Need to stop processing at portal

is it possible through workflow to stop processing further from portal and through message at portal itself.
examepl, wen emp applying leave, wen he doesnt has sufficient balance to apply leave, is it possible to throw error message at portal and block to move furthe through workflow.

           If team calendar is configured in ECC , the manager can see how many leave the employee can avail and accordingly he/she can decide about approvals.If team calender is not configured, ask your EP consultant to do so.
            Lest, create a background task to compute whether the employee have sufficient balance leave days.If no, you can terminate the workflow thus preventing the leave request to be sent to the manager.
          This background task should be the very first step in the workflow.

I have a requirement to check the combination of the GLaccount and project and if the combination is not allowed i need to show an error message and to stop the user from saving the Purchase Requisition.
For this i have coded in BADI ME_PROCESS_REQ_CUST in PROCESS_ACCOUNT method.
the badi is triggered and the error message is also shown but it is not stopping the user from saving the Purchase Requisition.
i want to know how to invalidate a line item as we do in PO by calling item->invalidate( ) method.
i couldnt find any method like that in the ME_PROCESS_REQ_CUST BADI.
Please anyone of us let me know how to invalidate a line item of a purchase requesition.

Looking at the signature of interface method PROCESS_ACCOUNT it becomes obvious that you cannot stop processing of the PO requisition here.
You need to implement your validations in method CHECK because here you have a CHANGING parameter CH_FAILED (Nomen est Omen!!!).

Temporarily stop processing in a jsp

Hi,
I have the following question, and hope you can help.
I have a jsp, say a.jsp. During the processing the jsp may need additional information from the user. In that case it generates a pop-up window (using javascript) with a form that the user can fill in, and submit.
My questions:
1. Is it possible that a.jsp stops processing after generating the pop-up window? If so, how?
2. Is it possible that after the user submits the additional information a.jsp continues processing at the point after the generation of the pop-up window? If so, how?

It's possible although not exactly as you asked. Rather than stopping and starting the processing you would include or exclude content based on the state of your request. i.e. Let's assume that the first time a user enters your site you popup a form requesting they log in. If they've logged in you allow them to see the content of the page:

Stopping Process Chain schedule for just one day...

Hi,
Our source systems and BI are getting a patch upgrade during this weekend and I need to stop all the Process Chains schedule for Friday night/ Saturday morning. Is there a simple way I can stop all the Process Chains from executing just for tomorrow instead of manually removing each PC from schedule and again putting them back on schedule on Saturday?

You can reschedule them instead of de-schedule and schedule back.
1)open your process chain in rspc1
2) goto planning mode
3) right click on start --> display schedule job
4) select the job --> in menu bar --> click on first one from left --> change
here change the dates as per your requirement and save the job.
If you have any event based chains which are going to start after time based chains gets complete, no need to de-schedule as we are not going get trigger from time based chains.
I don't think so we have any program to de-schedule all the chains at a time.

Start process from Portal

Hi everyone!
I need to implement process start as a link in portal. I've created and tested WSDL in NWDS. I also assigned start event for the process. So it works and starts fine from the WS navigator. Now I need to make it available in portal. I have no experience in Portal. So i found some guidelines regarding VC and WebDynpro. But I need an advise about that. I wanna know what is the best practice to implement that. I mean how is it usually done? Because the task seems pretty typical. NWDS and CE are 7.2 SP06 both.

Well, it depends on the requirement.
If you just want to start a process and no shiny (tree control, file upload etc...) UI manipulation, you can use VC. Its very easy to develop. Also VC covers vast number of UI element, though not all provided by WD. But, if there is any complex business logic invovled , with heavy data manipulation, WD stands good.
However, for most of the cases, UI provided by VC suffice all requirements. If the purpose is just to provide basic, simple UI for submitting info and starting BPM, VC fits best.

i think you are using module screen then you will have to use stop after the error message and clear the sy-ucomm or ok_code before stop statement.
MESSAGE e208(ZPM).

but if it were a report then also it depends on ur code.
in report if your code contains an end-of-selection and u are throwing an error message in start-of-selection , then below error message statement if you write stop then end-of-selection still will get executed ..
but if you write an EXIt then end-of-selection wont get executed. it will show directly output screen if there is an write statement to display on screen in start-of-selction.
and if you are throwing an error message at selection screen then no need to use any of the above.
but if you are using an information message then u need to use stop after the i message..

What should be the normal behavior when calling a retired/stopped process?

Dear all,
I thought that when one of my asynchronous BPEL process would call another asynchronous BPEL process that is retired or stopped(with no other version number active), I would receive any kind of error. So I tried it, and instead of receiving an error, the first BPEL process sent his message and received the ack without any errors (that is in both cases, retired or stopped). So I checked if the message was put in the thread queue or any other kind of queue and no it wasn't. I tried to reactivate the second process, and nothing happened. So I guess the message had been lost. Is this the normal behavior??
Since we are implementing asynchronous processes to do a "fire and forget" type of system, we would have liked to receive some kind of error so we know that no instance had been instanciated and that the message had not really been delivered?
Can anyone tell me where I'm wrong. Is there a chapter talking about that in any document. If anyone has read about that I'd like to know where so I can understand the way it works!

I'm sorry but I'm not sure I understand the onError callback thing,
If we consider my called asynchronous process was a one-way process (no callbacks),
Correct me if I'm wrong but:
-This means I would have to define a callback in the called process (that onError callback).
-Then, I gotta put a receive or a pick activity, which means I need to wait for an error answer, which is not wanted.
-And, would a retired or stopped process really answer me and throw me an error?!?! I'm not sure since its stopped... So i would probably wait forever I guess.
I'm just trying to find a way to make sure the message has been taken in charge by the next process and if not, to be alerted!

   I have a requirement that i need do not process the duplicate values from the file place in FTP.
Scenerio is File->PI->RFC.

How to stop processing the duplicate record.Kindly share some ideas to achieve this requirement by using PI 7.1.

Need to draw process diagrams in JSP's

Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to show process diagrams, DFD's to users in JSP pages.
Another thing is I want to allow user to update the diagram if he feels that the diagram is not proper.
Is there any tool or API using which this can be accomplished...

Can we use Microsoft Visio for dynamically generating diagrams. I think it is only for generating static diagrams.
We want users of the portal to update the diagram if they feel something is missing or is wrong (consider it like a mini paint program) but on JSP.. (Not sure whether it is advisable or there is any simple way out there to solve this requiremnt)
For representing nodes and links... may be we can use XML at backend....
But not sure how to approach this problem.....
Any input will be greatly appreciated....

Stop process gracefully

Dear experts,
please tell me how can I stop any process gracefully. I am executing a java application from another java application. Something like
Process proc = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("java .....");Now I need to stop the inner process. How can I do this? If I use Process.destroy() then the shutdown hook thread of the inner process is not executed. But that is important for the inner process. So not possible to use destroy() method. Please tell me how can I stop the inner process gracefully.

What makes you think so? If you've got some information that says you can do so, please share it with us. What do you think that you can achieve by just saying "but tell me!"? You didn't get a solution (probably because there is no solution) and didn't provide any more information, so the answer doesn't change.
You might want to look up how to ask questions the smart way.

Output Server stops processing files (seemingly) at random

We use Adobe Central Output Server 5.5.0.308 to process Invoices/POs and the like from CommerceCenter (An Epicor/Prophit 21 product). We have three isntances of it running on three seperate terminal servers.
It has been working pretty well for years. Sometimes it would fail to process a certain file or it would stop responding and need to be restarted, but nothing serious and never very often.
Suddenly in the last couple of months it has stopped processing files at random during the day. To get it to start again we have to open the Control Center and go to Control -> Start Server. Then it will process everything in the queue just fine. It has been happening on both of our older 2003 terminal servers fairly often (at least 4 times a week) and just happened for the first time on our new 2008 R2 terminal server.
None of us here know much about Output Server and there is nothing in the Server log or the Event Viewer that indicates any sort of issue, so we are at a loss.
I don't really even know where to begin as the documentation of the relationship between CommerceCenter and Output Server is non-existent.
I'm really looking for any ideas... Maybe somebody has run into this issue before?

I am able to get color images in the continues shot but when i try to snap a color image which i need for my processing i get only a monocrome image

I am unfamiliar with the lv_vfw.llb, and have not used it before. However, I noticed that you stated that you are able to grab in color, just not snap in color. If this is the case, why not just perform a grab and then extract a single buffer from this grabbed data, which would likely be in color? This seems like a possible solution to the issue that you are seeing.
Other than that, I really don't know enough about the lv_vfw.llb to be of much help on this issue. Hopefully another member of this forum will be able to assist you with this software.

It started turning on with the apple symbol and then the screen went white. I kept trying to do the same thing but it wouldnt work. Eace time i did that the screen was a different color. I was yellow/white at one point, blue at another time and sometimes the color behind the apple symbol. It got really HOT and i just let it die. When it was dead i put it on a charger. once it got charged up it started turning on with the apple symbol. then it turned white again and then restarted without me touching anything. When it restarted it turned the blue again. i took it off the charger immediantly because i didnt want it getting as hot as it was before. ive tried every way i know how to fix it but not putting it in the computer because i dont want it to ruin the computer. Please help because i really dont want to get a new ipod. Ive read a lot about how to fix it here on apple but there all the same answer and it still doesnt work. Please respond ASAP! thank you! i could really use your help right now!

First see if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow a restore.
Next try DFU mode and restore.
