Neccesary files to distribute a DAQ Application

Hi,
I would like to distribute an application with DAQ functions.
The application is in demo-mode. The vi's with the DAQ functions are loaded,
but they are not called in the program.
I would like to know what files I need (dll's, I suppose) to install and run
the application in a PC without NI-DAQ driver installed (and without an
acquisition card, of course).
Thanks in advance,
Miguel.

Abdullah,
Thanks for your answer.
Miguel.

  • Best practice for distributing/releasing J2EE applications.

    Hi All,
We are developing a J2EE application and would like some information on the best
practices to be followed for distributing/releasing J2EE applications, in general.
In particular, the dilemma we have is centered around the generation of stub, skeleton
and additional classes for the application.
Most App. Servers can generate the required classes while deploying the EJBs in the
application i.e. at install time. While some ( BEA Weblogic and IBM Websphere are
two that we are aware of ) allow these classes to be generated before the installation
time and the .ear file containing the additional classes is the one that is uploaded.
For instance, say we have assembled the application "myapp.ear" . There are two ways
in which the classes can be generated. The first is using 'ejbc' ( assume we are
using BEA Weblogic ), which generates the stub, skeleton and additional classes for
the application and returns the file, say, "Deployable_myapp.ear" containing all
the necessary classes and files. This file is the one that is then installed. The
other option is to install the file "myapp.ear" and let the Weblogic App. server
itself, generate the required classes at the installation time.
If the first way, of 'pre-generating' the stubs is followed, does it require us to
separately generate the stubs for each versions of the App. Server that we support
? i.e. if we generate a deployable file having the required classes using the 'ejbc'
of Weblogic Ver5.1, can the same file be installed on Weblogic Ver6.1 or do we
have to generate a separate file?
If the second method, of 'install-time-generation' of stubs is used, what is the
nature/magnitude of the risk that we are taking in terms of the failure of the installation
Any links to useful resources as well as comments/suggestions will be appreciated.
    TIA
    Regards,
    Aasif

Its much easier to distribute schema/data from an older version to a newer one than the other way around. Nearly all SQL Server deployment features supports database version upgrade, and these include the "Copy Database" wizard, BACKUP/RESTORE,
detach/attach, script generation, Microsoft Sync framework, and a few others.
EVEN if you just want to distribute schemas, you may want to distribute the entire database, and then truncate the tables to purge data.
Backing up and restoring your database is by far the most RELIABLE method of distributing it, but it may not be pratical in some cases because you'll need to generate a new backup every time a schema change occurs, but not if you already have an automated
    backup/maintenance routine in your environment.
As an alternative, you can Copy Database functionality in SSMS, although it may present itself unstable in some situations, specially if you are distributing across multiple subnets and/or domains. It will also require you to purge data if/when applicable.
Another option is to detach your database, copy its files, and then attach them in both the source and destination instances. It will generate downtime for your detached databases, so there are better methods for distribution available.
And then there is the previously mentioned method of generating scripts for schema, and then using an INSERT statement or the import data wizard available in SSMS (which is very practical and implements a SSIS package internally that can be saved for repeated
executions). Works fine, not as practical as the other options, but is the best way for distributing databases when their version is being downgraded.
With all this said, there is no "best practice" for this. There are multiple features, each offering their own advantages and downfalls which allow them to align to different business requirements.

  • I'm trying to distribute a DB Application using the Instant Client provided

    Hi!!
I'm trying to distribute a DB Application using the Instant Client provided by Oracle.
I've checked the FAQ of Oracle and says the Instant Client supports all existant versions of Oracle.
But I've also seen in another posting that the oci.dll needs the same Oracle version file it was created with.
I need to distribute an application that provides all the 8i, 9i and 10g versions.
Do I have to distribute the oci.dll for each version?
I just wanted to check if this was true.
One more question, when I uncompress the Instant Client, many files appear from which
I only left oci.dll, oraocci11.dll and oraociei11.dll and erased them all, but the program
    still works. Is it ok?
    thanx

I am not sure what you mean if you say that you "need to distribute an application that provides all the 8i, 9i and 10g versions".
If you mean that you want your application to be able to access Oracle Databases of versions 8, 9 and 10, then you can use Instant Client 10.2.0.4 which is able to connect to all of them.
If your application does not need more than the three DLLs you mention to run, that should be fine.

I'm not very familiar with MATLAB, but you are getting link errors most likely because you aren't linking in the .LIB files for NI-DAQ properly. They are nidaq32.lib and nidex32.lib in the NI-DAQ\lib directory. They need to be linked in with the code to resolve these symbols.

  • Best/Easiest Practice for Distribution of Webhelp files for Fat(ish) Client Application

So another in my long line of questions in trying to change the implementation of the help systems at my new employer.
So, the pressure is to convince the existing guard to toss out the old method and go with a new method... One of the issues has come up for CSH Webhelp (via RH10)...
Apparently, in the old method (where every help topic was it's own CHM - no, I'm not kidding).  They kept it that way so that any time a help file was updated, they could just send out that one chm to update that one topic.
Now they are worried that if we switch to webhelp using topics in one single big project that we can't just send out a single updated file any more...
So I'm trying to get ammunition as to how updates to the help can be distributed without it being a big hassle...
We do have small updates that go out about every week, and they are afraid that going to the webhelp (1 project with lots of topics) method will require more time and effort for the techs because they will have to complete the update of a huge help system every time.
One solution we have suggested is that we only update help files on major releases and add any changes to help procedures in the Release Notes or in a separate PDF and also include a note that the help files "will be updated to reflect this change in the XX/2015 XYZ Release).
Does ANYONE have any other ideas of how distribution could be done efficiently so that we don't have to continue this "project per topic" fiasco?
    HELP!!! PLEASE!!!!

Amebr - you hit the nail on the head... i want to apologize to everyone for all this mass hysteria...but this has been a freaking rollercoaster... one day they are happy with the plan, the next day they decided they want to complicate it more... So now my job is to find out how viable and how tricky and perhaps how dangerous it will be to send out JUST the files that have been changed.  Especially for CSH!
Anyone have any experience with this or have any advice?  Peter?  I suspect you might know how this might work... are they any pitfalls to watch out for.. I just have this fear of sending out a few files from an entire project... Altho, it appears when I publish, ONLY the files that have been edited in some way show a new date.. that includes non-topic files - so i'm assuming sending all those will keep the TOC, Index, and Search features working properly... as well as incoming and outgoing links from an edited topic?
Another question would be how to handle new images in a project... as the image folder tends to be the largest, i don't want to have to send the entire image folder... Thoughts...????  Advice?  Jeff? Peter? Amebr? Bueller?  Bueller?  Bueller....?
THANKS!Best/Easiest Practice for Distribution of Webhelp files for Fat(ish) Client Application
OH... and Jeff... my apologies for the misnomer of using the term "Fat-ish" client in reference to this... I totally misspoke and should have said Mobile App... but in my mind, any time you have to download something to use it, it's a fat client... sorry!  :-/

  • [Windows] file.url throw error when application executable in root directory

Here is the bugbase ticked: Bug#3940278 - [Windows] file.url throw error when application executable in root directory
If you launch AIR application packaged as bundle from root directory and try to get url property of any file you get IllegalOperationError.
No matter what file url property you try to get.
It's a big problem when you distribute your application on CD disks or flash drive.
I'd like to ask everyone affected by this issue to take a minute and vote for the following bug.
    Thanks.

I checked all deployment descriptions and there are no references to t3://localhost:7001. Few months back, I had the complete clustering setup working on 2 machines and now when I deploy my application on same configuration, it fails with t3://localhost:7001 unreachable error. I created a new cluster configuration on one machine with 2 managed server and it deploys fine. Can not figure out what has changed ?

  • Distributing an AIR application on CD

I'd like to distribute my AIR application on a CD. Many of my users will also have limited or no internet access. It's very unlikely that my target users will have Adobe Air installed, so I would like to make it as easy for them to get started as possible.
Is there a way to make an AIR install badge install AIR from local media? (Probably not) What alternatives exist, assuming instructing the user step-by-step is not an option?
Cross-platform is critical, and the AIR file is very large so I would prefer to only include it on the CD once (rather than twice- once in an InstallShield .exe installer, and once in an .pkg Installer package.)
I have applied for a redistributable license but have not received word back yet.

    1. After getting the redistributable license, download the installation files, and prepare the installation via a sidecar method (It first checks for runtime presence, if not present installs the runtime and then installs your application). It does runtime and application installation through a single interface and simultaneously
    2. Prepare the Mac and Windows installer versions in similar ways, and prepare a hybrid cd using Toast or similar application
    3. The same .air package can be installed on Mac and Windows, only your sidecar runtime installer will change for the MAC/WIN Hybrid CD
    4. I have tested the above with an .air file of size 900MB, It works fine
Still any issues u can revert

  • Distribute Java jar application in Optical Disk with private JRE

I am trying to ship my Jar application using DVDs and need the user just to run an exe and launch the program. So I have written a batch file which runs the jar using the private JRE shipped in the same DVD.
Now when I run the batch file from the DVD it takes over one minute to launch the application because JRE is in the DVD as well.
When I copy the JRE in hard disk and use that in my batch file to lauch the program it runs fast. However I wouldn't the path where the user copies the JRE in his hard disk. How would I detect the same in my batch file ?
Even Launch4J takes same time as batch file.
If I anyway have to ship JRE and ask the user install first ,how does batch file know the installed jre location if JAVA_HOME is not set. it would start using the jre in DVD and slow down. Anyway to make sure JAVA home is set to begin with ? May be 1st time if Java home is not set it copies to jre to C drive and then next time onwards it launches using the same Java home? What do you suggest
    [cross post |http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13372969/distribute-java-jar-application-in-optical-disk]
Note I am using JDK8 , which is only developer preview now am I allowed to ship it in my DVD ?

I wouldn't do that. Even if it is allowed, which I doubt, you're shipping unfinished and potentially dangerous software. I would also stick to the runtime only if I were you.I know, Sorry I meant shipping JRE only not JDK.
My answer to your main question is: yep, its a tough problem and you're not going to crack it without special measures. One such special measure is to generate an installer using one of the many installer generators you can >find with Google.Yes I thought about installers but it would copy my jar and resource files to hard disk which I don't want to avoid piracy. Is there any way to access the rest of the files from DVD directly ?
PS. My DVD vendor promisssed that he would burn them such a way that whole thing can't be copied to hard disk or imaged, I am yet to verify this.

  • How to store multiple files from SAp in to Application server?

    Hi Guys,
Can anybody tell me how to store multiple files from SAP into Application server.in my application i have to get the data from SAP tables BSEG , BKPF , BSAK and BSIK that to daily i have to do.
Any Logic  or Code for how to do is welcomed.
                        plz help me urgently.
    Thanks,
    Gopi

    Hi,
directories creates basis. If you have task to store data in application server you already should have information into which folder you have to do it. If you don't have this information because it is just for example training for next task then you can use your personal folder into which you have access. To get list of all available folders please look at attached code and form get_directories (you get the list of folders you see in transaction AL11). But don't forget: If you are using open dataset you have to have rights to access application folder!
Here you are code which I use to upload text files from local disc into application folder

    Hi Arbind,
Just realize... when you run it in foreground, you have a foreground to capture the file location. so it runs fine..
but when you are running it in background, there is no foreground to check that is no gui present... how can it check where the C:\.... location is??
no need of reading any oss note... just see.. the name is cl_GUI_FRONTEND_service.. its only for front end..
u need open dataset, read dataset, close dataset kind of things while running in background. or RFCs to read the file... (search SDN).

  • Files from FTP server to Application server

    Hi All,
I am new to SDN and SAP XI, can anyone tell me whether its possible to move the files (different strcuture files i.e. some are master data files and some are transaction data file) from FTP server to Application server with one interface. Actually the process is already established at clientsite for placing master data files like product, plant etc from FTP server to App server through FTP adapter. Now my requirement is to move transaction data file with completely different structure as master data to App server. If we place these trasaction data file in same folder/directory as master data files does SAP XI pick this file also. If not what are the steps I need to follow to achieve this. I know that if we create new configuration it will work but I question is does master data interface picks this transaction data file also.
Right now our process for master data files is SAP XI picks the files and deletes the file from FTP server folder. The master data file names are plant_attr.csv, product_attr.csv etc and transcation data file name is salestrasactiondata.csv. I need to move these files to application server on daily bases.
    I appreciate your help .
    Regards
    Bob.

    > I am new to SDN and SAP XI, can anyone tell me whether its possible to move the files (different strcuture files i.e. some are master data files and some are transaction data file) from FTP server to Application server with one interface.
    Hello Bob,
    Yes it is possible.
There can be two ways of doing it.
    1. N:1 mapping, BPM will require for this.
    N:1 Mapping refer this blog
IDOCs (Multiple Types) Collection in BPM
    BpmPatterns CollectMerge
part1  BPM with Patterns explained Part-1
part2  BPM with Patterns explained Part-2
    Second option
Create 3 scanarios in integration directory and correspondingly in integration repositoy create different data types, message types, mappings & interface mappings and then in each of scenario us different message interface and interface mapping.
    > I know that if we create new configuration it will work but I question is does master data interface picks this transaction data file also.
    >
If you are using N:1 scenario then use *.csv in your sender adapter under file name parameter and then all the files will be picked up from same directory.
If you are using second option (3 different scenarios) then also you can pick the different files from same directory. You will be having 3 sender adapters in this case, So, one for picking master data, and another for product data and the last one for transaction data.
So, in case of master data use "plant_*.csv" as a file name and directory name.
In case of product data, use "product_*.csv " as a file name and source directory will remain same.
similarly do it for transaction data.
So by this way all 3 sender adapters will perform their job to pick the different files from same source directory.

  • How to create different log files for each of web applications deployed in OC4J

    Hi All,
I am using OC4J(from Oracle) v1.0.2.2 and Windows2000. Now I want to know
    1. how to create different log files for each of my deployed web applications ?
    2. what are the advantages in running multiple instances of oc4j and in what case we should run
    multiple instances of OC4J ?
    3. how to run OC4J as Windows2000 Service rather than Windows2000 Application ?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kumar.

    Hi Avi,
First of all I have given a first reading to log4j and I think there will some more easy way of logging debugging messages than log4j (If you could provide me a detailed explanation of a servlet, jsp, java bean that uses log4j and how to use log4j then it will be very helpful for me). The other easy ways (if I am not using log4j) to my problem i.e creating different log files for each of web applications deployed in oc4j are
I have created multiple instances of OC4J that are configured to run on different ports and so on each instance I have deployed a single web application . And I started the 2 oc4j instances by transferring thier error/log messages to a file. And the other way is ..
I have download from jakarta site a package called servhelper . This servhelper is a thread that is started in a startup servlet and stopped in the destroy method of that startup servlet. So this thread will automatically capture all the system.out.println's and will print those to a file. I believe that this thread program is synchronized. So in this method I need not run multiple instances of OC4J instead each deployed web application on single instance of oc4j uses the same thread program (ofcourse a copy of thread program is put in each of the deployed web applications directories) to log messages on to different log files.
Can you comment on my above 2 approached to logging debugging messages and a compartive explanation to LOG4J and how to use LOG4J using a simple servlet, simple jsp is appreciated ...
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ravi.
