Need referring tab open on back navigation

I have a page with 5 Spry Tabbed Panels, each have many linked pages.
I'm using Dreamweaver CS4, SpryURLUtils.js - version 0.1 - Spry Pre-Release 1.6.1, SpryTabbedPanels.js - Revision: Spry Preview Release 1.4.
What code can I add to the main page and linked pages to have the referring tab open when navigating back? The back navigation is done by a manually created breadcrumb.
Here's the link:
http://www.wiseye.org/wisEye_programming/campaign10/campaign2010newtabs-3.html
many thanks!

First thing, update your Spry Tabbed Panels to at least version 1.6.1.
Then, if your 'back navigation' will always be static (that is, via your manually created breadcrumb each link goes back to a specific non-changing panel), use the technique that David Powers describes here: http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/spry_url_utils.php
This technique works very well, and is not difficult to implement. Rather than repeating David's instructions here, I recommend going to his site and following them there!

  • Shift focus to new tab opened in backing bean

    Hi,
    I have a tree whose nodes are displayed as command links. On click of these links I have corresponding method action in my backing bean that generates the URL which is opened as a new tab on the browser. Below is what my method looks like in the backing bean.
    FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ExtendedRenderKitService erks =
    Service.getService(ctx.getRenderKit(), ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
    String url = "window.open('http://www.google.com', '_blank')";
    erks.addScript(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(), url);
    We are using IE7 and the problem is that the browser opens a new tab but doesn't shift the focus to the new tab. I added a simple af:goLink on my page with the targetFrame as"_blank" and it works fine. But its the script that I'm calling from my backing bean doesn't behave in the same way. We cannot ask the users to change their browser settings.
    Jdev 11.1.1.5.0.
    Thanks

    Thanks Frank,
    Since I'm generating this URL from the backing bean I did change the script in my backing bean to
    ExtendedRenderKitService erks = Service.getService(ctx.getRenderKit(), ExtendedRenderKitService.class);
    erks.addScript(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(), "window.open('http://www.google.com', '_blank').focus();");
    But that also didn't move the focus to the new tab. When I embed the same string in the javascript on the page(jspx) it works fine.

  • If FF is set to "Never Remember History" and I try to close it with multiple tabs open, it doesn't warn me first. If it remembers history, it warns me about closing multiple tabs. I want that warning AND Don't Remember History back again!

    At work I set my PC to not remember history for privacy reasons.
    I always have many tabs open, and the warning about closing multiple tabs was a good thing - but now it only works if it remembers history!
    I have the "Warn me when closing...." box checked AND all of the lines in about:config regarding these warnings are set to true. I have tried turning it off and back on, restarted the PC.
    I discovered this yesterday with FF 3.something, tried updating to FF4.

    The "Use custom settings for history" selection allows to see the current history and cookie settings, but selecting this doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings.
    Firefox shows "Use custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.
    If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".
    "Never Remember History" means that Private Browsing is active and "Always use private browsing mode" gets a checkmark.
    You need to remove the checkmark on "Always use private browsing mode" to leave Private Browsing mode or chose the "Remember History" setting.

  • Issue with Safari and using the back arrow with multiple tabs open

    I open multiple tabs in Safari but when I'm in a tab browsing and I hit the back arrow, in the new version of Safari, it doesn't just go back to the previous page in the tab, it completely backs out of all the tabs. What am I doing wrong?
    I have a PC running Win 7 and the lastest version of Safari.  I launch Safari which opens to my home page (CNN). I then go the News on my menu bar and select Open in Tabs - then tabs for 6 news sites open up. However if I go to one of the tabs and start navigating around the sight and I want to back up a page I click the back arrow like I have always done in previous versions of Safari but instead of backing up 1 page in the tab I'm in, it collapses all the tabs and I'm back with only the CNN tab still open. Its frustrating not being able to backup on page and I can figure out what's going on. I've use Safari for sometime now but only this version is giving me this problem. I tried resetting and reinstalling Safari but still get the same problem.  Any ideas? Its like I'm backing out of tabs instead of pages.

    Thanks for your quick response.
    1) I have the Block Pop UP windows option turned off
    2) I switched Safari to 32 -bit mode and rebooted my iMac but I still can't get the CBS videos to run
    The exact message I get in the Hulu or CBS box is:
    The video you have requested is either unavailable or is being blocked by an ad blocker installed in your browser.
    I have the same problem with the Safari, Firefox and Opera (all are the latest versions.

    I had 41 tabs open in about six groups over the last year and a half and I just close them and exited Firefox. Is there any way to get them back?
    Also, is there any way to save a group or an open session and then restore it later?

    History menu, if it was destroyed in the last session
    then use "Restore Previous session:" and then restore all windows also from the history menu.
    If done in this session try the restore all windows under the history menu.

  • HELP!! Can's type in Firefox UNLESS I open another internet tab, then go back to the first tab.

    HELP!! Can's type in Firefox UNLESS I open another internet tab, then go back to the first tab! All of the sudden, out of the blue, I hear the little "beep" noise that Mac's make when, for example, you try to close a program without saving an item first. It will "beep" to make you aware that you have an unsaved document. Now, without changing anything on my computer or Firefox, I get thet "beep" when I go to Firefox and try to type in a search box, etc. The only way I can type is if I open a new tab in firefox, then go back to the first tab. Only then will I be able to type. If I use my mouse and click on another box to type on, or try to go back and edit text I have already trped using the mouse to jump to a different portion of my text, I will hear the same "beep" until I (once again) click on another tab, then return to the first tab. It is very annoying as I have to constatnly click on another tab then return so that I can type or edit any thing. I had to do this several times while editing this very paragraph!! I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled. Nothing changed...
    Any help????
    Thanks in advance!

    To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
    Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
    Does it work in the new account?

  • With multiple tabs open, I use to click File, close tab---now close tab is missing and I exit out of Firefox completely. How do I get that choice back "close tab" in the "File" drop down? Thanks. George C.

    The drop down "FILE" in the tool bar use to have a choice to "CLOSE TAB". This is now missing so when I have multiple tabs open and I want to close the most recent, I cannot. I then get warned that I will be closing multiple numbers of tabs, but there is no other choice.
    How do I get the "CLOSE TAB" back in the drop down "FILE" in the tool bar

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • My tabs will not restore after starting Firefox -- even with the option to restore my tabs and windows is checked in the "options" window. I'm losing tabs from previous sessions that I need to keep open every time I need to restart. Thanks for any advice!

    Is there something else I need to tweak to get rid of this annoyance instead of simply clicking the check box? I'm losing tabs from previous sessions that I need to keep open every time I need to restart. Thanks for any advice!

    It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

    Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

    Are there any numbered sessionstore-##.js files in the Firefox profile folder
    You can also check for problems with the sessionstore-backups folder in the profile folder.

  • Opening new tab without clicking in navigation

    Every time I open a new tab in safari by clicking on the + button up top and a new tab opens I always have to click in the navigation bar to enter a new web address. on my macbook pro i never had to do this and I could just start typing as soon as a new tab opened. I couldn't find anything on this topic. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    In Safari, on the menu named "Safari" open Preferences and see what "New tab opens with" is set to. If it is set to Top Sites for example, the cursor should be active and blinking in the address bar, but if it is set to Home Page then it won't be. I didn't test the other options for that Preference.

  • When I have multiple tabs open I have to double click the back button. Is this normal?

    Running Windows XP Professional all latest updates. I can go back to previous page by closing current tab or by clicking twice on the back button. If I have no tabs open I can go back by clicking the back button once.

    Nope, that isn't normal.
    Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?<br/> ''A troubleshooting mode.''<br />
    You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut. Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
    ''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut to open it again.''
