that and I'll try to clarify those parts.
    Thanks in advance!
    My best regards
    Jan

    Proximity is a great way for users on tow devices to share your app experience and data. You can establish a connection between two peer apps at one time as I know. This quickstart describe it in detail,
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/xaml/hh465205.aspx. If one user want to communicate with a third user, his app need to connect to that one first.
    If I'm not mistaken this sets up a WiFi or Bleutooth connection, I'm not really looking for that since the message I wish to send is really really short and NFC is perfect for it. It seems like a hassle to me to set up such a peer to peer connection just to
    be able to identify if the message has been received by the correct user.

  • NFC "Near Field Communication" ?

    A buddy of mine has a Nexus Tablet, he is annoying me by continually telling me how much better it is than my iPad2 !!!!!!
    The latest thing he tells me about is his Nexus has NFS "Near Field Communication" where he can transfer photos (for example) from one Nexus to another simply by bumping them together !!!.
    I dont believe my iPad2 is this clever, but can it be done with iPad3
    They do a similar thing with Sony TV's and Sony Mobile Phones.

    Rudegar, but this BUMP  has got to be the next thing
    Bump has been around for two or three years. Unlike simply emailing (something every smart phone is able to do) to send a file, Bump requires that both parties have the app. And, despite having been around for years, I've met very few people who have it installed. So, by the time they download it, they already have the file I emailed them. If it works for you, that's great. But, for me, it's always seemed like a solution in search of a problem.
    Best of luck.

  • Will there be NFC-enabled (near field communication technology) in the iphone5? So I can just click the app and pay with just swiping my iphone5 by the card swiper?

    I really want the app on the iphone5 where we can just click the app and swipe our phone by the card scanner and its paid for or even use it to send a signal to open remote operated cars. Please Im begging you apple. I want to be able to go to Jack in the Box and get my Strawberry milkshake fast! LOL

  • NFC (Near Field Communication) API in FlashPlayer 10.1 !!!!!!

    Go and vote and read more!!
    http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-2909

    User, can you give us a bit more info about the concrete use case?
    In general the is nothing in the current version which helps you with this. However you can use any other application or native device which supports this. ADF Mobile uses phone gap to access devices of the phone, so in general if the phone supports this you should be able to use it in ADF Mobile too.

  • 13.56 MHz Near Field Communications

    Hi,
    this new 13.56 MHz NFC which is suppposed to be "complementary" to Bluetooth. Does that mean we can use the Bluetooth API for communicating via NFC? Or is it part of the JavaCard APIs, or has nothing been developed yet that supports NFC in Java?

    No there is nothing for NFC in Java ... still no API ....
    But there will be.
    Additionally - NFC is considered as a Bluetooth "enabler" - but this is not the original intention of it. NFC can support everything what flies on the 13.56 carrier (ISO14443, Felica, mifare and ECMA340)
    But I'm sure there will be new topic for this.

  • Is it possible to integrate Oracle intermedia search into apex ?(1)

    Or do something similar manually yourself in oracle xe ?(2)
    (1)I've been reading through part of the documentation of the intermedia search, and find it quite intresting. Better to use that if one can, then to have to do that it manually or yourself. But all I read is about JSP and PSP, and I guess PSP's are used by apex, but I was wondering if there was any way, to integrate intermedia search into apex, so that one can lookup say mp3, video files and images and display them in apex as well. Images may take some work but would I suppose be possible.
    However for the other two you need also player software to play both of them. As far as I know this is not integrated into Apex, but could possibly be provided by using the player integrated with a webbrowser, and by linking it to apex. So the browser is launched and plays the video or the audio file or alternatively a player is launched that allows to do that. But correct me if I'm wrong.
    (2) Alternatively I was wondering if one could do this, manually in Oracle XE, but then manually, by making tables with blobs and putting the files in there, and then finding somehow a way to get them played by a player, or to have them be put in a directory, and/or erased from that directory, and modify the player, or let it be activated and controlled by some kind of script to look for new files, and then play them off . Could this be done, by adding a parameter new_file_to_play to a message passed to the player, or the program governing the players behavior ?
    I know this sound difficult, and it probably is, but it would have its benefits. I suppose a simple answer would by, why not use oracle 10g with intermedia search ? Well because although I expect this to be the preferable choice, the license is rather expensive for me, and if I could get a rudimentary version working on XE, even having to do it myself, and writing the code as well,
    it would be ok.
    I just wonder could one not, make a table, with a nr, a blob, and then the specific fields for the specific information of that type, and then use a extraction program that extracts that information from a file, and puts it in a xml or csv file, so that say after the images were uploaded, one can load the details in as well ?
    It is more work, more complicated, and not as easy to use, but it could work I suppose.
    Any comments are welcome.
    Best Regards,
    Floris

    You should be able to add a menu option to Oracle E-Business Suite that just calls out to the URL of your ADF 11g application.

  • Pasting text from Word into Apex Textarea

    Hi Folks,
    I have a client that wanted to transform their Word forms (something like customer survey) into Apex screens.. every thing went great but they noticed that when they try to copy text from the Word forms into Apex textareas some characters will show as an up-side-down question mark. Some characters are the apostrophe , consecutive dots (...) and so on. I don't know what is the best way to handle that, I am thinking about writing a function that escapes those characters for a passed text and add up decoding to it every time users encounter a news bad character..but maybe somebody has a better idea...
    Thanks,
    Sam

    We had the same problem. If you can't update the character set, which is usually a big deal, then you can always use javascript to change the textfield or text area before the user clicks save. We have onchange events on all of our items to catch when an item saves and sets a flag to do an autosave when the click somewhere else in the application. You could use a similar function to translate the characters on the browser before they hit the database.
    If you're going to be searching on this data, you probably don't want to store the special characters anyway. They will have to type in the characters to search and some of the MS characters can be misleading and cause them to not find what they're looking for.
    The array configured_values is a string array where the first index is the bad character and the second index is the value to replace it with
    function madeChange(e)
    { document.getElementById('P0_MADE_CHANGE').value='TRUE';
         if(e)
              var string = e.value;
           //If it is a text-area or a text-field
           if(isNaN(string))
           {  var aux;
              for(i=0; i<(configured_values.length)-2;i=i+2)
              aux= eval('/' + String.fromCharCode(configured_values) + '/' + 'g');
    string=string.replace(aux,configured_values[i+1]);
         e.value=string;

  • Communication between TNS_Listener and Apex Listener

    Dear all,
    I how does the communication between TNS Listener, Apex Listener, and Apex? For some reason I got the following error from Apex listener:

    This occurred when I tried to connect to Apex. Then I can fix this by going to:

    Does the order of whether starting TNS Listener first or starting Apex Listener first matter?

    Hm, I'm not able to reproduce the error. There was one time when I started APEX Listener got:
    java.net.BindException: Address already in use: 8080=com.sun.grizzly.http.SelectorThreadHandler@46d999aand when I did the netstat -a got:
    root@firefly:~# netstat -apnl |grep 8080
    tcp6       0      0 :::8080                 :::*                    LISTEN      4530/tnslsnr  I had no idea what made 8080 tagged by the TNS listener, as I started it out before APEX Listener. Very curious how did this happen.
    There was one time netstat -a showed me this (this happened after I stopped Apex Listener, stopped TNS Listener, shutdown the database, started database, started TNS Listener, and started Apex Listener):
    root@firefly:~# netstat -a |grep 8080
    tcp        0      0 firefly.snowdrop.:22110 firefly.snowdrop.c:8080 ESTABLISHED

    Now I only got
    root@firefly:~# netstat -a |grep 8080
    tcp6       0      0 [::]:8080               [::]:*                  LISTEN
    root@firefly:~# netstat -pnl |grep 8080

  • I recently got a new HP PC 500-267c/64 bit Windows 7 computer. I installed Creative Suites CS5 and I cannot scan into Photoshop? It says I need the Twain Plug In. How do I get it?

    I have a new HP PC 500-267c/ Windows 7/64 bit c omputer. I installed Creative Suites CS5 and I cannot scan into Photoshop.
    It says I need the Plug In Twain to scan into Photoshop and can download it but nothing else. How and where
    do I find the download?

    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/twain-plug-photoshop-cs4-cs5.html#main_Photoshop_CS5_a nd_TWAIN
    There's no 64 bit TWAIN so you need to use the 32-bit version of Photoshop. Personally I'd recommend that you use the scanner software as a standalone application and forget TWAIN, which is rapidly becoming obsolete and more or less abandoned everywhere. All it does is call up the very same scanner software, only from within the PS UI, and tying up Photoshop in the process.

  • HP Officejet 4315 with Windows 7 - How to scan into a .pdf file?

    My Officejet under HP Solutions software worked wonderful at scanning files into .pdf with Windows Vista.  Now that I have an upgraded computer with Windows 7, I've found that HP Solution is no longer available and I have to use the Windows Scan and fax software which is very limited.  It only lets me scan into 4 different file types - .bmp, .tif, .gif and .jpeg.  None of my usual contacts can read and open the files I send them now.  What can be done here to allow me to do business as usual?  The only way around this that I've found is I can scan with Windows Paint and then insert the 'picture' into a word file which I can then convert to .pdf, but the quality goes way down, not to mention my time to do this goes way up.

    OK, only solution I've found is to use a 3rd party program - try cutePDF.
    Thanks for nothing HP!

  • Python script to parse 'iwlist scan' into a table

    Hi,
    I've written a small python script that parses the output of the command "iwlist interface scan" into a table.
    Why ?
    Like many arch linux users I think, I use netcfg instead of something like network manager or wicd. So the most natural way to scan for wifi networks in range is iwlist scan. But the output of this command is huge and I find it difficult to retrieve information. So this script parses it into a table : one network, one line.
    Example output
    Name Address Quality Channel Encryption
    wifi_1 01:23:45:67:89:AB 100 % 11 WPA v.1
    wifi_2 01:23:45:67:89:AC 76 % 11 WEP
    wifi_3 01:23:45:67:89:AD 51 % 11 Open
    wifi_4 01:23:45:67:89:AE 50 % 11 WPA v.1
    wifi_5 01:23:45:67:89:AF 43 % 4 Open
    wifi_6 01:23:45:67:89:AG 43 % 4 WPA v.1
    Details
    It reads from stdin so you use it like that: iwlist wlan0 scan | iwlistparse.py
    The width of the columns is determined by what's in it.
    You can easily do a bit more than just parsing the info: in the example above, the quality has been calculated to percents from a ratio (e.g. 46/70).
    It is sorted, too.
    Customization
    It's python so it's easy to customize. See the comments in the code.

  • Scanning into a MacBook Pro

    How can I scan documents into my MacBook Pro. I am using OS X 10.9.2. I need to scan documents to email to someone and I can't find a way to do that. HI,
    What is your pritner model?
    In the meantime try scanning via Image Capture, if that doesn't work be sure to clarify your printer model:

  • Which Approach?---Scan into JPEGs and then save as PDF or scan into PDF?

    I am now learning to use my Canon Pixma MX870. I installed the full suite of Canon printing, scanning, faxing and whatever else software they provide for this all-in-one.
    There are several different ways you can approach things with this machine which makes it a little confusing. You can do things with a one touch kind of method or you can delve deeper into the menus and adjust lots of settings.
    Right now I am working on scanning documents into PDFs. The Canon software lets me create multipage PDFs which is something I've been wanting to do. My question is, is it best to scan images as JPEGs and then save them as a multipage PDF or is it best to scan into PDF directly (which the scanner seems to offer as well) and then save as a multipage PDF? I'm thinking in terms of the best optimization of file size vs. image quality and things like that.
    Is the scanner actually doing anything differently when scanning into JPEG vs. PDF? Or is the scanning all the same and it's just the saving of the file that is different?
    In general what dpi setting is usually sufficient to use to scan a basic text document without taking up too much file space?
    Thanks!
    Regards,

    Maybe you don't need that. I prefer using Apple's Image Capture for scanning.

    Let the software do it for you. That will be fewer steps for you. Image-based PDFs are going to be large. There is no way around that. If they are too large, you can use Preview's Save As feature and play around with the Quartz Filter.

    Scans are scans. The JPEG file format is lossly and will look worse than other types. If you are scanning in photographs, the JPEGs will look good. If you are scanning in crisp text, JPEGS will have lots of artifacts and look bad.

    I pretty much always keep it at 300 unless I need something special or when the original is really small and I intend to blow it up.
