NetRestore not showing up on wiped iMac.

I am trying to install OS 10.6 to an iMac whose HD has recently been zeroed via NetRestore. When I hold down the option key during startup, however, the network startup option fails to show up. However, the NetRestore option DOES show up when I boot the computer from an external HD or install CD and go into startup disk. Why is this? I have 30 wiped computers to reinstall the OS on, and only one external HD, and I would rather not have to use the external HD on every single on for the sole purpose of choosing network startup.
EDIT:
• The option to NetRestore does not show up on startup on computers that haven't been zeroed, either.
• With an install CD or External HD connected, when I hold the option key on startup, the network startup icon shows up, fades in and out, then disappears.
• Also tried using the install CD and selecting the image from Startup Disk, then rebooting, but it ultimately just boots back into the install CD.

I found a few documented troubleshooting steps for when your iPhone doesn't appear on your Mac:
Ensure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Install software updates on your Mac.
Note: If an iTunes update is available, apply the update.http://apple.com/itunes/download
Check USB connections. iOS devices require USB 2.0 to function properly. If you're not sure your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, refer to the computer's specifications.
Disconnect other USB devices and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
Restart your Mac.

External hard drive not showing up on my iMac

I am pretty new to the world of Mac but am trying to get used to it. Just bought a iMac desk top and tried connecting my external hard drive via USB to get my photos etc off so i can play with them on iphoto but i dont see it anywhere? Kids have plugged in usbs and they dont pop up like they used to on our old laptop. Why is this or am i simply not seeing them somewhere ???? It did pop up and ask me if i wanted to use this device as my time machine thingy and i said yes, dont really know why, but did i mess something up by doing that ??

If the drive held your only copies of those files, then it wasn't a backup. You will inevitably lose any data that isn't backed up.
There is no built-in tool to recover deleted files. Third-party software for that purpose does exist, but I have no experience with it, because I've always backed up my data. If the drive was formatted for Windows before you erased it, you might have better luck with Windows recovery software. Your best chance of success is to send the drive to a professional recovery service such as DriveSavers, but that will be very expensive.

How can I get video clips dated 12/29/10 and later do not show in view screen. (iMac 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo w/OSX 10.6.8)

Pre 12/29/10 clips show fine in viewer window but anything more recent does not. Consequently, I don't have any way to work with them. I'm still on iMovie '08. Would upgrading to '11 help? My video clips were entered into iPhoto from a Canon still camera with the ability to take one minute video. The video format is labeled MVI (#) AVI in iPhoto. None of the video clips run in iPhoto but they all run on my 1st generation iPad!
Can anyone help me with this problem? I'd like to do a movie of my grandson as well as our new puppy.

You are only running on 2GB of RAM. IMHO 4GB woud be the minimum to realistically run Mavericks on, although the more the better.

External drive not showing up properly On iMac

It no longer shows up in the list like the other one in the double enclosure does. I can see it with DU but cannot verify or repair b/c choices are grayed out. Smart says it is read only. How do I get data off of it, as it seems to be on its last leg?

If the external HD has failed or is failing then you may be too late. You can attempt to repair it in Disk Utiltiy but I'm not sure that will work and you can also attempt a SMC reset which may or may not work depending on the condition of the drive.
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
Wait 15 seconds.
Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM RESET
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

Sent mail from iPad not showing on imac

Hi Everyone..I am going to try to explain my situation.
I send email from my ipad , but I can't find it in my sent email on my imac.
The email definately sends and receives.
But I can't find it!!!!!!
Is there some setting that needs to make everything show up on the imac mai.

If I sent emails from my imac - the emails are in my sent file just fine
If I send emails from my ipad - they are in my sent file on my ipad, but do not show anywhere on my imac,
I know for sure they are going out as I send them from my ipad to myself to my gmail acct. I receive it, and I see it on my ipad. BUT it does not show in my macmail anywhere on my imac.
If I do the same test from gmail, it works fine. Meaning if I send from my ipad to my other email then I can see the mail sent from gmail on my ipad.
BUT the imap from my other service is not showing on my mac.

External HD not showing after Migration to Yosemite on New iMac

Morning All,
Just upgraded my wife's 8YO iMac using Migration Assistant.
Fixed the Hang Problem that occurred with that, but now the external media drive, with our family iTunes Library refuses to mount on the new computer. Mounts perfectly on my MacBook Air but does not show up on the iMac at all, not in Finder, not in Disk utility and not using any of the Terminal Window searches that I found. ,
Please help as my boys will get frustrated if they can't access their movies on Apple TV and there is a week of school holidays to go

All day events not showing up in iCal

On my iMac I cannot enter an all day event in iCal. All day events entered via my iPhone or Mobile Me also do not show up on the iMac. Just upgraded to Lion, no problem before this!

Apple TV not showing up in device list

I just got a new iMac and had everything trasfer over to it from my old MacMini. Now Apple TV will not show up in the iMac's iTunes' device list.

Audiobooks not showing up

I downloaded an audiobook from iTunes on my Verizon iPhone 4 with iOS 7.0.3. I can not find the audiobook in the iTunes library on my phone. It only appears when I perform a Spotlight search on the phone. Additionally, the book does not show up on my iMac (not even with the iCloud emblem next to it) and I have synced several times.
I also cannot see a books button at the top of my iTunes library despite the fact that I have enabled it under preferences. I am begining to think that Apple is slipping. These types of things shouldn't require any work or my enabling something that should have never been disabled in the first place.

Syncing iDevice-purchased items have ALWAYS benn transfered back to the computer this way.
For your audiobook, tap the More button at the bottom to show your audio books.
The contact problem can be related to trying to sync with two end points. Google and iCloud for example. Don;t do it, it can only cause problems.
You might also try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

Have you signed up for iTunes match and let it upload your library? Are you signed in, when you are trying to download from the cloud?

Movie rentals that I downloaded onto iMac with Lion to do not show up on ATV 2 in menu for computers. Purchased movies show up just fine. What to do or look for?

I have an imac that is running lion and an Apple TV generation 2. I have rented a movie from itunes and it shows up on my imac in Itunes under a rental icon, and will play fine on my computer. However, it does not show up as choice to play on my apple tv. I have homesharing enabled and everything else works fine including purchased movies that are on my imac, but no where does it show rental movies.
What do I look for? What do I do to play the rental movie on my apple tv 2?

Answer to my own question:
Wait until the downloaded rental has completed its download to the imac. This took a long time for me, since it was part of several things that I was downloading at the same time.
Finally, it showed up on my apple tv. Interestingly, I was able to watch much of the movie on my iMac before the movie finished its download and was available to the ATV 2.
