Need help in writing XML file!!!

dear friends:
I'm a learner in J2ME, and I understood how to parse a simple XML document with SAX parser, but it don't supply methods to write a XML file or store my data to a XML file.
Somebody can tell me how to do?
Thanks in advance.

    Hi all,
    I need to collect some data from an Xml file using java. I have the following code with me but I am unable to get the required result. I am unable to get the data from the tags belonging to the header and footer elements. Please find the code and the sample xml file below.

    1. your code does not compile (in your main method you try to create an instance of a class which does not exist).
    2. your XML document is not well formed.
    +[Fatal Error] test.xml:34:74: The content of elements must consist of well-formed character data or markup.+
    org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The content of elements must consist of well-formed character data or markup.
    Maybe there are other problems but you can start by fixing these.

  • Need help with checking xml files

    Hello!
    I would like to ask you for advice.
    I have following task to do: I need to compare values in XML file with one of databases.  Have you any ideas hot to do it? How to parse it using PL/SQL level?
    thanks for reply

    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
    I have following problem. External firm sending me a XML file with some fields for example: <price>5000$</price>;
    In my DB i have table with this column and i have to make a script in PL/SQL which is finding in my DB fields and compare with fields written in this XML file.
    Thanks.

  • Need help with loading XML file

    Hello,
    I have been browsing the web/forums for an example on how to do this for a few days now.  I managed to get this working in Flash Pro quite easily but I think I am missing something when I want to do the same thing in Flex.
    Basically I want to load an XML file and then set the text values of 5 labels equal to the data in the XML file.
    So I a button created in MXML and have set the click event as follows:
         click="dsSetup(event)"
    I have also declared the following:
         public var myRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("assets/myFile.xml");   //folder located under src in project
         public var myLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
         public var myXML:XML;
    My function that loads is as follows:
    public function dsSetup(event:MouseEvent):void
         trace ("dsSetup");
         myXML = new XML (myLoader.data);
         h3.text = myXML.source.itemA;
         h4.text = myXML.source.itemB;
         h5.text = myXML.source.itemC;
         h7.text = myXML.source.itemD;
         h8.text = myXML.source.itemE;
         currentState = 'MainMenu';
    myLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, dsSetup);   // I think this line is now redundant as I have set it in the MXML
    myLoader.load(myRequest);
    This is the way I did it in Flash and it worked ok but I must be missing something in when it comes to Flex.
    Can someone explain or point me to a good tutorial that shows how to load XML in Flex?
    The ones I found seem to have about 50 lines of code just to load a file and add in way to much complexity for a beginner.
    Many Thanks

    I would suggest to save the loaded data in a Bindable variable and then to bind the text-properties to that:
    [Bindable]
    var myXML:XML;
    public function dsSetup(event:MouseEvent):void
         myXML = new XML (myLoader.data);
         currentState = 'MainMenu';
    <s:Label text="{myXML.source.itemA}"/>

  • Need help with table, xml files, click actions and visibility

    Hi.
    I am new to adobe livecycle and I need some guidance in a problem that I am facing.
    I have an XML. The main tag 'employee' has 4 tags in it, name, age, ph# and address.
    Address tag has 6 more tags in it.
    I have to create a table which has 4 columns initially (all text fields). The rows are populated acccording to the XML.
    1. S. No., which increments according to row number.
    2. Name from XML.
    3. Age from XML.
    4. ph# from XML.
    When any S. No. is clicked on, it should display the address details below that row, when it is clicked on again, it should hide those details and the original table view should be restored.
    I googled a lot but am still not able to get how to do this.
    Please help.

    I created a sample for you with what I think you want. Here is a file and the associated XML that goes with it.

  • "PLS-00172: string literal too long" When Writing XML file into a Table

    Hi.
    I'm using DBMS_XMLStore to get a XML file into a db table. See the example below, I'm using that for my PL/SQL format. Problem is that because there're too many XML elements that I use in "xmldoc CLOB:= ...", I get "PLS-00172: string literal too long" error.
    Can someone suggest a workaround?
    THANKS!!!
    DECLARE
    insCtx DBMS_XMLStore.ctxType;
    rows NUMBER;
    xmldoc CLOB :=
    '<ROWSET>
    <ROW num="1">
    <EMPNO>7369</EMPNO>
    <SAL>1800</SAL>
    <HIREDATE>27-AUG-1996</HIREDATE>
    </ROW>
    <ROW>
    <EMPNO>2290</EMPNO>
    <SAL>2000</SAL>
    <HIREDATE>31-DEC-1992</HIREDATE>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>';
    BEGIN
    insCtx := DBMS_XMLStore.newContext('scott.emp'); -- get saved context
    DBMS_XMLStore.clearUpdateColumnList(insCtx); -- clear the update settings
    -- set the columns to be updated as a list of values
    DBMS_XMLStore.setUpdateColumn(insCtx,'EMPNO');
    DBMS_XMLStore.setUpdateColumn(insCtx,'SAL');
    DBMS_XMLStore.setUpdatecolumn(insCtx,'HIREDATE');
    -- Now insert the doc.
    -- This will only insert into EMPNO, SAL and HIREDATE columns
    rows := DBMS_XMLStore.insertXML(insCtx, xmlDoc);
    -- Close the context
    DBMS_XMLStore.closeContext(insCtx);
    END;
    /

    You ask where am getting the XML doc. Well, am not
    getting the doc itself.I either don't understand or I disagree. In your sample code, you're certainly creating an XML document-- your local variable "xmldoc" is an XML document.
    DBMS_XMLSTORE package needs
    to know the canonical format and that's what I
    hardcoded. Again, I either don't understand or I disagree... DBMS_XMLStore more or less assumes the format of the XML document itself-- there's a ROWSET tag, a ROW tag, and a then whatever column tags you'd like. You can override what tag identifies a row, but the rest is pretty much assumed. Your calls to setUpdateColumn identifies what subset of column tags in the XML document you're interested in.
    Later in code I use
    DBMS_XMLStore.setUpdateColumn to specify which
    columns are to be inserted.Agreed.
    xmldoc CLOB :=
    '<ROWSET>
    <ROW num="1">
    <KEY_OLD> Smoker </KEY_OLD>
    <KEY_NEW> 3 </KEY_NEW>
    <TRANSFORM> Specified </TRANSFORM>
    <KEY_OLD> Smoker </KEY_OLD>
    <VALUEOLD> -1 </VALUEOLD>
    EW> -1 </VALUENEW>
         <DESCRIPTION> NA </DESCRIPTION>
    </ROW>
    ROWSET>';This is your XML document. You almost certainly want to be reading this from the file system and/or have it passed in from another procedure. If you hard-code the XML document, you're limited to a 32k string literal, which is almost certainly causing the error you were reporting initially.
    As am writing this I'm realizing that I'm doing this
    wrong, because I do need to read the XML file from
    the filesystem (but insert the columns
    selectively)...What I need to come up with is a proc
    that would grab the XML file and do inserts into a
    relational table. The XML file will change in the
    future and that means that all my 'canonical format'
    code will be broken. How do I deal with anticipated
    change? Do I need to define/create an XML schema in
    10g if am just inserting into one relat. table from
    one XML file?What does "The XML file will change in the future" mean? Are you saying that the structure of the XML document will change? Or that the data in the XML document would change? Your code should only need to change if the structure of the document changes, which should be exceptionally uncommon and would only be an issue if you're adding another column that you want to work with, which would necessitate code changes.
    I found an article where the issue of changing XML
    file is dealt by using a XSL file (that's where I'd
    define the 'canonical format'), but am having a
    problem with creating one, because the source XML is
    screwed up in terms of the format:
    it's not <x> blah </x>
    <x2> blah </x2>
    x2="blah" x3="blah> ...etc
    Can you point me in the right direction, please?You can certainly use something like the DBMS_XSLProcessor package to transform whatever XML document you have into an XML document in an appropriate format for the XMLStore package and pass that transformed XML document into something like your sample procedure rather than defining the xmldoc local variable with a hard-coded document. Of course, you'd need to write appropriate XSL code to do the actual transform.

  • "encoding = UTF-8" missing while writing XML file using file Adapter

    Hi,
    We are facing an unique problem writing xml file using file adapter. The file is coming without the encoding part in the header of xml. An excerpt of the file that is getting generated:
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <customerSet>
    <user>
    <externalID>51017</externalID>
    <userInfo>
    <employeeID>51017</employeeID>
    <employeeType>Contractor</employeeType>
    <userName/>
    <firstName>Gail</firstName>
    <lastName>Mikasa</lastName>
    <email>[email protected]</email>
    <costCenter>8506</costCenter>
    <departmentCode/>
    <departmentName>1200 Corp IT Exec 8506</departmentName>
    <businessUnit>1200</businessUnit>
    <jobTitle>HR Analyst 4</jobTitle>
    <managerID>49541</managerID>
    <division>290</division>
    <companyName>HQ-Milpitas, US</companyName>
    <workphone>
    <number/>
    </workphone>
    <mobilePhone>
    <number/>
    </customerSet>
    </user>
    So if you see the header the "encoding=UTF-8" is missing after "version-1.0".
    Do we need to configure any properties in File Adapter?? Or is it the standard way of rendering by the adapter.
    Please advice.
    Thanks in advance!!!

  • Need help for writing extract program

    hi
    i need help for writing extract program to retriew data from legacy system.
    i already developed bdc programs for me31k and me21.
    my requirement is to write extract program s for those t.codes.
    to retriew data from legacy system and stored in flat file.

    i need help with a java program. it is a program that allows the user to enter a student's GPA, number of extracurricular activities, and number of service activities. The user can not enter a gpa above 4.0 or below 0. The user can not enter a negative number for the number of both activities. If the student meets the following criteria: 1) GPA of 3.8 or above and at least one extracurricular activity and one service activity, 2) GPA below 3.8 but at least 3.4 and a total of at least three extracurricular and service activities, 3) GPA below 3.4 but at least 3.0 and at least two extracurricular activities and three service activities, the message "Scholarship candidate" should display. If the student does not meet the criteria above, then the message"not a candidate" should display. Can you help me, please?
    You haven't posted ANY 'java program' for us to help with.

  • Writing XML files

    Hello all
    There's a vast amount of information on the java.sun.com site about parsing XML files:
    * creating DOM trees in memory from an XML file
    * setting up event handlers to be called when an XML file is parsed
    * transforming XML files using XSL.
    However, I can find very little information anywhere about writing XML files in the first place! I'm already aware of two ways to do this:
    (1) create a DOM in memory and write this to a file. If the data is large, though, this isn't feasible.
    (2) just output the XML elements directly to some file as text. This doesn't take account of the encoding, or special characters, and the document is not necessarily then syntactically valid.
    Is there some API which I haven't yet come across that is designed specifically for writing XML data to files? If it's built in to Java 2, then goodness knows how I've missed it all this time; if it's third-party, I'd be grateful for any links.
    Thanks for your help

    This Adobe muse site file requires a newer version of Adobe Muse. I want to comeback to old version Adobe muse i need help to open my file thanks

    Hi,
    You may need to design the site again in older version OR may be copy and paste in place from new to old except what is new in the latest version.
    Hope that helps!

    Hi,
    Try using format part of the JSTL tag libs.
    Syntax :
    <%@ taglib prefix="fmt" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/fmt" %>
    <fmt:formatNumber value="40" pattern="$#,##0.00"/>
    I need help in writing the data from JSP to excel.I
    somehow able to retrieve the data into excelHow do u convert the jsp to excel?
    One way to convert the jsp page to excel, is to render it as an excel appl instead of html. Set the content type of the response to application/ms-excel.
    response.setContentType("application/ms-excel")Hope this Helps....

  • I need help with a PDF file that is an image, the "Read Out Loud' option does not work, please help!

    I need help with a PDF file that is an image, the "Read Out Loud' option does not work, please help!

    You mean an image such as a scanned document?
    If that is the case, the file doesn't contain any text for Reader Out Loud to read. In order to fix that, you would need an application such as Adobe Acrobat that does Optical Character Recognition to convert the images to actual text.
    You can also try to export the file as a Word document or something else using ExportPDF which I believe offers OCR and is cheaper than Acrobat.

  • Need help in laoding flat file data, which has \r at the end of a string

    Hi There,
    Need help in loading flat file data, which has \r at the end of a string.
    I have a flat file with three columns. In the data, at the end of second column it has \r. So because of this the control is going to the beginning of next line. And the rest of the line is loading into the next line.
    Can someone pls help me to remove escape character \r from the data?
    thanks,

    Have you looked into the sed linux command? here are some details:
    When working with txt files or with the shell in general it is sometimes necessary to replace certain chars in existing files. In that cases sed can come in handy:
    1     sed -i 's/foo/bar/g' FILENAME
    The -i option makes sure that the changes are saved in the new file – in case you are not sure that sed will work as you expect it you should use it without the option but provide an output filename. The s is for search, the foo is the pattern you are searching the file for, bar is the replacement string and the g flag makes sure that all hits on each line are replaced, not just the first one.
    If you have to replace special characters like a dot or a comma, they have to be entered with a backslash to make clear that you mean the chars, not some control command:
    1     sed -i 's/./,/g' *txt
    Sed should be available on every standard installation of any distribution. At lesat on Fedora it is even required by core system parts like udev.
    If this helps, mark as correct or helpful.

  • Need help with reading XML using File Adapter

    I have created a simple BPEL process that uses a file adapter to read files containing XML messages of a simple xsd schema. But when reading the xml, I get the following error message:
    [2010/03/01 23:43:13] Invalid data: The value for variable "Receive_1_Read_InputVariable", part "revision-report" does not match the schema definition for this part.The invalid xml document is shown below: More...

    It seems that there is some issue with the namespace, but even after trying out various combinations, I am not able to resolve this.

    </revision-report>
    Appreciate any help.
    Thanks in advance for your attention.

    Thanks for your response.
    I am not sure if there is any easier way, but I tried out the following tool available on the net to check an xml against a xsd:
    http://tools.decisionsoft.com/schemaValidate/
    There were a few issues, that I corrected and finally had a xsd and xml that were matching and valid. I tried this out in my file reading BPEL process, but the error still remained the same!
    Here is my updated/simplified xsd and xml:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <xs:schema targetNamespace="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xmlfile"
    xmlns:tns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xmlfile"
    xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
    xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xmlfile">
    <xs:element name="revision-report">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element maxOccurs="unbounded" ref="alternategroup"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    <xs:attribute name="doc" use="required" type="xs:string"/>
    <xs:attribute name="model" use="required" type="xs:string"/>
    <xs:attribute name="pubdate" use="required" type="xs:string"/>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    <xs:element name="alternategroup">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:attribute name="Name" use="required" type="xs:string"/>
    <xs:attribute name="Desc" use="required" type="xs:string"/>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    </xs:schema>
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <revision-report doc="doc2" model="model4" pubdate="pubdate5" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xmlfile">
    <alternategroup Name="ABC" Desc="ABC-Desc"/>
    <alternategroup Name="DEF" Desc="DEF-Desc"/>
    <alternategroup Name="GHI" Desc="GHI-Desc"/>
    </revision-report>
    I even tried the option that is available in JDeveloper to generate a sample xml from a xsd (when in the context of a Transformation activity). The xml generated by this also seems exactly like the one above.
    So, I am not able to figure out why my BPEL process errors out with the message Invalid xml document.
