Need to count character from an xml

Hi all,
I need to count character from a field. and store it in a variable. My datasource is from xml file.
Any ideas for the syntax?
thanks in advance,
Paolyn

Use <?string-length(FIELD)?> to get the count of characters.

  • Read from an XML previously created by LabView

    Hi everyone,
    My problem is, as the title says, I need to read Data from an XML file, if the file does not exist, LabView creates it. So far it works. After the creation though, when I go through the subroutine again and want to read the data back from the XML file, it brings me the Error Code 1006 and tells me something about not being able to read it since "the XML-Tag isn't the same type as the type of the variable connected." (roughly translated from German)
    The Variable I want to read something back to is a Cluster consisting of 2 Clusters constisting of 1) two numeric elements and 2) a string and a 1-D array of 12 numeric element.
    The part that's confusing me is, that LabView saved the data itself w/o problems and in its own XML format. So it shouldn't really bring up any problems reading it back to the same variable, now should it?
    If anyone has an answer, I'm happy about anything, this has been driving me nuts the whole day
    Thanks in advance and Regards,
    Pedro
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
    sorry for my vague description, lets try to fix this:
    For writing the XML-File, I use "Write To XML File.vi", the LabView standard XML writing VI.
    For reading from it again, I use "Read From XML File.vi", also the LabView standard.
    My LabView version is 8.5
    I'll attach some pictures and the created XML file which I hope will be of help.
    "Limits Template.png" is my Cluster to save the data in. As I said previously, the data was written from this very cluster, yet it cannot be read back to it. As you can see in there, the array is created correctly with 12 elements and their corresponding sizes.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Pedro
    EDIT: checked again, the error code indeed is 1106

  • Xml import from mutlitple xml files

    Is it possible to import different xml files for different locations within the same InDesign document?
    For example a single page has two text boxes. Text Box 1 needs to import data from File1.xml, Text Box 2 needs to import data from File2.xml, etc. Is this possible or will File1.xml and File2.xml need to be merged into one xml file?

    TurtleCruiser,
    One of the problems I have had is that I want the data to update through linking, but I've only managed to get one text box to update while the data in the other box disappeared. Since posting I have managed to achieve the desired result using InDesign Tagged Text. Ideally, I would like to use xml so I will see if I can achieve the same result with your method.
    Many thanks for your reply.

  • Arraylist.toString (need to count amount of a specific character in a list)

    hi
    I have a sql query that im using to populate a ArrayList<String>. I need to count the amount of "+" symbols in the all of the list. My first idea was to use Arraylist.toString and then run the resulting string through this method
    public static int countMsgs(String result){
              int counter = 0;
              for(int i=0;i<result.length();i++)
                        if(result.charAt(i)=='+')
                        counter++;
              return counter;However when I do this:
    ResultSet userid1021result = sql.executeQuery
          ("select address from MESSAGES where SENT_TIME >=  '" + start + " 00:00:00' AND SENT_TIME <= '"+ end + " 23:59:59' "
          + "and USER_ID = 1");
          while (userid1021result.next()) {
                  String addresses = userid1021result.getString("address");
                  userid1021.add(addresses);
          String blah = userid1021result.toString();
          System.out.println(blah);It outputs "com.mysql.jdbc.JDBC4ResultSet@1abc7b9" which is obviously not what i was expecting
    How do i get the contents of the arraylist into one big string so I can run it through my countMsgs method?
    Thanks

    Guys,
    Where a, b, and c are strings: plusesIn(a) + plusesIn(b) + plusesIn(c) == plusesIn(a+b+c)
    Ergo, concatenating the strings is just a waste of time.
    Also... I'd factor out the character-to-find from countMsgs to make a static helper method (in a "reusable" StringUtils class)...
    * Returns the number of times target occurs in string
    public static final int occurences(String string, char target) {
      int count = 0;
      for ( char c : s.toCharArray() ) { // 1.6 only
        if( c == target ) count++;
      return target;
    }

  • Need to insert values into a table from a XML file

    Hi,
    I'm an Oracle 9i/10g DBA with quite a few years experience, but I'm new to XML and dealing with it in database terms. I've been given a project that entails pulling XML values out of a file (or 100's of them) and storing them in the database so that they are searchable by end-users. The project is classified as secret so I'm unable to upload the specific XML or any info relating to the structire of the XML or the table I will use to insert the values into - sorry!! So, I've created an XML file with a similar structure to help people understand my predicament.
    The end-users only need to search on a subset of the total amount of columns from the table I'll insert data into, although the XML file has a lot more, so I dont need to store the other values - but I will need to store the name of the XML file (or a pointer to it so I know what XML file a particular set of values belong to) in another column of the table along with its associated values.
    I've been using the XMLTABLE function with some degree of success, although I had better succes using the XMLSEQUENCE function. However, I found out this is deprecated in 10g and replaced with XMLTABLE, so I guess it's better if I use this in case we ever need to upgrade to 11g.
    The main problem I've been having is that some elements in the XML files have multiple values for the one record when all the other records are the same. In terms of storing this in the database, I guess it would mean inserting multiple rows in the table for each element where the value differs. Here is a dumbed down XML file similar to what I've got along with the other SQL I've used:
    +<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>+
    +<House>+

    +<WarehouseId>1</WarehouseId>+

    +<Docks>1</Docks>+
    +<DockType>Side load</DockType>+
    +<WaterAccess>false</WaterAccess>+
    +<RailAccess>N</RailAccess>+
    +<Parking>Bay</Parking>+
    +<VClearance>20</VClearance>+
    +</Warehouse>+
    +</House>+
    CREATE TABLE xmltest OF XMLTYPE;
    INSERT INTO xmltest
    VALUES(xmltype(bfilename('XML_DIR', 'test.xml'), nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')));
    Consequently, I need to...
    1) Retrieve the results from the XML file for all 3 warehouses where multiple values for the same sub-element are shown as 2 rowsthe result set. (I am guessing there will be 4 rows returned as warehouse sub-2 has 2 different elements for <WarehouseName>.
    2) Build a case statement into the query so that regardless of the sub-element name (i.e State or County), it is returned into the 1 column, for instance County.
    So, if I run a query similar to the following...
    select y.WarehouseId, y.Town, y.County, y.Area
    from xmltest x, xmltable('/House/Warehouse' .......
    I would like to get results back like this...
    ID Town County Area
    1 Southlake Texas 25000
    2 Poole Dorset 40000
    2 Solihull West Midlands 40000
    3 Fleet hampshire 10000
    Sorry for the non-formatting but I hope this all makessense to someone out there with what I'm trying to do.
    I appreciate any help whatsoever because, as i said before, I'm totally new to XML and trying to read the vast amount of information there is out there on XML is all a bit daunting.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Shaun.

    Hi again,
    Thanks for keeping the post open for me. I've had a look at the post illustrating the XFileHandler package, and tried to alter it to make it fit with my XML files. To help explain things, my XML file looks like this:

    create or replace package XFileHandler as
      TYPE TRECORD IS RECORD (
        WID     NUMBER(2)
      , WACCESS VARCHAR2(5)
      type TRecordTable is table of TRecord;
      function getRows (p_directory in varchar2, p_filename in varchar2) return TRecordTable pipelined;
    end;
    create or replace package body XFileHandler is
      function getRows (p_directory in varchar2, p_filename in varchar2)
       return TRecordTable pipelined
      is
        nb_rec          number := 1;
        tmp_xml        clob;
        tmp_file         clob;
        rec               TRecord;
      begin
        DBMS_LOB.CREATETEMPORARY(TMP_FILE, TRUE);
        tmp_file := dbms_xslprocessor.read2clob(p_directory, p_filename);
        LOOP
          tmp_xml := regexp_substr(tmp_file, '<\?xml[^?]+\?>\s*<([^>]+)>.*?</\1>', 1, nb_rec, 'n');
          exit when length(tmp_xml) = 0;
          --dbms_output.put_line(tmp_rec);
          nb_rec := nb_rec + 1;
        select y.WID, y.WACCESS
        into rec.WID, rec.WACCESS
        from xmltable('/House' passing xmltype(tmp_xml)
                      columns WID NUMBER(2) PATH 'Warehouse/WarehouseId',
                                  WACCESS VARCHAR2(5) PATH 'WaterAccess') y;
          pipe row ( rec );
        end loop;
        dbms_lob.freetemporary(tmp_file);
        return;
      end;
    end;Now, when I run the query:
    select * from table(XFileHandler.getRows('XML_DIR', 'XFileHandler_test.xml'));I get the error: ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [17285], [0x5CFE8DC8], [4], [0x45ABE1C8], [], [], [], []
    I had a look in the dump file for anything obvious, but nothing really stands out. Is there anything obvious in my code that I'm missing or something else which you may think could be causing this error, e.g in the regular expression regexp_substr?
    Many thanks,
    Shaun.

    I see people from different ages at my work and every month I need to count how many people from each age I've seen that month. How can I do to give the entries to numbers in a single cell and make numbers count them for me? The final result would be a spreadsheet telling there were 8 people from 20 to 39 years old, 14 peolple from 40 to 59 and so on...

    This appears to be an 'input form' using 'Radio Buttons' to select the category. Neither of these features are supported in Numbers '09.
    You can input the data on one table and summarize it on a second table, but the input table will continue to hold data for each event.
    And by using the Reorganize button, you can hide all but two rows of that table to approximate the appearance and performance of an input form.
    Here are the two tables, Data on the left and Summary on the right. Notes below.
    The grey-filled columns in both tables are 'working' columns, and may be hidden (as shown in the image below).
    Data table:
    D1 contains the word "TRUE" (in capital letters). (This row is always shown.)
    D2 is empty, or may contain any value except "TRUE" (This row is always hidden under the Reorganize rule.)The rest of Row 2 of this table requires the data shown: a number outside the range to be counted (999), and two checkboxes, both checked.
    D3 (and filled down the rest of column D):   =AND(OR(B2,C2),NOT(OR(B3,C3)))
    The formula returns TRUE only for the first unused row in the table (ie. the first row for which neither checkbox has been checked)
    Summary table:
    Column A contains labels for the age ranges to be counted.
    Column B contains the same information in the form necessary for the formulas in columns C and D. They need a numeric value, and that value must be the largest acceptable value in the range to be counted.
    C2 (and filled right to column D, then both filled down to row 5):
        =COUNTIFS(Data :: $A,"<="&$B,Data :: B,TRUE)-SUM(C$1:C1)
    Two changes from the previous example:
    COUNTIFS is used to separate the Native and Foreign counts as well as the age range to be counted.
    The amount subtracted from each result is the SUM of the earlier results, and includes the text value in the first cell of the column (which is interpreted by SUM as a zero).
    See note below regarding my earlier formula.
    When the greyed columns are hidden and the checkbox in the Reorganize pane is checked, the two tables will appear as shown below:
    Close the reorganize pane, and the 'data entry form' is ready to use.
    To use, enter the age first, then check one of the boxes.
    As soon as one box is checked, the row will be hidden, and the next (unused) row will be shown.
    Regards,
    Barry
    Note regarding formula in my earlier post:
    The earlier formula will give erroneous results as it subtracts only the count directly above it from its count of persons in the age range 0-n.
    In E2 of that table, replace "-E1" with "-SUM(E1:E$1)
    Fill down to E8.
    Ignore the instructions (in that post) following "Fill down to E8."

    Hi,
    You need to declare the namespace of each element used in the XPath expression, like this :
    SQL> select extractvalue( XMLDATA
      2                     , '/samp:Field1/UTI/U01'
      3                     , 'xmlns:samp="http://www.oradev.com/chipsxml.xsd"' ) "XMLDATA"
      4  from chipsxmltable1 x
      5  ;
    XMLDATA
    No
    SQL> select extract( XMLDATA
      2                , '/samp:Field1/UTI'
      3                , 'xmlns:samp="http://www.oradev.com/chipsxml.xsd"'
      4                ).getstringval() "XMLDATA"
      5  from chipsxmltable1 x
      6  ;
    XMLDATA
    <UTI>
      <U01>No</U01>
      <U02>Y</U02>
      <U03>Y</U03>
      <U03a>Y</U03a>
      <U03b>Y</U03b>
      <U03c>Y</U03c>
      <U04>Y</U04>
      <U05>Y</U05>
    </UTI>
    Please see EXTRACT and EXTRACTVALUE documentation :

    BTW, "XMLDATA" is a pseudo-column used by Oracle. I don't know if it'll ever cause any conflict but maybe you should rename your column.

  • Need to count number of non-empty (not null) occurrences for an element in XML

    Hello,
        I have some XML data stored in a CLOB, there is a fragment shown below:
    <ADDR>
    <AutoNameOfOrganisation>2nd Image</AutoNameOfOrganisation>
    <AutoLine1>105 Risbygate Street</AutoLine1>
    <AutoLine2> </AutoLine2>
    <AutoLine3> </AutoLine3>
    <AutoU40.16>BURY ST. EDMUNDS</AutoU40.16>
    <AutoStateOrCounty>Suffolk</AutoStateOrCounty>
    <AutoU40.13>IP33 3AA</AutoU40.13>
    <AutoU40.14>UNITED KINGDOM</AutoU40.14>
    </ADDR>
    <ADDR>
    <AutoNameOfOrganisation></AutoNameOfOrganisation>
    <AutoLine1>2 2nd Avenue</AutoLine1>
    <AutoLine2> </AutoLine2>
    <AutoLine3> </AutoLine3>
    <AutoU40.16>HULL</AutoU40.16>
    <AutoStateOrCounty>East Riding of Yorkshire</AutoStateOrCounty>
    <AutoU40.13>HU6 9NT</AutoU40.13>
    <AutoU40.14>UNITED KINGDOM</AutoU40.14>
    </ADDR>
       What I would like to do is to be able to look at the whole of the xml and derive a count for a particular element where there is data .
       In the above case <AutoNameOfOrganisation> is not null in the first record and null in the second whilst <AutoLine3> is null in both records, so I'd like the counts to be 1 for <AutoNameOfOrganisation> and 0 for <AutoLine3>.
       The reason for this is so that I can avoid showing a column in a report if there is no data for that particular column in the results.
       I'm using Oracle 11G.
    Thanks for any help,
    Chris

    Here's one way :
    select count(AutoNameOfOrganisation)
         , count(AutoLine3)
    from my_table t
       , xmltable(
           '/root/ADDR'
           passing xmlparse(document my_clob)
           columns AutoNameOfOrganisation varchar2(30) path 'normalize-space(AutoNameOfOrganisation)'
                 , AutoLine3              varchar2(30) path 'normalize-space(AutoLine3)'
         ) x ;
    In your sample fragment there's no root element so I've added one to test the query (though it's also possible to work with real XML fragments).
    You may also omit normalize-space() calls if empty nodes are really empty. In your sample, there's a whitespace so I've added the function to strip it off.

  • I need to count intermittent high speed pulses from an outside source with cFP-CTR-502 and labview.

    I need to count intermittent high speed pulses from an outside source with cFP-CTR-502 and Labview 8.2 . I've found example code for generating pulses and creating intricate count setups but no straightforward examples of a simple counter. Any suggestions?

    Hello tinfish,
    I could not find a simple example that implements simple counting either, but it should be straightforward enough for us to try. Do you have the CTR module configured properly in MAX? If so, can you monitor the channels on your CTR 502 for input? Try connecting a square wave or some other digital pulse to the terminal to test the functionality of the counter module first (before programming). If you monitor the input channels with somethign connected you should see the count increment each time it sees a rising edge (assuming default configuration).
    Once you've verified that everything works in MAX, you can set up your CTR module in a LV 8.2 project. If you need help with this, refer to the help document (look in the "Configuring FieldPoint in LabVIEW" section):
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\FieldPoint\documentation\Online Help\fplv.chm
    You should be able to just read a channel tag from your CTR 502 using an FP Read VI. (Simply drag the channel from your project onto the block diagram). Since counting is the default behavior of the 502, there is no special programming involved to make it work.
    I hope this helps -- if it's too high-level we can talk details about specific questions you have.  Have a good one!

  • How to get a value from Specific XML Node

    Hi all,
    I'm just trying to introduce to XMLType and see the potencialities of that.
    DB version:
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.5.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.5.0 - Production
    CORE     10.2.0.5.0     Production
    TNS for IBM/AIX RISC System/6000: Version 10.2.0.5.0 - Productio
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.5.0 - Production
    I'm a table with just one CLOB field:
    CREATE TABLE asm_test
    (doc XMLType NOT NULL)
    XMLTYPE doc STORE AS CLOB;
    Then i've inserted the following XML data:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    - <ReceiptDesc>
    <appt_nbr>2142473</appt_nbr>
    - <Receipt>
    <dc_dest_id>401</dc_dest_id>
    <po_nbr>2142473</po_nbr>
    <document_type>P</document_type>
    <asn_nbr />
    - <ReceiptDtl>
    <item_id>509720</item_id>
    <unit_qty>83.0000</unit_qty>
    <receipt_xactn_type>R</receipt_xactn_type>
    + <receipt_date>
    <year>2012</year>
    <month>09</month>
    <day>17</day>
    <hour>15</hour>
    <minute>33</minute>
    <second>49</second>
    </receipt_date>
    <receipt_nbr>6902340</receipt_nbr>
    <container_id>1</container_id>
    <to_disposition>ATS</to_disposition>
    <user_id>NTCPO01</user_id>
    <catch_weight />
    </ReceiptDtl>
    - <ReceiptDtl>
    <item_id>509740</item_id>
    <unit_qty>17.0000</unit_qty>
    <receipt_xactn_type>R</receipt_xactn_type>
    + <receipt_date>
    <year>2012</year>
    <month>09</month>
    <day>17</day>
    <hour>15</hour>
    <minute>33</minute>
    <second>49</second>
    </receipt_date>
    <receipt_nbr>6902344</receipt_nbr>
    <container_id>1</container_id>
    <to_disposition>ATS</to_disposition>
    <user_id>NTCPO01</user_id>
    <catch_weight />
    </ReceiptDtl>
    </Receipt>
    </ReceiptDesc>
    And then i have started to make some tests to retrieve data from.
    SELECT EXTRACTVALUE(doc, '/ReceiptDesc/appt_nbr') FROM asm_test; -- got the correct value 2142473
    SELECT EXTRACTVALUE(doc, '/ReceiptDesc/Receipt/dc_dest_id') FROM asm_test; ---- got the correct value 401
    select count(*) from asm_jam_test d where (d.doc.getClobVal()) like '%NTCPO01%'; -- got 1
    But i need to find a Specific data from XML (the main goal is to update a value inside XML).
    If i try this:
    select extract(doc, '/ReceiptDesc/Receipt/ReceiptDtl/item_id/text()').getstringVal() from asm_test
    where existsNode(doc,'/ReceiptDesc/Receipt/ReceiptDtl/receipt_nbr') = 1;
    got: 509720509740 -- which are the concatenate of 2 Item_ids
    when i try to find out the Item_id of specific receipt_nbr i got a NULL response.
    select extract(doc, '/ReceiptDesc/Receipt/ReceiptDtl/item_id/text()').getstringVal()
    from  asm_test
    where existsNode(doc,'/ReceiptDesc/Receipt/ReceiptDtl/receipt_nbr') = 1 and
    extract(doc,'/ReceiptDesc/Receipt/ReceiptDtl/receipt_nbr/text()').getstringVal() = '6902340';
    What i'm doing wrong or which is the best way to get data from XML?
    Many thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Thanks for providing db version and sample data in the first place.
    Don't forget to use the &#x7B;code} tags to preserve formatting.
    Also, when posting XML, do not copy/paste directly from your browser as it retains +/- signs and therefore needs extra processing on our side.
    select count(*) from asm_jam_test d where (d.doc.getClobVal()) like '%NTCPO01%'; -- got 1No, don't do it like that.
    Use existsNode() function in this situation :
    SQL> select count(*)
      2  from asm_test
      3  where existsNode(doc, '/ReceiptDesc/Receipt/ReceiptDtl[user_id="NTCPO01"]') = 1
      4  ;
      COUNT(*)
             1
    when i try to find out the Item_id of specific receipt_nbr i got a NULL response.Yes, that's because this :
    extract(doc,'/ReceiptDesc/Receipt/ReceiptDtl/receipt_nbr/text()').getstringVal()returns :
    69023406902344So obviously it cannot be equal to '6902340'.
    When you have to deal with repeating nodes individually, use XMLTable function to break the structure into relational rows and columns.
    The resultset you'll get acts as a virtual table (or inline view) you can then manipulate with SQL operations :
    SQL> select x.*
      2  from asm_test t
      3     , xmltable(
      4         '/ReceiptDesc/Receipt/ReceiptDtl'
      5         passing t.doc
      6         columns item_id     varchar2(15) path 'item_id'
      7               , receipt_nbr varchar2(15) path 'receipt_nbr'
      8       ) x
      9  ;
    ITEM_ID         RECEIPT_NBR
    509720          6902340
    509740          6902344
    Now, you can just add a WHERE clause to filter the RECEIPT_NBR you require :
    SQL> select x.item_id
      2  from asm_test t
      3     , xmltable(
      4         '/ReceiptDesc/Receipt/ReceiptDtl'
      5         passing t.doc
      6         columns item_id     varchar2(15) path 'item_id'
      7               , receipt_nbr varchar2(15) path 'receipt_nbr'
      8       ) x
      9  where x.receipt_nbr = '6902340'
    10  ;
    ITEM_ID
    509720
    That can also be achieved with EXTRACTVALUE and a single XPath expression (assuming RECEIPT_NBR is unique) :
    SQL> select extractvalue(
      2           doc
      3         , '/ReceiptDesc/Receipt/ReceiptDtl[receipt_nbr="6902340"]/item_id'
      4         ) as item_id
      5  from asm_test
      6  ;
    ITEM_ID
    509720

    Is it possible to read the structure of one xml-document? I need to know what data are exists in the xml-documents.
    I had read some hours here, but I dont find a suitable solution for that.

    Regards,
    Mark

    Hi,
    I was on a wrong way. The datatype is not stored in xml, this was a mistake from me.
    I needed something to printout some values from a xml-file. This xml-file was generated bei MS Excel. The data are in /Workbook/Worksheet/Table/Cell and I didnt know how to access it.
    I write for that the following:
    DECLARE
    v_xml XMLType;
    v_doc dbms_xmldom.DOMDocument;
    v_node dbms_xmldom.DOMNode;
    type t_values is table of varchar2(2000) index by binary_integer;
    v_values t_values;
    type t_table is table of t_values index by binary_integer;
    v_table t_table;
    procedure node_output (v_node in out dbms_xmldom.DOMNode)
    is
    v_nodelist1 DBMS_XMLDOM.DOMNodeList;
    v_nodelist2 DBMS_XMLDOM.DOMNodeList;
    v_anzahlnodes number;
    v_anzahlrows number;
    v_node_c dbms_xmldom.DOMNode;
    v_xmlmitarbeiterid number;
    begin
    v_nodelist1 := dbms_xmldom.GETCHILDNODES(v_node);
    v_anzahlrows := DBMS_XMLDOM.GETLENGTH(v_nodelist1);
    if v_anzahlrows = 0 or DBMS_XMLDOM.GETNODENAME(v_node) = 'Table'
    then
    if v_anzahlrows > 0
    then
    for i1 in 0..v_anzahlrows - 1
    loop
    v_node := dbms_xmldom.Item(v_nodelist1,i1);
    v_nodelist2 := dbms_xmldom.GETCHILDNODES(v_node);
    v_anzahlnodes := DBMS_XMLDOM.GETLENGTH(v_nodelist2);
    for i2 in 0..v_anzahlnodes - 1
    loop
    v_node := dbms_xmldom.Item(v_nodelist2,i2);
    v_node_c := dbms_xmldom.GETFIRSTCHILD(v_node);
    v_node_c := dbms_xmldom.GETFIRSTCHILD(v_node_c);
    v_values(i2) := DBMS_XMLDOM.GETNODEVALUE(v_node_c);
    end loop;
    v_table(i1) := v_values;
    end loop;
    for i1 in 1..v_anzahlrows - 1
    loop
    select SEQ_XMLMITARBEITER.nextval into v_xmlmitarbeiterid from dual;
    for i2 in 1..v_table(i1).count - 1
    loop
    dbms_output.put_line(v_table(i1)(i2));
    end loop;
    end loop;
    end if;
    else
    v_node := dbms_xmldom.GETFIRSTCHILD(v_node);
    for i in 0..v_anzahlrows - 1
    loop
    v_node := dbms_xmldom.Item(v_nodelist1,i);
    node_output(v_node);
    end loop;
    end if;
    end;
    BEGIN
    select inhalt into v_xml FROM xmlimport WHERE name = 'F23973/mitarbeiter.xml';
    v_doc := dbms_xmldom.newDOMDocument(v_xml);
    v_node:= dbms_xmldom.makeNode(dbms_xmldom.getDocumentElement(v_doc));
    node_output(v_node);
    END;
    This gives me all data from a xml-Excel-file. Is there a better way to do that? I have Oracle 10.2.

  • Check whether the selected character is an xml open/close tag character...

    Hi Everyone,
    I am using InDesign CS4 and i need some help from you.
    Is there any better way to check the selected character is an XML open/close tag character in the text instead of using the unicode.
    Thanks in advance
    Thiyagu

    I'm having trouble understanding your requirements. I think you're trying to remove the zero-width non-breaking spaces that don't hold tags. Is that right?
    If that's the case, you don't really have to worry about the tags. You can do a normal find and replace:
    app.findTextPreferences.findWhat = "<feff>";
    app.changeTextPreferences.changeTo = "";
    app.activeDocument.changeText();
    It will match the characters that hold the tags, but won't remove them. Actually, it will say it removed them, but won't actually do it—or will replace them immediately? I don't know.
    (As far as I know, there is no way to match the 0xfeffs with a grep find, which is what it looks like you were trying. It would be super awesome if there weren't as many different  notations for unicode characters as there are means of finding them.)
    If you're trying to remove the characters that hold the tags, I think your only option is to untag the elements. You can't remove the 0xfeffs but keep the tags.

  • Need to add alphabet coordinates in xml file for typewriter file

    I have a flash typewriter file which displays text that is
    preloaded inside the flash file. It has an animated pencil that
    "draws" out each character. It gets it's letter coordinates from an
    xml file and I would like to add a few more symbols so it would
    draw them out. How do I get started on figuring this out. The
    coordinates in the xml file must have been generated by some kind
    of software because I can't imagine the author of this file hand
    wrote each one. I tried to contact the author but I think they're
    too busy or not interested.
    thanks

    Hi Frantzy,
    The link does not give enough explanation. What I am assuming is if you have xml string in one field then if you need to add new line after each tag then you can follow that.
    If you want a udf where you want to insert a new line use this udf:
    Create a Value UDF with one input argument 'a' and name the udf as addnewline. Then add this code:
    Imports: java.*;
    String lines;
    lines = "";
    lines = lines.concat(a + '\n' );
    return lines;
    Then where ever you want a new line just add this udf in your mapping. If you want a new line for 10 fields then you can put in all the 10 fields.
    Example:
    Source field --> logic --> udf (addnewline) --> target.
    So after logic if you have the value as 123 then in the target you will see 123 followed by a carriage return.
