Need help calculating power consumption

I am calculating the power consumption for my new system but I have no idea how much power a radeon 9500 Pro and an athlon 2400 consume. Does anyone know?

as the 9500 performs in a similar fashion to a high end gf4 i would guess 70 to 100 watts the xp 2400 is in the 75 watt range
stick to 200 plus watt combined with 28a or so 3.3v
or antec over 400 watts and you should be ok

  • Need help with power supply & graphics card upgrades

    I have a HP Pavilion p6320y that I bought 8 months ago. AMD Phenom II x4820 Quad Core processor.   I play WoW and since the last big patch, have been suffering with low fps. I updated drivers and followed all the advice given to me by Blizz and finally figured out that my Nvidia GeForce 9100 (integrated graphics) isn't good enough anymore.
    I checked my computer and discovered that I have a 300w power supply (12V) and read on another post here that something stronger than 300w is needed to run a decent graphics card.
    Now for my questions:
    How much of a power supply can I upgrade to without hurting my computer, but will be enough to run a good card?
    What would be a good graphics card for this computer?
    I've been looking at the Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express graphics card and wonder if that will work on my computer.  Most of the nicer cards seem to be the PCI Express and I'm not sure if that will work.
    Any advice will be most helpful. I have some experience with the inner workings of my PC and would like to fix this myself instead of running to the closest computer shop and paying someone else to. Thanks!
    This question was solved.

    Well, you are starting out from a fairly low baseline with the integrated graphics. It will not cost much to have a substantial increase if all you want to do is run WoW without error messages. Yes, the 300w power supply is an issue and rules out any card that will require its own power (i.e. needs its own power cord like a hard drive) but there are several mid-grade cards that can run off bus power alone (i.e. just from the pci-e slot itself). Just taking a quick look at newegg.com I see the following:
    GeForce 9400 under $50
    Radeon HD 4650 under $50
    GeForce 9500GT a little over $50
    Any of these should get you where you want to be and not require a PS upgrade. The slot you have available is a PCI Express x16 slot so don't look at AGP cards; they will not work. If you want to install the card you mention you need to get a better PSU.

  • [Urgent] Need help calculating difference between two dates

    I'm trying to write a code to display the current day and time, then accept two dates from the user and display the difference between the two dates. To display the current date and time, I've used the SimpleDateFormatter library but I'm having difficulty calculating the difference between two dates. Could someone please help me with this?
    Below is my code so far
    import java.util.Date;
    import java.util.Scanner;
    import java.text.SimpleDateFormat;
    public class DateFormatter {
         public void displayNow()
              Date todaysDate = new Date();
              SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MMM-dd HH:mm:ss");
              String formattedDate = formatter.format(todaysDate);
              System.out.println("Today's date and time is: "+formattedDate);
         public void calculateDifference(Date startDate, Date endDate)
              /* This is whre i need help! */
         public static void main(String[] args)
              DateFormatter df = new DateFormatter();
              Scanner sc = new Scanner(System.in);
              df.displayNow();
              System.out.println("Please enter a date: ");
              String date1 = sc.next();
              System.out.println("Please enter another date: ");
              String date2 = sc.next();
    }The methods displayNow() and calculateDifference(Date startDate, Date endDate) are essential and cannot be skipped out.

    Dude. I've tried doing assignments under pressure, and it doesn't work. Here's a piece of free advice. Start earlier next time, don't put "urgent" in the title of your post b/c it just pisses people off around here--and is a sure sign of an overdue homework assignment which no one around here likes helping with, and try to ask intelligent questions--don't just say "Help me!"
    Of course, it takes some time to learn what the intelligent questions are. You have my sympathy. Try asking questions about how to do a particular task, instead of asking people to tell you what to do. It starts to get easier after a while.
    actually dude i started on this on monday.. but there were so many other stuff to do along with this.. and i did try referring up the Calendar utility but it was a bit confusing actually.. it was only after that did i come to this forum.. nor am i very good at Java.. anyhoo thanks for your sympathies :P

  • Going to Australia and need help with Power converters

    Facts:
    US uses 110v on 60hz
    Australia 220v on 50hz
    Making sure I understood that correctly.  Devices I plan on bringing that will use power are PS3 Slim, MacBook Pro 2008 model, and WD 1TB External HDD.  My DS, and Cell are charging via USB to save trouble of other cables.
    Ideas I've had or thought of:
    1.  Get a power converter for a US Powerstrip, and then plug in my US items into the strip and then the strip into an AUS Converter into Australian outlet.  Not sure if this fixes the voltage/frequency change.
    2.  Get power converters for all my devices.  But, not sure if my devices needs ways of lowering the voltage/increasing frequency or something to help with the adjustment.
    3.  Buy a universal powerstrip, which is extremely costly and I wouldn't be able to have here in time (I leave Thursday).  Unless Best Buy carrys one.

    Check the specs on input voltage/frequency of your power supplies.
    Many laptop power supplies are "universal/global" and are specced something like 80-265 volts AC 50/60 Hz, but not all.  These will just need a connector adapter.
    Unsure about the PS3 Slim - if it isn't universal it could be difficult as you'll need a 110/220 transformer, one big enough (power-handling wise) for the PS3 will be very bulky.
    For the external WD HDD, if it doesn't have a universal supply, you're probably best off just finding a new wallwart for it that is capable of running on 220/50.

  • [10g/8i] Need help calculating a hierarchical total

    Hi all...
    I am trying to determine the total quantity of each unique part number in a bill of materials (big list of parts that go into a final product). The total needs to take into account the quantity of the parent parts--what I mean by this is, if you have final product 'A' that takes 1 x part 'B' and 2 x part 'C', and part 'C' takes 1 x part 'B' and 3 x part 'D' then the totals of all unique parts in product 'A' would be: 3 x B, 2 x C, 6 x D.
    It would be nice if this query ran under 8i, but if it's much more complex than the equivalent query for 10g, don't worry about making it work for 8i.

No doubt, for you, applying that to the specific data is trivial, but most of us aren't as familiar with your application as you are. It would help a lot if you posted a similar explanation using specific ids from the sample data. For example, why do the desired results include:
    PART_NBR    CHILD_PART  TOTAL_QTY
    ABC-123     HARDWARE-1  46     If someone explores the data enough, they might guess that the number 46 is the sum of 26 and 20=2*10, but it would sure save a lot of time if you, to whom this is second nature, could explain it.
    It would be nice if this query ran under 8i, but if it's much more complex than the equivalent query for 10g, don't worry about making it work for 8i. Sorry, I don't know any simple way to do this in Oracle 8.1. The SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH function, introduced in Oracle 9, is essential to the solution below.
    Here is some sample data:
    CREATE TABLE     BOM
    INSERT INTO BOM VALUES ('ABC-123','   50020001121',1,'ABC-123',500,'HARDWARE-3',5);
    Good job.
    It looks like only about half of the columns have anything to do with this problem. Here's another place where sharing your knowlege ot he application could really help people. Don't post things that are irrelvant to the problem you're asking. If there's a sincere doubt, then say somthing like "I need part_nbr, bill_seq and bill_level in the output for my real problem. I don't think they have anything to do with getting the total qty, but I'm posting them just in case."
    Here are the results I expect (I don't care about the order, this is just the order I hand-calculated the results in):
    PART_NBR    CHILD_PART  TOTAL_QTY
    ABC-123     ABC-123-1   1
    ABC-123     HARDWARE-1  46
    12345-1     RAW-3       27          Clearly this query:
    SELECT     part_nbr
    ,     child_part
    ,     SUM(qty_per)
    FROM     BOM
    GROUP BY     part_nbr
    ,          child_part
    ORDER BY     part_nbr
    ,          child_part
    ;will not give the desired results, as it doesn't take into account the quantity required of each child's parent, but I can't figure out how to do that.Thanks for posting the query. Even though it doesn;t work, it helped me understand what you wanted, and saved me some time.
    The sample data I have provided represents data from a table or materialized view that is, roughly, the result of a hierarchical query of data in another table or three. If it's simpler to work off the tables on which this table is based, let me know, and I can put together some sample data from those tables.I don't know if it would be any simpler. It might be more efficient, but I don't know how much that matters to you. Try the solution below. If it takes, say, 60 seconds, is it worthwhile trying to see if we can get it to run in 15?
    This seems to get the right results:
    SELECT     part_nbr
    ,     child_part
    ,     SUM (eval_number ('1' || SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH (qty_per, '*')))     AS total_qty
    FROM     bom
    START WITH     parent_part     = part_nbr
    CONNECT BY     parent_part     = PRIOR child_part
    GROUP BY  part_nbr
    ,       child_part
    ORDER BY  part_nbr
    ,       child_part
    ;Do some experiments, on variations of this query, if you don't understand what SYS_CONNECT_BY_PATH is doing. You'll see that it's returning a string, such as '*2*1*1*6.75' that reflects the quantities needed at each level of the process. To actually do the multiplication, and get a number, I used this function:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION     eval_number
    (     in_txt     IN     VARCHAR2
    ,     err_val     IN     NUMBER     DEFAULT     NULL
    RETURN     NUMBER
    IS

  • Need help in power saving utility (Satellite M40x)

    Hi all
    I am new in this forum, I need a help, as when ever I am pressing Toshiba power saver it tell me that I have to open the windows power options and use the Toshiba power saver but I can find it there in the schemes I think I deleted it by mistake from schemes scroll.. So how can I restore it so I can use Toshiba power saver?
    My notebook is Toshiba Satellite M40x
    plz reply soon also u can add me to your msn messenger : my id is :
    [email protected]
    Thx in advance
    adham

    When you push the button, toshiba power setting should appear without any message. I set up parameters directly from Toshiba utility so the message you get to open windows power management reveals there is a problem.
    Try to reinstall toshiba power saver utility from the recovery cd or you can download it from the drivers download in the official site.

  • Need help on forecast consumption

    Hi,
    we have a requirement on forecast consumption.
    there is a 'itemA' and the forecast is entered manually for this itemA with qty 10.
    I have another itemB. Item A=ItemB ( in actual these are same items and the naming is different).
    I'm creating a sales order for itemB with 5 qty
    I want to consume the sales order against the forecast ( like the forecsat should consume and show 5 qty consumed against SO).
    can anyone provide your inputs to achieve this.
    I tried item relationships and cross references. Not helpful.
    regards,
    Karuna

    Hi Karuna,
    sounds very reasonable your request, we have similar requirements, so I would love to hear something from you if you found a good solution.
    At the moment I have only two ideas, but I did not really check them:
    1. Use End-Item-Level Substitution
    2. Product Family
    1: I don't know which version you are using, but I found something in ASCP Implementation and User's Guide for 11i (B10144-10) in the section 17: There is something mentioned about End-Item-Level Substitution, however I did not find some info about the forecast consumption in those cases. But you said that you tried already with Item relationships, so I guess with the substitution we do not get what we need...
    2: You could also think about using Product Families, and put the Forecast on the Product Family item, and if I am not mistaken, then all items belonging to that Product Family should consume the forecast. You also find more details about this in the ASCP user guide.
    best regards,
    David.

  • Need help with power adopter

    Hey guys!
    here are my pc spec - well its old pc spec!
    - i7 950 3.07Ghz
    - msi x58m
    - 1GB x 6 = 6 GB crucial ...
    - HDD C: - WD raptor sata 2 150gb
    - Club 3d ATI radeon HD 4890
    - 3 extra hdd sata 2
    - chieftec 3 bay HDD box for 4 extra sata2 HDD - I have 4 hdd there but they dont work all the time i turn them on only when i need it
    - chieftec 750W ... aps-750c
    now i did some changes!
    i put my ATI card into my 2nd back up pc and updated the ram, so now i have :
    - EVGA GTX 580 classified 3 GB
    - 4GBx3 = 12GB corsair
    1st two weeks all was fine, but now i CANT turn on my pc....... so in order to turn it on i disconnect the power cable, wait for some time then connect it again and if i try to turn it on right away it will not work , so after i connect the cable i wait for like 30 mins and then its strarts working...... after its turned on there are no problems, all working fine, but each time after i turn it off i just CANT turn it on, and have to make that "procedure" each time to turn on my pc!
    now i took that chieftec 3 bay hdd box and put it on my back up pc, was hoping it will be better , but nope
    is it really power? does the 750w really is not enough? any recomendations for a new power box?

    Your power supply might be a little marginal for the GTX 580.  They require that the 12 volt supply be capable of 42 amps or 405 watts.probably the only way to check it would be to use an external voltmeter.  Any chance you could return the GTX 580 and possibly go with a GTX 670?  It only reqiures 30 amps.  Here is what I found on the specs on the 12 volt rails
    "The PSU is rated for an output power up to 550 watts and can yield up to 450 watts across its +12V rail. Thus, its effective output power (i.e. what you can get from it in a real computer that consumes mostly from the +12V power rail) is about 500 watts, which is good. The +12V rail is split into two “virtual” lines, 25 amperes each."
    If the initial surge with everything turned on at once I would not feel comfortable with your system and that power supply.  If I read you right you have three additional hard drives inside the unit.  If you can disconnect  the power to them for a quick test and turn on your computer you might isolate your problem.  Typically each disk requires about 20 watts on startup

  • Need Help with power supply reccomendations for my graphics card

    hi
    i have a MSI GeForce GTX 780 Graphics card... i built my own system, i also got a rosewill rx750 power supply in it which i think is causing me problems, the computer works great until i get into games like titan fall and try and get into a game then it restarts the computer on its own.. has done this with a few games, but it works fine when surfing the net and so forth, i have read its to do with the power supply being week and also read my chosen power supply isnt that good... anyone got any recommendations for me that i should look at or am i looking in the wrong direction with whats wrong with my pc... any help would be great thanks

    yes the PSU is  the most important choice out there and corsair and seasonic are the best out there! (never buy cheap PSU's as like abvolt said a cheap one can easily kill your more expensive parts)
    Cheap PSU = made of the most cheap parts they could get "think cheap shanghai parts are used that may be of any quality good or awful as its just what they could get for the lowest price" (ever bought anything that was super cheap they break very easily)
    Quality PSU = the use of good quality well made parts and will have very good testing done on them to make sure they are stable and pass very tight regulations and conform to specs for 10-30 different factors each.
    a cheap low quality PSU I class as a paper weight as it will never go near a computer (maybe i would use one as a basic bench PSU for things i do not care if they die or just for testing a fan or something that rubbish dirty power is not really a major problem but silicon is not tolerant to dirty power and will kill parts)

  • Need Help Calculating Business Days AND omitting Holidays...

    Post Author: dkotenoglou
    CA Forum: Formula
    Thanks to the people here I was able to get a nice formula to help me calculate the amount of business days between two days.//Crystal syntax
    Local DateTimeVar d1 := ;
    Local DateTimeVar d2 := ;
    DateDiff ("d", d1, d2) -
         DateDiff ("ww", d1, d2, crSaturday) -
         DateDiff ("ww", d1, d2, crSunday) This works great.  I wanted to add the ability to omit US Holidays.  Now this is a straight Crystal Reports install without an SQL backend so I cannot use any formulas there.Is there a parameter? I can use to manually create a table of dates to omit?  The only reason I ask is that our company was closed during the holidays so my day reports are really high. I do not mind typing a long list of days manually (12/24/2007, 12/25/2007, etc) but I need to know how to best integrate that list into the formula.

    If you have CR XI, there is another example as well, in the sample reports,  look at feature examples, custom functions.rpt   this code is from that example.
    Function cdDateAddSkipHolidays (nWorkingDays As Number, startDateTime As DateTime) As DateTime    'the result = startDateTime + nWorkingDays + nHolidays (including weekends)    'the algorithm below also works when nWorkingDays is negative
        Dim totalDays    'give a rough estimate for total days. For each 5 work days there are 7    'days. Also add in an extra 2 weekend days to account for a partial week.    totalDays = Fix(nWorkingDays * 7 / 5 + 1) + 2
        Dim iteratedDiff    iteratedDiff = cdDateDiffSkipHolidays (startDateTime, startDateTime + totalDays)
        If (iteratedDiff >= nWorkingDays) Then        Do While iteratedDiff >= nWorkingDays            totalDays = totalDays - 1            iteratedDiff = cdDateDiffSkipHolidays (startDateTime, startDateTime + totalDays)        Loop        cdDateAddSkipHolidays = startDateTime + totalDays + 1    Else        Do While iteratedDiff < nWorkingDays            totalDays = totalDays + 1            iteratedDiff = cdDateDiffSkipHolidays (startDateTime, startDateTime + totalDays)        Loop         cdDateAddSkipHolidays = startDateTime + totalDays    End If
    End Function

  • I need Help! Power Mac g5 computer won't load past grey screen.

    Tonight my old power mac g5 computer (that I had for 8 years) has finally decided not to boot anymore.  What happend was I was on my computer, and looking up something on spotlight until it froze over, (i am assuming its a kernal panic) It then crashed. I turned it off and tried to reboot it. At first, only the apple symbol appeared and no loading bar and then I turned it off again, but now I have a continuious loading bar. I've turned it off several times and rebooted but to no success (my cd drive is also broken) I fear I may have to get rid of it but I cant afford another tower right now..they're too expensive....What can I do?
    Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you.

    OK, a number of things, sort of in order:
    1.  Does it boot from an install disc?  You may need to hold the left button of a wired mouse down at boot to get the optical tray to open, or you can use open firmware to open and close the tray.  (see below)  Can you run Disk Utility from the install disk to check and/or repair your boot volume?
    2.  How about the PRAM battery?  How new is it?  If it is the original, you need to replace it for sure.  If it if more than a couple of years old, it should be replaced preemptively as it is likely weak enough by now to have caused some mischief (more so if the machine has been off power and unplugged for any significant amount of time).
    3.  Have you tried a PRAM reset? (Hold down cmd-option-P-R key combination at boot until you hear the boot tone a second time).
    4.  Have you tried a PMU reset?
    So what is happening is that something is getting hosed early on in the boot process.  You might be able to see what is going on by doing a verbose boot (hold down cmd-V at startup until you get to the gray screen with Apple embossment) and hopefully getting the Unix terminal screen with its output detailing the boot process.  Were I a betting man, I would have to guess a problem with the boot volume's directory structure.  That's why I listed the booting from the install disc first.  If it boots from the install disc, then most of the system is probably in good shape but there may be problems with the boot volume's directory.
    Opening the disc tray using open firmware:
    You boot into open firmware by holding down the cmd-option-O-F keys until you get the white open firmware terminal screen.  You are not really using the hard disc or any really advanced capabilities of the system.  Now, type the following command to open the optical drive tray:
    eject cd  <enter>
    Repeat the command after inserting the install disc and the tray should close.  Then enter the following command:
    reset-all  <enter>
    and the machine should restart.  You can either hold down the option key at boot to bring up startup manager to select the optical, or more simply, hold down the C key as the machine restarts and keep it held down until you see the system loading.

  • I need help calculating the "occupancy rate" of a lodge.

    Hello there. I have a spreadsheet that shows check in, check out times for guests in 5 units: unit 1, 2, 3, 4, & 7 (5 and 6 aren't being rented).
    I would like to have a chart that automatically displays the occupancy rate for each room as a guest is entered into the table. I'm not great at all with charts in numbers and another difficult part is creating formulars that detects the changes of a new month. So I've drawn a rough draft of what I'd like the chart to look like. Can anyone help me come up with a formula to make the chart display this?

    Hi Caleb,
    If I'm reading your table correctly, the unit numbers are i column C, In date in column E, Out date in column F and duration of stay in column G.
    For stays that do not cross from one month to another, a simple SUMIFS statement woud work to calculate the number of occupied days in a given month. As you've found, theough, the stays that begn in one month and end in another are a bit trickier.
    One way to resolve the issue is to use an auxiliary table which calculates the occuped days (for all units) using a separate column for each month, then a summary table to sum the monthly data for each unit.
    Here's an example, using random data over a two and a half month span.
    Note that the dates in the header row of Aux and Summary are actual Date and Time Values set to the first of each month, and formatted to show only the month and year. These are used in the calculations.
    The only formula in Bookings is =F-E in each cell of column G (Stay).
    Aux has two formulas:
    A2, and filled down: =Bookings :: C2
    This simpy copies the values from column C of Bookings to column A of Aux.
    B2, and filled down and right:
    =IF(AND(Bookings :: $E2>=B$1,Bookings :: $F2<EOMONTH(B$1,0)+1),Bookings :: $F2-Bookings :: $E2,IF(AND(Bookings :: $E2<B$1,Bookings :: $F2>B$1),Bookings :: $F2-B$1,IF(AND(Bookings :: $E2<=EOMONTH(B$1,0),Bookings :: $F2>EOMONTH(B$1,0)),EOMONTH(B$1,0)+1-Bookings :: $E2,"no")))
    Same formula, separated into sections:
    =
    IF(AND(Bookings :: $E2>=B$1,Bookings :: $F2<EOMONTH(B$1,0)+1),Bookings :: $F2-Bookings :: $E2,
    IF checks if the IN date AND the OUT Date are both in the month for this column. If so, the calculation is done and the formula is done; if not, control is passed to the next if:
    IF(AND(Bookings :: $E2<B$1,Bookings :: $F2>B$1),Bookings :: $F2-B$1,
    IF checks it the IN date is before the month for this column AND the OUT date is after the beginning of this month. If so,th calculaton is done and the formula is done; if not, contorl is passed to the thrid IF:
    IF(AND(Bookings :: $E2<=EOMONTH(B$1,0),Bookings :: $F2>EOMONTH(B$1,0)),EOMONTH(B$1,0)+1-Bookings :: $E2,
    IF checks if the IN Date is before the end of the month for this coumn AND the OUT date is after the end of the month. If so, the calculation is done; if not, the text blow is returned to the cell.
    "no")))
    This text was chosen to give me a visual indication of the result. In practice, I would replace it with the empty string ( "" ).
    Summary has a single formula:
    B2, and filled down and right:
    =IFERROR(DUR2DAYS(SUMIF(Aux :: $A,$A2,Aux :: B))/DAY(EOMONTH(B$1,0)),"")
    SUMIF sums the duatons of Stay for each unit in a specific month for each column.
    DUR2DAYS converts the duration to a number of days.
    DAY(EOMONTH(B$1,0) returns the number of days in the month whose date is in row 1.
    The first is divided by the second, and the result is formatted as percentage, with 0 decimal places.
    IFERROR traps the error that occurs when the source column on Aux contain only text values, and replaces the error message with the empty string.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Need Help Calculating Credit Card Payments

    Okay, let's say that I owe my credit card company $2000.00, and they're charging me 20% APR, based on my average daily balance. If I send them $30/week, then how many weeks will it take me to pay them off?
    It seems like there should be a Financial Function for stuff like this, but if there is, I can't figure out which one to use or how it would work. I'm currently doing something like this:
    =(Current Balances :: Balance Chase*(1+Current Balances :: APR Chase/365)^7)-30
    … to figure out what I still owe at the end of the first week, then then doing a Fill Down with this formula:
    =(A2*(1+Current Balances :: $APR $Chase/365)^7)-30
    Then I do a:
    =COUNTIF(Payment Schedule :: Chase,">50")
    … figuring that if the balance is below $50, I'll just pay it off.
    Anyway, not only is this an incredibly tedious process, and probably wildly inaccurate, it's also hard to work with it in the rest of my spreadsheet. Isn't there some Function that will figure this out for me? It doesn't have to be super accurate, as long as it can give me a ballpark idea of when I'll be paid off.
    Thanks in advance,
    surfer

    Surfer,
    There's a handy financial formula that was designed to do just what you want. It's not really that difficult to find, as it's named NPER for Number of Periods.
    Here's an example using your data:
    I converted the APR to weekly using 365.25 days in a year and 7 days in a week. There may be some error in this calculation, but it should get you within a payment.
    In this case, your Period is a Week, since that's how often you are paying.
    Your Payment is negative since it's paying down, not up.
    Future Value is zero.
    This should put you in the ballpark.
    Jerry
