Hi all,
WE have a Bex query which uses formula based on function "%GT" [SUMGT].
Thus, external access cannot be enabled for the query & universe cannot be built on it.

Based on those documents you can easily create.
    1. First create variable (Mandatory) user input
    2. Posting date is avaialble as char you will get
    3. need to calcualte difference b/w those 2 dates  you can refer below  By using replacement path we can convert both dates into get difference.

    4. now need to create  Bucketing logic  formula  as per requirement above documents will give idea.

  • No. of Connections needed for creating universes from SAP BEx Queries

    Hello,
I have 8 SAP BEx queries, my task to create to universe for all of these queries. I have created a datasource connection, my question here is can I use the same connection for all the queries by changing datasource connection and selecting the new query or is it suggestable to create 8 datasource connections in universe designer??
please let me know if you need any more info.
    Your reply is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Naresh

    HI,
You need to create 8 connection for 8 BW queries. There is  one to one mapping in the universe. If you change the existing connection source then it will not work for earlier query.
Other thing you can check like you have 8 queries then instead of creating 8 universe if possible then merge some queries in the single bw query and then create universe.
    Thanks,

  • How to create Text Variables in BEx Query Designer

How  can i create Text Variables in Bex Q.D.
I am able to create characteristic variables
but i can't find option to create text variables.
What's the requirement to create Text variables in Bex Q.D.
When i try to create Text variable for 0calDay.. the variable type is characteristic by Default and disabled.
How can i create text variables related to 0CalDay with which i need to work in Customer Exit.

    Hi,
You have to create characteristic variable processing by Customer Exit by considering 0CalDay as a Reference Characteristic
After creation of the above variable, you restrict your KF with the above created variable.
Now you can create a Text variable for the description of your KF. This way it works...........

A database error occurred. The Database error text is: The MDX query SELECT { [Measures].[ZPrice] } ON COLUMNS, NON EMPTY CROSSJOIN( [ZVNAME].[LEVEL00].MEMBERS, [ZVID1].[LEVEL00].MEMBERS) ON ROWS FROM [$ZICTEST] failed to execute with the error.

  • Create aging bucket in BEx - based on  date variable

    Hi everyone,
I have a report for which we need to create account receivable aging bucket to classify arrears (1>29 / 30>59 / etcu2026).
Our solution overall architecture is the following :
Source System (SAP) >  BW back end...Multiprovider > Super BEx Query > Universe > Webi Report
    BW 7.0
    BO XI 3.2 SP3.0
In this report, each bucket is defined by the difference between:
    -     the Net Due Date (which is the due date of payment of the invoice)
    -     and the Current Date (date for which the report is run u2013 can be the date of the day or a date in the past)
We can develop this either in BEx or in Webi, but to avoid potential performance issues in Webi, we take the try to develop this in BEx.
As you can easily imagine, this BEx query will be used for many reportsu2026so not only for this specific report.
    What weu2019ve done so far:
1-     We created a variable to prompt the user with the date he wants to run the report for
               - ZTEST is an optional variable, single value, User input, based on characteristic 0CALDAY
2-     We developed RKF in BEx
    -     Key Figure restricted by Amount
    -     Net Due Date restricted by the variable ZTEST using the between function and an offset (to determine the range)
=> When we save the query we are getting a warning message saying u201CVariable ZTEST for characteristic Net Due Date has been converted to a required entryu201D
Why? (you probably knowu2026) Because my RKF is using a variable with an offsetu2026which automatically turn on my variable as mandatory and no more as optional.
    Consequences:
    -     In BEx: My variable, which is required to be optional (because we donu2019t have to have this field as mandatory for each and every report running on top of this query) is now mandatory.
    -     In Webi: If I use the variable (funnel in webi), my report is working fineu2026but if I donu2019t use it in the webi report, I get an error message saying u201Cvalue required for ZTESTu201D
o     Funnel is configured as optional in the universe designer (so the issue is not coming from here)
    => 2 consequencesu2026same issue
Question: What can we do to keep our bucket logic running in BEx and avoid this variable to become mandatory?
    Solutions (potential)
    -     Create a custom exit routine to work around this issue u2013 how?
    -     Create CKF/Custom exit to create our bucket (using ZTEST as an entry value to determine the range) and then use the created range in our RKF to restrict the amount u2013 how? Not so easyu2026
    -     Build the logic in Webi
    -     Any other suggestions?
Here we are, any advice would be really appreciated
    Thank you guys
    Regards
    Henri

    Hi peeps,
We finally find a solution for this problem! So I can share it with you.
The overall solution is pretty easy to understand.
1st step is to prompt with the user with a 0DATE variable. The date selected becomes a date input for the next step.
The variables is defined as a range [01/01/1900;variable_value)...in order to retrieve the right data set.
2nd step is to use this date to create our aging bucket, dates range.
To do so, we created 4 user exit variables (for each aging bucket).
3rd step is to use these ranges in RKF.
This way you get aging bucket dynamically defined by the user input pretty cool!

  • Formula Variable in Bex , Urgent

    Hi Experts,
I have created a formula variable on 0Material with replacement path as processing type. I am using this formula variable in a formula that i have created. The formula works fine.
However , when i create another formula variable on 0Prod_hier ( which has a navigational technical name 0MATERIAL__0PROD_HIER ) with replacement path as processing type, The formula which i have created doesnt work.
    Ex:
    1) ('MAT_FORM' == 100010001)'NET_SALES'10  , This works fine
    2) ('HIER_FORM' == 10000010000001)'NET_SALES'10    . This fails.
Iam using the same formula process but with different formula variables , i cant understand why the formula is failing
I have checked the data, in the cube and the infoprovider (0Material has 0PROD_HIER data) , but i am stuck as to why the system is not recognizing the prod hier values,
    Kindly help me on this,

    Hi,
    Please read the following:
BEx Query Designer: Creating formula variables
You have loaded data into your InfoProvider. To be able to use sign reversal in reporting, you have to define a formula variable in the query definition:
           1.      You are in the Query Designer. Under Key Figures, use the context menu to choose New Formula. The Formula Builder opens.
           2.      Under Formula Variables, choose New Variable from the context menu. The variables wizard appears.
           3.      Enter a name and a short text for the variable. Choose Replacement Path as the processing type.
           4.      Choose your hierarchy basic characteristic.
           5.      Choose Hierarchy Attribute as the replacement. The attribute Sign Reversal is automatically displayed.
           6.      Save your formula variable. When defining the formula variable, you get the factor 1 or –1, with which you can multiply the required key figure.

  • Function module to create formula profile : Device Management/ EDM

    Hi experts!
We create Formula profile against register 2 of the bi-directional device using transaction EEDM06.
We create profile header by using function module "ISU_S_PROFHEAD_CREATE" but this function module doesn't have input parameter that need to passed specifically creating Formula profile like-
Formula Prof. Calc = ZNET (fixed)
Status Group = (i.e., value valid, est man, changed/entered, from date) fixed
Profile = Profile1 as allocated to RG-002. (always)
After saving this Formula profile header, allocate the profile to Device is also couldn't be done using function module ISU_S_PROFHEAD_CREATE .
Please help me is there specific function module to create Formula profile. If you need any clarification, please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

you could also create a master data template in EPRODCUST for MD Template Category   INSTALLATION & EDM_PROFHEAD if you need to create the profile header.
We've wrapped some in function module interfaces for easy automation.
ISU_S_LPASSLIST_MAINTAIN is an internal function, so I dont recommend building anything on it.

  • Ad Hoc Formula Definition in BEx Web

    Hello,
I´m searching how to use the smart-input / AdHoc Formulas within the BEx Web (in BEx Analyzer it is not a problem).
    I found following statement:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/a4/eb1442be645133e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
Release 7.0 Support Package Stack 14
I got exactly this system status in my test system, but I could not manage to execute the adhoc formula feature in a query (I don´t have the context formula within calculations and translations) - like it is described here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/47/0a20fc60585bebe10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm
Is there something else I got to take care of? Some system setting? Also I got the SAP GUI 710.
    Can anybody help me?

Edited by: Sandra Schmidbauer  on Jul 1, 2008 5:57 PM

    Hi,
I just found out that there is a different in step 5 of the Define Exception Wizard between an ad hoc exception created in BEx Web Analyzer and an exception created in Query Designer.
Step 5 is to set characteristic restriction.
I was not aware there is a different between exceptions created in Query Designer and BEx Web Analyzer.
Exception created In Query Designer: In step 5, it stated that "For all characteristics, the exception has no restrictions as long as none of the following settings are selected"
Ad hoc exception created In BEx Web Analyzer: In step 5, it stated that "For all characteristics, the exception affects only the results as long as none of the following settings are selected"
If you have filters applied to some characteristics that are not drill down/across in the query result, you must include them in the characteristic restriction of the exception.  Otherwise, the query result will not be affected by the exception.
E.g., Drill down by Plant, filter Fiscal Year by 2008.
In step 5 (of ad hoc exception), must include both Plant and Fiscal Year in the characteristic restriction.

    hi ,
i need to create a filter on my report .
the filter for field contract end date.
for exammple - the object which i need to create the filters (HDREN_DT -
Remove records with value < System Date
) this is the logic so what i need to do i want to go for customer exit or what
    need to create 2 CKF
Earliest Doc Header End Date     Calculated KF     Min (HDREN_DT)
Oldest Doc Header End Date     Calcualted KF     Max (HDREN_DT)
Can anyone give some idea how can i go with this one.
i choosen a formula variable with replacement path for the both the fields. whether this option is right or wrong.
please help me in this one
    Regards ,
    vijju

    Hi,
    You have correctly identified.
To achieve the filter on HDREN_DT, you can declare an exit variable & write the code behind. But here I'd suggest implementing logic like Date greater than or equal to System date (instead of removing dates less than System date as it will improve the querying.
For the 2 CKFs, you can try the formula variable concept.

  • Inventory forecast help - dynamically creating formulas?

    Post Author: ddenise
    CA Forum: Formula
I am writing a report that reconciles sales orders to inventory - essentially, group sales orders by the scheduled production date, list out all the parts that are needed and forecast the impact on inventory, highlighting any areas where inventory is foretasted to go negative. The results right now look like this:                               Part          In Inventory          Needed         Inventory RemainingOrder Number 567     Product Number 311187          Part Number 8111234          100                  5                  95          Part Number 8111235      Product Number 311189          Part Number 8111234          100                 6                  94
Part Number 8112235 You can see the problem is that once I calculate "Inventory Remaining", the next instance of part 8111234, should have an "In Inventory" value of 95, NOT 100, but 100 is what is stored in the database.  The next time that part number is used, the database value is pulled and 100 is displayed.  A running total or summary won't work because they cannot be used on 2nd pass formulas/variables; "Inventory Remaining" is a formula evaluated on the 2nd pass. The result that I NEED to come out would be:                                Part          In Inventory          Needed         Inventory Remaining
    Order Number 567
         Product Number 311187
              Part Number 8111234          100                  5                  95
              Part Number 8111235
          Product Number 311189
              Part Number 8111234          95                  6                  89
Part Number 8112235  So.... I am thinking that I need to create a formula that does the following while records are printed:Check to see if a variable whose name is equal to the part number that is being printed (in this case "8111234") and if it doesn't exist, then create it, setting it's value to what is in the database (in this case "100")Use the variable's current value, subtract the quantity of those parts that are needed for the current record being printed and updated the variable's value to this difference. If the variable does already exisit, then use it's current value to display in the "In Inventory" column and,Use the variable's current value, subtract the quantity of those parts
that are needed for the current record being printed and updated the
variable's value to this difference. What this would do is essentially, dynamically create variables that can be used for display and other evaluation and update the particular variable that is related to the part number that is being printed. Has anyone done anything like this before?  I'm sure I'm not the first to encounter this situation.  Also, if there are other ways to solve this problem that Crystal can handle, please advice - I cannot seem to find any other solution. Regards,
