Need help understanding placement of images and text

I am a beginner with contribute and as such contributing to
our website with text and images. I may be missing something, but
am having a frustrating time of including and arranging images on a
page. It appears that the "drag and drop" capability is very
limited. I am having to use spacebar, enter key, image alignment,
resizing, and padding to arrange pictures. Production is at a
crawl..need quidance quick!
The following link is to our website...I am attempting to
create a gallery of projects with each project having its own page
of text and images. A temporary link to them is found at the bottom
of Services page. I appreciate a pointing in the right direction.
http://www.watsoncommercialgc.com/ProjectGalleryIndex.htm

Glad that worked out fine.
Dreamweaver is a development tool with lots of possibility.
But purchasing this is an investment of course. But adding
galleries and stuf like that will be easier to accomplish.
Alternative is to open the page souirce of Contribute pages in an
external app. and dive into the source and adjust that tom your
needs.
You can allways download a trial of Dreamweaver an try it
out.

  • Help with placement of images and texts

Hi there everyone, first time in  this forum.
Im  creating a website for the first time in dreamweaver after using other  programmes and have so far created a banner and nav bar across the left  hand side. I am unsure on how i am meant to add any content into the  actual centre of my page as there is no box there to write in or add  pictures and when i create a image or div or table they all just hug the  top of my page and refuse to go next to the navigation bar like i need  to it! im sure it is simple but i am finding it so much harder to use  than any other programme.
Im trying to do a list of pictures and  descriptions for my mums business.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks!
    Harry

this is my code by the way, i made it as a template and then saved it as a html.

    /* BeginOAWidget_Instance_2141544: #MenuBar */
/* Settable values for skinning a Basic menu via presets. If presets are not sufficient, most skinning should be done in
these rules, with the exception of the images used for down or right pointing arrows, which are in the file SpryMenuBasic.css
These assume the following widget classes for menu layout (set in a preset)
.MenuBar - Applies to all menubars - default is horizontal bar, all submenus are vertical - 2nd level subs and beyond are pull-right.
.MenuBarVertical - vertical main bar; all submenus are pull-right.
You can also pass in extra classnames to set your desired top level menu bar layout. Normally, these are set by using a preset.
They only apply to horizontal menu bars:
MenuBarLeftShrink - The menu bar will be horizontally 'shrinkwrapped' to be just large enough to hold its items, and left aligned
MenuBarRightShrink - Just like MenuBarLeftShrink, but right aligned
MenuBarFixedLeft - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedLeft', and left aligned.
MenuBarFixedCentered -  - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedCentered',
and centered in its parent container.
MenuBarFullwidth - Grows to fill its parent container width.
In general, all rules specified in this file are prefixed by #MenuBar so they only apply to instances of the widget inserted along
with the rules. This permits use of multiple MenuBarBasic widgets on the same page with different layouts. Because of IE6 limitations,
there are a few rules where this was not possible. Those rules are so noted in comments.

/* IE6 rules - you can delete these if you do not want to support IE6 */
/* A note about multiple classes in IE6.
    * Some of the rules above use multiple class names on an element for selection, such as "hover" (MenuItemHover) and "has a subMenu" (MenuItemWithSubMenu),
    * giving the selector '.MenuItemWithSubMenu.MenuItemHover'.
    * Unfortunately IE6 does not support using mutiple classnames in a selector for an element. For a selector such as '.foo.bar.baz', IE6 ignores
    * all but the final classname (here, '.baz'), and sets the specificity accordingly, counting just one of those classs as significant. To get around this
    * problem, we use the plugin in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js to generate compound classnames for IE6, such as 'MenuItemWithSubMenuHover'.
    * Since there are a lot of these needed, the plugin does not generate the extra classes for modern browsers, and we use the CSS2 style mutltiple class
    * syntax for that. Since IE6 both applies rules where
    * it should not, and gets the specificity wrong too, we have to order rules carefully, so the rule misapplied in IE6 can be overridden.
    * So, we put the multiple class rule first. IE6 will mistakenly apply this rule.  We follow this with the single-class rule that it would
    * mistakenly override, making sure the  misinterpreted IE6 specificity is the same as the single-class selector, so the latter wins.
    * We then create a copy of the multiple class rule, adding a '.SpryIsIE6' class as context, and making sure the specificity for
    * the selector is high enough to beat the single-class rule in the "both classes match" case. We place the IE6 rule at the end of the
    * css style block to make it easy to delete if you want to drop IE6 support.
    * If you decide you do not need IE6 support, you can get rid of these, as well as the inclusion of the SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js script.
    * The 'SpryIsIE6' class is placed on the HTML element by  the script in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js if the browser is Internet Explorer 6. This avoids the necessity of IE conditional comments for these rules.

  • NEED HELP! Poor quality stills and text

I'm finishing up a corporate video with lots of still pictures and text. Unfortunately, It's so bad I can't show it to the customer. As always, the video footage looks great but the still photos and the text looks very, very bad when played on a DVD. I compressed the MOV file with Compressor using the Apple-Best Quality DVD settings. I'm beginning to think stills and text will always look bad on TV. Is there a way to improve this? Is Compressor the best tool to compress my file?

Getting still images to look good at DV resolution and color depth can be a struggle.
    A couple of tips.
1.Do not use images with more pixels than you absolutely need. If you are in the US (NTSC) and the images don't have any pan/zoom moves, size them to 720x480 (DV pixel ratio) in Photoshop before importing them into FCP. FCP is not a very elegant scaler.
    2. Make sure the contrast in the images is under control. Keep the whites below 90.
    3. It the images have a lot of high contract detail (think leaves in bright sunlight), sometimes a slight vertical gaussian blur of .3-.5 pixels can help.
    4. If the total running time of the material is under 60 minutes, use a Constant Bit Rate of 6.5 or so in the Compressor settings.
If all of these don't really do it for you, and if the material is all stills, you might try to do the slide show in Fotomagico or Motion then output it as a video file for import into FCP.
    Good luck,
    x

So just to be clear, when you say "just bought" how long ago was that? Is it on this new iPhone that you had pictures, texts, etc that you want? Were you backing up to iCloud or onto iTunes?
This may not help for everything but if you go to iCloud.com and log in, are you able to find your pictures there?

Or choose Window > Arrange > Tile
And, you of course can copy/paste without tiling.

  • How do I save image and text as a single image in InDesign CS5.0?

How do I save an image and text as one image in InDesign CS5.0? NOT 5.5.
I need to save the image as a 72-dpi, jpg file for ePub purposes. I designed a book and am handing it off to someone for ePub.
    This is what I've tried:
    1) Copied from InDesign, pasted into a PhotoShop doc as a Smart Object. Saved it as 72 dpi jpg, then imported back into ID.
    2) Took a screenshot of ID page, placed it in PS, saved as 72 dpi, imported into ID
    3) Saved page as a PDF from InDesign, then saved PDF as 72 dpi jpg, then imported into ID.
    4) Save page as a PDF from InDesign, placed into Photoshop and saved
as 72 dpi, then imported into ID.
    5) Saved as an EPS from InDesign, placed in PS, then imported back to ID.
In all cases, the type looks terrible. It doesn't seem to matter whether I copy or place into Photoshop, though placing is slightly better.
    HELP!!!

In all cases, the type looks terrible. It doesn't seem to matter whether I copy or place into Photoshop, though placing is slightly better.
Naturally what you did will result in rasterized text. Did you preview with high quality settings?
Are you sure the people who will handle that downstream need pixel images and do you have the exact pixel dimensions needed?
Why did you place the image back in Indesign, by the way?

  • I need help understanding how the Apple components integrate to create a system across all my devices?

I need help understanding how the Apple components connect to create a whole system across all my devices?
Is there a resource that describes current system and associated functionality?
    For example:
    Buy A, B, C to achieve "X"
    You will need:
an internet provider which supports <specs>
    add D to achieve "Y"
    You will need:
an internet provider which supports <specs>
    add "E" to achieve "Z"
    You will need:
an internet provider which supports <specs>
For example, I am looking at the Gen 6 Airport extreme.  For intended performance do I need broadband? if so what are the specs, or will basic internet service suffice?  Do I need the internet provider's modem or does the Airport extreme replace that?  And then I think, if I am doing this, I should also look at Apple TV....What do I need and Why?  Then I look at the New Desk top coming out in the fall, and I think well, if I wait and get this, what does this component do for the system, and what becomes redundant? What does this awesome desktop do for my ability to sit and use a new macbook air when I travel  or sit on the couch in my PJs?
If there was a place that plainly stated "if you buy the new dektop you can configure a system including only these components and achieve <this result> and by adding <additional components> you will achieve this result.
I have been to the genius store a few times, but I come out of there more confused unless I have SPECIFIC questions or already know what to buy.
A "System Configuration App" would be a really great sales tool--Just saying.

I have no idea what "fully optimized" means.
No Apple device will let you watch broadcast TV. The Apple TV is a good option for watching streaming TV from iTunes, NetFlix and Hulu. If you want to watch from other sources, you may need to look at other devices.
Any Mac computer or iPad will allow you to surf the web.
    What business software?
Time Capsule is a good option for back ups.
    Update what across all devices?
For accessing documents from all devices, a service like Dropbox is your best bet.
I have no idea what "step as far away from an internet provider as possible" means. If you want Internet access, you need an Internet provider.
Lighting fast speed for what? Processor? The specs are listed for all devices in the Online Store. Internet? We're back to the service provider.
Technology changes. The only way to keep pace with it beyond a couple of years is to buy new stuff.
The bottom line is you need to look at the specs for devices availble and at your budget and decide what best meets your needs. If you are unable to do that on your own, there are lot of technology consultants out there who will, for a fee, look at your exact situation, make recommendations and even handle the purchase and set up. Perhaps that would be the best route for you.
    Best of luck.

  • How do i create a website that allows customer to upload images and text?

I need some help i have a friend who has asked me if i can create a website that allows them to upload their own images and text at their leisure.
His company is in the car sales trade so they need to regularly be updating their stock, and this needs to be done by somebody with limited computer knowledge so ease of use is fairly important.
I am using dreamweaver cs4 on a G5 Imac running Snow leopard 10.6.8, my skills are limited to creating uncomplicated websites but i am very keen to learn, i am aware of content management systems such as Druplal but have zero knowledge on how to use these.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Although putting together a form that would upload images and all the descriptions required seems like a fairly straghtforward project, depending on your current skill set.

Thanks in advance...This forum is to use as a resource for your questions, not a place to enlist someone to program for you. If you have specific questions on what to do, not: "I've not a clue, so explain the wold to me." But specific questions on how to get your code to work or points about Java, then people from all over the world will be happy to help you in the context of the forum, and not through your private e-mail. E-mail defeats the basic purpose of having public forums for learning and exchange of information.

I'm having difficulty displaying image and text together within an accordion content panel.  What I need is a thumbnail photo of a staff member plus a short bio.  I've put a panel together so it displays as needed in Live View, but not in IE8, Foxfire8, or Chrome.  I'm using Dreamweaver 5.5, Spry 1.6.1, Windows 7.
Here's the code for the panel that includes an image not displaying:
    <div class="AccordionPanel">
    <div class="AccordionPanelTab">Stan Swiercz, Training Manager</div>
    <div class="AccordionPanelContent">
    <div class = "PanelImage"> <img src="/images/StanSwiercz.jpg"/></div>
    Bio text goes here</div>
    </div>
Here's a link to a test page (ignore funky color variations, still settling those).  The panel that is set to open should display an image floating left with text wrapping, as it does in Live View.

I''ve double-checked documentation, help, and done searches, but can't find any information about what should be an easy thing to do.  Any help out there?
    Thank you very much,
    George

The location of the image is http://cet-training.org/Test%20folder/images/StanSwiercz.jpg (click the link to see the image)
This is the markup from your document <img src="/images/StanSwiercz.jpg"/> which means that the image is located in the images folder which is located in the root directory.
Hence the image cannot be found by your document.
The following are possible solutions, please choose one only
change the location of the images folder to reside in the root directory
delete the leading slash from the link as in <img src="images/StanSwiercz.jpg"/>
change the link to an absolute value as in <img src="http://cet-training.org/Test%20folder/images/StanSwiercz.jpg"/>

  • Thumbs with Large Image and Text/Links

    Hi,
I am running some script on the link below to try and get a look of when you click a thumbnail the large image and text that goes with it changes with each different thumb.  I am able to do that right now, but not to the affect that I want.
Ideally I would like all the text to be on the right hand side of the image with spacing and links, but I seem to only be able to get the text to show itself on the bottom of the picture right now.  I think I need to approach it in a different way then I am currently.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This is the page I am working on - http://mnkr.com/womens_stylepages/bigsur_TEST
Please let me know if I can offer up any other info.

Sorry to keep replying to my own post, but I am trying to work on this in the meantime.
I am currently trying to get this to work through this forum - http://forums.adobe.com/message/4001227?tstart=0
This is what I have done so far and I think I am on on the right track?.

  • When have multiple layers, move images and text all starting from background layer

    Greetings
I have an image that has some 24 layers, many of these are text.  When trying to move the images and text all on the same layer yesterday, I ran into problems, but eventually fixed by moving these items starting from the background layer, by using Ctrl\Move.
This worked so well that I thought I would show my fellow learners at our regular Friday session on Elements 11 at SeniorNet.  However when I went to show them I could move easily and freely on the background layer - without using Ctrl, just the move tool.  Elements simply moved very quickly from the background layer to the relevent layer with the image or text (as before ?).
Cannot understand why I could not do that in the first place at home, but I had lots of tries there.  What circumstances could have been different ?

Did you have "Auto Select Layers" ticked on the tool's option bar?
It is not clear to me what the ultimate goal of your demonstration is. You can combine  the 24 layers into one layer (referred to as stamp visible layer) without flattening the layer structure. To do this, do the following:
Open a blank layer at the top of the stack of layers in the layers palette
    Press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+E on the keyboard
You can work on this stamp visible layer. The layers below will not be impacted. If you don't like what you have done, simply delete the stamp visible layer, then start over.
