Need help with device swap

Question

I have to exchange my blackberry bold 9700 that's on WIND Mobile. Last time I tried to use the device swap method in the blackberry desktop manager. It managed to copy over all my data fine except for my bbm contacts and when I tried to recover them via email address it gave me an error saying email recovery was not available. Is there some
thing I was doing wrong? How could I not lose my bbm contacts this time? Should I use back up the phone the use the recovery option on the new one, or should I just use the phone swap option?

Hi Mia,
So like Youngzink says what are the machines involved?
Depending on the models involved they don't like to just have their hard drives swapped.
next screen was grey with a bunch of foreign languages on it
Yah that's a kernal panic. Usually the result of bad RAM, Airport or hard drive.
Eliminate these one at a time to narrow down the cause.
Yes it is possible the logic board is bad but I've never seen one. (Out of 100 or so.)

If swapping the speakers is what's keeping you from using your original machine it turns out it's pretty easy. Just did it myself a few weeks back after avoiding it since it seemed so hard. Turns out it was dead simple. You just have to understand you're bending the locking tab when you rotate the speaker.
From the manual:
"2. Note: If you are certain
a speaker is faulty, the
easiest removal method
is to gently push the
speaker down in the
direction of the arrow.
This will bend the
biggest tab (there are
three tabs) that connects
the speaker to the
divider panel.
3. Twist the speaker back
and forth and slide it off
the divider panel."
