Need to create a percentage formula

OK I am trying to create a percentage formula for the following.
B8 is 638.00 and C8 is 731.00 I want the result to tell me what the % is -/+
I am not getting how to create this formula. I am new to this.

Wrong.
An increase from zero budget to a budget of any amount cannot be expressed as a percent increase.
Any increase expressed as a percentage is expressed as a percentage of the starting amount.
Suppose the budget for this position for 2011 was 750.00.
100% of that amount is 750.00.
A 100% increase from the 2011 budget would then be the original budget (750.00) plus 100% of the original budget (750.00), and the new budget would be 1500.00.
But the 2011 budget for this position was 0.00.
100% of nothing is nothing.
A 100% increase is nothing plus nothing.
A 200% increase is nothing plus (nothing x 2).
A 1000% increase is nothing plus (nothing x 10)

I think a clearer expression would be "show how you got this result (235%). Copy the formula and paste it into your message. show the values that were in each of the cells referenced in the formula." Like Wayne, I'm mystified by this result.

0 is defined, and has been for centuries. 0 is not illegal. But division by 0 IS 'illegal' in the sense that it is not permitted in mathematics because its result is undefined. Simple example:

This works pretty much exactly as you've written it.
In D15, enter: =B15-C15
Grab the Fill control handle (small circle) and drag down two rows to fill the formula into D16 and D17.
Results will appear in each cell as the formula is filled into that cell.

I'm trying to create a custom formula for for our Order entry. I want to be able to put in the quantity, list price, and discount percent and have it calculate what the extended price will be? The formula I came up with was (ListPrice * Discount1/100)* Quantity1 but that didn't work.

Only if your discount percent field is formatted as "Number" and not as a 'Percentage".
Images do not provide enough detail about the form, scripts, fields, field formats, etc to be much help.
Are you getting any error messages in the JavaScript console?
Change the format for the result field to "None" and observe the result.
Your code is definitely not JavaScript that would work in an Acrobat form field.
Are you using LiveCycle Designer to make your form?
Are you using the "Simplified Field Notation" option?

Need Help figuring out a percentage formula

Hi, I have a simple percentage formula that i' struggling to figure out.
I need a formula to work out what A7 is as a percentage of the figure in B4. So in other words what 54.66% of £1998.14 is. Does anyone know how to do this?
I need to use the percentage in A7 as part of the formula as the percentage is updated automatically when other values are changed.

I am not sure I am understanding what you are saying. So let me explain my form a little better or at least try too.
I need to know the Coverage % of the Revenue and the formula I thought would work in formcalc is
CoverageRevenueTotal / NetRentalRevenueTotal
But it is not coming up with the right percentage. What am I doing wrong?

I am trying to calculate percentage in a Crosstab. But I am getting wrong results. Here is the desired report results

Here is the formula for Percentage. This formula gives wrong results in Crosstabs. But gives correct results if used in a Sub-Report or main report. It has Percentage Difference calculation.

My issue is creating a difference percentage formula using summary columns and placing it as a third column.
In the CrossTab, Region is added to the row (as a group), the first Summary Column is ACTUAL and second one is TARGET. I just added these two columns to the summary using CrossTab Expert. I want to calculate the Percentage as a third column. The percentage formula I need to use is SUM(ACTUAL-TARGET)/SUM(TARGET) for each region.
I tried playing with the formulae like I mentioned above. I tried different combinations like aggregation, without SUM, Changing the Summary to Percentage etc.. But I got wrong percentage values in all cases. Please let me know if you need any more information on this.

You do need a separate formula for each group of values to be summed.
If the values are in columns, you need a copy of the formula for each column.
If the values are in rows, you need a copy of the formula for for each row.
If you set up your formulas as SGIII did in his example (shown below), where every non-header row has the same formula, Numbers will automtically add the formula to new rows as you add them.
"Same formula" in this context means exactly the same as all the formulas above, with one exception: the row reference in each formula is incremented (by Numbers) to match the row containing the formula.
Here the formula looks like this in the three rows shown.
B2: =SUM(2)
B3: =SUM(3)
B4: =SUM(4)
That pattern will continue as rows are added to the table.
Also, because the row token (2) references all of the non-header cells in row 2, the formula will automatically include new columns as they are added to the table.

No it isn't new in Netweaver 7.0.
Left hand side - > Keyfigures - > Calculated Keyfigures - > Right Click - " CKF "
You shud see keyfigures existing on the Infoprovider & other RKF's , CKF's existing on the query under "Available Operands "
When u create a formula ( which is local ) u may not see the keyfigures which doesnot exist in columns - u shud hav the keyfigures in the Columns to use them in the formula - u can use in the formula & to avoid them on the report jst hide em.

Hi,
You have correctly identified.
To achieve the filter on HDREN_DT, you can declare an exit variable & write the code behind. But here I'd suggest implementing logic like Date greater than or equal to System date (instead of removing dates less than System date as it will improve the querying.
For the 2 CKFs, you can try the formula variable concept.

I need to create and use array (multidimensional) inside a formula node. My LabVIEW version is 5.1.The input and output from/to formula node do not necessarily being array. Thank you.

You need to declare a variable to be an array. To declare a multidimensional array of 32 bit intergers enter this:
int32 VarName[x][y];
Where x=1st dimension size (rows) and y=2nd dimension size (columns). You can then operate on this like you would an array in a text based language. Try the entering the example below in a formula node.
int32 i;
int32 y[5][2];
for (i=0;i<5;i++)
y[i][1] = x[i]+1;
Where y is an output and x is an 1D array input.

Hello,
I need to create a formula that validates whether a PC file exists or not to display a message ('File Found' or 'File not found'). I created a custom formula that displays the appropriate message based on a report field composed of the FilePath + FileNameWithExtension that works correctly if the field includes a value or not (Basic Syntax below):
If {ctDocumentImages.ImgPath} <> "" Then Formula = "File Found"Else Formula = "File not found"End If
Now I want to validate that the {ctDocumentImages.ImgPath} value corresponds to an existing file; that is, I need to check that the file specified at {ctDocumentImages.ImgPath} location truly exists to determine that the file is actually 'found'. How can I accomplish this?

Go to database expert, create new connection, select file system data, your starting directory will be
genplex\E\JEMS51_Server\Imaging\Int\2007\..... you can then report on the file names found in that directory / subdirectory, etc... When creating the link you can select all files, or just *.rpt for example
Ok, so you define more than one connection on your report to be able to access the File System Object, right? The problem is that my reports are generic and meant for distribution for customers where no generic base folder will exist. The value of the starting directoy is then unknown, FilePath+Name then can be any value.

Create total time formula

1.     I have columns of time/date values in this format: 0:02:50 (meaning 2 minutes and 50 seconds).
        I would like to add theses values up, then find the average.
        So, if I have 10 time values, I need to get the total sum of the time and then divide by 10.
        How do I create a formula in Crystal Reports to do this?
2.     The above time values are part of a Group. I plan to hide the details and show just the Group "average" (computed in Step 1)
        How/where do I place this in my report?

1) create a new formula named Seconds (to place on the Details section) with syntax like
timevar t := {your time field};
numbervar s:=(hour(t)*3600) + (minute(t)*60) + second(t);
2) right click on the Seconds formula and choose Insert > Summary > Sum and also change the Summary Location to be your group
3) now right click on the Seconds formula again and choose Insert > Summary > Average and change the Summary Location to be your group
4) right click on the Summary and choose Format > go to the Common tab > Display String and enter this syntax which will change the output of the formula from seconds to a readable time display.

Help!!....I need some sort of a formula!!

My application displays graphs from given data and I need to somehow get it to show between 8 and 12 tick marks on the x and y axis. They also have to be rational values i.e. 120.0 130.0 140.0, etc not like 120.25432 or 132.5363 or 143.94. The program can put the tick marks at regular intervals already but not rational values. I seem to need a tick mark everytime the integer part changes by 1, 2, 2.5, 5, 10, 20, 25 or 50. This sequence would repeat for hundreds: 100, 200, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 2500, 5000 and so on for hundreds of thousands. I don't need ticks at 40, 60, 3500, etc unless these numbers fall naturally into the above sequence. This requirement also repeats for the fractional part as well: a tick every 0.1, 0.2, 0.25 or 0.5 units.
I need to find a formula for "every XXX" depending on the level of the sequence.
I would need between 8 and 12 ticks on a "normal" screen 800 x 600 pixels. E.g. if the graph runs horizontally between 0 and 841ms then the 1000-scale would be too rare. Same for 500, 250 and 200 scales. The 100 scale would be ok as this would display 8 ticks, but the 50, 25, 20, 10 scales, etc, would be too dense. I need a formula to automatically make the decision that the 100 scale would be the one to use.
The program also knows how to adjust the "base number" of ticks on the axis so that the labels don't run into each other. Possibly assume that base number of regular ticks plus/minus 20% of that number. E.g. 8 to 12 ticks become 10 ticks +/- (20% of 10 == 2) == 10 +/- 2 ticks. If user reduces the window, the base number may become 5 or 4. In that case the scale will be 5 +/- 1 tick or 4 +/- 1 tick (20% of 4 == 0.8 approx 1).
Your help would be really, really appreciated as this needs to be sorted in the next week or two and I'm really stuck with this one!!

To determine which scale to use first find the span of your axis Sx = Xmax-Xmin. You need to find which increment, when multiplied by the number of ticks N you wish to display, will cover this span.
The pattern of numbers that you specify (1,2,2.5...) is not a regular pattern and therefore cannot be elegantly implemented with a simple formula. You need to create a lookup array that contains these values, then create your series by scaling that array by powers of ten.
Start at an arbitrary scale, say, dx = 1 and find out if N * dx > Sx. If so, reduce dx to the next lowest increment in your series and repeat until N * dx > Sx is no longer true.
If N * dx < Sx you need to increase dx and repeat until you achieve N * dx > Sx. Your previous value of dx will be your "magic increment".
