Need a cookbook

Is there an example somewhere that shows, step by step how to login to lite? I had to come to the discussion board to find the scott,tiger,odbc:polite login (jeez) I will read a step by step but don't know where to go.
what is the password for system and what should be in host?
I just want to use lite for a college course to do an overview but need to be able to grant privledges to allow me to create and use a database.
Please point me in the right direction...
Thanks

In the time I tried some variations and ended with this:
// creating compound Object
iErr = sAIArt->NewArt( kCompoundPathArt, kPlaceInsideOnBottom, firstLayerArtHnd, &newArtHnd);
// inserting "Masterobject" (path wich surrounds the children)
iErr = sAIArt->NewArt( kPathArt, kPlaceInsideOnBottom, newArtHnd, &childArtHnd);
// creating and inserting children
iErr = sAIArt->NewArt( kPathArt, kPlaceInsideOnBottom, newArtHnd, &childArtHnd);
iErr = sAIArt->NewArt( kPathArt, kPlaceInsideOnBottom, newArtHnd, &childArtHnd);
iErr = sAIArt->NewArt( kPathArt, kPlaceInsideOnBottom, newArtHnd, &childArtHnd);
at least the result looks like what it should. It's a pitty that there ist no sample how to do it the right way from adobe. Or have I overseen it in "SnippetRunner" in the CS4 SDK. Would be a good place. I will add a request for the CS-Next Thread taht we need codesnippets for every function of the API (like it was in one of the very first SDKs of Freehand. They had a big word dokument which provided such stuff for every function).

  • Re; iMovie'11 and Lion OsX 7.2.1 I need quality exported movie on a flash drive.

    I shoot with a Nikon and pride myself in crisp clear images with as perfect color saturation as possible.
    I edit in iPhot. I do not shoot in RAW very often so my images are jpg
    These I use in all iMovies and do not do video.
    PROBLEM:
    Whenever I export the movie to a flashdrive or to mobile me gallery the resulting copy is totally unappealing
    as it is faded, blurry and not exactly like the photos I had edited and worked on for who knows how many hours to create the iMovie.
    I am very picky and want it perfect.
    I need to know the exact steps to take to get a perfect replica of what I viewed on my iMAC...the movie I reviewed countless times before I am ready to export, burn copy or whatever.
    WHAT steps has anyone found that are flawless and will render a perfect copy to place on a flashdrive or upload to mobielme gallery.
    Do you use Quick Time and if so what setting do you click. The options are from custom to HD to all sorts of sizes.
    I need a cookbook that works.

    Format the flash drives with Disk Utility in ExFAT format.

  • Integration of TREX/Enterprise Search

    Hi,
    is it possible to integrate TREX/Enterprise Search into a web dypro application? That means the user can put a search string into an input field in a web dynpro application, the request goes to the TREX and the result will be shown in a web dynpro table.
    Are there any documentations? How to handle this? I couldn't find anything to manage this.
    Thanks.
    Regards, Susanne

    The ABAP Dictionary F4 Search Helps (transaction se11) are supported by Web Dynpro ABAP in the same way as with SAP GUI.
    Note that the function module TREX_EXT_SEARCH_DOCUMENTS is an SAP internal interface.
    It is not released for customer use, i.e. you cannot claim SAP support for your implementation.
    Instead you should use a released search framework, that resides on TREX.
    For details read SAP note 1254901 - SES for customer projects on TREX search
    If you need a cookbook, how to include your specific search help into a standard F4 search help, you can refer to SAP note 1345777 (FAQ SES), chapter 8.

  • 'Weird' Terminology: rigs, snapshots and checkboxes/My odyssey, to create a simple drop-down menu ;)

    The Preface
    I'm a hobbyist! "Daddy does movies", enthusiastic about the -zillions of features, tools like FCPX and Motion5 offer! I'm no designer, no engineer, no 'pro'. My goals are sky-high, results more down-to-earth
    This is no request for help, just to share my … quest for a 'simple' effect. Or feature… Or box.-
    In hope, it helps YOU to solve your problems…
    The Issue
    Simple: I wanted to create my very own 'title' template for FCPX. Concept: a lil' animation, the two teams logos reveal a lower third, showing the actual score. Plus, an insert showing the scorer (=my kids love to see themselve in such 'sports graphics' )
    Usually, I 'manufacture' such graphics as single Motion-Projects. This time, my goal was a template, my kids slaughtered in the first season's game the other team by 11:1 (which is in soccer…  a goal-fest) To 'built' each Title manually as individual Projects would spend too much time. I needed a template! … so, step #1: using a Dropzone for opponents logo - easy. Animating - been there, done that, easy.-
    But that 'show players face&name' … 18 team-members… wouldn't it be nice to have some 'drop down menu'?
    How to accomplish that?
    The Manual, with all respect, is written for experts. Describing ALL options in one sentence. I need a cookbook, step-by-step-instruction … My preferred source of imagination, MacBreakStudio/rippletraining/Mark Spencer, hasn't done a tutorial for 'drop downs' yet.-
    My guts told me, it has something to do with 'rigs' …
    The Rig
    I dragged my folder with player-pics into my Motion5 project; there, I could check/uncheck each player. But I wanted these 'boxes' avail in FCPX, I wanted to 'publish' this check-list. Trying 'tis&'tat, I noticed, I can apply to the opacity of each player-pic a Rig. And a Checkbox-rig - hey, that close!!
    … soooo?
    No 'checkbox' in FCPX after publishing my title. No list after publishing to FCPX! What have I done wrong?
    The Snapshots
    I was confused by the meaning of  'snapshot'! … and since it made "ping!" in my head, it's so simple:
    As I would done it in a 'manufactured', single Motion project, I have to select each team-member, create a New Snapshot, set opacity to show only this player; create another New Snapshot, showing a diff. player. … and so on, and so on.
    … for sure, for convenience I renamed each Snapshot to each Player's name…
    In my amateurish mind, I had the imagination, Motion5 would offer me a 'behavior' (or 'filter' or whatever) to create checkboxes; or drop-downs; … uhm, well it does, but for me the work-flow is back-to-front: first creating a status-quo, then tell 'this is option#1/#2/#3' … I had the idea, you can select first an 'empty box', then drag its content into it. I've learned: professional don't tic this way.
    Eighteen Snapshots later …
    The Result
    After publishing my hand-crafted Title, it appears like that in FCPX:
    The Dropzone is to apply the actual contestants team-logo; the 'Title' is the score, just type the number; and - finally! - I had my drop-down-menu, listing all players,  for simple selection.- Me happy … !
    In movin' images:
    http://youtu.be/wIeu1cVMu94
    As mentioned before: the design isn't meant to win a price; and most probably, there are 'shorter ways to Rome' … so, if any of you 'pros' like to comment or recomment a 'better', in terms of 'easier' way, don't hesitate to teach me!
    K.

    Motion-guru Marc Spencer from rippletraining.com has an episode upon Rigging at MacBreak Studio
    MacBreak Studio - Episode 151: Setting up a Rig in Motion 5 for Final Cut Pro X
    … I'm no expert (as you notice in my first post ), but I'm really overwhelmed by the endless options, esp. in correlation with FCPX… on first sight, 'rigging' looked like 'bundled color sliders' to me, but by creating your very own drop-down menus you can create extremely powerful tools, handcrafted for your very own needs.
    For sport-reports, with its tons of statistics and inserts, you can create a box of 'title genrators' - once done, multiple times used, and extreeeemly fast then.
    … And when a 'nnob' like me manages it, it is really no rocket-science…
    Kudos to the DevTeam at Cupertino!!!

  • Need cookbook for iPod environmental cover task

    Folks:
    My aim is to have my iPod Nano 1st Gen do this job: Play some "cover" noise as steadily and gaplessly as possible so I can listen and sleep through the night in some noisy hotels, etc.
    I'm a computer professional with access to standard Mac tools (GarageBand, Final Cut Express), but I have no idea how to do this, and maybe my terminology isn't very good,either. Can someone point me to a cookbook and/or tell me how to do this in reasonably small steps, please?
    Starting with a CD of that contains 1 hour of environmental sounds (rain), I want to isolate the "best" (most steady) rain segment --probably about 15 minutes-- and splice it together as seamlessly as possible. Transfer the result to my iPod and play in "repeat" mode.
    I'm told that the "stock" 1st Gen iPod can't do gapless playback. OK, if so, is it possible to adjusting the gap to be minimal? Using fades to minimize the effect of gaps? (Experiments show full-volume to silence to full-volume is NOT good for sleeping!) It's also OK to minimize gaps by recording longer segments. Experiments seem to indicate a practical 30 minutes length limit on segments for Garage Band. That's not enough. I'm willing to devote a significant portion of my iPod storage to this purpose, ideally one 8 hour segment. Even 2 hour segments would be decent.
    Variations: If there's an alternative source for high quality rain noise, I'd like to hear about it. As long as I'm wishing out loud, the most restful noise I can imagine is steady, hard rain on a metal or plastic roof. I have a Mac program that will play white or pink noise on the audio output, and that's pretty decent cover noise, but I don't know of a way of piping the output to anything usable to get it to the iPod.
    TIA,
    Henry

    ok I'm going to bite the bullet and do the database route. I'm going to attempt this via derby since it's built in to eclipse.JavaDB (Derby) comes with the JDK, so this choice works even w/o Eclipse.
    Apparently this is going to be easier, although add work to re-creating the datalayerEasier that flat files? Hmm... YMMV. I suggested a real database because it's super useful to know how to do this. Flat files less so.

    now I need to figure out how to update/delete the records and add an image (which should just be a stored field)A couple tips:
    1. Always use PreparedStatement over just Statement.
    2. get something simpler up and running before adding images. Images are binary data, and to INSERT binary data
    you would use method setBinaryStream:
    [http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/sql/PreparedStatement.html#setBinaryStream(int,%20java.io.InputStream,%20int)]

  • New to InDesign: things I need to know before starting my 200-page book?

    Hi there (second time attempting to post this; sorry if both somehow end up on the discussion page—this version is my most recent)—
    I'd practically completed a 180-page cookbook—lots of photos and recipes, instructions and comments—in Apple Pages ('cause I'm on a Mac and Pages seemed pretty straightforward) when I realized that not being able to see the book in a facing-pages view was completely ridiculous.  So I'm trying InDesign, and already I can see that this is THE app for what I'm doing.  I purchased a hard copy of the InDesign Classroom in a Book 2014 book, which I'm slowly going through... but I'm so incredibly eager and going page by page is so slow.  I will keep going through the book, but in the meantime, would people on this forum mind making sure I'm starting off on the right foot?  (I don’t want to get too far along and then discover that I should have been doing things completely differently).
    Question One:  Many of my pages will be for recipes, of course—name of the dish at the top (white text on a black background), photo below, and below that the list of ingredients and the instructions.  So should I create a Master Page just for recipes?  That would seem to make sense, as all of the recipes will be organized on the page in the same way.  But what about all the other parts of the book (Preface, Table of Contents, various pages of commentary, pages of photos, etc.) that are different from one another?
    Should I create other Master Pages for other parts of the book?
    Question Two:  given that I’m planning to have all the pages printed at a printing house, and then bound into book form… should all my ‘left-hand’ Master Pages leave an extra wide margin on the right (to account for the part of the page that’s bound/glued) and, similarly, should all my right-hand Master Pages leave extra room on the left?  How much extra room do I need for this?
    Question Three:  I really don't know enough about InDesign to even know what other question to ask, so maybe I'm safest to ask this:  are there settings I should 'build in' now, so I don't find myself trying to do it later, when it's much more difficult?  As I say, I'm going to keep struggling with the book (so many lessons seem to have nothing to do with my particular project, but I know I have to keep plugging away).  I do want to get my cookbook off on the right foot though.
    Thanks so much for any advice,
    Malcolm

    Presumable the book will be divided into sections (chapters) to make it more accessible. (1) front matter – title page, imprint/copyright, TOC etc. these tend not to have pages numbers (2) Individual chapters – e.g. Starters, Main courses, Puddings, Drinks  (3) back matter e.g Index.
    The simplest approach is to have page numbers on your master page with running headers – that is the name of the book at the top of the left hand page and the name of each chapter on the right hand page, and guides for the repeating elements.
    Produce and print out a couple of specimen pages of the recipe pages to see how your design looks and how easy it is read/use and how you will allow in the design for short and long menu headings and recipes etc. Use paragraph, character and object styles in your design. You wouldn't need extra space for perfect binding, look at similar books of the same trimmed pages size to see what kind of margins they have.
    The cover artwork should be produced as a separate document as it will be printed separately on heavier stock.
    Check you have an economical page size for printing (talk to your printer) discuss the paper you might choose and how many pages in a printed section. Also what kind of PDF s/he wants.

  • Unrecognized Event Datatype Using ActionScript 3.0 Cookbook

    This is my first time using Flash 9 Alpha (F9A)/ActionScript
    3.0. I am using code from the ActionScript 3.0 Cookbook so I
    assumed it would work immediately; this is not the case. I've
    verified that my code looks exactly as it does in the Cookbook with
    two exceptions:
    1) the image file I'm using, which is located in the root
    directory with the .fla file.
    2) the Cookbook import statement for the Event class is
    "import flash.events.Event;" but F9A didn't recognize ".events."
    and gave me another error, three errors total. In response, I
    changed the import statement to "import flash.event.Event;" and got
    rid of that error, resulting in two errors total.
    Even still I'm getting these two errors:
    **Error** C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My
    Documents\My_F9A_Project\BitmapLoader.as : Line 15, Column 36 :
    [Compiler]
    Error #1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time
    constant: Event.
    public function onComplete(event:Event):void {
    ReferenceError:
    Error #1065: Variable BitmapLoader is not defined.
    Can anyone help me figure out what is going wrong with this?

    flash.events is correct, and flash.event should not be valid,
    I'm not sure what's going on there.
    The other two errors are a because the class is not imported.
    Event is not imported because, as noted, flash.event does not
    exist. It should be flash.events.Event. And you also need to import
    flash.display.Bitmap
    AS3 doesn't get much attention here(probably because this is
    a Flash forum, and there's not final release of Flash with AS3 yet,
    although there is the public Alpha, as you know). I suggest the
    actionscript.org AS3 forum. It's full of crazy Flex users, but the
    AS3 portion is all the same.
