Need to wrap text in af:column

Hi,
i have a af:column with output text. Need to wrap the text in output text. Tried setting the NoWrap to false, but did not work. Below is the code. I really appreciate if someone could help me in fixing this issue.
<af:table value="#{bindings.POC.collectionModel}"
var="row"
rows="#{bindings.POC.rangeSize}"
emptyText="#{bindings.POC.viewable ? 'No data to display.' : 'Access Denied.'}"
fetchSize="#{bindings.POC.rangeSize}"
rowBandingInterval="0"
selectedRowKeys="#{bindings.POC.collectionModel.selectedRow}"
selectionListener="#{bindings.POC.collectionModel.makeCurrent}"
rowSelection="single" id="t9"
inlineStyle="width:100.0%; height:100%;text-align:left; vertical-align:top;">
<af:column sortProperty="Comments" sortable="false"
headerText="Description" id="c65"
width="847"
inlineStyle="text-align:left; vertical-align:top;"
noWrap="false">
<af:outputText value="#{row.bindings.Comments.inputValue}"
shortDesc="#{bindings.POC.hints.Comments.tooltip}"
id="it2" noWrap="false"/>
</af:column>
</af:table>
Thanks

Hi Frank,
Following is the jsp code that i am using but not able to wrap the text in column:
<af:table id="logTable"
value="#{abc.listWorkBenchLog}"
var="log"
bandingInterval="1"
banding="row"
rows="5"
inlineStyle="border: 1px solid Silver ;width:700px;height:100px;overflow:scroll;" >
<af:column sortable="true" sortProperty="strDesc" width="700" noWrap="false" >
<f:facet name="header">
<af:outputText value="Description"/>
</f:facet>
<af:outputText value="#{log.strDesc}" />
</af:column>
</af:table>
I tried removing noWrap however it places a horizontal scroll bar (which i dont want and hence implementing this wrap text functionality) in the table.
please help,
Manglesh

  • JTextAreaCellRenderer to wrap text in multiple columns... any better way?

    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=664671&messageID=3893724
    Although the technique works, a disadvantage is that it cannot be used "as is" for multiple columns due to the setRowHeight/revalidate issue. One suggested workaround was to keep track of the maximum row height, as described here:

    Both seem a bit rough. Are there any other options or more efficient techniques for automatically wrapping text in a JTable cell?

    Hello, did you search online? there are many tutorials like this one: http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photoshop-text/text-effects/text-wrap/
    You simply create a path, substract the parts you do not need, then click with the text tool inside.
    Note that it is not a dynamic text wrap, you need to change it if you move the objects around.

  • Wrap text in Report column

    Hi,
    I've tried to set a standard report's column width in all available places in the column's attributes but it ignores me. I'm using Apex 3.1 and found a javascript workaround but am sure there must be an easyer way.
    Can someone tell me where I have to set the width so it wraps text into the needed amount of lines? I searched for it because I was sure there'd be something but not found nothing (maybe not searching right :p )
    Thank you,
    Marc

    Hi Chris,
    Done what you said but the column still takes the width of it's content. Any idea why might that be?
    The only solution I've found that works for now is this javascript process:

  • Need to wrap text around HTML widget

    Hi,
    I'm making a site with pages that contain lots of text and images to go along with the text next to it. The person hosting the site however says that all photos need to be linked through photobucket due to space,so I need to use HTML widgets for the photos, and i want it hosting on this site as opposed to .me. I know that you can wrap text around inserting images from your own computer and you can't wrap it around a widget, so at the moment i've inserted boxes into the text and put the widgets over the boxes but when viewed in a browser everything is out of place.
    Is there any other solution? there really should be.
    Cheers,
    Tom

    There is a way to lock the text so that it will appear the same in all browsers regardless of font or platform: apply a drop shadow with 6% opacity to the font which will convert it to an image. When you do you'll see this icon on the text box:
    Click to view full size
    To see the image indicator you'll have to select the checkbox "Show text imaging indicator" in iWeb's preferences:
    Click to view full size
    There is a downside to this in that having addition image files on the page can add to the loading time. That may or may not be an issue but if it is you can always remove the drop shadow.
    NOTE: The text appears to be 13 pt Lucida Grande which is pretty small and difficult to read IMO. Using Times New Roman 14, a serf font, takes up about the same amount of room and, IMO, is much easier to read. Just a though.

  • I have never used PS, and I am trying to edit a brochure created by someone else.  I need to move text from one column to another

    I have never used PhotoShop and do not have time at the present. Please help me to move a section of text from one column to another in a brochure.

    Here are 3 options for future reference:
    1. With the setup you've described, apply a Match Move behavior to  the text and make the rectangle the source. Change the Transform parameter to Mimic source.  This way you can still adjust the text postion as needed, but the rectangle will drive the animation.
    2. Use a group to do the animation.  Put both your rectangle and text in the same group and animate the group's postion.
    3. Use the Link behavior.
    Each of these has it's advantages depending on what you need.

  • Wrapping text in standard Webdynpro View

    I needed to wrap text in a standard view of the webvdynpro component. I created a enhancement of the view and reduced the width of the root container in the enhancement . I saved it and activated it.  the next time I went to view the details I changed, the details changes were undone. How do I make a permanent change to the width attribute value?

    Using the enhancement framework within a View, you can only add new UI elements or delete existing ones. You can't change the properites of existing UI elements:

  • How to align headline to column, rather than wrapped text

    I have a large text box containing multiple paragraphs aligned to the left. Throughout there are 5 sub heads that need to be centered. There are images that the paragraphs are wrapping to. When I use the Align Center option for the subheads, some are aligned to the entire text box and some are aligned to the center of the wrapped text. (The images do not extend to the subheads, so it is not a situation where the text wrap is forcing the subheads to move) I would like all of the subheads to be consistently in the center of the entire text box - is there an option I am missing?
    Sorry if this is an obvious question, but I appreciate any help!

    This one is using dummy text, but it shows the same issue I am having. You can see where Subhead #2 and #4 are affected by the image text wrap. I know I can use a center tab, but am wondering if there is a way to change the settings to make them center to the entire column.
    (The red dotted line is just to show where that the center line.)

  • Webforms - Wrap Text/Word Wrap for Column Headings

    I have some member aliases that are set as my webform's column headings, but they are fairly long. Setting the column width to a custom value that fits most of the text in the heading makes the form very wide and ugly to work with. I don't see any option to Wrap Text or use Word Wrap in the column headings. Is there any way to do this?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    I am not aware of any option which allows you to wrap the text, it may be possible customizing the [CSS |http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_hp_admin/ch12s03.html] though to be honest I am not even sure about that and even if it was possible it would apply to all apps.

  • Text wrap effects text in different columns differently

    In InDesign CS4, if you have a 2-column text box and a graphic with a text wrap that spans from one column into another, the text wrap will offset the text in the two columns by different amounts if the graphic is aligned with the top of the text box. That shouldn't happen; the very same text wrap on the very same graphic should offset the text in the two columns by the same amount. But it doesn't. The baselines will not line up from column to column.
    Clearly you can get around this if you snap to a baseline grid. But what if you don't want to use baseline grid? Is there a way to get the text wrap to offset the text in both columns equally?
    I have attached a screen capture to demonstrate the problem. In this case, the baselines align, but the text wrap is clearly affecting the text in the left column and not affecting the text in the right column, even though they are aligned on the same baseline! Any suggestions?

    You're right, it shouldn't happen, but it's a long-standing bug (or feature).  One workaround is to use a baseline grid. Another is to adjust the wrap offset so that it matches the baseline in the opposite column. Another way is to not design so a wrapped object blocks the full width of one column but not it's neighbor. It doesn't matter where you have the wrapped object -- if it completely blockst the top of one column and leaves a any space at the top in an adjacent column where text will fit, you'll get the potential for unbalanced baselines.
    The reason it happens is that in a column where text can reach the top, the baseline for the first line is controlled byt he first baseline settings in the text frame options. If the text can't reach the top of the column the positioning is controlled by the depth of the object and any additional offset for the wrap.

  • In SSRS , after exporting report in excel,wrap text property for cell and freeze column for SSRS table header not working in Excel

    I am working no one SSRS my table headers are freeze cangrow property is false and my report is working perfect while rendering data on RDL and i want same report after exporting in Excel also , i want my table header to be freeze and wrap text property
    to work after exporting in my report in excel but its not working ,is there any solution ? any patch ? any other XML code for different rendering ?

    Hi Amol,
    According to your description, you find the wrap text property and fix column is not working after exporting into Excel. Right?
    In Reporting Services, when exporting to excel file, it has limitation for textbox.
    Text boxes are rendered within one Excel cell. Font size, font face, decoration, and font style are the only formatting that is supported on individual text within an Excel cell.
    Excel adds a default padding of approximately 3.75 points to the left and right sides of cells. If a text box’s padding settings are less than 3.75 points and is just barely wide enough to accommodate the text, the text may wrap in Excel.
    In this scenario, it supposed to be wrap text unless you merge cells. If cells are merged, word-wrap does not work correctly. If any merged cells exist on a row where a text box is rendered with the
    AutoSize property, autosize will not work. For the Fix Data Property, it can't be working in Excel. These are features when exporting to Excel. We can't change it because it's by design.

  • I need to create a flyer which contains as example 33 lines of text in a column. All textlines have

    I need to create a flyer which contains as example 33 lines of text in a column. All textlines have to be underlined in a color. I tried this with „Absatzlinie darunter“ (might be „Paragraph line underneath“.

    Guten Morgen!

  • InDesign's auto-handling of parallel texts in parallel columns

    Everyone I have asked this question of says -- "I am not exactly sure what you are trying to do ..."   So PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.
    I was told that Indesign could handle this easily.  Adobe's East Indian support had no idea what I was talking about.  Their U.S. office failed to respond.
    When you develop a book length project (400 pages or so) of 4 parallel texts, there is NO REASON whatsover why you would want EVEN pages to wrap over to ODD pages.  You typically have 2 columns holding 2 *different* texts on the left (even) page, and you also have 2 totally different columns holding another 2 totally *different* texts on the (odd) right pages.  So in facing page mode, you see 4 different texts ALL in parallel with each other.
    The consequences of this seems SO hard for most people to understand.  It means the 2 columns of texts on the LEFT (even) page will ALWAYS stay on the left page, no matter which page of the book you turn to, and the 2 columns of texts on the right page will ALWAYS stay on the right pages.
    There is NO WRAPPING from even pages onto odd pages, and vice versa.  What is in column 1 of the even page ALWAYS stays in column 1 of every even page in the book.  When you turn the pages of the book, everything aligns perfectly -- the left 2 texts are in parallel with the right 2 texts.
    I can't see why people have so much problem understanding this SIMPLE book layout, of 4 parallel texts spread across 2 facing pages -- which is VERY common in scholarly texts. Nevertheless, they do.  So if you don't see what I am asking for, please re-read the above until you do.  Now, I was told that Indesign can do this easily, but Adobe staff have failed to respond.  So let me ask you Indesign experts in this forum the crucial question --
    If you set up a 4 page layout, where the 2 columns in the left (even) page of page 2 wraps down to the left (even) page of page 4 (no, not page 3) -- and the 2 columns in the right (odd) page of say page 3 wraps down to page 5 (no, not page 4) -- can you get the program to make this layout persist over 400 pages without the user having to laboriously link, page by page, every even page to the next even page, and every odd page to the next odd page?
    More specifically, if I have 4 columns spread across 2 facing pages, and I tell Indesign that page 2 columns wrap to page 4 columns (no, not to page 3 columns), and I link page 3 columns to page 5 columns (no, not page 4 columns)  -- CAN INDESIGN realize this is a pattern that repeats throughout the entire book, and do it automatically for me???  My people are simply NOT going to understand how to link odd to odd pages and even to even.
    i.e. I need to set up a 4 page layout, which gives the even-to-even linking, and the odd-to-odd linking, and after that the PROGRAM ITSELF needs to be smart enough to realize that this is the layout that you want for 4 parallel columns .... and it replicates it on all pages, until you tell it otherwise.
    So the question is -- can Indesign do this or not??  It is a simple YES / NO answer.  Either Indesign can recongize the layout for 4 pages (i.e. two facing pages replicated to the next 2 facing pages) and keep this layout going for the length of the book -- or it cannot.  It is either one or the other.
    If I have to laboriously link EVERY odd page frame in the book to every odd page, over 400 pages, and I have to link every even page frame in the book to every subsequent even page -- then we have a serious mental gap with the developers of the program.  Anyone who has worked with multiple parallel texts knows that this is the NORM for multiple parallel book texts.  The problem I am having is finding a program whose developers comprehend this.
    Please realize, I have gone through about 30 programs, and YES, I am frustrated.  If Indesign can do this easily without me having to mindlessly create 400 repetitive page-frame to page-frame links that should be obvious to the program (and its developers) then please say: "YES it can do this for you."
    Thank you for your knowledgeable help -- without getting upset that I have struggled over the past 2 months to make people realize this simple need.

    Hey Joel, nice post, thank you.  If you look for scratchyboy or "scrathcyboy" on the web, you will see I am a hardware and M$ software guru.  There is almost nothing about windows I can't fix or tear to pieces.  But why windows would destruct on installing SP2 -- I have never figured that out yet !!
    "It sounds like the the CS4 functionality and AFP will work well for you; do you have a second computer to use as a testbed?"
    I have a network of 10 computers, each dedicated to special functions.  I thought of Win7 on one, but decided not to, because of no efficiency advantage (see the best XP-W7 comparison -- http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Windows/Windows_7/Q_2525764 2.html).
    "In your shoes, I might try to do it more cheaply"
    THANK YOU for sugesting this, it was on my mind since this morning.  Between monitor and software, we are pusing $2000 here, and since my ORG is non-profit, I probably won't recover that outlay.  So let me ask you -- and EVERYONE ELSE too -- something that has been bugging me ....
    Why can't a Word Processor do this??  I know this is an InDesign forum, but you guys are the sharpest I have met, so let me lay it out for you .. and hold your breath !!  The first parallel column book I ever produced was written in WORDSTAR for DOS ( ... Gasp !!! ....)  and with Wordstar's DOT commands, hell, I could do anything I wanted ... font kerning, multi-column layout, even odd pages wrapping to odd pages, and even to even.
    This, as it turns out is the achilles heel of all modern word processors.  The developers (yes they are to blame for lack of experience) NEVER conceived of parallel columns, and since they did not understand parallel texts, they never realized this obvious -- "hey if you have 2 different parallel texts on the even pages and 2 other ones on the odd pages -- then suddenly the page wrap model changes -- it then becomes illogical to wrap even to odd pages.
    So I have tried just about every word processor but PageMaker (never liked it, maybe you guys can help here??) -- the only two WPs that attempt to grasp parallel columns are Lotus WordPro, and Corel Wordperfect (which I found unstable and unusable for long texts of more than 15 pages or so).
    If you look at my layout above, it is really quite basic -- 2 parallel "discussions" on the left page, aligned with 2 parallel texts on the right page.  There is nothing here a word processor should not be able to handle ... except for their ONE achilles heel -- they all seem to insist on forcing every even page to wrap to the next odd page number ... blindly NEVER considering a 4-parallel-column layout spread across facing pages, as ALL books display.
    So how about PageMaker 7?  Can it do this?  I have bought and acquired so much Adobe software (I was an early beta tester for Photoshop) that I have never used ... I sure would like to make some use of it, even if years old.  All I need is a WP that can do 4 columns split 2 on the left, 2 to right.  It is really that simple, and all the WP has to do is realize if the left page texts differ from the right, you do NOT wrap even to odd, only even to even.
    So HOW ABOUT IT GUYS???  If you can't figure this out, hell, there is no group of people I know who can figure it out.  So LAY ON McDUFF ....
