Need to uninstall but... Windows won't boot.....

I have Acrobat Pro 8.0 and Windows Vista will not boot so it looks like a reformat is inevitable.
What procedure do I use to uninstall so I can reinstall after Vista is reloaded? I'm pretty sure that I'll be able to take out the existing drive and copy some files off of it if needed.
Thanks!

I wasn't sure if there was a key file or something that I could copy off of the existing drive to the new drive and reinstall Acrobat Pro 8.0 from the disk and have the program stay unlocked. OR I was wondering if there was a separate app that I could run on the folder after copying it to a good drive, that would uninstall the key.
If all I have to do is call Customer Service then that's fine but before I completely destroy the existing drive I don't want to be out of the exorbent amount of money that this program costs.

  • Upgrading to SSD! But windows won't boot after copying drive.

I recently bought the great HP TM2t 2100 with all the bells and whistles along with an Intel x25m 120gb SSD (and Apricorn housing to use the old HDD as a backup drive.)
I followed all of the steps on the ez gig III software and copied the hard drive to the ssd without any errors. When I physically install the ssd (very easy!) and turn on the computer it says that Windows cannot be recovered. And will not  boot windows. I did make Device Recovery discs but those are not able to be read either. Any suggestions on this? I have been trying to find an answer to no avail.
In the mean time I reinstalled the HDD and will try again after updrating all the drivers.

Well, I couldn't get the copied SSD to work, but as of right now I'm using the repair disks to restore windows to factory settings, the comp is only a weekend old and has no files of importance on it so I think this will be the best way. I will report my findings.

I just bought two sticks of corsair 500mhz pc4000 ram (256mb each) for my pc. I managed to get the ram to boot at 400 mhz but windows will not boot unless I set the system bus speed to 166. At 200 the bios will boot and it does detect the processor as a 3200+ with ram running at 400 mhz but right before the windows boot screen (the black one with the low res windows logo) I get a beep and the system restarts. So, the only product that's actually new is the nForce2 400 which looks like a low-cost version of the Ultra 400 chipset. Unlike its feature-rich brother, the nForce2 400 offers only a single DDR controller and will not be able to support the MCP-T south bridge. However, it will still offer full support for the new 400MHz FSB, DDR400, up to 3GB of memory and AGP8X support. Not bad at all, especially IF NVIDIA sells it significantly cheaper than the Ultra 400 chipset.

  • Windows Won't Boot With USB Drives Attached

I just installed Windows 7 on my Mac mini but it won't boot into Windows automatically if there are USB drives attached.  I have to hold down the option key at boot time and select the Windows partition manually for it to boot, unless I remove the USB drives first, then it will boot into Windows on its own.  Does anyone know how to fix this annoying problem?

Sounds like your mini is set to boot order: boot from USB first.
On a PC you could go into BIOS and change boot order and enable/disable USB booting.
Not sure why or what is on the USB bus, type of drive and device that could also make a difference (and not be universal to the Mini)

Have you tried restarting the iPad or resetting it and then try to update?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This should not matter - but at this point you might as well try this as well. Close all apps, restart the iPad and then try to update again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button. Restart the iPad.

I have Firefox 28.0 and need Checkbox mate, but it won't sync, can this be done?

Sorry, I am not familiar with how that extension stores its settings or data, but most extensions needed to be edited or code added to make use of Firefox' ability to Sync extensions and their preferences and data.
You need to contact the developer of that extension and suggest that feature be added. Mozilla builds the API and framework for syncing of extensions, it is up to each extension developer to make use of what Mozilla provided.

  • Help request - T500 started with no BIOs battery or HDD. Now installed, but laptop won't boot fully.

The laptop now won't boot to windows...
Sequence of events - investigating issue inside laptop, (CMOS battery creating strong bad smell).  The CMOS battery, HDD, and palm rest were all not installed.
The laptop was turned on in this state.
Some error or message screens came up.
As I tried to fix, I first realized and replaced the CMOS battery, then later the HDD, and later the palm rest.
At some point, with the CMOS battery in or out, and HDD either in or out, the laptop said it needed a correct system date.  I went into BIOS and just selected 3/27/2015, and left the time with whatever it was showing.
This resulted in allowing the boot to progress to the screen stating that it could not start up, and asking to run in safe mode, safe mode with networking, last good configuration, or normally.
I tried safe mode, last known good, and normally.  All of them resulted in the windows logo and loading bar (XP), and then it showed an error screen for a fraction of a second... and looped back to the boot sequence leading back to asking whether to try safe mode, safe with network, last known good, normal.
Then, later I installed the palmrest, in case that was related.
Still, the boot efforts all resulted in the same thing... an extremely briefly-displayed error page (too brief to read anything), and then instantly booting back to the safemode/last known, normal, etc option screen.
I canged the graphics to the integrated graphics, just to try... no change in result.
What is needed to allowing it to boot fully and normally?
Thank you very much for any help

...means that Windows can't grok the boot device.  Things to try:
    1.  When the PC is booting, press F8 to get a boot menu for Windows.  Do you have a "last known good config" option?  Try it.
    2.  Do you have a Windows retail disk, or a friend who has one?  Boot on it and do a repair.
    3.  Open the BIOS.  Can you find a setting for hard drive controller mode, IDE or AHCI?  What does it say?  Try switching to the other mode.
<<Any benefit of trying to reformat the HDD and reinstal an OS from scratch?>>
Yes, of course.  It will fix the problem, as long as you're sure that the hardware is sound.  But that's not guaranteed.  Hot plugging a drive to a booting computer is not good practice--you have the potential for ground faults, corruption of the MBR, or whatever.

  • Post-Lion Macbook Pro with newly installed Hard Drive, but it won't boot up

I just bought a Macbook pro with all the stock specifications and it boots up fine and everything is great.  However, when I tried to put in a new hard drive, the computer doesn't recognize it and it won't boot up (i.e. the flashing folder sign with the question mark after a long gray screen).  Since the new lion installs seem to be already pre-loaded onto the hard drive it doesn't automatically connect to the internet and download Lion from the server.  I was told holding down Command + R would work (as well as C, and a few others), but it still doesn't read anything!  It doesn't make any sense because in the pamphlet that came with the pro said that holding down Command + R would allow you to go to Disk Utility and partition the drive or whatever, but it doesn't seem to be happening.
My harddrive is a momentus XT seagate and I heard that those are compatible with Macs.  One solution I heard is that I need to get a disk of OSX Lion (by downloading it onto someone else's computer and then removing the installer file), but that seems kinda tricky considering I don't know anyone's macbook that I can do that with.  Are there any other options?  Am I missing something?  Please help!
    -Josh

Can`t you put the other drive in and then burn a Lion Installation disk?

  • Windows won't boot! Windows protection error.

I just upgraded my mother board to a MSI and now I can't boot to Windows at all! I'm using two different versions of windows on seperate hard-disks (never at the same time) and both won't boot. I can get to Safe-mode in Win98.  My system was fine before I upgraded.
    System:
Motherboard - MSI, K7N2 Delta, Nvidia nForce 2 based.
    CPU - AMD XP 2400+ T-bred.
CPU Cooler - 2 x 8000-rpm fans on Kanie Hedgehog (big heatsink).
Memory - Kingston 256Megs, two sticks for 512megs. (Says:  Kingstort /VR, KVR266X64C25/256. I don't know much about memory.) It fits the DDR1 slot.
    Graphics - Nvidia 5600.
Power supply - New, Allied brand, ATX-style, 450Watt.
    OS - Windows 98, Windows XP (SP1)
(Win98 and WinXP are on seperate hard disks. Never used at the same time).
    Problem:
    1. When I boot to Win98 it just says "Protection Error, you will need to restart your system".
    2. When I boot to WinXP it says "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer."
    Fixes and diagnostic:
    1. Diagnostic lights on mother board cycle and and say OK.
    2. I can get to Win98 Safe-Mode or Command prompt.
    2. I don't have any other PCI cards installed except video.
    3. I'm using only one of the memory sticks just to rule out the other (tried both).
    4.  I have most of the on-board peripherals disabled (sound, ethernet, serial. parallel, etc...).
    5. Tried upping the voltage on memory. Same problem.
    6. Tried setting memory for 100mhz. Same problem.
    7. Tried reseating the memory. Same problem.
    8. CPU temp is well within range at around 109F.
    Questions:
What could the problem possibly be? I will try anything!
    1. Is there some kind of safe mode for the hard drive settings?
    2. Is there some kind of safe mode for memory speed?
    3. Give me some hints! Upgrading the MB shouldn't be this hard! What am I overlooking? Thanks for any replies!

I am not following your line of thinking here. Win98 needs to on the primary drive, primary channel in most cases, yet XP can boot from any location, and any drive letter. So why would there be a need to constantly swap jumpers? Only thing needed is the Boot.ini file on the main drive, and it will boot from any OS listed there.

  • I removed my battery in an attempt to insert a SIM card, obviously without knowing how to insert the SIM card. I put the battery back into place and it was already charged 100%, but it's stuck in recovery mode. I've already restored it, but it won't boot.

I was trying to insert a SIM card into my iPhone 4 without actually knowing how to do so. I assumed that I was to remove the back of the phone and find a slot for it near the battery. I removed the battery in an attempt to find a SIM slot, and was obviously unsuccessful. I put the battery back into place and screwed the phone back plate back on. Note: the battery was fully charged and the iPhone was working perfectly fine before. After screwing the iPhone back into place properly, I thought, I attempted to cut the phone on and it would not do so. I put it back on the charger, and the screen came up that says "Connect to iTunes". I obviously couldn't do so if its plugged into the wall. I plugged into the computer, connected it to iTunes, went through the Recovery mode process, and it still won't turn on. The computer says that the iPhone is in Recovery mode, but iTunes can't do anything because it has already been restored. When I disconnect it from the computer, I hold all buttons in all possible combinations, but it won't turn on at all. When I plug it into the wall, it again says to connect to iTunes. I don't know if I damaged the battery or any part within the iPhone, but I was sensitive in my approach to removing the battery and putting it back in, and there is no visible damage whatsoever. I am extremely frustrated and in desperate need of Apple-Pro help.

do you have a cdma iphone 4? becauase cdma iphones dont have a sim card slot... the providers that use cdma technology here in the us would be verizion, sprint, criket, ect... if you want to use your iphone 4 on att or tmobile (gsm carriers). then you would need a gsm iphone 4 (has sim card slot). a gsm iphone 4 is different than a cdma iphone 4 (they have different radio chips). maby you missed the sim card slot? sim card slot would be on the side of the phone.. never inside (unless it has a removable back cover like the galaxy s3 or s4), if you dont see a sim card slot on the side of the phone than you have a cmda iphone 4. can you tell me what carrier you are trying to use?

  • Need Help with iMac 350 - Won't boot - keyboard or mouse not working!

    Hello,
I've scoured the web looking for answers, and can't find any, so maybe someone here would be kind enough to help. I'm working on an imac 350 blueberry for my sister and I'm having all sorts of trouble.
She bought it last week, it started up (8.6 os) no problem. Powered up and down a few times, then all of a sudden, it won't boot. I'm currently getting blinking folder/happymac/question mark when trying to start up.
Here's the big problem - the keyboard and mouse do not work now. I've tried three different mice and three keyboards and no dice with any of them. I have the 8.6 CD from her previous imac (bondi), and I can hear it spinning, but there is no way to start up from cd.
I've also tried 2 other hard drives with the same results.
Tried resetting CUDA on logic board, taking out battery, no change. Bought new battery- no change.
I would love to at least get the keyboard working to see if I can even startup from cd, anyone have any clues on how to get it working? The strange thing is that the keyboard has a power on button, and it works to start the thing up, but dies when it tries to boot. Sometimes I just get a grey screen with the pointer icon, and I can move the pointer with the mouse for a second or two, then no response.
I appreciate any help or suggestions on locating the issues!
    Thank you!

When I said "but dies when it tries to boot" and "..then no response." I meant that the keyboard works to power up the computer, but won't work for anything else. So, I am figuring that the usb ports are supplying power to the keyboard and mouse, but the usb ports aren't relaying information from the keyboard or mouse.
How do you know the mouse isn't working? Won't you have to wait until later in the boot to tell?
The poweron key is a special case. I think that it works by lowering/changing the voltage on one of the usb cables. I read about this somewhere. Anyway, this function was eliminated from later usb keyboards and macs. Maybe a working power button doesn't mean what you think.
I would love to boot into open firmware
Could you try powering up from the machine? Is there a power button on the lower right of the machine?
Have you tried this key combo?
    commandoption+of
The letters are in lower case. Hold all down then poweron the machine. I'd poweron from the machine as apposed to the keyboard.
You could try another usb keyboard.
We actually did boot up the computer several times with it upside down. Not for any reason, except it's become a real PIA to flip it over every two minutes to start it, then take it apart and boot again. When booting either upside down or right side up it shows the same thing - blinking folder w/finder icon and question mark.
Yes, I agree. You could try removing the clear plastic around the bottom of the machine. At least you will not have to slide in the carriage. Note. The tv portion will still be surrounded by plastic! Don't remove the plastic around the tv!
Hope I am not interfering with Richard and his comments.
Richard: Is this the orginal keyboard? When did Apple get rid of the poweron key from the keyboard? My iMac 600 didn't have the key and my iMac 233 does.

There is a bug in fsck_hfs that is affecting a bunch of people.  Basically as your comptuer starts in safe mode, it runs a file system check (fsck) against your hard drive, it gets to a certain point and... just sits there.  No one knows why outside of apple.
Lots of info here, including a way to get around it by tricking the system to think fsck had been run, though the fsck will not be complete so it is not a good solution.

  • G4 boot from external OS9, but now won't boot back to 10.4?

Sorry if this may be a little confusing..
Basically I have an old sawtooth/AGP single processor unit from a friend who moved to New Zealand to work on a movie/graphics project.
He upgraded it to a newtech 1.6 processor.
The problem is I booted into 9.2 via external firewire as I still have some specialty cards/apps that are not supported in 10. The mouse will not "click" for selection purposes, it only moves the cursor which does not allow me to go into the control panels and select the "startup disk" utility and go back to 10.4 or anything else for that matter.
I unplugged the external firewire while shut down and restarted assuming it would pick one of the two internal drives with OSX.
It did not! It gets to the grey OSX "apple logo" screen and then powers off.
When I plug the external back in, it will start all the way to desktop9, but the same problem persists in that neither the new wireless mouse nor the old G3 puck will click.
I do not have an apple keyboard that works, so the "new" wireless one will not work for keyboard startup commands, so I cannot just press "x" or "c" and boot to another source that way. I do have a G3 usb mouse I dug out of the closet (I just recently recycled my old Apple II+ from said same closet) but as I said it does not "click".
I tried the programmer's button while in OS9 to try to command boot to the OSx drives. The dialog box showed up, but it won't take the commands; ie: nothing happened.
Next I tried plugging the firewire (while shut down) into an external with OSX. Nothing!
I plugged it back into the 9 drive and get to the desktop with the same useless mouse problem.
I am considering pulling the internal battery in hopes it will kill the boot memory and perhaps default back to the OSX disks again.
Any thoughts and ideas are much appreciated!
    Many Thanks!
    El Jefe de Biosmell!

    Hi, biosmell -
I am considering pulling the internal battery in hopes it will kill the boot memory and perhaps default back to the OSX disks again.
That should work to reset PRAM, which contains the boot volume selection. Be sure to also pull the power cord, and to wait long enough; about a half hour should be fine.
After replacing the battery and reconnecting the power cord, wait another couple of minutes and then boot it - by default it should boot to the first OS it finds on a local (i.e., internal) hard drive.
