    Hi mshields1162,
Great question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
First, you may want to choose to have the sidebar displayed for familiarity:
    iTunes 11: Frequently used features
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5649
Afterwards, your device should be displayed if connected:
We'll want to click on it, and choose the Music tab at the top. Let's make sure "Sync Music" is checked:
Afterwards, you'll have the option to sync either the entire music library (for your first iPod), or "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" (for the secondary device). Upon selecting this option, four larger option boxes will appear allowing you to pick and choose what content will be synced. For audiobooks, you may need to do the above in the "Books" section. For a visual instruction on how to do this, see the following:
iTunes 10: Sync to your iPod

    Thanks,
    Matt M.

Need software for my Mac to use my Cannon MX 340 Scanner / Printer

The latest software I found for that model was for Mac OS 10.7.
I expect you are running Mac OS 10.8 or Mavericks in which case contact Canon and see if they have updated their drivers for your MX 340 Scanner / Printer.

There are also free alternatives such as Neo Office.
You can also install the Office 2011 30 day trial if it's urgent.

  • Do I need my iTunes external disk plugged in for TM to see it?

    Hi
I have Snow Leopard 10.6.4. I have a separate External USB disk for TM, and another external USB disk for my iTunes library.
Now when I run TM, I make sure my other USB iTunes disk is plugged in so TM backs this up to (it does doesn't it?)
So basically is my iTunes external disk also backup along with my iMac internal HDD to the TM disk?
If I run the TM app, to see my iTunes backup does my iTunes external disk have to be plugged in?
So if I go away on holiday and put my TM USB external disk in a safe place, I know that I have everything backed up, eg internal iMac HDD, and my external iTunes library/disk?
    cheers

If it's formatted for a Mac, and not excluded via +Time Machine Preferences > Options,+ yes.

    Yes.

No, but while the drive isn't connected, those backups won't appear unless you select your +Computer Name+ in the sidebar, or before you enter Time Machine. See #E3 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
By all means, try that, to make sure it's getting backed-up.
So if I go away on holiday and put my TM USB external disk in a safe place, I know that I have everything backed up, eg internal iMac HDD, and my external iTunes library/disk?
    Yup.
    Two considerations:
If possible, don't leave the iTunes disk disconnected for more than about 10 days. After that long, it's possible Time Machine may do a new, full backup of it, rather than just the changes. But that also seems to be related to the volume of changes, so if you're on vacation for a couple of weeks, and not updating iTunes, it's not likely.
Time Machine was designed to protect you best by doing hourly backups. Since you have an iMac, under most circumstances it's best to leave the Time Machine drive connected at all times, with TIme Machine running. And disk drives are also engineered to be on 24/7, so having it on all the time won't shorten its life.

  • HT201250 TIME MACHINE FOR EXTERNAL DISK BACKUP

I intend to backup my music library (HD and iTunes in AIFF format, ca 800GB) which is located on an external USB drive to another external USB drive. Can I do this with Time machine? The mac book I am using has a different time machine connected to back up th einternal drive.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can do this, but you should make a new volume on your external disk. Time Machine needs a volume that is only used to store backups, so you can't store other data in the same volume as the one you are using for making backups.
If you want to create another volume on your external disk, use Disk Utility to do this > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html Anyway, you should get another external disk to store other files, but if you don't want to, you can create another volume in it

That looks exactly like the software I tried and an error reported this software will not install on this platform.  I will try again tonite and see what happens.  I will test all the apps on that list starting with the latest and see what happens. I thank you for your help.

  • Need recommendation for external HD

I need one that can boot my iMac externally since my seagate goflex will automatically go to sleep whenever I boot it from there where it will shut down my Mac.

    Basic Backup
Get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    SuperDuper!
    Synk Pro
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore.  Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files.
Although you can buy a complete external drive system, you can also put one together if you are so inclined.  It's relatively easy and only requires a Phillips head screwdriver (typically.)  You can purchase hard drives separately.  This gives you an opportunity to shop for the best prices on a hard drive of your choice.  Reliable brands include Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Toshiba, and Fujitsu.  You can find reviews and benchmarks on many drives at Storage Review.
    Enclosures for FireWire and USB are readily available.  You can find only FireWire enclosures, only USB enclosures, and enclosures that feature multiple ports.  I would stress getting enclosures that use the Oxford chipsets especially for Firewire drives (911, 921, 922, for example.)  You can find enclosures at places such as;
    Cool Drives
    OWC
    WiebeTech
    Firewire Direct
    California Drives
    NewEgg
All you need do is remove a case cover, mount the hard drive in the enclosure and connect the cables, then re-attach the case cover.  Usually the only tool required is a small or medium Phillips screwdriver.

  • Need Driver for external Monitor for Macbook Pro

Does anyone know where I can get a driver to utilize the output from my macbook pro to an external monitor?  It works great for my iOS but Windows 7 doesn't recognize any external monitor.

I've never seen an instance where an external monitor needed a driver.
What monitor? Did you download and install the Windows support software?

  • URGENT - need driver for external iSight

I am giving birth in a couple of days and need to do a video chat with my husband so he can see the birth. I'm borrowing a friend's iSight to use on my PowerBook G4. When I plug in the camera, I get a message from IOXperts WebCam Driver saying that I have an unlicensed camera and can only use the camera for 30 minutes before registering it (paying $20).
Is there any way that I can get the camera to keep working without buying the IOXperts driver license? (I have no idea how the driver got there at all...I am using my office computer).

    Hello rickmkc
Anyone brave enough to give birth in view of an office computer deserves some help.
However, you should certainly obtain permission before changing the software on someone else's Mac, particularly if the office Macs are centrally administered. In that case, whatever you change might be undone by the LAN Administrator as soon as it is reconnected to the office LAN.
When you are ready to proceed, remove (uninstall) the IOXpert driver. It is not needed for any Apple applications that runs under Mac OS X. The IOXpert driver cannot help you use your iSight, and it could cause you difficulty if you leave it installed where it is not needed.
If you do not know how to uninstall the IOXpert driver, see this IOXpert FAQ.
Everything you need to use iSight with Apple applications is included in Mac OS X.

  • Need advice for erasing disk/partition

    Hey everyone,
I currently have a Mac Pro that is partitioned with both Lion and Snow Leopard. I'm trying to un-partition the computer and wipe it clean - thinking of updating to Mountain Lion but would like to stay with Snow Leopard for now if possible.
I erased the Lion partition by using Disk Utility but now I'm wondering what the best way to clean the computer is.
When I go into Disk Utility and go to "Erase" it won't let me select Snow Leopard. I went to Disk Utility Help and it says "To erase your computer’s startup disk, you must start up from another disk, such as a Mac OS X installation disc."
This means that I need a hard copy of an OS installation disc before I can erase/clean Snow Leopard? Is it possible to buy the disc from Apple or are the OS systems only available for download through the app store now? Are they only selling Mountain Lion?
Any tips or advice here is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    ~ Hugo

What is wrong with your 10.6 Snow leopard installation that it needs to be "cleaned"? Macs generally do not need to be cleaned, as they do not accumulate filth.
How did you get 10.6 snow Leopard onto your computer in the first place?
    What model mac Pro ?
