Never set a backup password

Does Apple have any plans to help those of us who never set backup encryption passwords clear the encryption so we can backup?  I have no use for iTunes if I can't at least backup my phone.  Apple should never have encrypted the backups without giving those of us with unencrypted backups a way out.
I have tried every password I have ever used for anything on my computer (and some I would never have thought of) and have had no luck.
Thanks

Do you use an exchange account? Depending on the security settings set for your exchange account it will automatically encrypt your phones backup.
You will need to get the password from you exchange account admin.
You would need the server password for the exchange account.

  • HT203790 How do I set a backup password?

How can I set my backup password now, before I discover I haven't and cannot access my info?

I think you mean that your backup has a password, and you don't know what it is. You cannot change the backup password if you don't know the current one; if you could there would be no point in having encrypted backups. You will have to guess the current backup password. It is one that you know and have used in the past, because you entered it. To speed up the process uncheck "Encrypt backup" in iTunes. You will be prompted immediately for the password.
If I misinterpreted your question please set me straight.

  • My I Pod touch....after charging it...asked me for a pass code..I have owned it for 4 years now...I have never set up a Password to turn it on...suddenly It is asking me for one...does anyone know about this problem?...now It is disabled...please help

Cannot open my Ipod touch...never set it up to open with a password...suddenly it is asking for one...Now it is disabled, can anyone help...??

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.

  • How do I get rid of keychain popups? I never set a keychain password.

Keychain popups happen CONSTANTLY since I got back from the Apple store when a manufacturer error required a hard drive replacement. I can't sign in to iMessage - although my password works to log me in to the computer, I get a keychain message immediately when trying to log in to iMessage. I get keychain messages almost continually through the day - 50x/day approximately. They vary in what they say.
One of the many says "A keychain cannot be found to store registration v1". There are several other messages which I can't remember. I have tried a few of the ways recommended here. Oops, another one just popped up.
Here is the sequence: "A keychain cannot be found to store KADiAdIDStorageKey."
When I click "Reset to Defaults", it asks if I'm sure about that.
I hit "Reset" get another popup:
"Please enter your login password. This will be used to create your new keychain."
I enter my Apple ID password and hit OK.
Now a new popup appears: "iTunes wants to use the "local items" keychain". Enter password.
I enter my Apple ID password and it wiggles (wrong password).
I have to hit cancel to make it go away.
It pops up, or "Mail wants to use the "local oems" keychain" pops up. I have to continually hit "cancel" all day long to stop these things.
PLEASE HELP ME!!! I never set up a keychain password, don't know what it is, don't want it, don't need added security, never had this problem for the first year that I owned this thing.
    Thank you.

It doesn't want your Apple ID password. It wants your computer's admin account password that you use to log into the computer.
    Tutorial: Resolving Keychain Issues
If you can't access your keychain, or forget your password If you can't get into your keychain file because you've forgotten your password or the keychain file appears to be corrupt, there are a couple of options.
First, if you've forgotten your password, you can use the "Keychain First Aid" utility to make the keychain password the same as the login password. This can be accomplished via the following process:
      1. Open Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Preferences"
      3. Click the "First Aid" tab
      4. Make sure the "Synchronize login keychain password" box is checked
      5. Close the Preferences window
      6. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Keychain First Aid"
      7. Enter your username and password
      8. Click the "Repair" button
The second option is to completely delete your keychain then recreate it. This routine is useful if your keychain appears to be corrupt or otherwise inaccessible. This can be accomplished as follows:
      1. Launch Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Click "Show Keychains" in the lower-left corner of the window.
      3. Select the problematic keychain from the left-hand pane.
      4. Navigate to the "File" menu and select "Delete Keychain '(name of keychain)'"
      5. Check all options for deletion and press "OK"
      6. Create a new keychain by going to the "File" menu, then "New" and selecting
          "New Keychain"
      7. You can now make this keychain your default if you desire by selecting it, then
going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make '(name of keychain)' Default"
Login as root and perform repair In some cases, problems with keychains can only be resolved when logged in as the root user.
First, you want to enable the root user:
      1. OS X Mountain Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      2. OS X Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      3. Mac OS X 10.6: Enabling the root user
      4. Enabling and using the "root" user in Mac OS X
After enabling the root user, and logging in under this account, again open Keychain Access. First attempt repairs using Keychain First Aid, and failing that, delete then recreate the keychain as described above while logged in as root.
Persistently asked for stored passwords If you are persistently asked for passwords in various applications that you have specified should be remembered in a keychain, your "login" keychain may not be active for one reason or another.
Navigate to ~/Library/Keychains/ (this is the Library folder inside your user's home folder). Find the file named "login.keychain" and double-click it.
Failing that, select the "login" keychain within the Keychain Access application and make sure it is the default keychain by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make 'Login' Default"
Turn off Keychain synchronization in applications having problems If specific applications are experiencing issues when accessing password-protected material, the Keychain may be to blame.
The above comes from an article published on MacFixit.com.

Not possible.  Someone with access to the device enabled a restrictions passcode.  Never has the iOS generated one all on its own.  It just doesn't happen.

  • I never set a firmware password?

I have a late 2013 MBP Retina 13' that says it needs a "firmware" password to open recovery mode even though I never set one , I had to get my MBP

You may need to take it to an Apple Store or authorized service provider if you can't guess the password.

  • IPhone 4s keeps asking for password for voicemail. this is a replacement, and I never set up a password before, and don't want to

I took my iPhone 4s that I got for Mothers day of this year to the Apple store, because it would not activate after I restored it. So I have this new phone, did a restore from backup, and all is good. Except it keeps asking me for a password for my voicemail. Even if I am not in voicemail. Never had that problem before, and I did not set one up in my other phone, and do not want to set it up in this one. I tap on cancel and it goes away. But these little things really really bother me. I even have an issue with the iTunes Apple store asking me for my password every time I want to update. Sorry, it just bugs me. I can understand if I am buying something, but updates? And free apps? Anyway, if I have to I will keep tapping Cancel, but I never had an issue with my last iPhone 4s. Thank you.

  • I ve never set up master Password ; was going to set one but it says to give current passwor and put new?

I wanted to create a master password but it saks me for current and I never put one?
Why does it do that? I cant put a password. Will I have to uninstall? and re install?
    sergio,
    will appreciate a response

See [[Forgot my master password]] and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Master_password
If using the chrome url (chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul) doesn't work then delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/key3.db key3.db] and signons.sqlite (Firefox 3.5) and all signons#.txt files (if any exist, Firefox 3.0 uses signons3.txt) in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile_Folder].
You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting [http://kb.mozillazine.org/key3.db key3.db] and you lose all your currently saved passwords.

  • Backup requests a password .... which password i should enter ?? and i didn't set up backup passwords

please hep me ..... there is alot of important things in that backup

The iMac may have had Mountain Lion installed, but if that was not its originally installed operating system you will not be able to reinstall it without the Apple ID and password used to purchase it. OS X upgrades purchased from the Mac App Store cannot be sold or transferred to any other Apple ID.
I presume the eBay seller did not also sell his or her Apple ID along with the iMac?
Start your iMac as Ralph Landry1 wrote, but add an option key to the ⌘ (command) and R keys when you start the iMac. In other words, with three fingers hold the ⌘, option, and R keys while you start the iMac with a fourth finger.
You will then see a grey "spinning globe" icon as the iMac downloads OS X from Apple's servers, after which you can release your three fingers. An Internet connection (wireless or Ethernet) will be required. After that, erase the internal disc by selecting Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities screen. Then, you will be able to install OS X and set up the iMac as your own.
If at any point during the above you are still asked for an Apple ID that you do not own, you will be unable to proceed without the iMac's original grey System Install DVD. If the seller did not include that, contact him and demand he send it forthwith.
