Need to enable a Field in oracle form- Urgent

I have a search from where i need to fill the customer number and if its a valid customer number it should automatically enable the next filed ie.. customer name. Can not use the 'TAB' out functionality on customer number to enable customer name.
Can anyone say me the logic for it

What I understand from the question is, you want the customer name field getting enabled without 'tab'bing out of customer number?
Maybe you can use the post-text trigger in the customer number field to set the properties of customer name as Sri and Craig suggested.
An alternative approach would be,
1. Keep both the items enabled.
2. In the when-new-item-instance trigger of customer name write this code -
IF <customer_num NOT valid OR customer_num IS NULL> THEN
message('FRM-XYZ Invalid Customer Number.');
go_item('customer_num');
END IF;
This obviously, won't disable any item but serve your purpose w/o much hassles.

Requirement is when ever I make change in the project_start_date in project_block, that should reflect in role_block.start_date. I tried different means and could update only the very first record of the multi-record block - role_block. I need to update all the records in the role_block with the same project_start_date. Used looping and several other methods. But could not achieve. Any help is really appreciated.

Do u want to update corresponding column (specific filed) of role_block when updating project_start_date in forms? How may rows will be updated for one project_start_date update ? one or multiple or all ?

Enable/disable fields in Workspace form

Okay here is my scenario. I need to disable some fields on a form depending on which user logs onto workspace to open the same form.
1. User1 logs onto workspace and opens leave request form, fields at the top of the form are enabled for the user to fill out, bottom fields which are for leave request administrator to fill out are disabled but visible.
2. User1 fills out top portion of leave request form and completes form. Workflow sends form to leave request administrators "To do" list in Workspace.
3. Administrator opens up submitted form in Workspace and sees User1's filled out data on the form and the bottom fields are now enabled for administrator to approve or dissaprove. Bottom fields only include two check boxes, two text fields and one date field.
Now how is this done? I am sure their maybe scripting involved? if so what is it and at what events in the form? Is this whole process done in the form or through Admin UI or Workebench as well? Please help!!!!!!!!!

You can use the same form and enable/disable some fields according to the user's role with only little scripting. Review the steps the below:
1-First place a hidden field ("user_role") in your form
2-Insert a script object into your form onder "Variables" in object hierarchy and write a script for enabling/disabling the fields (regarding the value of "user_role")
3-On the initialize and change events of the "user_role" call your script object
4-On your process design, put a SetValue service before User tasks. In the asssignment you should set the desired user_role to the form, so that the script is triggered in your form and the fields are enabled/desiabled

okay,
place your treeitem in the layout. The treeitem has to the only item in the block and property "Single record" has to be true.
To populate your tree with data you can either
- use a query to populate a treeitem have a look at this thread Tree Menu
- use the Ftree.Add_Tree_Node built-in and program your own logic.

How to view field name for a field in Oracle form?

I was told you can do this but I forgot how.
If you want to build a report, but don't know what the field name is in Oracle, you can open up the Oracle form and find the screen with that field name and do a trick that tells you the Oracle field name. Any help?

Hello,
Backing up a database is not the work of an Oracle Forms user. It has to be done by a Database administrator. There are several ways to backup a DB, cold or hot, with export/import, by copying the datafiles, ...
None of this methods have any relation with Oracle Forms, so have to be launched as external programs.
If the client has those utilities installed locally, you should use the Webutil Client_Host() built-in to start them.

I need to create form which can be use for two purposes. i.e insert and update
I have one table called emp which has 50 columns.
Only four columns has not null constraint.
I need to insert values in only these columns.
From SQLPLUS it can be cone as below:
insert ito emp values ('333','2222','007','AA','01-JAN-2007','','','','','','','','','',........);
After that I need to update one of the coulmn with the value as
update emp
set zipcode = 'Y'
where empt# = 007;
How could I achive this from Oracle form.

Why handle updates in the On-Update trigger? Oracle Forms already handles this for you. You update a data value in a field and click on the SAVE button (assuming you have a Save button) and the Oracle Forms handles the Update. The On-Update trigger is provided so you can perform processing in addition to the default UPDATE.

I will ask, but it would be good to ask in the Oracle Forms forum as well. Many tools recognize the interMedia columns and automatically handle them since they now can say "Oh, this is an image column, I know how to handle this". I am not sure where forms is in this regard.

JavaBean not working with Oracle Forms (URGENT)

I have written a Javabean program which I invoke from Oracle Forms. The program is designed to pass a parameter from the form to the bean and get a parameter back to the form from the Javabean. The bean is called on the when-button-pressed event of a form button. The problem is, the form doesnt seem to invoke the bean at all. There seems to be no communcation between the form and the bean at runtime on-click of the form button other that all the messages in the form procedure being displayed.

The Javabean is called on "When-Button-Pressed" event of a Form button. The problem is, Form doesn't seem to invoke the bean at all. There seems to be no communication between the Oracle Form and the Javabean at runtime.
     On-click of the Form button though all test messages in the Form trigger are being displayed (Even message before and after the Set_Custom_Property & Get_Custome_Property). The only issue is the Form variable doesn't show the returned value from the bean. So the big question is - Whether the bean is invoked at all or not.
     If YES then how to check it and if NO then how to communicate with the bean from Oracle Form. I am attaching the code of Javabean and trigger code.

Question about hot key to jump between fields in oracle form

say I have bunch of orders to upload,
at the order number field I type in the number
and move the mouse to click on next line to type another number
how can I use some hot key to replace the mouse movement.
I know if use tab key several times you can come to the next line eventually, but is there any better hot key just move to the next line?
my purpose is to automatically upload bunch of orders, and bypass the mouse move, if there is some similar case study material, I really appreciate.

There is one built-in to move to the next record programatically. Like...
NEXT_RECORD;It is a restricted procedure check the forms help.
In your case can use on KEY-NEXT-ITEM trigger.
or if you are uploading from any file or any other source then also you can use this built-in in your code while uploading.

Newbie needs help can't compile an Oracle form 10g

I am trying to compile a form in Oracle 10G. in the /u01/dba/oracle/product/1012ias/bin directory there is a script called frmcmp.sh which I assume is the correct script to use. It calls the frmcmp executable (it does mean form compile, right?). anway I get the error
FRM-91500: Unable to start/complete the build.
This is on a HPUX machine running HPUX 11.11.
I am having no success trying to search for an answer on the Oracle site and all the documentation I have looked at so far fail to address the issue.
I hate being a newbie!

Sorting by non-base table fields in Oracle Forms

I have a form with a block that associated with a table.
There are several base table fields and several non-base table fields displaying information in this block.
I need to sort the data in this block by non-base table fields.
Is this possible without rewriting the form so that the block is not associated with a base table, and then manually populating the block?

Create a database function on the server,
The function should return the value that you want to order by.
In your form update the ORDER BY clause to use the function
Example:
Assume you have a block base on the employee table,
and you want to order by the department name not the department no (The employee table only contains the department no)
The function will be

I am using ORA_FFI to register the library sucessfully, but getting error "PDE-DFF004 Can't find function clstest.ShowPopup in library C:\temp\testdll.dll", when register the function.
