Netflix App Issue

So, I downloaded the new Netflix App, and have been watches movies, shows, etc with it, and it has been fine. However, since yesterday, the app just doesn't seem to work. No matter what movie or show I try to load, it plays for 3-7 seconds, freezes, and returns back to the movie selection screen. It does this, no matter where I am at, no matter if I am on 3G, or ANY WiFi network. I've done resets on the phone, re-installed the app, backed up the phone, and reinstalled everything, virtually every possible option, and still will not work. Any suggestions?

I am also having the same issue all though I have yet to be able to watch a movie... Now you maybe able to resolve your issue since yours was actually working try this go into Settings - Netflix - Select reset - do a soft reset and then try Netflix again. You will have to re key in your user name and password. if this doesn't work welcome aboard

  • I'm having a problem logging into the Netflix app (117)

I've repeatedly entered the correct username and password, only to have it tell me that I have entered them wrong with an error code of 117.
I've contacted customer support at Netflix, and it seems that their solution is to recommend changing my Netflix password.  The only way to make it work though seems to be to change it to a number only password.  I don't trust the security of that.  Any other tips or ideas on how to get it to login?
Also, how can I report a bug on this?  To whom would I report it?  Who makes the Netflix app on the Apple TV?  Netflix or Apple?

I'm having the same issue, changed Netflix password, reset apple tv...still error (117) wrong username & password.  I know i have them correct as I can connect on my iPad?
Any solutions.  This is the first time I have used Netflix since updating apple tv to ver 4.4.3 a couple of days ago??

  • Apple - Netflix app needs some work!

While the Netflix app on the ATV 2 is pretty good, there are a few things that are really frustrating. Here are three things I feel are essential to make the ATV 2 the best Netflix player (allowing me to sit back and just use the ATV 2 to browse and find titles to watch without needing to have a computer on hand):
    1. Add the ability to view and browse ALL titles for a specific genre (for some reason, some streaming titles show up online but not on ATV 2 when browsing through - the only way to find these titles is to do a search).
    2. Like in the web version of Netflix when viewing all titles in a certain category, allow sorting by title, rating and release date (this would also be nice when browsing what's available in iTunes by the way). Right now, I can't figure out how things are sorted (seems random to me). The easiest way for me to find movies I want to watch is to be able to view all titles under a genre and then sort in different ways. I can't do that on ATV 2 currently, so hopefully it will be added.
    3. Show a pop-up overview of rating, release date and small description when highlighting a title. Again, this is a feature on the Netflix site that is really nice and helps when browsing through trying to find a movie I want watch. It is much quicker than having to click on a title to see details, and then go back to browsing.
Here are a two other minor things that would be nice to have as well:
    4. Show which titles are in HD and confirm when there is enough bandwidth for HD quality when starting the playback. My blu-ray player does this - first letting me know a title is available in HD and confirming that it was able to stream in HD once started. I know this is a minor request and you can tell by the quality if it is HD once it starts, but I think it would be a nice feature.
    5. Please indicate episodes of series that have already been watched (my blu-ray player does this and it's nice). Again, this isn't a major issue, but would be nice to have.

    In iTunes 8:
Go into your iTunes preferences and select the Devices tab. Make sure "Look for iPhone and iPod Touch Remotes" is selected. If it already is, try clicking "Forget All Remotes"
    In iTunes 7:
Go into your iTunes preferences and select the Advanced tab. Select the General tab beneath it, and make sure "Look for iPhone and iPod Touch Remotes" is selected. If it already is, try clicking "Forget All Remotes"
You also want to be sure that both devices (the computer and the iPod) are connected to the same wireless network.

  • XBR55X850C Netflix App does not support DD surround sound

I have a new Sony XBR55X850C 4K TV connected to a new Sony STRDN860 AV receiver. I downloaded and installed the most recent software update for the Sony TV which included Netflix support. However, when I go into the native Netflix app for the TV and select a program to watch my audio option is limited to a 2 channel stereo signal, even though I know that the program comes with 5.1 DD surround sound audio, which I have confirmed using Netflix apps in other devices that I own that are also connected to the AV receiver. This stereo audio limitation is also present in the native Amazon and YouTube apps for the TV. It is not present in the native Vudu app, which does transmit 5.1 channel surround sound audio to my AV receiver. This, plus the fact that multiple other owners of 850C model TVs have all reported the same audio limitation in the AVS forum, suggests that this is a bug in the Sony (Android TV) software and not a defect in everyone's TV. What needs to be done to get this issue resolved? It doesn't make any sense to have to listen to suboptimal audio just to be able to appreciate 4K video.

    Hello JerryB01,
Greetings and thank you for sharing your experience with the XBR55X850C 4K television and A/V receiver  STRDN860, we would like to apologize for the inconvenience regarding the audio options available when using a video application. Our engineering department is aware of this issue and is currently working on a solution to address it and be able to enjoy a Dolby Digital surround sound quality with your receiver, we will be posting updated information as soon as is available.
    Thank you for your patience.

  • Netflix App still says "incorrect email or password"

After a couple of months of multiple restarts and reinstalling. I'm at a loss for what to do. I have an iPhone 4. If you know what to do or have any trouble shooting methods, please let me know.

I Talked with Netflix.   The tech told me they are aware with the issue with the app and we narrowed it down to special characters in my password.  Somehow, with the latest Netflix app update, the Netflix app does not like special characters in the password.  I temporarily changed my netflix password to one without special characters and was able to sign in to the netflix app.  The Netflix tech says they are working with Apple to resolve the issue.  Hope this helps.

  • Need help getting my netflix app to play on TV

I recently purchased a rocketfish component AV cable so I can watch videos from my iphone on my TV, but no luck. I conected the cable(correctly, I checked), and the most I get from my youtube app is audio and scrambled lines. From my netflix app, which is mainly why I wanted to do this, the most I get is audio. No video, but the video still plays on my iphone screen. Where as in my youtube app the iphone screen displays saying the video is playing on my TV. In reading some older posts, I suspect I may have 2 issues but haven't gotten a difinative solution. As far as what I'm getting from the youtube app I suspect the cable may be faulty. For the netflix what I had seen on other posts there was talk of glitches and needing updates, new versions being incompatable, even talk of conspiracy theories, but really I'm sure by now this issue has to have been resolved, I just can't find an answer as to how. Anyone have any solution. Do I need an update, a different cable???

Does OS X use ';' as a separator like windows, or does it use ':' like UNIX. that might be the problem.

  • Streaming Netflix app on an older iPod Touch?

    Hi all you iPod gurus,
I've got an iPod Touch 2g running iOS 4.2.1.  I've been running the Netflix streaming app without major issues for a couple of years (version 1.4.0, build 930547).  In the last couple of weeks, it has just quit working.  I open the app and it goes to a gray screen after a few seconds.  I've deleted the app and restored it from a backup version, I've restored the entire iPod.  No change.  Any suggestions?  Has anyone had a similar issue?
Some additional information:  I tried the same version of the Netflix app on my son's newer iPod Touch with the same result.  Then I updated the app on that iPod to the latest version and that newer version worked fine.  This leads me to believe that the problem could be an issue between the older version of the app and the Netflix servers.  But updating the app is not an option for me; the newest Netflix app requires iOS 5, which my iPod does not support.  I'm a little bit frustrated, and I'm wondering if it's just my iPod or a more general issue.
Any help would be appreciated.  Even a simple, "I've got an iPod Touch 2g and my Netflix app runs fine" would be helpful.  Thanks much.
    Steve

    Devground,
I have a second gen ipod touch with ios 4.2.1 and am able to watch netflix (version 2.2.1, 9/21/12, 8.3 MB) on it as of today, December 1, 2012. I don't know if it's stable, but it's running right now. I recently had difficulties with the app when I tried to upgrade to the version that requires ios 5. Though I hadn't used it in a while, so I don't know if it was the attempted upgrade that caused my trouble.
I also don't know what ultimately fixed my problem and don't recall exact symptoms as it took a while to troubleshoot (slow os on this hardware) and attempted many things. However, I made sure that if I even had the new Netflix app that it did not overwrite the 2.2.1 version in itunes. I backed up 2.2.1 just in case.
Then, I deleted the old version from the ipod and reloaded it through itunes. It took a couple of times of doing this, disconnecting and power cycling the ipod before i was able to successfully login again.
Not sure what even did it in the end. After doing all the uncertain steps above and all but giving up, I read lllaass's comment on another post that suggested syncing, which I did after the uncertain steps above, and it finally worked. Unfortunately, I can't really answer specific questions on the method I used, but I'm sure that other 2nd gen users can confirm that they are also still able to use Netflix on their touch.
I hope this makes some sense - sorry it's so vague on details.
Good luck. And thanks lllaass, I guess!

  • Netflix app for ipod touch not working - gray screen

I downloaded the netflix app today, but when I open the program it loads the netflix welcome screen then the screen goes gray and nothing happens. How do I get netflix to work on my 2nd generation ipod touch? I am running iOS4.

A friend from work came up with this, but I forgot to ask him how he came across it. I think his Ipad was working then stopped and he didn't change anything and figured out the time was off.
If most people are having a time issue it makes sense that mostly ipod touchs' are affected, since the iphone should sync its time via cellular magic and the touchs' don't do this.
I guess the netflix app is doing some sort of authentication and the time being off causes it issues.
Glad someone found this information to be useful, pass it along.

  • Netflix app wont sign in

My netflix app went dead on my Lumina 1520 three days ago.  The progress bar just loads and loads, but I never get signed in.  I uninstalled the app, restarted my phone, then reloaded the app - no luck.  I tried to go to the netflix.com web site on my phone browser, but I get a security certificate warning page.  When I click "continue to website," I keep getting the same warning.
It does not matter if I'm on my home network or cell, I get the same trouble.  Other devices and phones can load Netflix just fine - it is only my Lumina 1520 that is having trouble.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Aaron,
I've not had a chance to look in to this for some time. I have just updated the Company Portal app to version 1.2 and unfortunately still have exactly the same issue.
I can get the device enrolled by going to manage.microsoft.com in safari and logging in through there but the app still requires the sign in.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any ideas?
    Update:
Interestingly, i have just tried the Android app and after entering my email address and the redirection started i got a 401: Access Denied error.
Both devices were connected to our internal Wi-Fi. When tuning off Wi-Fi and using data the redirection worked taking me to the ADFS login screen. Seems a bit strange but can only assume that it is something to do with how the sts site is being published
    internally as opposed to internally.

  • Can I run the Netflix app on a 1st generation Ipod Touch running 3.1.3?

I have a 1st generation ipod touch running ios 3.1.3. I want to run netflix on it but when I try to install from itunes I get the message "The app "Netflix" was not installed on the IPOD because it requires a newer version of IPOD software." I have read from goggling this issue that netflix streaming on the 1st gen ipod is possible. What am I doing wrong? Or is this not possible at all?

"The "reason" that Netflix will not work with iOS 3.1.3 is because Netflix does so much that iOS 3.1.3 cannot handle it. SImple."
This is untrue, as was stated earlier:
I was running netflix on an itouch first generation ios 3.1.3 untill the glich with the app store.  The newest update will not run on it now and I lost the original version when I reset the Itouch thinking the problem was on my end.
If you had said it's "incompatible" instead of "cannot handle it" or specified the version of the Netflix, perhaps the new Netflix app is so incredible, or rather it "does so much" MORE, you might be within the realm of having some useful input, but the following:
    It would appear so!
leads me to understand you don't know what you're talking about or you're a wannabe company man and just lying.
If anyone else has useful information regarding running the Netflix app that certainly worked for us Netflix subscribers who are also 1g owners–and there are at least thousands, if not tens of thousands–and were using the app before we upgraded to 3.1.3 or restored and downloaded the latest Netflix app, it'd be great to hear from them.  1. 2. 3. SImple.

  • What's Up with the Netflix App on Apple TV?

Am I the only one who absolutely hates the Netflix app on the Apple TV?
I mean don't get me wrong, I love Air Play, my iTunes Library and the way the Apple TV just completes my ecosystem... but I HATE the netflix app on the Apple TV.
My only solution to this problem right now has been to just use my laptop, hook up air play, and use the Netflix.com's system... But that's really not a good fix is it? I mean both the PS3 and XBOX360 have a legit, easy-to-use interface.. but the Apple TV's just feels stale...
I've repeatedly gotten lost in the navigation of it all. The controls aren't exactly confusing.. but they're surely not "intuitive." I guess I just expected more out of an Apple App.
Am I the only one who feels this way?

I much prefer the ATV app. What is it that you have issues with?

  • Having problems downloading the Netflix app from App Store

I am currently using my computer but I could not download the Netflix App from the App Store, and it also asked me for a service code to initiate the download what is service code?

Thanks R.W.R but what I was saying was that I did get 10.10.3 installed using the standalone download instead of the app store. Because I tried using the app store several times to do the update, I know have 10.10.3 showing up five times in the updated in the last 30 days section. I guess after 30 days it will go away, I just didn't know if there was a way to clear some of the duplicates out before then.
On the bright side, the 10.10.3 seems to have fixed the folder action issue. I can now use folder actions again which I really missed. I compared the folder action plist now with the older plist and noticed they are handling the folder actions differently now. They are now using osa scripts and dispatcher ticks to run the action. So far it seems to be behaving itself and not trying to gobble up all the memory in the system.

  • How do I find, download, and install an older version of the Netflix app?

I was using the Netflix app when it froze up trying to start playing an episode of a TV show. Rebooting my iPhone 5 didn't unfreeze it, so I deleted the app. When I went into the App Store to download it again, it said I had to update to iOS 7.0 or higher in order to download the Netflix app. In the past, the App Store has given me the option to download an older version of the app and this has always fixed any problems I have had with it. Next, I tried logging into iTunes on my laptop (I'm working in Windows, in case that makes a difference) to see if it would give me the option to download an older version of the Netflix app there, but that didn't work either. Finally, I called Netflix's customer support help desk line, but they told me they have no app link to send me and no control over which old editions Apple chooses to offer in the App Store, and that my best bet was to go ask you fine folks if you have any possible solutions.
(The reason I can't simply upgrade from my current setting of iOS 6.1.4 is that when Apple released iOS 7.0, even with adjustments to the color contrast, the reduced motion feature enabled, and sunglasses on, using my iPhone 5 for more than 5 minutes at a time gave me projectile-vomit-inducing migraines that lasted 24 hours each time. I'm disabled so I use my iPhone for pretty much everything, though I would say about 95% of my usage time is watching movies and TV shows on apps like Netflix for entertainment -- distraction is a huge part of my pain control plan, because so few medications help me -- because it's more convenient than using my laptop in bed, both in terms of distance to available power outlets and in terms of how I'm able to position my disabled body most comfortably. So I'm not just being a stupid stubborn girl here, I just couldn't make iOS 7.0 work for my disabled body and I don't currently have the financial resources to trade my iPhone 5 in and go buy an Android smartphone that does work for me...though I'm increasingly suspicious that this may be my only option.)
I tried downloading older Netflix apps compatible with iOS 6.1.4 in various public forums online as one of my friends recommended, but when I moved the old Netflix app into my iTunes Library, it kept asking me for the password of the original iTunes account that downloaded the app in order to access it and sync it to my iPhone 5. And I haven't been lucky, no one has been using their username or "password" as the password. I have yet to find a download link offer the username/password combo in the details for new downloaders, so if any of you have an old version of the Netflix app that's compatible with iOS 6.1.4 and want to share your username/password combo with me (after which you should change your password for safety, obviously), I couldn't possibly be more grateful.

Have you rendered both iOS 7 and iOS 8 (both of which will work on your iPhone 5) out of the question entirely without trying every possible configuration? The animations can be disabled entirely, if that's the problem. And if the whiter-brighter user interface is the problem, there's reverse-contrast modes that darken everything. You can expose accessibility controls to gain immediate access to these functions to toggle them on and off. I guess my point is you may have decided against upgrading the OS based on an early experience with iOS 7 when Apple has since made changes in later revisions to address some of the usability complaints.
Now, Apple's instructions for downloading older versions of apps is to do so from the Purchased list, not from the app's product page.
    See here:
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support
Let us know how that works for you.

  • How can I use the Netflix app on my iPad while traveling outside the US?

Is there any way to use the Netflix app on my iPad while traveling out of the country? I am curently in Russia. I downloaded software to mask my IP address on my laptop. Is this possible for the iPad?

There's no way to mask or hide an IP address on an iPad that I am aware of. As to using Netflix from outside of your country, ask Netflix about that.
