Need info reg char set differences.

Hi,
In my database our Cognos people are using UTFA char set. And other people are using WE8ISO885981 char set.
Is there any prob to have two character sets in the database. If yes what are those and how to rectify them.
If there is any problem while recovering the database?.
if we need to change everything into one charset how can we do that
please help me in this issue.

Your oracle client always converts client characters to the database character set. So if your database has some kind of UTF8 charset there should be no issue.
If not you may need to convert your database to UTF8 if you need to keep such(UTF) characters in the database.
So an oracle database could use two character set. One as default and one extra as national. But you have to use special column types(eg NVHARCHAR) to use the second national character set as type of a column.
If you don't want to change your original table structures you may need to consider changing default character set to a UTF8 (e.g. AL32UTF8) charter set. So all of your previously used character set will be a superset of the new UTF8 so you can convert your original data.

You can find your emal account settings by launching Mail, then go to Preferences->Accounts and you can see them there for each account.

Need advise to calculate stock difference (Theoric values vs real values)

I know there is a transaction named MI20
This transaction is able to give me the needed info... except it gives me the info un units. Meaning, if a box of certain product has 12 SKU and we have 12 boxes, the result window shows 144 SKU.
This is not a bad thing... except for the fact that the company does not only want to see the SKU but they want to see the boxes. If there are 145 SKU of the same product in stock, they want the result window to show it like this:
Item: <ItemName>, Boxes: 12, Units: 1 (This is a rough example)
Now... I don't think it is a good idea to touch the standard code, so I decided to create a new (and simplified) transaction that asks only the parameters they want, they agreed to this and so I started... but stopped almost right away.
"Why?" you might ask. Well, I don't know the tables I sould read to determine a difference in stock between what's supposed to be and what really is.
My common sense tells me the actual stock is somehow introduced to the system with some document. But where? Which table(s)?
Also, how can I calculate the theoric values ? Initial stock (date of implementation) minus sales, plus purchases? That's what common sense tells me but... also tells me that is only going to be slower as time passes by, not to mention I don't know where to look into (again).
After the people who implemented SAP left, we were left adrift. No data dictionary, no ABAP training, no language refference manual, no nothing :s
I don't want source code to be written here... but I'm kinda desperate, I tried to understand the standard code of the MI20 but I get lost. I'm reading the RM07IDIF report and while I can see some tables there, I can't ger a grip on what's happening >___<
What would you say is a good starting point or course of action? (Don't say "Get formal ABAP trainning"... that's not going to happen, my boss haven't even pressed the buttons to get a book from the SAP store ;_;)
I know the ISEG, MARA, T!58 tables play a role in the whole movie (How, that's still a mistery I have to unveil).I I've also noticed some structures that (to my understanding) are used mostly to store partial results.
I know this question is very vague and even might look like "Do the work for me", but believe me, I'm not looking for source code to copy paste. I'm trying to understand the system and the relation between the tables in order to start coding.

Error while navigating planning 9.3.1 through workspace/ need info on cpx,

Hi all
Hey I installed the planning 9.3.1 and also I created the application name, using planning address. but the problem is I am unable to navigate through workspace. I am getting three dialog boxes....
" invalid or could not find module configuration"
"Required application module hyperioin planning app wizard is not configured.please contact your administrator"
" Communication error"
I'm able to see the application name in projects of shared services. Can any one face the same situation , and also I need info regarding how to initialize modules of capx and wfp.

If you did a standard install then it should be running on port 19000 as well.
I take it workspace is working fine on port 19000

^ this will be your workspace servername..
When you run the configuration utility for Reporting and Analysis and the section "Configure Web Server", this is where you set up the Apache Server for workspace, there is an option for "Planning", this should be ticked and the correct planning server entered as it will default to the workspace server.
The apache server redirects requests on the standard workspace port 19000 to the correct server and port, so for planning it redirects to the planning server and port 8300.

where in i need to Assign the Line ids to cost elements
here we create the coding mask for the cost element to be assigned to line ids...
so we need to create diff cost elements a/c to the coding mask....????is it so....
so in next step ie in "Update of WIP calc and RA(OKG4)"
where in for our Cntrl area i need to maintain diff cost elements....
so now i am finding the problem in creating those cost elements.... for each diff cost element types ie primary,sec,rev,settled...do i need to create diff G/L account ???? coz it asking fo it so....and hw to create those diff cost element..
is it thru (ka01)....

i was stuck in OKG8
they have told me to set RA cat as RFKA and POCB
BUT THOSE REC DOES NT EXISTS....
where in i can create these RA category.....or can i use any alternative RA category
so can u tell me wat these mean if u knw...and which P&L and Balance a/c need to be used or created and provide the TCOde if u have as the one of my CO consulatant hasnt turned up today....so i only have to create them..

How to handle all UTF-8 char set in BizTalk?

Can any one let me know how to handle UTF-8 char set in BizTalk.
My receive file can contain any character set like ÿÑÜÜŒöäåüÖÄÅÜ . I have to support all char set under the umbrella of UTF-8.
But when i am trying to convert flat file data to xml its converting special character to ??????????.

That won't work because the content has been modified simply by posting it.
Let's start form the beginning:
No component will ever replace any character with '?', that just doesn't happen.
Some programs will display '?' if the byte value does not fall within the current character set, UTF-x, ANSI, ANSI+Code Page, etc.
You need to open the file with an advanced text editor such as Notepad++.
Please tell us exactly where you are seeing the '?'.
The Code Page is not an encoding itself, it is a special way of interpreting ANSI, single byte char values 0-254, in a way that supports characters beyond the traditional Extended Character Set.
You need to be absolutely sure what encoding and possibly Code Page the source app is sending. Notepad++ is pretty good at sniffing this out or just ask the sender. If you determine that it's really UTF-8, you must leave
the Code Page property blank.

Char Set with Portuguese special characters

Hi all,
it's kind of urgent. I need to create a new Output Device (SPAD transaction) with the device type ASCII. Until that, no problem, but I need this device type to allow printing special characters like Ç, ç, â, ä, º, ª, etc. Every special char is converted to "#" when I export the spool. I've tried to add the char sets 1153 and 1105 but it didn't work.
Does anyone know which Char Set I should add to my device type in order to print those characters correctly?

Import error due to character set difference?

hoping anyone to explain reason for the following import error.
here's the situation,
- export client used WE8MSWIN1252 charset (release v10.02.01)
- import server used WE8ISO8859P1 charset (release v10.1.0.4)
all tables appeared to be imported without error, except that import terminated unsuccesfully due to oracle error 2248

It is difficult to say what is the current state of the database, so it is recommended to reexport and reimport the object definitions. You may miss some other stuff like object types, contraints, etc. Table data should be OK, so reexport should not include data.
As far as character sets are concerned, because of the difference between the export client character set and the import server character set, you may have lost some characters in the code range 0x80-0x9f. This includes Euro sign, TM, sign, "smart" quotes, en- and em-dash, etc. Use the Windows charmap.exe to see all the codes. If you have some of these codes in the source database, you have lost them on import (they got converted to the reverse quotation mark code 0xbf).

I would be concerned too if my iPhone was acting this way. It sounds like it is overheating and not holding a charge. I recommend following the steps listed below when experiencing an issue like this:
Battery life seems short

Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Connect iPhone to iTunes and restore iPhone.

What still won't work? You have the photos in a folder on the Desktop, right? So what happens when you drag that folder onto the thumbdrive? Many such drives have a slider lock switch. Make sure it's not in the locked position.
Otherwise give us more detailed info on your setup and issue.

Char set conversion to ASMO 708, KOI8-U, x-IA5-German

hi,
I am doing some charset conversions to support various char sets widely used on the internet. The Character Sets I am supposed to support also include
"iso-8859-8-i", "ASMO-708", "koi8-u", "x-IA5-German".
However I don't find the canonical names for these encodings in the list of Supported Encodings by java.
I checked the i18n.jar but the ByteToChar classes for these encodings were not there. Is it possible to develop your own ByteToChar classes. If yes how?
Can anybody advise how to proceed forward with this?

You could catch the exceptions thrown by the String(byte[] bytes, String encoding) constructor and by thegetBytes(String encoding) method and then dispatch to your own encoding/decoding Code. Something like the following.

Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.
When you sync to another it will delete the current content.
Make sure you have copied everything from your old computer to your new one first.

We wont use the Win 8.1 Product Key - We will Purchase new Windows 8.1 License for the fourth PC but install our copy of Win XP on the machine (we have only 3 License that we used for the older 3 machines).
Carey's reply only speaks to the technical aspects of installing a dual boot environment. It says nothing about licensing which is what I think you are asking about. I do not believe that you can purchase a Windows 8.1 License and apply it to a
Windows XP install. You need to enter in the Product Key when the OS is installed and I seriously doubt that the XP install will accept the 8.1 Key. If you don't have a 4th key for XP you won't be able to have a legal copy installed.
