Need to overwrite ODS

Hi Friends ,
I have created  an ODS,with keys Run ID and Financial Year in addition to some more key fields.
The ODS  stores the results of a Report .
every time the  report is run,new records are created with new RunID .
Acoording to therequirements, I need ovewrite the ODS data each time the report is run for the same financial yaear i.e:
Current ODS data
(150 records):Financial Year 2006 RunID 10000
(100 records):Financial Year 2007 RunID 10001
run the report again for 2007 ,RunID : 10002 (50 records).
Now my ODS should have :
   (150 records):Financial Year 2006 RunID 10000
   (50 records) Financial Year 2007 ,RunID: 10002
Can you please suggest me ,How should I overwrite the old records everytime the Report is Run for the same financial year.
Thanks in advance!!
Best Regards,
Praveen

Praveen,
when you look at the update rules for the ODS - see the key figures and there you will have three options as radio buttons - Overwrite / Addition / No Update...
select Overwrite and the key figure values will be overwritten for the same key field combination.

  • Can a request be deleted from Overwrite ODS?

    Hi,
    Can I delete a request from a Over write ODS? and also let me know when can a request is deleted with out affecting dependent reqeusts in an Overwrite ODS and Additive ODS?
    Cheers,
    Raj

    Hi.
    Do you mean to delete the activated requests ?
    If yes then if you delete the inbetween request then the request that had the higher number will also be deleted.
    If its not activated then you can delete any one you wish.
    If your request is activated in the ODS, You know the range of records you need to delte irrespective of the request you should go for selective deletion.
    If you require to delete the complete request then its obvious to go with the request deletion.
    Assign points if helpful.

  • No primary key in database table.Need help with ODS keys.

    Hi ,
    I am pulling data from a database table where there in no primary key . So when I designed my ODS and loaded the data , the records got overwritten...(If there are 5000 records only 4000 got transfered) . So Now the only option I can think of is putting all the database fields as key fields in my ODS but then I am restricted to only 16 fields for ODS and I have more than 24 fields in my database table.What should I do now.Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks a lot!!!

    Hi,
    are you trying to pull data from structures.....putting all the fields in the key fields is the ODS keys is not a solution.
    what is your reporting requirement....try to maintain the keys for which you want to see the data
    e.g. if in report you want to see the data for sales order then put the keys as sales order for ODS...so that the data is correct at the sales order level.
    ie. the try to maintain the ODS at the level ...which can be used.
    This is the just a guide....you can decide with your requirement.
    Thanks

  • PLEASE HELP!! NEED TO OVERWRITE OLD SITE, PUBLISH ALL DOESN'T WORK

    I posted this like three times by now and got no answer. Would be nice if apple could deal with this problem cause i saw bunch of other people had similar problems. I bought iweb when it came out and i still have not received an answer to this problem.
    When I installed IWeb 08 my original website got wiped out somehow and couldn't figure out how to bring it back. After a couple of crashes and computer restarts i decided to make a new site from scratch. So now the site is ready, but i can't publish it. Every time i publish it and click go visit published site it goes to my old website and i can't seem to overwrite that. Even if i go to my .mac account, it seems like the new pages uploaded successfully but when i try to access them i get the following message:
    "Not found
    The requested URL was not found on this server."
    Any ideas how to fix this problem? Or is there a way to manually erase the website off my mac account??
    Please help its been a month to try to fix this.

    Try entering the URL for your new site into your browser. It should go something like this...
    http://web.mac.com/your.macname/yourwebsitename/pagename.html
    You can also try going to a specific page on your published website, by selecting the page in the sidebar and hold down the Option key while you click Visit (or choose File > Visit Published Site)
    Hopefully you'll get to your site and can then bookmark it!

    how can a ODS be created in a project or requirement?

    Question on Info Cube and DSO

  • Need of ODS in APO-BW

    Hi,
            We have all the information in BW in cubes and we are planning to extract to APO-BW and load to APO. Do I need to use any ODS in my landscape?  I know the functionality of ODS but what purpose could an ODS serve in a general APO-BW landscape?
    Thank you.

    Hi Raj,
    This entirely depends on your needs. An ODS is useful if you need to consolidate data from different sources. It also useful if you need to perform a lookup during the data load (e.g. lookup values that can be found in the ODS while loading to a cube). Depending on your requirements, you might also need to transfer delta values instead of the final values. An ODS can help here as well (although you need to spend extra time to activate the data in ODS). This might be helpful if the ODS feeds it's data to multiple cubes (where always doing a full load to the cubes might not be efficient).
    Hope this helps.

  • Internal error while overwriting a charecteristic value in a class

    Hi,
    I am overwriting a charecteristic value in a class with a change master.
    In CL02 I entered the class and the chnage number and entered in edit mode.
    Then I selected the charecteristic view and selected the specific charectristic which value I need to overwrite and then clicked on "Overwrite Value" button.
    Now the system has found an internal error: the required characteristic data was not found in characteristics maintenance.
    Charecteristic data not found: Internal Error
    Please tell me how can I get out of this error.

    hi,
    Please check whether the overwriting indicator check box in character tab is select or not.
    It should be flagged.

  • How to send data from 4 different data sources to one ODS

    Hello Gurus,
    There is a transaction called KSB1 in R/3.
    It has data related to cost center , cost element, G/L .
    In BI, i need to transfer the data from these Data sources to one ODS.
    Can any body give me some idea.
    Points will be awarded for any kind of response .
    Thanks .
    Anu

    Hi Rupa..
    In your requirement some data sources (Cost centre, Cost element) are master data sources.
    They are available as info Objects in BI (Content).
    So there is no need to create ODS on these.
    But the general scenario for creating ODS from multiple data sources in case of Transaction documents
    Like :
    PO header, PO line items...
    For this the Pre-requisite is to have common fields between these data sources (eg PONo).
    Hope this gives idea for u....
    Cheers...

  • I just bought a new mac and need to clear the memory of my old one but i don't have a startup disk.  how do i do this?

    I just bought a new mac book pro and need to clear my old mac of it's contents to give it away---  I do not have my startup disk anymore.  How can i completely delete my old mac's memory?

    Erasing your drive:
    Dragging the files to the Trash removes the references to them from the Directory. As has always been the tradition, the data blocks that held the actual data are not over-written, they are merely added to the free list for later re-use. Their original contents are still present.
    Disk Utility "Erase" or "Partition" of a drive (which finishes in under a minute) also does not over-write the data blocks, but merely creates a new, empty directory.
    To clear the data that may still be present (admittedly in a disorganized mess of unlinked blocks) you need to overwrite the data. Use the erase tab, then choose "Security Erase" Options, and overwrite once with Zeroes. This process can take several hours as it is -- if you insist on multiple passes, it can take days to complete, with little additional protection. Multiple passes is unnecessary unless your drive held Military Secrets.
    When you have erased, be sure to install some version of Mac OS X -- a Mac with no obvious Operating software may be dead, and  is much more likely to quickly become landfill.

  • Load ODS data to Application server file

    Hi,
        I need to upload ODS data to application server.
        I can not use Open Hub service.  I need to do the upload process in background as there is around 5 million data in ODS. Can anybody please guide
    deep

    Hi,
    You can use Analytic Process Designer for your requirement.
    Use 'RSANWB'.
    It will allow you to select the source as DSO and also you can choose target as some logical path where you can define Application server path as Physical path. Use "FILE'
    Also you can schedule the process in background.

  • Problem overwriting documents in SharePoint Online

    I am using SharePoint Online and trying to overwrite existing documents.
    When I copy the exact filename and save the document to SharePoint Online instead of overwriting the document it is saving another version. I need to overwrite the documents.

    First, Check Out is only required if you have configured the Library settings that way.  Requiring CheckOut is not the default.  Second a file name with an apostrophe is not identical to one without.  SharePoint may be stripping the apostrophe
    since I think that is an illegal character for a filename.  Finally, there is a checkbox when uploading a file that says "Oversrite existing files" (no versioning in library) or "Add as a new version to existing files" (versioning enabled).  Are
    you sure that checkbox isn't being cleared.
    But I suspect the problem revolves around the use of the apostrophe in the file name.

  • Lookup tables (ODS).

    Hi experts
    I know that by using lookup strategy we can refer active table of some other ODS in our ODS (using ABAP code)
    Can you please tell me that if i am using ODS objct A's active tables reference in ODS object B.. then do we need to have data in ODS A??
    Regards
    Swati

    Hi
    I have one ODS object which is using reference of active table of another ODS in start routine..
    DATA: l_pp_o0100 LIKE /bi0/app_o0100,
          l_pp_ds0300 LIKE /bi0/app_ds0300,
    To activate my required ODS i need to activate ODS app_o01 & app_ds03.
    Because as u can see above my required ODS is using reference of active tables of ODS app_o01 & app_ds03.
    I have now activated these 2 ODS objects ODS app_o01 & app_ds03.
    Now to fill my required ODS do I need to have data in other 2 ODS objects??

  • "Smart update" question or how to overwrite the library in current use

    Hello,
    I would like to add a "smartUpdate" feature to an application i.e.
    1. Read an updated library from the web (e.g. as archive- zip)
    2. Extract files from archive and write them to a local drive.
    3. After all the files are written, close the appliaction and restart it.
    #1 is easy enough, there problems is with #2 and #3.
    I will need to overwrite jar file that the running application is using.
    Does anybody has experience with this. Any ideas how to do this.
    Thank you.
    Leo

    Appreciate any other ideas...If you have to exchange classes in an application while it is still running, this will always be a bit tricky (if not
    impossible). It is much easiser to close and restart the application (= make the OS call the Java-interpreter again). But if you decide, that restarting from the OS is not possible, there is some work to do :-)
    There are three main problems:
    1. If your classes are loaded from Jar-files, the Jar-files will be locked by the java-process. Once a class has been loaded from a Jar-file, that file is write-protected
    2. Java will not reload a class that it has already loaded, even if the Class- or Jar-File has changed
    3. Even if the class would be reloaded, this could not affect any instances of these classes.
    Problems 1 and 2 can be solved by using a custom ClassLoader (this is still 100% pure Java, no hack or
    something).
    This custom ClassLoader could be written in a way that it could close the Jar-Files on demand (closing the Jar-File every time a class has been loaded would slow down class loading significantly).
    To force reloading (=using the new jar-file) you would have to instantiate a new ClassLoader (= another instance of your own custom ClassLoader). This new ClassLoader will use the new versions.
    The third problem is just a matter of your application; you must ensure that it re-instantiates everything with the new ClassLoader.
    So, it would be something like:
    //Create custom CLassLoader
    MyClassLoader cl = new MyClassLoader();
    //--- start update code (assuming my.package.MyClass1.main will receive the new jar-file)
    Class mc = cl.loadClass( "my.package.MyClass1");
    Method main = mc.getMethod( "main", new Class[]{ String[].class } );
    main.invoke( null, new Object[]{ new String[0] } );
    //--- overcome write-protection
    cl.closeFiles();
    //--- now copy the new Jar-File into the appropriate directory
    //--- dispose first ClassLoader and create a new one
    cl = new MyClassLoader();
    //--- start app (assuming my.package.MyClass2.main is the "real" application)
    Class mc = cl.loadClass( "my.package.MyClass1");
    Method main = mc.getMethod( "main", new Class[]{ String[].class } );
    main.invoke( null, new Object[]{ new String[0] } );All this ClassLoader stuff is a bit tricky, but this kind of "smart update", where you exchange classes while the VM is still running, is not a trivial problem (though
    it's quite common if you're write application servers).

  • [SOLVED] Overwrite files with pacman.

    Hello all
    I know that pacman, as a design feature, does not overwrite files by default. I've read the post and the wiki about it.
    But I've a situation where I would need to overwrite dozens of files, in different directories, and it would be very nice, If possible, to make an exception to this rule.
    I dont know how, but I've messed up an Kdemod upgrade. It stopped working and I cant uninstall it, because pacman doesnt find the appropriate groups (Kdemod-complete and Kdemod-uninstall).
    On the other hand, I cant simply reinstall it, or kde[extra], because pacman gives dozens "leftover file" messages in different directories, and refuses to overwrite them.
    I just want a way to reinstall KDEmod, at least to try to remove everything with "pacman -Rd kdemod-uninstall" and start from scratch, if it doesnt work. And, I would like to escape manually removing all the files in different directories or a full system reinstall.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    In fact, the -f flag was deliberately deprecated in favor of --force specifically to make it less likely that someone will try using it.

  • Can we call super class method from Overwrite method using SUPER keyword

    Hi All,
    For one of our requirement , I need to overwrite "Process Event" method of a feeder class  ,where process event is present is protected method. so when we are making a call , then its saying
    "Method  "process event"  is unknown or Protected  or PRIVATE ".
        But we are just copied the source code in the "Process Event" method to the Overwrite method.
    Can anyone provide me the clarification , why system behaving like this.

    Hi,
    I think you can not.
    Because, only public attributes can be inherited and they will remain public in the subclass.
