Need Advice Scenario Uploading Data R3/Non R3 to BW

Hi Expert,
I am looking for good scenario uploading Data R3/Non R3 to BW, Any suggestion is highly appreciated would be thankful for all.
supriatna

Hi Supriatna,
you may start to wonder why there is no answer to your topic. Apart from the reporting side, Uploading data from R3 or non R3 to BW is what BW is designed for, so it's like asking for a good scenario for doing a calculation with a pocket calculator.
You could use ANY business content scenario. Maybe you would like to elaborate more on your requirements.

  • Uploading data from non sap system to sap system

    hi to all experts,
    my requirement is to upload data into the sap system from non sap system . the data is in  a flat file ,but the problem is that  in the flat file all the field lengths and fields are not in order or same as sap system. How to upload the data into sap system ....

    hi,
    the data is in a flat file,but the problem is that in the flat file all the field lengths and fields are not in order or same as sap system.
    If the data is in excel sheet use this FM.
    CALL FUNCTION 'ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE'
        EXPORTING
          FILENAME                      = P_FILE
          I_BEGIN_COL                   = 1
          I_BEGIN_ROW                   = 1
          I_END_COL                     = 17
          I_END_ROW                     = 3000
        TABLES
          INTERN                        = itab
    EXCEPTIONS
      INCONSISTENT_PARAMETERS       = 1
      UPLOAD_OLE                    = 2
      OTHERS                        = 3
    It will read the data from excel sheet column wise and then store it in ITAB. you can change the order after reading the file.
    In case of Text file use FM  GUI_UPLOAD.
    You can change the order of the fileds after reading it from file, but the length and all you have to make compatible to SAP standard fields.

  • Flat file upload ( data from Non SAP)

    Hi experts --
    Need to create say morethan 400 infobjects in our scenario.
    so can any one help me, is there any alternative to create the same rather than creating manually.Is there any option thru BDC. i mean thru a file with data types,length,..description...  if so would like to get explained clearly.
    I hope my question is clear.
    Thanks and regards,
    Vishwa.

    Hello viswanath krishnamoorthy,
    How r u ?
    I believe this is not possible! because 400 InfoObjects may contain Characteristics and Key Figures, also the main problem is using BDC - Recording method u can update tables but not Activation.
    No other option create them Manually.
    Best Regards....

  • Need Advice:  Propogating form data

    I'm just starting with Application Express and can make a data entry form based on a table. Now I need to put together a series of forms based on many tables. The need is for a clinical trial in which each subject has a unique study number. The study number is in every table as the primary key. My concern is that the data entry person must enter this number in every form. They can cut and paste of course, but is there a better way? I was wondering if it was possible to make the study number entered in the first form to propagate to all the others. Is this achievable, or might there be a better way? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Vern

    Hi, Vern
    I would suggest using a hidden field (perhaps in the "After Header" region) to hold the ID. All other fields that need to use this number can than have the field name as it's Default Value. You would have to make these fields either read-only or hidden to stop the users editing them.
    Another method would be to have a Global Item, compute its value when the page is loaded and use this as the Default Value for the other fields. This method would be preferable if the value needs to be used on more than one page.

  • Need advice about migrating data

    I just bought my daughter a new MacBook. She launched the Migration Assistant tool to transfer her data from her iMAC. Both computers are running Leopard, and the iMAC is just 1 year old. The problem is that she set up the transfer to go through our home wireless network, which is only wireless G, and the computers indicate the transfer will take 18 hours.
    My question is this: Can I just click off the transfer and start another transfer approach that will be faster? For example, when she first started working with the iMAC, we migrated about 25 GB of data from a Windows machine using an external hard drive that was the back-up drive for the Windows machine. This transfer occurred very quickly, well under an hour. Is it possible to transfer the data directly from the Time Machine external drive, which had been attached to the iMAC, to to the MacBook using the USB ports (there is no Firewire port on the MacBook, believe it or not)? I should be able to just copy the data files and paste them into the new MacBook, just as I did when I transferred her data from the Windows maching to the iMAC.
    Any comments or suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    seeker45

    seeker,
    This KB article has some suggestions for migrating data for the new MacBooks.
    [http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1291]
    Also, an ethernet cable between the 2 Mac should work great for you. The info below might be helpful as well.
    You shouldn't have a problem re-trying the migration again. If Migration Assistant detects duplicate user accounts it will give you the option to overwrite them with the new copies or rename them.
    *Using Time Machine Before Initial Launch of New Mac*
    Before starting the new Mac for the first time, attach the hard disk that contains the Time Machine backups from the old Mac. (For Time Capsule/AirDisk users: If you will be attempting this wirelessly, ensure that you are in range of your Airport wireless device. Alternatively, for faster migration of large quantities of data, connect your Mac via ethernet to your wireless device.)
    Procedure:
    Startup the new Mac and begin the setup process. You will initially see the video introduction.
    At “Welcome” select your country and then preferred keyboard.
    At “Do You Already Own a Mac?” you are asked “Would you like to transfer your information?”
    +from another Mac+
    +from another volume on this Mac+
    +from a Time Machine backup+
    +Do not transfer my information now+
    Select “from a Time Machine backup” and click “Continue”.
    At “Select a Backup Volume” choose your Time Machine backup disk and click “Continue”. (If you are attempting the migration wirelessly, then click “Join...” and select your network first.)
    At “Transfer Your Information” check all the categories you wish to migrate over. If you wish your Mac to be in the same state as your last backup, then check everything. If, however, you are only interested in transferring one user account, then click the little disclosure triangle next to "Users". A list of all the previous users will appear. Just uncheck the user accounts you do NOT wish to migrate over. In other words, have only the desired account checked.
    Give the installer time to calculate sizes.
    Once that is complete, the “Transfer” button will become active and you can click it.
    After the migration, verify the registration information, click “Connect” and you are done.
    Once the migration is complete use Disk Utility to repair any permissions issues.
    *Using Time Machine After Initial Launch of New Mac*
    If you happened to initially set up the new Mac using a different username than the username on the account you wish to migrate, then skip to “Attach the hard disk containing...”.
    If, on the other hand, it is the same username as the account you wish to migrate over, then do the following:
    Go to System Preferences --> Accounts.
    You may need to unlock the lock in the lower left to make changes.
    Below the pane on the left click "+" and create a brand new Administrator User account on the Mac with a completely unique name - not the name of your own User account.
    Now logout of the account you are currently in and log back in using the new Admin account you just created.
    Attach the hard disk containing the previous Macs' Time Machine backups to the new computer. (For Time Capsule/AirDisk users migration will be much faster if you connect your Mac directly to the router via ethernet.)
    Now go to Applications --> Utilities --> and launch Migration Assistant.
    At the welcome dialogue click "Continue." You may be required to enter your Admin password.
    For Migration Method chose "From a Time Machine backup or other disk". (Do not choose…
    "Full System Restore" unless it is exactly the same Mac you are restoring to.)
    At “Select the System to Transfer” choose the hard disk containing the previous Time Machine backups and click “Continue”. Give Migration Assistant some time as it connects to the drive and scans the disk for eligible data to migrate.
    At “Select User Accounts to Transfer” put a check beside each account you would like migrate over to the new Mac.
    At “Select the Items to Transfer” you can choose to migrate “Applications” over. If an application already resides on your new Mac, only the newest version will be transferred. Additionally, other “Files and Folders” that resided at the top level of your old Mac can be transferred at this point as well. Files from the “Library” folder of your old Mac will always be transferred over unless you uncheck the other two options.
    Click “Continue”.
    At “Select Computer Settings to Transfer” choose which settings you would prefer transferring to the new Mac. If you want a completely fresh system to start with, then do not check any of these options. This can be helpful if your previous system was experiencing issues.
    Click “Transfer”.
    If you have already created a User Account on the new Mac and it happens to be named the same as the User Account that is being migrated then Migration Assistant will report,
    +"There is an existing user account with the same name as an account you are transferring."+
    At that point, you will be able to choose one of the following:
    +• Rename the user account you are transferring+
    +• Replace the existing user account with the one you're transferring+
    +• Do not transfer this user account+
    If you wish the new Mac environment to be exactly the same as your old Mac, then avoid selecting “Rename the user account...”. Rather, select “Replace the existing user account...”. It will not be deleted but saved in a new folder labeled “Deleted Users” found in the main Users folder. Click “Next”.
    At this point the transfer will begin with a bar displaying the progress. Once completed click “Quit”.
    *Full Backup After Migration to New Mac*
    Bear in mind that in all cases Time Machine will not continue to backup the previous Macs’ backup sets but will perform a new full backup. This is normal. Time Machine will resume incremental backups after the full backup has completed. To view previous backups, Control-click or right-click the Time Machine icon in your Dock or Option-click the Time Machine menu extra and Choose "Browse Other Time Machine Disks," then select the previous Mac’s backup set. You will enter Time Machine and be able to browse your previous back ups and restore files. [http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1338]

  • JMS to Synchronous Web Service Scenario (Need Advice to use BPM or Not)

    Hi Experts,
    We have a scenario where we fetch data from JMS Sender and Send it to MDM Webservices.
    We want to have the files processed in such a way that until we get a response from webservice back that it was sucessful ,then only we need to process the next file.
    We would need advice as can we use BPM for this.
    We are thinking of having BPM like this:
    RecieveStep(Asyn)-SynchronousSend Step(with wait)-Stop
    The problem with this is when processing huge files the processing time of the Queue is taking very long and sometimes we are getting SYSFAIL.
    Please would anyone advice as how can we approach this scenario either using BPM or without.
    Also Can we use multiple queues or multpile instances concept for this scenario.
    Please Advice.
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    J

    Hi Prateek,
    Thank you very much for your quick reply.
    The response from Webservice does not need to be sent anywhere.
    We just want that after recieving the response back from webservice(SOAP) then only we need to process the next file.
    Can we control something from Sender JMS adapter side as well as it is picking up all the files and all files wait at BPE until each one gets processed.
    Is this possible without BPM or with BPM.
    Please advice as what wud be possible steps inorder to achive it through BPM or Without BPM.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Advice on uploading files and process data

    Hi, I'm building an Apex application. It requires that users can sometimes upload data (csv) that will be validated and inserted into the database.
    For now I've created a component that uploads the file and copy it to my UPLOADED_FILES archive table as a blob. Now I need to create a process that review data from blob and, if posible, inform the user of incorrect lines.
    It seems that I need to recreate the file on the oracle server from the blob, then use SQL Loader to create an external table from that file and finally run my own validate/copy procedure over the external table data.
    So my questions are:
    - Is there a more proper way of doing this?
    - Can I create the external table directly from the blob, without recreating the file, and an oracle directory?
    - When using sql loader, how can I deal with quotes in the text? (the csv is generated from an spreedsheet, it can have text data with quotes that will be scaped, so a posible line will be (three fileds separated by semicolons):
    my data 1;"my data 2""some escaped quotes here""and a semicolon inside ; my data 2 final";my data 3;
    Will work the declaration: fields terminated by ";" optionally enclosed by '"' ?
    note '"' = apostrophe+quotation+apostrophe
    Thanks for your advice.

    So my questions are:
    - Is there a more proper way of doing this?The only other option is to manually parse the LOB yourself. So until Oracle provides external tables on LOBS too, this approach of writing it to external file for loading as an external table is a necessary evil.
    - Can I create the external table directly from the blob, without recreating the file, and an oracle directory?No.
    From Oracle® Database Administrator's Guide:
    "<i>Oracle Database provides two access drivers for external tables. The default access driver is ORACLE_LOADER, which allows the reading of data from external files using the Oracle loader technology. The ORACLE_LOADER access driver provides data mapping capabilities which are a subset of the control file syntax of SQL*Loader utility. The second access driver, ORACLE_DATAPUMP, lets you unload data—that is, read data from the database and insert it into an external table, represented by one or more external files—and then reload it into an Oracle Database.</i>"
    Perhaps we'll get a 3rd access driver in future that either supports LOBs, or enables us to define our own access driver (all that is needed as output from the driver is text lines - and this should not be that difficult to standardise as a custom interface to implement).
    - When using sql loader, how can I deal with quotes in the text? (the csv is generated from an spreedsheet, it can have text data with quotes that will be scaped, so a posible line will be (three fileds separated by semicolons):

    Will work the declaration: fields terminated by ";" optionally enclosed by '"' ?
    note '"' = apostrophe+quotation+apostropheBest is to try it and see whether it works. Also refer to the Oracle® Database Utilities for SQL*Loader syntax and options.

    I have a non standard table.I want to upload data in that table using SCAT.So,how Test case can be created for uploading the data in that table?
    Edited by: Debasish Behera on Mar 17, 2008 1:02 PM

    As it is a Z table yiu can directly uploda data by an ABAP program. Read the data from a flat file and simply insert into that table.

  • Upload data from excel to crm using BDOC possible or not

    Hi all,
    I need to upload data from excel to crm(opportunity management) .is it possible using bdoc or not. Please provide the list of methods to upload data from EXCEL and also provide the best method for this scenario .

    BDocs are used to transfer data from one SAP system to another like from CRM to ECC or R3.
    If u want to upload data from excel to CRM, this can be done with the help of idocs and not bdocs (method 1 - using LSMW).
    Take help of a crm technical consultant and define lsmw projects. The project will take care of field mapping and conversion. Once that is done, 4 steps need to be done.
    1. Read data
    2. Convert data
    3. Generate idocs
    4. Post idocs
    Once the posting of idocs happen error-free, the data will be available in crm system.
    Another method will be using transaction SECATT.
    Here u can define test scripts and record what all activities are done in a transaction. Then define ur test configs which will contain the excel sheet data and then upload the data.
    Reward with points if this helps.

  • Uploading Data from a Flat File

    Hi
    I am trying to Upload data from a Flat File to the MDS. I have a few questions on the Process.
    a) XI would be the Interface, and one end would be a file adapter with the Flat File format. On the other end, which Interface should I use - ABA Business Partner In or MDM Business Partner In. I do not understand the differences between them and where should which one be used?
    B) At the moment,I want to map the data to standard Object type, Business Partner  BUS1006. This also has a staging area already defined in the System. Can I view the data which is imported into the Staging area ? How so ?
    C) The struture (or data) that I wish to upload has few fields, and does not map to the BP structure easily. In such a scenario does it make sense to
    Create a new Object type
    (ii) Create a new Business Partner type with the appropriate fields only ..
    What I need to know is if either of these options is feasible and what are the pros & cons of doing this, in terms of effort, skillset & interaction with SAP Development ?
    Kindly do reply if you have any answers to these questions.
    Regards,
    Gaurav

    Hi Markus,
    Thanks for your inputs.
    I have tried uploading some dats from a Flat file to the Business Partner Onject type, BUS1006. I initially got some ABAP Parsing errors on the MDM side, but after correcting that, I find my message triggers a short dump - with the Method SET_OBJECTKEYS, not finding any keys in the BP structure that has been created.
    Q1 - How do I get around this problem ? Is it necessary for me to specify Keys in the PartyID node of the Interface ABABusinessPartnerIn. or is it something else ?
    Q2 - How is this general process supposed to work? I would assume that for staging, I would get incomplete Master data or data from flat files, which need not neccesarily contain keys. The aim is to use the matching strategies in the CI to identify duplicates and consolidate them.
    Thanks in advance for your reply.

  • Need help in ViewObject Data Validation

    HI Everyone,
    I have few queries about ViewObject. I'm working on JDev11gU2 ADFRC.
    Actually i made an application to upload XLS file to af:table. Everything is working but now I stucked with some functionality. Like -
    1. After inserting all rows in table have opposite sequence as in XLS file, I mean i want to know that is there any way with method VO.readXML() i can
    Insert rows below the previous one. by default it is taking new row as first row in af:table.
    2. Second thing is, I need to show at least 100 lines in af:table by default after uploading data of minimum 3000 lines. So like we had paging functionality in JDev 10g, but in 11g we have scroll and fetch functionality, because of this after loading 100 lines in table my application gets very slow. So any solution to put some same paging functionality like 10g.
    3. Validate all Row attribute in Viewobject, like I have a button say Validate Data, after clicking it all Data of viewobject should validate and if there are any Invalid data. So that Row column should get highlighted. Validation just like before committing data.These are some critical requirement so is there anyone who can guide me properly.
    Thank you,
    Fizzz...

    ok Grant,
    these are all just for explanation only, my exact tables and entity is totally different,
    So just guess i have -
    EmpView(from Employee Entity) - set to show only new inserted rows(Fresh Uncommitted Rows only)
    Attr - EmployeeId (PK)
            EmpName
            DeptId (FK - Department Entity)
            JobId (FK - Job Entity)
            InstId (FK - Institute Entity)
    DeptView(from Departement Entity)
    Attr - DeptId (PK)
            DeptDesc
            InstId (FK - Institute Entity)
    InstView(from Institute Entity) -
    attr - InstId (PK)
            InstDesc
    JobView(from Job Entity) -
    attr - JobId (PK)
            JobDesc
    Now I have one table named *New Employee* on my page to Add more Employees using EmpView ViewObject, For that i have one XLS sheet with all new employee data,
    After Upload XLS File New Employee Table is Like(All Fields are already filled) -
    Line No. EmployeeId           DeptId          InstId       JobId
    1           70021             D10             I01       -->J80
    2           70022          -->D90             I01          J10
    3           70023             D20          -->I20          J20
    4           70024             D30             I03          J10
    5           70025          -->D70          -->I10       -->J50Now what i need is, Suppose
    Invalid Data is (Which Does not exist in their main Table)
    In Line 1 : JobId = J80 (Not exist in Job Entity)
    In Line 2 : DeptId = D90
    In Line 3 : InstId = I20
    In Line 4 : No Error
    In Line 5 : All Three fields have invalid values.
    So now I'm trying to Identify these errors and try to get exact column attribute like above to highlight them in table in red with showing proper formatted msg to user. Like :
    Msg for User :
    These Lines have INVALID DATA :
    Line 1 : JobId,
    Line 2 : DeptId,
    Line 3 : InstId,
    Line 5 : JobId, DeptId and InstId.
    If i do ViewObject Validation then at the time i Uploading process of data from XLS get very slow for large amount of rows like 250<, That's why i was trying to do it after uploading data.
    So after upload i got above table. Now i have a save button where I'm committing data, which calls doDML() method for that Employee entity, where
    suppose process gets error on Line 1 then whole process stops there and throws JboException, and i got Line no 1 for my Msg to show user, but what about other faulty rows,
    For that i catched that exception so after every faulty row process continues, but now the line 4 , which has no error it get committed in DB. I don't want this.
    Another solution i got is use postChange(), but here I'm not getting what I'm doing wrong, problem is it post all previous rows too, suppose i have new 5 lines as shown above but in postChange() method post rest of old lines too. It is making me completely crazy,
    It is very urgent so could not able to find more time to research on this so you please help me, or if you have some examples related to this then please send me the links.
    hope above scenario will help you to understand my problem.
    Thanks

  • Uploading data from R/3 to CRM

    Hi Gurus,
    We have the following scenario:
    Our customer master data is created and maintained in R/3.  Now we need to create and maintain in CRM.
    1.  we need to bring R/3 customer to crm and start maintaining only in crm
    2.  there should not be any number overlap
    eg. 1000 customers in r/3 starting no. 1 to 1000, we need to bring this customer to crm and start maintaining in crm.  then from cusotomer no. 1001 onwards need to create from crm.
    Can anybody help me on the steps to be followed and the configuration settings to be maintained. How the number ranges have to be maintained and what settings should be done in CRM and R/3 before transfering the data.
    Also the steps on how to upload data from R/3 to CRM??
    Thanks.
    Divya Gupta

    Hi Divya,
    Create 2 different number ranges and groupings and assignement in CRM system
    For Ex:
    Create a number range(External) with 1 to 1000 and create a grouping ABC and do the assignment(R/3 customers)
    Create a number range(Internal) with 1000 to 100000 and create grouping XYZ and do the assignment (New customers)
    we need to bring R/3 customer to crm and start maintaining only in crm
    Do the following settings in R/3 system to bring the customer data from R3 to CRM
    T Code: PIDE
    Select R/3->CRM: Assign Account Grp. to BP Classification
    Select the Account group which is created in R/3 for customers and set classification as B and select the grouping  as ABC(Defined).
    and start initial download in CRM system with T.Code R3as
    Load Object  =  CUSTOMER_MAIN
    Source Site (Sender)  = R/3
    Destination Site (Receiver) = CRM
    and Execute.
    It will bring the customer data from R3 to CRM.
    While creating new customers in CRM system select the grouping as XYZ to avoid overlaping.
