Need to skip one process in process chains

Hi Experts,
I have made some changes in the Endroutines at the third level target and moved the changes to BWP. Now, I need not extract the data from ECC. So I need to skip those process in the process chains for this.
How to achieve this?

Hi,
Right click on that process and display messages -> backg tab -> batch monitor > Stop the job.
it will be failed now with red status.
Now in the display messages , from the Chain tab
Take the Variant and Instance Name
Then goto SE11 - > RSPCPROCESSLOG
Give the Variant and Instance Name here and get other details like LOGID , TYPE..
Now goto SE38 -> RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH
Give all the details collected from above steps and fill the STATE value as 'G'
Execute.. This will Skip that process and start the next process in the process chain
If it is temporary then you can just copy that chain and remove that process step and run the chain.

maintain variant>change selections>after at operation mode if you further check the double arrow button it will leads you to workday/time screen
check if it works for you coz' it has following option"Do not execute before"

Stopping one process chain when another is running

Hi All,
We have two process chains which are inter dependent.
One process chain has to be scheduled hourly & another daily.
I would like to know the way to stop the hourly running process chain when the daily process chain is running.
& the daily process chain run time will be varying like 1-2 hours.
Please help me to solve this problem

Hi,
You can do it.
1.Create one Table with Flag (Values 0 or 1), and give Table maintaince also in SM30.
2.Craeate one program to check the Table Flag = 0 or 1. If it is 0 then trigger Event then that event will trigger Hourly Process Chain. You need to schedule this Program Hourly. (Your Hourly PC wil work based on Events)
3. Craete Daily Process Chain, once it will start it will update teh Flag =1 then once it will reach the last node it will turn the flag = 0.
Start

Update Flag = 1 in table (Program)
 |
Load data
 |
Update Flag = 0 in table (Program)
4. So every hour your program will run (in Step 2), it will check table Entry and trigger Event.

On what Basis V need to Design the Process Chain in BI7

Hope every one having a great time. I am designing the Process Chain for the DTP's in BI7 its for the Attributes load, what things i need to consider while designing dis chain mean is der any dependency i need to follow suppose der is "material" is an info provider and it consist of "material type" as attribute, where dis "material type' is also a infoprovider which one should i load first. and how many processes can i assign to start variant n what is the effective way to decide dis. shall i need to consider the Datasource also suppose if the 2 or 3 process r feeding the data from the same Datasource den what i hav to do in BI7.

Hi ,
There are several schools of thought on how to design your process chain for master data. For us, we load the attributes first, then hierarchies, then run ACR, and then load the texts.
We have a meta chain (same as a process chain) that executes 2 process chains. The first loads our attibutes, hierarchies and runs the ACR. The second loads the texts. So, theoretically, we have one process chain that loads all our master data.
Things to consider:
1. Determine how many batch processes you can execute at one time on the system. This will determine how many infopackages you can have running at the same time (big influence on the design of your process chain).
2. Determine the order in which you want to update your master data. Some say to update the infoobjects that are attributes of other master data first. Also, some extracts may take longer to execute than others. This may also influence your design.
3. When connecting the infopackages in the process chain, you will be prompted as to how the connection should proceed (successful, error, or always). In your case, the decision should be always.

Setting of one process chain triggering by other?

Hi Friends,
we are having two process chains, PC1 and PC2.
Daily PC1 triggers PC2.
But i want to know where this setting is done in the system (PC1 triggers PC2)

There are several ways to trigger the process chain from the another process chain.
Start variant,
Maintain the same start variant for all the process chain which u want to be trigerred by dependence, ie on executing the one prcess chain from group, all will be triggered.
Local process chain:
Insert the (secound) child process chain in a (first )parent chain. by this when u execute the parent process chain the child will be triggered.
Event:
For all process chain there will be event name. U can write code with this event as a reference so that completion of one process chain will triger the secound.

How to check the status of other process chain from one process chain

Hi All
I have a requirement where I need to send an Email after successful completion of 3 process chains.
all these 3 chains starts at same time.Out of these 3, one chain daily takes more time to complete.
Is there any way so that in 3rd chain( the one that takes more time to complete) i can check whether the other two chains have completed successfully or not.So that when this chain gets complete I can send the success notification for all the three chains.
If possible please tell me the step by step procedure for doing this.
I have no question on sending Email through process chain.

The OS Command is used for the following:
You use this process type to stop a system command in the operating system of an application server.
In the process maintenance for the operating system command, define:
The logical name of the operating system command you want to stop.
A command defined in transaction SM49 is used here. You can also change the command using the Change pushbutton.
The operating system of the application server on which you want to execute the command.
Additional parameters, as long as the defined command permits them.
The application server on which the command is to be executed. If you always want to use the current host, set the corresponding indicator. If you want to use a host other than the current one, enter this in the Target Host field; the system automatically deselects the Current Host.
After the run, you can find the standard text output by the command on the Process tab page of the log for this process.
For processes you may have implemented yourself, you can access this log using the CL_RSPC_SYSTEMCOMMAND=>IF_RSPC_GET_LOG~GET_LOG method.
I have never used the OS command myself, so I am not sure, whether it can be used in your case.

Need help with BW Process chain issue

Hi Gurus,
I had made a copy of the existing process chain so that I can work on the changes. Its a metachain and I tried to copy a sub chain.
But at a later point of time, I have realized that the process chain had got into a nested loop in the meta chain, for the sub chain, I had copied. How do I rectify it?

use the bottom up approach.
Looking at the attached file it has many PCs.
Just note down all list of all PC and then do the copy of individual PCs, later you can copy the complete meta chain.
If you want give one more chance and try to copy meta chain again.

How to run multiple packages in one process chain

we want to run a script logic with badi, followed by a standard move function. The BADI will perform a check and generate an error. If no error occurs, the move can continue ...
We created our own process chain, which is in fact the combination of a script logic and a move. The data package has underlaying syntax.
Problem is that the data package does not trigger the process chain ... Nothing happens when running it. When checking the status, nothing gets in here ... We assigned the correct process chain and get message a postivie message when running the package... Is this not possible?

Hi Sheldon,
we never have issues when we combine standard objects, like a cliear with a load inforprovider, or the master data integration you mentioned in your document. However, from the moment we combine a script logic with a standard package (like a move) it does not work .The data package contains the task needed for the script and for the move. the process chain is called up but always comes in error in the first step (BPC modify dynamically ) ... there is also no log when checking the view status ...

Skip steps in process chain if 0 records received from InfoPackage

In one business scenario, we need to change existing process chain such that if InfoPackage/DTP has brought 0 records process chain should skip rest steps or it should get failed.
Do you have any ideas about this.

Dear Ganesh,
you can change the traffic light color for empty request in the infoPackage maintenance window. Top menu --> Scheduler --> Traffic light color for empty request.
Using this option and connecting process chain nodes correctly, process chain execution will stop whenever the infoPackage gets 0 records.
For a DTP, you can use ABAP code in the start routine of the corresponding transformation. You should check the contents of SOURCE_PACKAGE internal table and raise exception accordingly.

Create a z-control table which maintains ranges 250K records. In future use can even change the range if you want .

Need help in process chain *need help immdtly*

I need help in creating one process chain.
1. i have to load one infopackage to a PSA.
2. then have to do load for one infocube from two different infocubes one after the other.
for all these loads one restriction of fiscal year period to be common value.
this value may either be allowed to user to select or loaded automatically taking the previous fiscal year value .. any of these two options are fine.
it would be helpful if anyone can help me out.

I need to create a process chain for the following:
1.Load to PSA through infopackage.
2.Load to ODS through DTP.
3.Activate ODS.
4.Load cube from ODS through DTP.
I am not much familiar with process chains. If you can let me know the steps it should be great. As always thanks for the help.

5.Further Processing
6.Delete Indexes for Cube
7.Execute DTP ( to load Cube frm DSO )

Infopackages n DTPs shud all be delta in update type.

How repeat a process step in a process chain automatically after error?

Hello guys.
Have some method to repeat automatically a process in a process chain after a error occur ?
Now, we need to make a manual procedure for repeat the process... We need make it more "fast", one "auto repeat" when failing.

Auto repeat of a process chain is always not ad visible as in most of the cases we can see the job got finished in SM37 and even spool got generated but unfortunately it will fail if any of the data package is wrong.In these cases we can skip the process chain and make it continue.
I have written a blog on the same.please go through it.i feel for those scenarios it is good.
How to override a process block in the process chain and make it force complete ?
My personal advice is to go and check the job log before repeating any process as the job may fail for n no of cases.it is a complex challenge of adding all those errors tracked.
