Need to determine machine is ON / OFF ?

On network for a given IP address, I want to detrmine if that particular machine is ON / OFF ?
How come I can achieve this ?

It has been proven that this is impossible to do as you have no way of distinguishing machines that are slow, those which hang and those that are actually off.
Since this does not really help in practice, you just assume a certain maximum response time. You ping the remote machine and schedule a timeout. If the machine answers before the timeout triggers, it is on. Otherwise you just assume it's gone.
There is no ping() method that maps to the standard shell ping. So you can either have a Java application on the other side answering your pings, or you go with Runtime.getRuntime().exec("ping <machine>") and parse the output of the returned Process.

If you don't have a back up then you'll need to use a file recovery app like File Salvage
To back up iPhoto you make a copy of the Library on another disk.

Time machine is turned off but my startup disk keeps filling up with backup files on a hidden volume.

My Time Machine is turned off but my system startup drive keeps filling up with backup files in a hidden volume. How can I stop this? When Time Machine was turned on, the destination was set to an external drive. I was completely confused about what was happening until I used Houdini to reveal the hidden volume. I have no idea how it got created or why it keeps filling up with no backup application running to my knowledge. Thanks.

Boot in safe mode. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
There is a difference between remembering the name and password in the Password Manager and a "remember me" check box on a web page to log you in automatically.<br />
The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and that is send to the server.<br />
If that "remember me" cookie is removed or gets corrupted or is not send to the server then the server won't remember you anymore and you need to sign in once again.
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the Cookies
*do not clear the Site Preferences
*do not clear the Saved Passwords
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

Need to determine data type of free characteristic in multiprovider

I need to determine the data type (e.g. numeric vs alpha numberic) of a free characteristic in a multiprovider. Can this be accomplished in BEx Query Designer?
If not, can it be accomplished in RSA1? How?

its not possible via Query designer..
give that object name if it is infoobject then you can get via RSD1

My iphone 5 screen needs to be turned on and off twice (hit the top button or home button, then turn off the screen again, then hit one of the buttons again) before I can slide the screen to unlock it. Also, when I was using it yesterday, the volume on my music was sliding up and down by itself, it clicked on albums by itself and wouldn't register my touch, the song kept pausing and playing by itself, and when I backed out of the app, all my running apps started sliding back and forth across the screen as if I were running my finger back and forth extremely fast. It also then opened the phone app, started to call one of my contacts, and wouldn't let me hang up. My phone is relatively new (got it back in June) and I haven't dropped my phone at all, haven't gotten it wet, etc... The only thing I've done to it recently is install iOS7. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?

Took my phone to the Apple store this week and they told me it was a hardware/screen malfunction. They replaced the screen for free since it was under warranty. Now it works fine again!

Macbook Pro seems to be bricked by ML install. Upon restart it shows a progress bar which makes it to about 15%, and then the machine simply shuts off. Help?

Title pretty much says it all. Install seemed to be going fine, then upon restart it hit a gray screen with a progress bar for about 30 seconds. Once the progress bar makes it to about 15% the machine simply shut off. I tried turning the machine on again a few times, but each time I had the same issue. I then tried running the 10.8 recovery disk, but it just showed the gray spinning wheel for about 6 hours. Any ideas?

Something similar issue with me too. Intallation went fine. Then it started updating java once reboot it got stuck on grey screen. It wont boot at all. That spinning wheel keeps on going forever. :(

Need to determine plant and storaeg location for item in delivery

Hello All,
I have an inbound IDOC which changes the quantity of items in a delivery and also adds new items if necessary. I need to do a auto PGI also if required.
Am using BDC to update the delivery. Now the problem is when I add a new item to the delivery. I add the material, quantity and Unit recieved from the IDOC. I need to determine the plant and storage location and fill that too in the delivery.
Kindly let me know how I can determine these two values. Which table holds this data?
Please note that I am changing only the delivery. The document preceding the delivery wont be changed.

normally the plant is determined on this basis:
customer inforecord (table KNMT)
customer master (KNVV)
material (MVKE)
The storage location is determined in table TVKOL based on:
shipping point (you have it in delivery header LIKP-VSTEL)
plant (see above)
storage conditions (material master MARA-RAUBE)

Evetually yes.
If your pictures have been in the same location (same folder, same subfolder, ...) for more than a week, then copies if them will remain in your TM backups until it fills up. They are then vulnerable to being deleted.
If they've been there for less than a week, TM could delete them as early as a month from now. If they've been there for only a few hours, chances are TM will delete them tomorrow.
This is why TM is not the best tool to use to archive data that you will be deleting from your main hard drive. Copy them to a dedicated external drive, or burn DVDs.

No such app exisits or can exist. Apple doesn't allow 3rd party apps to access core functions of the phone. Time to get your phone replaced or repaired if assistive touch doesn't needs your needs.

1. using javaw instead of java which will bypass the console.
2. using an if condition

I need to delete all my pictures off of my iPhone because I have run out of storage. I have downloaded all pics to my mac but is my entire camera roll backed up on iCloud as well? I just want to make sure before I delete them from the phone.

Backup your Mac. (At least the iPhoto Library)
Backup to iTunes.
Backup to iCloud. (Check in Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>Manage Storage>your device name>Camera Roll ON).

To create accruals and post payables, the system must first of all determine the correct G/L accounts for posting in FI.
Before the system can determine the G/L accounts, certain settings must be made in Customizing. In the IMG, select: Logistics Execution -> Transportation-> Shipment costs -> Settlement -> Automatic G/L account determination. The settings required are described in detail here.
G/L account determination is carried out automatically. The following parameters are used for determination:
Chart of accounts
Valuation grouping code
Transaction key
Account grouping
Valuation class
G/L account determination can be carried out at shipment cost item level or you can have the system carry out posting at delivery or delivery item level for a more detailed process.

Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars - go to the Accounts section, choose the account to delete, scroll to the resulting page and tap "Delete Account".
