Percentage formulas

Help! I need to create a formula for getting the percentage of something. Can you help?
I need to know how to get the percentage of this.
Here is what I got.
CoverageRevenueTotal / NetRentalRevenueTotal

I am not sure I am understanding what you are saying. So let me explain my form a little better or at least try too.
I need to know the Coverage % of the Revenue and the formula I thought would work in formcalc is
CoverageRevenueTotal / NetRentalRevenueTotal
But it is not coming up with the right percentage. What am I doing wrong?

  • Need Help figuring out a percentage formula

Hi, I have a simple percentage formula that i' struggling to figure out.
I need a formula to work out what A7 is as a percentage of the figure in B4. So in other words what 54.66% of £1998.14 is. Does anyone know how to do this?
I need to use the percentage in A7 as part of the formula as the percentage is updated automatically when other values are changed.
The screenshot is below and a link to the screenshot is here in case yo can't see it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ji7qdxmh4ymkby/Screen%20shot%202014-10-04%20at%2012.2 2.34.jpg?dl=0

  • Need to create a percentage formula

OK I am trying to create a percentage formula for the following.
B8 is 638.00 and C8 is 731.00  I want the result to tell me what the % is -/+
I am not getting how to create this formula.  I am new to this.

    Hi kat,
"In 2012 the town added a postion and the cost was 1500.00 (b7) This position did not exist in 2011 (c7).  This resulted in a 100% increase to the budget."
    Wrong.
An increase from zero budget to a budget of any amount cannot be expressed as a percent increase.
Any increase expressed as a percentage is expressed as a percentage of the starting amount.
Suppose the budget for this position for 2011 was 750.00.
100% of that amount is 750.00.
A 100% increase from the 2011 budget would then be the original budget (750.00) plus 100% of the original budget (750.00), and the new budget would be 1500.00.
But the 2011 budget for this position was 0.00.
    100% of nothing is nothing.
A 100% increase is nothing plus nothing.
    A 200% increase is nothing plus (nothing x 2).
    A 1000% increase is nothing plus (nothing x 10)
"HMMM I am not sure I understand what you mean by "describe what you got"?"
I think a clearer expression would be "show how you got this result (235%). Copy the formula and paste it into your message. show the values that were in each of the cells referenced in the formula." Like Wayne, I'm mystified by this result.
"now that I know that 0 is not a defined value and is illegal."
0 is defined, and has been for centuries. 0 is not illegal. But division by 0 IS 'illegal' in the sense that it is not permitted in mathematics because its result is undefined. Simple example:
I have three halloween treats left in the bowl. Zero ( 0 ) children come to my door calling 'trick or treat.' If I share the treats equally among the children, how many must I give to each child so that I have no treats left over?
"I will just put in 100% in the cell and move on to other things."
Ummm... 'I don't understand this, so I'll just pull a number that 'looks right to me' out of the air, plug it in, and move on." How does putting a wrong value into your budget make the budget turn out right?
    To your next topic/question:
" I am going to want this set up like so
    b15-c15 goes into cell d15
    b16-c16 goes into cell d16"
This works pretty much exactly as you've written it.
    In D15, enter: =B15-C15
Grab the Fill control handle (small circle) and drag down two rows to fill the formula into D16 and D17.
Results will appear in each cell as the formula is filled into that cell.

  • Crosstab Percentage  Formula

I am trying to calculate percentage in a Crosstab. But I am getting wrong results. Here is the desired report results
    ...........................ACTUAL.......TARGET.....PERCENTAGE
    North East .........100.................80.............25%
    South East.........200.................120 ..........67%
    West.................200 .................180...........11%
    Central.............200...................250.......... -20%
Here is the formula for Percentage. This formula gives wrong results in Crosstabs. But gives correct results if used in a Sub-Report or main report. It has Percentage Difference calculation.
    ((sum({@Actual},) - sum({@Target},)) / sum({@Target},REGION}))*100

    DebiHerbert,
My issue is creating a difference percentage formula using summary columns and placing it as a third column.
In the CrossTab, Region is added to the row (as a group),  the first Summary Column is ACTUAL and second one is TARGET. I just added these two columns to the summary using CrossTab Expert. I want to calculate the Percentage as a third column. The percentage formula I need to use is SUM(ACTUAL-TARGET)/SUM(TARGET) for each region.
I tried playing with the formulae like I mentioned above. I tried different combinations like aggregation, without SUM, Changing the Summary to Percentage etc.. But I got  wrong percentage values in all cases. Please let me know if you need any more information on this.
    Thanks!

  • HT3354 How do i create a column with a percentage formula

Im really struggling creating a line of columns with different formulas.
    colin

The title of your post and the text of your post sound like two different questions. One is about creating a column of percentages and the other is about a "line of columns with different formulas".  Neither gives enough information about the problem for anyone to provide a good answer, unless we guess at what you are asking. Here is my guess:
If B2 has a number in it and C2 has the formula =B2*5%, C2 will be 5% of B2. If you copy/paste or fill-down that formula to the rest of the column, C3 will be 5% of B3, C4 will be 5% of B4, etc.
I have no idea what "a line of columns with different formulas" means so I'm not going to hazard a guess.

  • Increasing percentage formula, rounding up in Numbers '09

Having a hard time with numbers formulas... I need to increase a sum by 9%, rounding up. I have this formula: =roundup(81.09,0) but I know I am missing something.
    Anyone? Bueller? Thanks so much!!
    **blip**

ROUNDUP(81.09,0) will round 81.09 to the nearest higher whole number = 82.
To increase a number by 9%, you multiply by (1+9%) or 1.09.
    81*1.09=88.29
If you want to round it up to a whole number then it would be ROUNDUP(81*1.09,0) = 89

  • Help with multiple date percentage report

    Dear all,
I am having problems with getting percentage right on my report which is set to YTD however I am counting records for Last 5 days, Last 4 weeks and Current Date.
I am getting the records perfectly right as I have created 3 different Groups for them. The Running Totals are counting the correct number of records.
As I have two Running totals for each job (Credit Job + Free of Charge Job), these two jobs are getting added up in the report.
    For example
    YTD formula
Running total of Credit Job + Running Total of Free of Charge Job = Total Jobs
    Last 5 Days formula
Running total of Credit Job + Running Total of Free of Charge Job = Total Jobs
    Last 4 Weeks formula
Running total of Credit Job + Running Total of Free of Charge Job = Total Jobs
    Current Date formula
Running total of Credit Job + Running Total of Free of Charge Job = Total Jobs
To get the grand total of these records, I have created another formula which counts all the above YTD records, L5D records and displays them in the report footer. Grand Total is showing up correctly.
Now, What I want is the percentage of each record, i.e. the percentage of YTD records, L5D records etc.
I have created a formula which counts the percentage but incorrectly.
    Here is the formula
    Whileprintingrecords;
    Numbervar b:=0;
    numbervar n:=0;
    numbervar m:=0;
b:={@TotalJobsFOCRL5D}; // this is total job, (Credit+Free of charge jobs)
n:={@TotalJobsFOCRL5DGT}; //GT is the grand total showing in report footer
    If b=0 then 0 else //if total jobs = 0 then answer is 0
m:=(b/n)*100; // divide total jobs with grand total
    totext(m,2)+"%"; //show as percentage
This formula does show the percentage but divides each job by itself. So if Total Jobs = 9 then it shows 100% whereas Grand Total is 479.
Could someone please help me getting the correct percentage.
The percentage formula is placed on the respective group footer.
    Regards

    Vanessa Hi Vanessa,
what happens if :qty2 is zero?
    it raise zero_divide exception.
so u need to write exception handler for that case
    ur code will look like
    function percent1Formula return Number is
    v_percent number;
    begin
    v_percent := (:qty1 - :qty2) / :qty2 * 100;
    return(v_percent);

    when zero_divide then
<do what u want to do in this case>
    return(....);
    when others
<do what u want to do in this case>
    return(....);
    end;
    hope it is clear.

  • Want to crate a dynamic formula depending characteristics

    Hi experts,
I want to create a query which calculates the following:
I have some products, some factories and the variable month.I want to find what percentage of product A  is produced in factory A month by month.(also for product B in factory A, product A in factory B and so on)
The problem is that I can not select the characteristic values in query designer while creating a formula.I also tried to calculate it in workbook but I failed.Because the number of rows and columns is not constant depending which month the user selects. So the formula calculates wrong things as the place of the things changes.
    Thanks in advance...
    Regards,
    Sunny

You will have to create "selections" or "restricted KF" for each factory product combination e.g FAC_A_PRD_A. Using these selections you can build a percentage formula as FAC_A_PRD_A / Total qty.
When you suppress zeros on the query it should only display combinations where qty is not 0.

  • CrossTab Insertion Formula

I have a crosstab table in my report in which I have two calculated members.
Let say that I have A,B,C,D colums and B and D are calculated members.
I know how to modify the order of the calculated member through the Insertion formula but I need my columns in the following order:
    A,B,D,C.
I do not know how to make reference in the insertion formula to a calculated member, so that both of my calculated members are set one next to the other. I am using the following insertion formula and it works for the first calculated member but not the second. This in my formula. Any help will be greatly appreaciated.
    GetColumnGroupIndexOf(CurrentColumnIndex)=1 and GridRowColumnValue("test") = "A"

  • Count the number of records in a group

    Hi ,
My requirement is to display in the BI reprt - records in Order Entry Line Items based on several conditions on the fields.
If the above conditions do not returm any records ,show an error message - NO DATA FOUND.
1.checked in standard RTF templates where its a simple example as if :not(//servicereq).
But ,my RTF has serveral conditions on the group.
2.Is there a way to take a count of records in the group which statisfy the given condotions,so that I can checkif count = 0 .dislay message.
    Apreciate your help.
    Regards.

    Ummmmm...no I didn't, hate to admit it.
Added the declaration to the 2 percentage formulas. Now I do get results for the percentage...they are just wrong. Only pattern I've found is that if the running total of Int or Ext is 1, the percentage is 11.39. If it is 2, the percentage is 22.78 and so on.
Each percentage is a multiple of 11.39 depending on the respective running total calculation. Maybe you can see what I have obviously missed.
    NAME........TOTAL.......TOTAL Int........% Int........TOTAL Ext........%Ext
    Burberry........20..............4..................45.56.............16 ..............182.23
    Cellarosi.......11..............1 .................11.39.............10................113.90
    Chalkley.......19..............2..................22.78.............17................193.62

  • Record count per group

When building a report in APEX, and using the break columns setup, how can you show a count at the bottom of each group showing the number of rows?
I had thought I have done this in the past, but can not find an example of doing it now..
    Any ideas or suggestions?
    Thank you,

  • Calculation in crosstab report

    Hi
i am using visual studio 2003 to devlop reports.
In a cross tab report  i took description, aspect as row and id as column and pointvalue in summarized field.
    now my report look likes
    d1   a1    0     1    1(total)      50%( percentage 1/2)
    how to calculate percentage.
    Thanks.

well when you place any field in the row of the crosstab it makes it as a group anyway. So asking whether it is mandatory or not is not a question. It will do it as default.
You have to adapt the same concept of percentage as what you do in other reports, if the percentage in the crosstab is not coming out as expected or you want to change it then you can use either Display String (X+2) under format field, to display different percentage.
Let me give you an example which might help.
I have a report which calculates number of days against number of jobs. So x jobs took x amount of days. Later I had to add percentage to it so what did I do?
Number of days - Jobs - Percentage
    1 (Row) - 12 - 13%
    2 (Row) - 11 - 12%
    3 (Row) - 14 - 16%
    4 (Row) - 13 - 15%
Used a formula to calculate number of days and placed it in row. Placed Jobs under Summarised field. Placed percentage (which is exactly the same field as Jobs) under summarised field.
On percentage field right click field while report is in design mode and clicked Format Field-->Comman tab->Display string--->Placed my percentage formula there.
Refresh the report and whola! it works
    Hope this helps

  • What is #NUM!   value that appear in certain cells...?

    Hi friends,
    [Disco 10.1.2.2 - Desktop 10.1.2.54.25 - DB: 9.2.0.8]
I've just migrated from disco 4i to disco 10. For some reports with aggregation values, disco 10 shows values wrong. To correct the failure, I've unchecked in Tools Menu->aggregation tab the "Use the aggregation behavior selected by the Discoverer manager" option. The option now is the "Show N.A. ..."
The problem is that for certain reports, it appear the value #NUM! in aggregation cells and in totals.
I've searched a lot about migraiton problems and I've a SR opened in metalink with this problem for 2 months... but without clarify at all...
    Help please... Ideas?
[I've tried to chage the format of cells to all type of format data, but in certain reports it doesn't work and the #NUM! value continues there... For total values.. I have no possibility of change format so.. what to do¿?]
    Jose L.

    Hi again,
I'm trying differents combinations with the formula calculation and the values of regedit entries:
    - AggregationBehavior
    - AllowAggregationOverRepetaedValues
But the #NUM! persists on Total Lines.
Some of the notes I've reviewed (341207.1,334414.995,...) point to try to check the "Show the Sum of Values displayed in the contributing cells" (aggregation tab), but.. although this changes the #NUM! value for a numeric amount.. this is not the correct amount. This would be the Sum of the column values instead of the percentage/formula based in values of the corresponding line...
Also I've see that there are several Bugs in relation with this error.. although with different versions..
    -BUG 4383676
    -BUG 3479888
    -BUG 3696935
    -BUG 2424417
    -BUG 2407710
It seems to be a relation between the use of the DECODE in the formula, the aggregation and the #NUM! value but ... I don't see anymore...
    Any ideas?

  • Help with Running Averages and Graphs on Ipad3

I am new to Mac, slowly learning but quickly falling in love with it.
I need to keep track of our basketball teams free throw percentages for 5 team and for each kid. The coaches are asking for, made shots, missed shots, total attempts and their percentages and then an running average of their percentages.
I created a spreadsheet for each team and seperate tabs for each kid (attached image) in Numbers on the ipad which will allow me to add their made and missed shots (=sumB2+C2). It then gives me the total of attempts and then gives me that percentage (=B2/D2) all good here.
This is now what I am trying to see if I can do, I want to be able to just fill in the blank fields day to day or as they shoot and then have it just update the running average on the bottom without me having to adjust the cells to re-calculate.
If I select cells E2 to E25 the error comes up Cell "E4" contains an error. I know it is cause no figures are entered in the row yet. Is there away around doing the percentage formula so it just shows blank in the row without the error show it will do the running total or a way to have it calculate the running total even with the error?
Can I take the overall averages from each kids sheet and creat a graph on a seperate sheet just showing the overall averages?
If so, will the graph automatically update as I update my numbers or will it have to be created again each time?
    Thanks for all the help.

    1) Welcome
    2) Empty cells return 0 (zero)
    3) anything divided by zero is infinite (and not legal, mathematically speaking)
so you should wrap your formula in an iferror() function to screen errors out.  For the "Percentage" column you should do something like:
    E2=iferror(B2/D2, "")
As long as B2/D2 is a valid result the iferror() passes the answer.  If, however, D2 = 0, then iferror() will "catch" the error and return "" this is an empty string.
Charts do automatically update in Numbers.  I don't actuall have Numbers for an iOS device (you posted to the forum dedicated to Numbers on Mac OS X).
The iWork for iOS forum is located here:
