I need to replace the screen on my Lenovo ThinkPad E531. Does anyone know a large parts dealer in the NY NJ Metro area who might carry the part? Thanks for your help.

It is easier to downgrade a stronger video card to lesser LCD like you're proposing than trying to upgrade weaker cards to better panels.
Nothing is certain in Lenovo land and there are numerous instances of undocumented features like systems that can accept more RAM than you'd believe.
A good reference for your model is the ITWbook and HMM but just glancing through ITW it seems all the x200s have the Intel GMA4500 video card and if the same card equips the entire line, your question may be easily answered for downgrade clearance.

Personally, I'd skip the swap and just buy a used x200 to replace or provide what I need, the prices have declined and marginally more expensive than a used LCD and I hate replacing LCD's in any fashion.

Same here, the screen washed out, totally white, but the system's running fine. One gentle tap on the screen, everything's normal again. But things got worse and did not respond to the gentle tap any more, it required twisting the screen a bit and things flickered to normal. At this point sent it to Apple Service, they quoted Rs 26,000
(1 US$ = 60 Rupees) for replacing the screen. The system is already 4 years old, track pad click does not work, disk drive is not without problems and to make things worse the battery requires a replacement and the system is out of all kinds of warranties.
This made me reluctant to consider salvaging the screen, having researched on the situation, I came out twith the following options :
Replace the LCD screen at the cost quoted and hope nothing else packs up for the next 2 years at least.
Connect to external monitor, keyboard and mouse and use it as a desktop with the clam shell closed.
Download this app 'Air Display' for iOS and OS X, mirror the screen wirelessly to an iPad placed in front of the regular screen (with brightness down to zero) and use it like a normal display but smaller than 13 inch. (there are many more advantages of this app too, for example, it works as a touch screen for OSX...ever heard of it ?)
last but not the least, do nothing about this, and things seem to work fine all of a sudden since the last 10 hours, i'm currently typing this text the regular way I did since Aug 2009 !!
But realised one more thing, that the system is getting hotter in the charging end, more than ever before, does it contribute to the worsening of screen / white out / frozen screen but not a brain dead computer)
Will let you know if things hold on this way for long.

Personally I would let well enough alone if that is the only flaw. Also it is best to replace the display panel with an exact duplicate. Usually the motherboard is different if you have the higher res screen and they are not compatible. In other words, your motherboard/video card is different than a laptop with the high res screen, probably. The cable will fit...LED is LED, but the screen will look funky if they are not compatible. So really this is not probably your opportunity to upgrade the screen. Here is your exact replacement on amazon.com at $66 which is a very good deal:

They do not give the price, you have to call. It might work but can't guarantee. Partsurfer is not giving a price for either part but based on past experience, somewhere over $200 is a good guess.

Normally the LCD is always the same part but if you want to make sure you get the correct LCD you should ask an authorized service provider in your country. The guys have access to Toshiba database and can search for exact part number and can order this screen for you.

Replacement screen for iMac pre-calibrated?

I just received a new late 2013 iMac. There is a scratch on the screen and the reseller is saying they will replace the screen (a new machine will take ages they tell me).
If I get the screen replaced, will the replacement screen come pre-calibrated? I have read that Apple calibrate them at the factory - is this done for the screen component itself or done when the whole computer is assembled?
I don't want to replace the screen if it's not going to be as well calibrated.

This is probably the most common laptop screen in the supply channel right now and here is one on eBay for $95. Don't worry it says Gateway because the HP Part number is listed as compatible. The thing I always do is pull the screen before ordering the replacement and then you can search by the screen maker's part number, too. I would expect you can find this a bit cheaper, like as low as $65-70 in today's market.

HP is out of stock through Partsurfer.
The one thing that is confusing me is whether it is an LCD or LED connection. I googled the part number and see both types of screen depicted under that part number and the HP description does not help much. The older LCD type screens are more expensive. The issue is whether the connector is at the bottom left of the back of the screen or top right.
So it is very important that you remove the old screen first. If you want to post a picture here I can help you further

I understand that you are trying to use the standard keyboard on your HP Beats Special Edition 23-n010 All-in-One Desktop PC. NowI have gone through the User Guide for your computer and found nothing on disabling the HP Keyboard that you have by default.
I did however find something that may do the trick. In your BIOS which you can get to by restarting and tapping the F10 key you will see under 'Security' a sub-section named 'Secure Boot Configuration' that has a setting for Secure boot > Key Management > Key Ownership. If you go there you can change it to 'Custom keys', which I believe will resolve your keyboard issue. I am posting an image to help below.

Excuse me, can I use a higher resolution 1400x900 screen in place of my 1200x800 existing thinkpad x200 screen issues free? My screen is heathy and is working fine, I just need to know if such option exists as there are screens out there with higher resolution claiming to be suiteable for a x200 lenovo.
