Netbeans vwp+deploying to external Tomcat

Hi all,
I need to deploy my vwp-webapp to external Tomcat. It uses Mysql database.
What are the main steps in this? I could'nt find any instructions for it.
Thanks in advance.

In JSC I have deployed webapp successfull copying common-beanutils.jar, common-digester.jar, standard.jar and jstl.jar from [creator]/modules/autoload/ext to [tomcat]/common/lib.
Exporting WAR-file from JSC to [tomcat]/webapps/ and defining a db-connection in tomcat-admin-webapp.
If I copy war-file from [netbeans-project-folder]/application-name/dist to [tomcat]/webapps and start server to deploy it. This is the same as above.
I can see only first page, if I try to use link to another page, it crashes.
This webapp works in Netbeans IDE.
Anybody have a idea or experiences from this?
Thanks.

  • Deploy on external tomcat

    Hey!
    I lately developed an online shop with Netbean 6. I used JSF and deployed it on the bundled tomcat server. Everything worked fine.
    Now I have to port this shop system on another tomcat server. What do I have to do to make it work?
    I tried to take the war file in the dist folder. I wanted to deploy it over the web administration tool of the tomcat server. I just got an error that it didn't work.
    catalina.log says:

  • Trouble deploying application in Tomcat!

    When I try to open the deployed application in the TomCat webserver, it throws a HTTP 404 error!
    However, the same application is working fine in NetBeans, which has a bundled TomCat server!
    Where am I going wrong? The applications that come with Tomcat are working fine, but no matter whatever appl I deploy, it isnt working!

    First, thanks for the suggestions Nick! And I have tried each of these steps you mentioned!
    1) Check your app is deployed and running in Tomcat Web Application Manager. -- YES, IT IS! I CAN SEE THE APPLICATION, RELOAD IT, STOP IT, ETC!
    2) If not deployed, check log file in logs\stdout.log to find out why it didn't deploy. (How are you deploying? Copying the war file across to \webapps?) - I TRIED DEPLOYING THE WAR FILE, THEN I DEPLOYED AN APPL CREATING THE DIRECTORY STRUCTURE, ETC! STILL NO LUCK!
    3) Make sure you're definitely hitting the correct URL (including the context path, which should also be shown in Web Application Manager) - OF COURSE I AM; EVERY APPL I DEPLOY RETURNS 404! THE NATIVE APPLICATIONS HOWEVER WORK FINE
    4) Can you deploy and run any apps in your standalone Tomcat instance? - I DIDNT GET THIS BUT AN APPL WHICH WORKS PERFECTLY FINE IN NETBEANS, ISNT WORKING IN THE STANDALONE TOMCAT!
    5) Try deploying a really simple app to see if that works. - DID & FAILED!

  • Deploying servlet on Tomcat using "ant install" not working. Please help.

    Hello. Normally I can find answers by using search, but I can't today for some reason. So please bare with me if this has been mentioned before. I will try to provide as much info as possible so that helping me isn't too much a chore. Thank you.
    I have downloaded and installed the JWSDP 1.3. and Tomcat is running. I am also using Ant 1.5.4 (previous installation - not one included with JWSDP) and modeled my build.xml file after the template provided here:
    http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.0-doc/appdev/build.xml.txt.
    When I run ant on my respository, everything builds fine. But when I run Ant with the install target, I get the following error:
    BUILD FAILED
    file:C:/owl/build.xml:366: java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response co
    de: 401 for URL: http://localhost:8080/manager/deploy?path=%2Fowl&war=file%3A%2F
    %2FC%3A%5Cowl%2Fbuild
    Here is line 366 build.xml:
    localWar="file://${build.home}"/>
    ...which is included in this block for the target "install":
    <target name="install" depends="compile"
    description="Install application to servlet container">
    <deploy url="${manager.url}"
    username="${manager.username}"
    password="${manager.password}"
    path="${app.path}"
    localWar="file://${build.home}"/>
    </target>
    When I point my brower to the url located in the error verbose, I get the following:
    FAIL - Encountered exception java.lang.NullPointerException
    I am trying to get my environment set up correctly before I start spending time developing servlets, but I am getting tempted to just develop to servlets and "manually" installing/deploying them either by copying and pasting or by using the Tomcat manager. I would really like to do everything from Ant though if possible. Please help.

    I don't think this is at all correct:
    localWar="file://${build.home}"/>You've got to create a real WAR file - a JAR file with WEB-INF and all its minions inside it:
    http://access1.sun.com/techarticles/simple.WAR.html
    That's the file you need to refer to there. You can manage that with Ant too, of course.
    Here's what my Ant build.xml looks like for Web apps (there's a build-web.properties file that follows):
    build-web.xml

  • PDF Viewer component that works in NetBeans VWP

    Hi All,
    I am looking for a PDF Viewer Component that will work with NetBeans VWP. Ideally, this would be something that I could load into the Pallette and drop on a web form for use, then dynamically call up a document for display within the control. (Actually, IDEALLY, this would be a multi-document viewer, i.e. PDF's Word files, text files, etc.). It does not have to be a free tool - though free would be nice. I have checked out the Acrobat Viewer Java Bean but from everything I can find on that, it appears to be something that can be used in Java Apps, but not web apps. If I am wrong about this, can someone please correct me and link to web app usage (as applied to VWP - JSP & JSF).
    Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I noticed a lot of references to IText on this forum and I'm in the process of checking it out now. But I have not seen anything on IText regarding an actual viewer component.
    Thanks,
    Dennis

    I don't believe iText has a viewer as I know of. If Adobe has a java bean then you can create an applet for the client side to display the viewer.

  • Datasource Setup In Netbeans VWP

    Please help me anybody that is how to set datasource in Visual web pack that is using netbeans. I am using mysql server 5.0 and Mysql JDBC Driver 5.04. I can easily create data source in Java Studio
    creator but i am unable to do the same with netbeans VWP. If anybody know about how to set up datasource in VWP pls help me out here.

    I set up driver for MYSQL and created the Database connection using that driver its ok there is no problem.But when i drag n drop a table from MYSQL connection n drop it on table and when i run the project, page will display errors. As i observed the datasource property for the cached row set is not binding proerly. I think that is the reason why page is not able to display that database table data and giving errors.

    Deployment Failed

    I overcame this problem by analyzing the embedded oc4j's server.xml and adding to the standalone's server.xml all missing libraries, of course, i had copy all nedded jars as well
    after solving that, i had an OutOfMemory error, which i solved by setting the environment variable OC4J_JVM_ARGS with "-XX:PermSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m"
    and so far, so good

    how can deploying BO with Tomcat?

    Hi,
    This is a question to ask in the Apache forums if you plan to use it as load balancer.
    I presume that you should set the method accordingly to your needs:

  • How do I deploy an external JAR file

    Hello,
    How do I deploy an external JAR file?
    I am grateful for every hint.

    Hi Manuel,
      If you read my blog mentioned in the beginning of the thread, you will note that such solution is not supported in our engine due to number of reasons.
      Please, read the blog and use application library shared among these two applications. You will achieve the same effect. Please note that the using application will need run and deploy-time dependencies to the shared library.
      You should not add files to any of the folders manually or manipulate engine's classpath in such situations.
    Best Regards,
    Georgi

    BUILD FAILED (total time: 0 seconds)For the moment i have resolved by change the port from 8025 to 8026 but i don't like this solution. :-(
    While the problem on tomcat 5.5.25 that it's not appear on the list of servers for my projects remain.

    I'm resolved the problem on server list, simply specifying a project as j2ee 5 can not appear tomcat 5.5 is necessary to specify j2ee 1.4.
    While for the problem on port just in use I have noticed that sometimes the server remains it isn't close, even exiting from NetBeans, for the moment i use the workaround of closing the process tomcat of linux.
    I hope that on netbeans 6.1 the problem is solved (if it had solved the problem permgen would be even more pleased, but that apparently is a problem of java and then not entered the environment from development).

    I checked that the url http://localhost:8080/xmlpserver/SubTemplates/sub-template-parameters.rtf would be accesible via Internet Explorer, and It is accesible.
    I am glad if you can tell me what could be the cause of the error.
    Thanks.

    Finally, I stop working in the implementation of BIP over Apache Tomcat; I installed OC4J 10.1.3.5.0 (standalone installation) and I deployed BIP on it.
    It seems the error I wrote in last post has been fixed, but actually I am obtaining the following error with the deployment on OC4J:

  • Error [TOPLINK-6007] while calling a web service deployed on external oc4j

    hello everybody,
    Actually, I'm working on a project using oracle soa suite.
    I developped a web service that works fine when I deploy it using the embeded oc4j but when I deploy it on an external oc4j, I get the followed error:
    Internal Server Error (Caught exception while handling request: Exception [TOPLINK-6007] (Oracle TopLink - 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0) (Build 061004)): oracle.toplink.exceptions.QueryException Description de l'exception : Descripteur absent pour [class riad.commun.bean.rh.agents.Agents]. Interrogation : ReadObjectQuery(riad.commun.bean.rh.agents.Agents))
    Can anyone help me? please it's urgent.........

    Hello,
    The error is stating there isn't a descriptor for the Agent class the app is trying to execute a query on. This could be due to improper mappings, but assuming Agent is mapped, is more likely due to a classloader issue. TopLink uses the classloader at login to initialize the descriptors and hash them on the Class objects. If the application uses a different classloader, descriptors will not be found for classes loaded from the new classloader. How are you obtaining sessions, and where is the session being used?
    Best Regards,
    Chris
