Need to display variable descriptive text in a report

Does anyone know of a way to display the descriptive text for user entry variables in Crystal Reports? I've tried a couple of methods in the past (a subreport going against master data and building an array of text valued from the data) but each has method has some significant drawbacks. How are customers dealing with this right now? I have been encouraging them to be satisfied with the technical names, but that doesn't go over very well.

Look like no one had any thoughts. I'll just close this one down for now.

while creating the fieldcatalog pass the value 'X' to field do_sum of lvc_t_fcat( field catalog).
data: fcat type lvc_t_fcat.
fcat-fieldname = <field-name>.
fcat-ref_table = <ref-tablename>.
fcat-ref_field = <ref-fieldname>.
fcat-do_sum = 'X'.

I just wanted to check with you whether I understood your comment correctly.
It's not possible to directly specify a physical file location path, like it is specified for HTTP URL +<c:import url= http://...+, that would internally/automatically convert in one of the form - Reader, Source, Document, String.
It can only be produced/specified explicitly in one of the form - Reader, Source, Document, String.
Am I correct in my understanding?

Use READ_TEXT and concatenate the first lines of the text.

Packaged CCE 9.03 - Display Reason Code Text in CUIC report

The (Stock) Agent Team Real Time report includes a Reason Code field, but not the descriptive Reason Code Text (or Name). Is there any way to present the descriptive text or name in the report?
Please note that we have CUIC standard.

Comparing Handled on an Agent report to Answered on a Call Type report is tricky, since depending on your call flows the two values can be vastly different. If you're looking at Answered and Handled on the same report (Call Type Historical All Fields should have both), there are opportunities for either value to be higher than the other within any given interval or across multiple intervals.
Generally, if Answered is higher than Handled in one interval, then Handled is going to be higher than Answered in one of the intervals after that (though not necessarily the one right after - depends on call length). In the database, Answered is incremented in the interval when the call is answered, Handled is incremented in the interval when the wrap-up completes. So a very basic example would be with a single call - Say the Agent picks up an inbound call at 8:56am, and hangs up and completes wrap-up at 9:07am... The 8:30am interval would show 1 call Answered and 0 Handled, while the 9:00am interval would show 0 calls Answered and 1 Handled.

I could see some posts already in this regard but could not follow it and hence posting my query.
In the defaut MEDRUCK PO form I could see that the line item text is displayed with the following statement.

INCLUDE &T166P-TXNAM& OBJECT &T166P-TDOBJECT& ID &T166P-TDID& LANGUAGE &EKKO-SPRAS& PARAGRAPH IX
I have my customized version of MEDRUCK and in that I want to include the same. How do I achieve this ??
I tried to include the above statements as it is, but it did not work. The same is the case with my header text requirement. Its corresponding statements in MEDRUCK are

INCLUDE &T166K-TXNAM& OBJECT &T166K-TDOBJECT& ID &T166K-TDID& LANGUAGE &EKKO-SPRAS&
What could be wrong ??

May be you are using these statements in wrong text elements in PO sapscript.
Keep in mind that &T166P-TXNAM&, &T166P-TDOBJECT&, &T166P-TDID&.... are variables and there values are filled by sapscript calling program.
Now it is possible that in your case you are putting this include statement in wrong text element. To check this you can print the variables just before include statement to make sure that values are correctly populated such as
&TTXIT-TDTEXT&
Printing Values: &T166P-TXNAM&, &T166P-TDOBJECT&, &T166P-TDID&
INCLUDE &T166P-TXNAM& OBJECT &T166P-TDOBJECT& ID &T166P-TDID& LANGUAGE &EKKO-SPRAS& PARAGRAPH IX
If the values are not populated, you may want to populate these manually by calling an abap routine before include statement and in that abap routine you can populate values for TDOBJECT, ID, and other relevant fields.

How can I display Account description text from country-specific CoA ?

The below quote is from the description of Country Chart of Accounts in OBY6.
"The essential programs in General Ledger can output either the unique worldwide number or the country-specific number and the corresponding text."
I am not able to figure out how to configure reports so that the country-specific number and corresponding text is displayed in programs. When I run reports such as FBL3N, the program is picking up information from the global CoA. Please help!

To view the GL line item in Country Chart Account, Run Report S_ALR_87012332. In selection field choose alternate account in outout control.
System will give the Detail as per Country Chart of Account.

Need to change auto generated text from pdf report

I have implemented pdf but it generated text from the autogenrated xml.
If I need to change that text then what should I want to do for that?

I need to display my Blob image in my report (and also on form page)

I followed the APEX advanced tutorial for uploading and downloading files. I have created a form on a table and that table contains a column of datatype BLOB. Now I want to be able to display the (Blob) images that I have uploaded.
As I research the topic, I get the feeling that displaying the BLOB image can only be done in APEX 3.1 and up. Is this true? I have that version of APEX installed on my laptop and have successfully completed the "Defining and Viewing BLOB Data in Oracle Application Express 3.1" tutorial found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/apex/apex31nf/apex31blob.htm
But I could not do it on the company server that runs APEX 3.0
Even if I did get the approval to have the company APEX application upgraded to 3.1, there still is the issue of scaling the images so that they are not so large. I understand that there is a UTIL.APEX function "GET_BLOB_FILE_SRC" that would do this for me. I read the documentation at:

After reading it, I was still not clear as to how to use it correctly. Is there any documentation on how to implement this function in APEX?

OK, now I would like to be able to call the image using a Region Source of type SQL instead of the HTML Expression. The reason for this is because I need to use logic to determine if the file is an image or not and to determine wether to show a thumbnail or just a link. I did find a "GET_BLOB_FILE_SRC" Function on the internet that suggests that I could do this but I need some help in making it work in my application.
Here it is as a Region Source of type SQL:

Need to display TEXT in web selection screen

HI All,
We are working on CRM-BW modeling. We have one field called "product" which will have key and medium text. We need to display both key + text in web reporting selection screen. When we ran first time text was not showing in web report. Then we found and change the configuration in search help in SE11 for that field. Then we can see the text+key combination in RSRT but still we can't see the text in web report selection screen...
Now what we have to do to display text in selection screen on web...
Please give your inputs ASAP.....we are in UAT phase....

Hi Arun,
For you case: Display key & text in selection screen.
In BW,
You can go to query designer, then you'll go to the info-object belong to the variable (selection-screen : product). Right-click, find for the properties, Then you'll see the option for <b>display as</b>.
Choose it for Key and text.
Then save it.
Go to the report, in the selection screen, when you're choosing for the help, you'll see the value displayed by key & text.

Displaying HTML formatted text in JavaFX problem

Hello,
I need to display formatted HTML text in JavaFX (1.3.1).
The text for example is: "<html>abc<b>d</b>efg</html>"I found the way to display it by wrapping Swing JLabel component or using SwingLabel component.
When I launch the application from NetBeans it works fine.
When I launch the application from browser (IE, FF, Chrome) it works ok ONLY the first time I enter the page.
When I enter the page next time I do not see any text.
I can solve it by clearing browser cache OR clearing Java cache (removing just my jar and jnlp files from cache do not helps).
Any suggestions?

1. I do not have directory you specified, I have C:\Users\[USER_NAME]\Sun\JavaFX\fonts folder instead (Win 7, 32 bit)
2. In this directory I have only one file: Amble-Condensed.ttf
3. Unfortunately, I can not delete the file (or folder) from the function you suggested, because the file is in use by Java (I can not delete it even from Windows Explorer)
Another thing I found: the text is displayed properly after I close the browser or go to another page that do not have applets...
Any other solutions?

i dont think so, that you can do something like that
when you design a new report using WebI, where is report has been saved?,, answer is NO WHERE, coz its still in memory, you dont have physical file for this report
so i dont think that there is an option for this thing.

Text Variable(Customer Exit) displays variable name instead of its value.

Hi Gurus,
My requirement is to display the year(from variable) as the field name i.e Year end salary 2009.
I was using the fields name as hardcoded values like 2009 but as per my requirement i need to display it from the variable.
I tried using Text Variable using customer exit, but I'm getting variable name(zvariable) instead of value(2009).
Please help me out, many thanks in advance.

Actually I tried to create a Text Variable with Replacement Path.
But here the problem is that we have a Characteristic Variable (Customer Exit) which is not listing in the selection box of Replacement Path.
Hence we tried to create another Text Variable (Customer Exit) and refering to the same Customer Exit code.
