Need value in a field to be Save As name of document

Hello,
I have a text field which will have a value in it that will also be the name of the PDF. I am familiar with JavaScript as it applies to InDesign, but do not have a clue as to how to write a script for Adobe Acrobat. I know this much:

I want the field to perform an action. I can make the action to open the Save As dialog upon exiting the field, but I would like Save As to already have the value of that field. Since a number of folks will be using this form the script has to be embedded in the form.

I have a table created similarly to the sample Purchase Order form. I want the user to enter the quantity needed. Then I want to have a script populate the quantity field on each item in the table. However, some items that are ordered have a different number of parts. I'm not sure how to account for the various number of rows that may be encountered.

Hi,
You can set the type to 'calculated - user can override' in the Object > Value palette. Example here: https://acrobat.com/#d=20TXqhWneiQhOMRVoJVXhQ
However I am not sure if you will get the user experience that you are after. You can set the quantity rawValue to match that of the first row. The user would be able to override this, but will get warning messages, which may be disconcerting.

Difficulty in setting value of a field at runtime

I have a form with input text fields. One of the fields is disabled and automatically filled by the system. I am having problem filling this field at runtime.
What I did was that I tried to set the value of the field during the save operation (that is when I clicked on the save button). The system sets the value of the field but it did not commit the value into the table. This is is the code that I used

The issue I see is that by putting this.codeTypeId.setValue("GB011"); wont be updating the model, and that is why after your commit, the value comes null. Is that variable depending on any other value? If you really want to update the model at that stage you will need to do something like;

If this variable depends on another variable, you can use a setPropertyListener and autoSubmit=true.

Acrobat pro 9 - save with name lost format of document.

Hi all !!
When save with name a document after modify, it lost the format. A lot of words appear broken with a space between two letters:
Example:
Before " Your instructions were excellent "
After save with name: " Yo ur instru ctions were excell ent"

Very likely you have it set to embed the substitute fonts when you do a save as. I just had an issue with one sent to me that if I did a font embed (they were not embedded), the same thing happened. Instead of doing this, I simply printed to a new PDF (lose any bookmarks and such) and got what I wanted with all of the fonts embedded. I suspect your original did not have the fonts embedded and you are seeing the result. You might also check to see if you have Use Local Fonts selected or not, then reverse that selection and see if that helps.

Need to get the values from "Signed" field from PDF form.

2>In the EOImpl java file in the setter method for the respective field have written below code.

Need help formatting text field default value

I've received a customer request to put default text into the Value section of a text field. They're requesting that the default text include line breaks, bullets, etc. I added a Text Field object and added the default text to the Object tab > Value tab Default field but can't figure out how to add line breaks, etc.

Hi,
this is possible but not doable with the UI of Designer.
The workaround is as follows:
1. Create a text, enter your default text with all the formattings you need (text color, bold text, line breaks etc.)
2. Create a text field and enter any word as default value. Let's say "Default".
3. Select the text and the switch to the XML Source view.
There you will find all the formatted text between the <value> tags such as:
<value>
 <exData contentType="text/html">
 <body xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:xfa="http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-data/1.0/">This is default Text • with RichText formatting.</body>
 </exData>
</value>
4. Select the whole code between the <value> tags and copy it to the clipboard (ctrl + c).
5. Go to the Design View, select the text field, go back to the XML Source view.
6. There you'll also find the value <tags> and your default value you entered before.

7. Select this code section and paste the value copied before to the clipboard by pressing ctrl + v.
8. That's it. When you now go back to the Design View your text field shows a formatted RichText as defaul text.

Need to generate "n" number of files if value of a field say "B" is "n"

I have a Proxy to file scenario,where I need to generate "n" number of files if value of a field say "B" is "n".
My source structure is :

 C
Source
How can I do it,all the rest field values will be same in the all the files ,except 1 filed which will increase from 1 to "n" from 1st file to last file.

First step is to create a UDF (user defined function). Create One input and create two output varaibles for this UDF.
It will have two objectives
1. to create source node of the target message (output1_
2. to create the node B for the target side
As per your requirement you need to create the Source Node of the target message as per the value of B ( if 2 then two source nodes at target)
In the UDF take B as input
int b = B[0];
for(int i=0;i<b;i++)
output1.addValue(" "); //you need to map this out put with the source node of your target
output2.addValue(i+1); // this field should be mappoed with the field B of target

Need help with Replace Metadata then multiple Save script

I am attempting to create a javascript to run on a folder of PSDs. I need it to:
1. Replace image Metadata with an existing Metadata Template called "UsageTerms".
2. Play an existing Action "Prep_PrintRes". (The action sharpens and converts to 8-bit)
3. Append "_PrintRes" to the filename. (ie OriginalPSDName_PrintRes.jpg)
4. Save the file as a 12 Quality JPEG to specific folder on my hard drive, "D:/Transfer".
5. Play an existing Action "Prep_Magazine" (The action resizes, sharpens, and converts to CMYK)
6. Append "_Magazine" to the filename. (ie OriginalPSDName_Magazine.jpg)
7. Save the file as a 10 Quality JPEG WITH NO EMBEDDED PROFILE to "D:/Transfer".
8. Play an existing Action "Prep_Screen". (The action sizes, sharpens, and converts to sRGB)
9. Append "_ScreenRes" to the filename (ie OriginalPSDName_ScreenRes.jpg)
10. Save the file as an 8 Quality JPEG to "D:/Transfer"

I need some help for passing values into the field Catalog of an ALERT Monitor.
The requirement is to add new fields in the ALERT Monitor and then populate them with values form the PRODUCT view.
I have implemented method MODIFY_ALERTLIST of BADI /SAPAPO/AM_ALERTLIST. I am able to add the new columns but I am unable to add the values. Actually while debugging i found that even though the NEW values are going into the table T_ALERTS, but the space between the New Added values and the original value is HUGE. Therefore when the Field Catalog is displayed in the Alert Monitor, the NEW Values are not shown.

How to hide a field based on the value of a field in a different subform - null check doesn't work!

I'm using Javascript to set the actions. I need to hide a text field if the value of a field in another sub-form is null.
- tried checking the value of the other field for null - doesn't work
- tried setting a variable str2 where I know the value of the other field is available then checking that variable when I initialize the text field - doesn't work
What am I missing?

Custom Calculation Script to copy value of a field

Hi,
      I'm trying to copy the value of a field into another field and display it in the pdf. This is for the 1099's. We are trying to print 2 copies(Copy B and Copy 2) in one page. The first field will come from the XML file. I need to copy the value of this field into the second field. Can anyone please help me with the calculation script for this. I tried the getField.value and it didn't work in the pdf. Thanks.

Hi,
There are a couple of approaches.
One would be to put the script in the radio buttons that when clicked would do the calculate and set the value of the numeric field.
Another would be to have the script in the calculate event of the numeric field looking back at the value of the radio button. Taking this approach the script in the numeric field calculate event would look like this:
if (radioButton.rawValue == 1) // radio button bound to 1 is on/yes
     this.rawValue = ; // your calculation goes here
else
     this.rawValue = null;
This is testing the value of the radio button and then taking appropriate calculations.
