I have no experiance with workers in AIR, but I think you are assuming that things work like HTML5 web workers, which they do not. Check out the ActionScript3 dpcs to see how they work:

Need Tutorial for Simple Voice Recording

I'm running for public office, and a local newspaper invited me to submit a statement along with a MP3 audio file. I asked a question on another forum about software that can be used to make MP3 files on a Leopard platform, and I was told to use GarageBand.
I viewed the video tutorial for Podcasts and also checked out another Apple tutorial, but they don't go very far. In contrast, GarageBand 3: Getting Started is overwhelming.
I would like to start by making a very simple audio - nothing more than a two-minute recording of my voice, with no overlaid music, no images, loops or other enhancements.
Can anyone list the steps I need to follow, from recording my speech to converting it to an MP3 file?
I've cliked the Male track, recorded my voice, stopped the recording (though probably incorrectly), then double-clicked on the file to play it back, but nothing happens.

It's very easy:
• Create a "real instrument" track and select a voice preset or no effects at all.
• Hit "record" to record your voice, hit the record button again or the stop button to stop recording.
• Move the playhead to the appropriate position for playback.
• If you like your recording, select "Share to iTunes" from the menu and select compression with MP3.

I know how to make an onpage embedded video play but.....
I'm looking into doing something like this:

Need tutorial on how to produce video

I can't find this anywhere. I need to find a tutorial of some kind that will teach me how to produce video using still images and vector art among other non-video things.
It needs to be from the ground up as I've really only been poking around in it (and Premiere and Soundbooth) for about a week.

Man, I was hoping you wouldn't say CIB. I have the Flash one and while it's a little informative, I can't say I'm impressed with it. However, it may give me the foundation I'm looking for here.
I'm already fairly well versed in Illy; will just need to learn how to take that knowledge and apply it to video resolutions (this aspect ratio thing of 0.9 and 1.2 has got me spinning when I can't figure out how to properly view a finished product as it will be seen on something other than a computer screen).
Six weeks may be a bit too long. What I need first is basically something a tad better than a decent Powerpoint presentation for DV. I don't need to produce something right off the bat that we'll use for TV commercials; I just need to show the higher-ups that the money they invested in this software (that we were on schedule to buy last September instead purchased last month) was worth it.
I have no doubt that experience is a major factor here. But I'm barely treading water here. If I don't find a surfboard soon, I'll drown. However, based on what's been done for us by "professionals" in the past, the bar isn't set very high for me.
I haven't bothered with any of the GTA games. They don't make that for PCs, do they? I'm not a gaming console guy.
Dropping stuff in the project window I have down no problem; it's knowing what needs to be done beforehand to the files I'll drop there and how to accurately preview them that's raising my blood pressure.
Knowing I won't knock anything out of the park any time soon, I've started small: a 2.5 second "signature" to be placed at the end of a commercial or segment. Black screen, PS-treated background element with a minor scaling effect, and logo with a short wave file. I thought I had that relatively simple thing figured out, but I can't seem to find a way to view it as it would appear on a widescreen TV. It's just stretched and I can't tell if it just looks like that on my computer screen because of how that displays aspect ratio and it will look fine on our widescreens in the stores or not.
If I can figure out that 2.5 spot, I may just have a chance at figuring out how to create the rest of it.

Hi,
You can use employees table for this. Create one EO and EO based VO on this table and use manager_id or job_id as LOV fields.
Create another read-only VO for LOV region where you can select distinct job_id or manager_id from employees table.

Need Tutorial about file upload

Have anybody a link or something else to a tutorial for uploading files with JSF?
And i mean with the "plain" JSF RI 1.2 from Sun. Google gives me a lot of Websites with Apache myFaces and myfaces extensions, but i use facelets.
So i have to bring all the the packages together and to mutch action for my little app.

Using plain JSF RI 1.2 is not possible to do what you want.That's a pity!
So, you need to use an additional component library
like apache tomahawk.I know that. But what does the "additional component library" do?
Don't misunderstand me please. I want to learn how file uploads works in JSF and J2EE, not to learn some "magic" libraries.
For most Java problems you can get "additional libraries", but sometimes it's better you make it on your own to learn how it works.

Newbie needs tutorial to animate arrows exploding in a starburst

Hi, I need help with an animation. Maybe it's impossible. I'm new to Motion and need to animate arrows on a map, exploding from a central point in a sort of starburst. Just to make it difficult, I'd like the arrows to curve upwards in a 3d curve like rockets spraying out in a circle. Can anyone point me to a tutorial please? Thanks, Phil

Start searching for particles, replicators, and 3D in Motion. If you're totally new to motion graphics and animation systems, this could take you several days to figure out just how to set it up. Perfecting your effect could be out of the question since you will be using 3D objects, a camera, lights, motion blur, a replicator or particle system, and advanced rendering options.
Start by searching for particle systems tutorials. I'm jsut saying the effect you've described can go two ways: Adequate, or Totally Cool. Depends on your patience and proclivity for new stuff that is not entirely intuitive.
Search for Patrick's "fun with" series of tutorials and project files.

But, I want to do this sort of thing in Illustrator. Most of the tutorial I can figure out how to do in Illustrator without a problem, but not step 10. Can anyone point me to similar tutorials using Illustrator instead of Corel? I'm wanting to create the appearance of an old-fashioned or medieval sign board, like the type of wooden sign you would see hanging outside of a craftsman's shop.

The step-by-step you are looking at is poorly written. All mainstream drawing programs have a set of basic features that can combine paths in different ways. Draw calls them Shaping, Illustrator calls them Pathfinders, FreeHand calls them Combine Operations. They all do pretty much the same things, but with some program-specific behavior differences.
The Corel tutorial mentions Trim. (But frankly, the results shown suggest it used Draw's Arrange>Combine command.) Regardless, the operation in step 10 involves making a copy of one path, and using it to "punch" the original like a cookie cutter. Again, this is a very basic vector drawing feature, but is called different things in different programs. Draw calls it Trim (according to the tutorial) or Back Minus Front; Illustrator, in its typically inelegant fashion calls it Subtract From Shape Area; FreeHand calls it Punch.
Note that some of Illustrator's Pathfinders (among them, the one being discussed) optionally result in the operation being applied as a "live effect." The operation is rendered on the screen, but the whole original paths are acutally still there. You "nail down" the "live effect" by "expanding" it.
