NetBeans ApplicationBean PageFragmentBox upload

Hi. I have a site created in NetBeans (it's a Visual Web Application). It's based on Sun tutorials for NetBeans like this one http://www.netbeans.org/kb/55/vwp-fileupload.html
Apart from the File Upload component I also have - as a header - Page Fragment Box where there are : one picture (image component) and 3 hyperlinks. I'd like to have a possibility to change the logo by uploading it through FileUpload component. I can upload pictures to the image component at the same page, but I would like to upload a pic to the image component in the Page Fragment Box. How can I do that/access the PFB using ApplicationBean?
Every hint appreciated.

Ok, that was easy.
First I added a property to the ApplicationBean.
ApplicationBean - > Add Property (say..String) and gave it a name - say "path"
Then I bound the image in the PFB with the String - "path" in the AplicationBean
Then on the page where my FileUpload component was I added:
if ( uploadedFileName != null ) {
        /*this sets the URL for the image component on the same page - so I
        have two images at this page - one in Page Fragment Box and one in
        Image component, and then on the other pages the logo in the header
        stays so that works for me*/
         image1.setUrl(IMAGE_URL);
            ApplicationBean1 ab = getApplicationBean1(); // this
            ab.setPath(IMAGE_URL);]                       // and this added
        }and that made the trick.! :)
for some it might have looked trivial but it took me some time to see how it can work.

  • Netbeans - How to Upload a csv File

    Hi all
    A J2EE question from a java beginner:
    I am using NetBeans and JBoss to develop a web application.
    I need to create a JSP page for user to upload a csv file and then read from the csv file (the file is in certain fixed format).
    The csv file will be read line by line to be updated into database.
    In JSP Page I have this:
    <td align="left" scope="col"><input type="file" name="meterList" id="meterList"></td>
    <td><input type="submit" name="upload" id="upload" value="Upload File" ></td>What should I do in Servlet when I clicked on the "Upload" button?
    How if I want to control the uploading size and type of the the file?
    How to get the file to be processed in servlet?
    Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks alot.

  • NetBeans and Sun ONE Web Server 6.1

    I have a JSP / Beans / Servlet Web application working in Tomcat on my local machine, a Macintosh laptop. I used NetBeans to create it all, and everything works fine there. I have tried to upload everything to another computer (Solaris based) which is running Sun ONE Web Server 6.1, but am having problems.
    I uploaded the WAR file that NetBeans created, and uploaded the 'web' directory that NetBeans created. I can access HTML files from that web folder, but when I ask it to go to the first page, index.jsp, it has a problem with the beans. In my JSP file I do:
    <jsp:useBean id="db" class="drc.database" scope="session" />
    It seems to be having problems loading that class. What do I need to do? Here is the error code:

    it is certifying / authenticating that the secured
    web site is owned by the genune party and the
    transactions with the party is doing through a
    encrypted format.
    Am i correct up to this???Correct, that is what SSL/certificates are for.
    >
    Then my dowt is that
    Is it possible to make my server SSL enabled with
    h out using any certificate ????( the documents you
    are given is telling about certificates)No it is not possible - the whole idea behind SSL communication is that it is based on TRUSTED secure communication. If a client can not check validity of server's certificate it is not trusted any more.
    It might not seem to be the case when you create a self-signed certificate, but it really is so. In case of a self signed certificate you(i.e your browser) trust yourself with whatever you do with your application on your webserver.
    After all can I install some certificates lateron ??
    If you really need SSL with your webserver you have to either create a self signed certificate, see this: http://sial.org/howto/openssl/self-signed/
    or request a test certificate from www.verisign.com or www.thawtee.com

  • Why does PHP code i wrote in Netbeans not work in Dreamweaver?

    Hello i've made some code in Netbeans that worked perfectly there. I tested it on the same server and everything so that can't be the problem it's truely how Dreamweaver handles the code differently from Netbeans. I'd like to know how i can avoid that though cause it's quite annoying.
    my code is:
    <?php

    * and open the template in the editor.

        $imagearray = array();
        array_push($imagearray, '<td> <img src="' . $imgdir . $name .'" border=0 /> </td>');
        echo "image size:" . sizeof($imagearray);
        echo '<table border="10"> <tr border="10">';
        foreach($imagearray as $image)
            echo $image . "<br/>";
        echo '</tr> <table/>';

                <p>click to upload this picture</p>
                <input type="submit" value="Upload"/>
            </form>
    </html>
    for some reason it starts showing text on the webpage from the place where i've made the text bold
    Could someone please enlighten me why this happens cause i honestly have no clue.

    You must have done something incorrect when adding the if statement:

  • Image upload/retrieve turorial not working

    The tutorial regarding image upload retrieval in the following link is not working:
    http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/tips/2/retrieve_binary_data.html
    I get the following error:
    Java.sql.SQLException: Error in allocating a connection. Cause: Connection could not be allocated because: java.security.PrivilegedActionException : Error opening socket to server localhost on port 21527 with message : null
    Thanks

    Hi Sakthi,
    Finally I managed to make it work with the following modifications:
    (1) In the servlet jdbc/Order> jdbc/Travel
    (2) The datasource names for the rowsets in the session as Travel (instead of Order)
    Another observation I made is: If you bind the url of the image component (which is on the datatable column) to a (for example applicationbean) property which retruns the necessary url, it is very convinent to handle the datatable layout visually. (Otherwise if you go to the datatable layout it shows some error message popup)
    Thanks.

  • Uploading File To MySQL from HTML form via Servlet

    Hello all !
    I hope this is better place to ask.
    I'm working on simple Servlet/Jsp application trying to hold to MVC pattern and got stuck on uploading file to MySQL db.
    Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:
    1) client submits a JPEG image via a simple html form on a webpage.
    2) JPEG is put into a database table, column field of type BLOB.
    3) Servlet processes the request, gets a connection to the db and inserts the image into the table.
    4) after that user is able to retrieve an image from db and display it in JSP page.
    This is pretty much the same task Angela was trying to do here:

    I could use her snippets if i knew what is what and decided to figure out this myself. Aftet some investigation i found out that i need to import org.apache.commons.fileupload.*;which i found here: http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/fileupload/
    what am i driving at ?
    -----------------------1-----------------------
    After first line of code
    boolean isPart = FileUpload.isMultipartContent(request);netBeans 5.5 beta2 with bundled Tomcat 5.5.17 underlines this with warning saying that
    org.apache.commons.fileupload.FileUploadBase
    has been depreceted
    is it a reason for concern ?
    -----------------------2-----------------------
    Is it actually good idea to store images in db as blob ?
    what about large ammounts of text ?
    thank you
    -Dominik

    is it a reason for concern ?Yes.
    You should take a look at the method in the documentation and find out exact reason for depricating it.
    If it is depricated becouse they going to remove it in the future you should use the new alternative method becouse if you use the old method your app will not work in the future releases of the API.
    If it is depricated becouse it is not safe to use the method you should clearly understand the risks involved in using the method and see if that can give you any trouble in your project.
    -----------------------2-----------------------
    Is it actually good idea to store images in db as
    blob ?I think that it is ths best option available when you want to store binary data
    what about large ammounts of text ?You can use clob columns.
    By the way when you store files in the database its better you put some extra columns to store the file name and file type(mime) becouse you cant directly detect those things later by just looking at the data of the file.

  • Visual Web JSF Portlet Upload file Problem in Websynergy

    Hello,
    I am using Websynergy milestone 3 release. I have tried to build AS A PORTLET the sample code, "Uploading Files in NetBeans Visual Web JSF Applications" (http://www.netbeans.org/kb/60/web/intro.html) using netbeans 6.5. The solution deploys successfully but unfortunately, the file Upload control does not work in the websynergy portlet environment. No file seems to be uploaded. The same code works very well in non-portlet environment. Is there a work-around for the Portlet environment?
    Looking forward to some help!

I can use javax.crypto.Cipher/BadPaddingException/IllegalBlockSizeException/NoSuchPaddingException/spec/ShortBuffrException only. If i try to use any other class of javax.crypto, i get an error.

  • Upload file in JSP with Oracle Database 10gR2

    How to upload file with oracle database 10gR2??
    i can't find how to upload..
    i've tried to create a procedure in oracle and execute in netbeans but the file save in directory and then from directory save to database.
    it means the file save in 2 location, in directory and database..
    does anybody know how to save file direct from the JSP file into database without save in directory?
    this is the procedure..
    create or replace PROCEDURE load_file (
    p_id number,
    p_photo_name in varchar2) IS
    src_file BFILE;
    dst_file BLOB;
    lgh_file BINARY_INTEGER;
    BEGIN
    src_file := bfilename('DIR_TEMP', p_photo_name);
    -- insert a NULL record to lock
    INSERT INTO temp_photo
    *(id, photo_name, photo)*
    VALUES
    *(p_id , p_photo_name ,EMPTY_BLOB())*
    RETURNING photo INTO dst_file;
    -- lock record
    SELECT photo
    INTO dst_file
    FROM temp_photo
    WHERE id = p_id
    AND photo_name = p_photo_name
    FOR UPDATE;
    -- open the file
    dbms_lob.fileopen(src_file, dbms_lob.file_readonly);
    -- determine length
    lgh_file := dbms_lob.getlength(src_file);
    -- read the file
    dbms_lob.loadfromfile(dst_file, src_file, lgh_file);
    -- update the blob field
    UPDATE temp_photo
    SET photo = dst_file
    WHERE id = p_id
    AND photo_name = p_photo_name;
    -- close file
    dbms_lob.fileclose(src_file);
    END load_file;

    Well your Oracle procedure is designed to load a file, so that's what it does. If you want it to load from a data stream such as an upload, you need to rewrite it accordingly.
    So far this is not a Java question at all.

  • Display images in rows & columns using dataTable in JSF 2.0, netbeans 6.9.1

    Hi,
    I have to display only images on a web page in JSF2.0 in Netbeans. I am using datatable and column to do so. But there is one problem.
    All images are display only in single column(i.e. vertically). I want to display in rows and columns not only column.
    e.g. One row will have atleast 3 images and more rows like this.
    Which attribute should i use of datatable? or should i use some other tag?
    My code is:
    <h:dataTable var="images"
    value="#{jsfMBean.allImages}"
    rules="none"
    cellpadding="20"
    border="0" >
    <h:column>
    <h:graphicImage value="faces/WEB-INF/upload/#{images.picid}" width="300px" height="100px" />
    </h:column>
    </h:dataTable>
    Thanks.
    NetBeans 6.9.1
    JSF 2.0 with facelets
    glassfish 3.0
    Enterprise java beans
    PrimeFaces 3.0

    I believe you are looking for the panelgrid, not the datatable.
    Note that there are a few useful websites online that list the available JSF tags plus their properties, such as these:

  • Uploaded  image not shown

    hello experts,
    I have been done a web java application in struts. Its working fine in my pc, where i have netbeans 6.0 IDE. But when i deployed the war file at client pc, where jdk1.5 and tomcat 5.5.9 are installed, its not showing newly uploaded image but it shows all the images which were present while creating war file from my pc. But the image is uploaded. I upload the images into c:\rh\web\photo and c:\rh\build\web\photo ( unless i place here, i can't able see the newly uploaded image without stopping and running the application). I feel the only difference between client Pc and my Pc is, I run my application using netbeans whereas client pc doesn't have netbeans(rest all it has), through tomcat it runs there.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    SRI.

    You know that HTML runs at the client side?
    You know that file system paths are not the same as URL's?
    You know that file system paths points to the file system of the local machine?
    If you have for example a <img src="c:/foo/bar.gif" /> in your HTML, which is been sent from the server to the client side, the web browser will try to search for "c:/foo/bar.gif" in the local file system. This is obviously not going to work when the image is actually located at the server's file system.
    You need to replace file system paths by URL's, so that the client can retrieve the image from the server. When the image is not available in public domain, then create a servlet which accesses the server's file system and sends the desired image to the response. Finally let the URL of the image point to that servlet, along with some unique ID or filename. You may find this example useful: [http://balusc.blogspot.com/2007/04/imageservlet.html].
