New BADI Implementation

Hello,
I need help with implementations for new BADIs. I'm trying to implement BADI PT_ABS_REQ which has about 15 methods. I want my custom logic called for only one of these methods and want SAP standard logic to be called for all other methods. Is this possible? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Steps:
1. Execute Business Add-In(BADI) transaction SE18
2. Enter BADI name i.e. PT_ABS_REQ and press the display
 button
3. Select menu option Implementation->Create
4. Give implementation a name such as Z_PT_ABS_REQ
5. You can now make any changes you require to the BADI within this
 implementation, for example choose the Interface tab
6. Double click on the method you want to change, you can now enter
 any code you require.
7. Please note to find out what import and export parameters a
 method has got return the original BADI definition
 (i.e. PT_ABS_REQ) and double click on the method name
 for example within PT_ABS_REQ contract is a method
8. When changes have been made activate the implementation

Extending BADI Implementation class

Hello,
I extended a class C1 implementing my BADI interface I1 obtaining class C2.
I redefined a interface I1 method method in C2.
I created a new BADI implementation for my class C2.
However, for this new BADI implementation the BADI builder does not show the interface methods from I1 for my implementation class c2?
Is it not possible to extend a BADI implementation class and use it as a new implementation?
If so, why?

I might not have made my question clear enaugh:
I have created a BADI definition D1. There I de-activated option "multiple use' in the usability options.
1) I have a BADI Interface I1 for D1 and a standard Implementation of this interface for which I use class C1.
2) I need a second BADI implementaion in which I only want to redefine one method M1 of class C1.
3) I created a class C2 which has class C1 as superclass and redefined method M1.
4) I created a second BADI implementation for which I specified class C2 as implementation class.
As C2 extends C1 which implements the BADI interface I1 everything went fine in the BADI builder for this second implementation.
The BADI builder seems to be buggy there, as it would not display the business methods of the interface I1, and this really confused me.
However, I have now tested my second implementation and it works!

Popup from BADI implementation

Hi All,
I need to do some processing when an action profile is called from an activity. I am writing a new badi implementation for this. I have associated the same to the action profile.
Now, depending upon some data of activity, I need to show a popup to the user, to collect some more information. Based upon the information entered by the user, I have to call another program by supplying the gathered information.
Any idea how to achieve this? Calling a popup from method, which should return the gathered data?

Popup function would not have helped, as I needed to capture detailed inputs from the user.

I resolved the issue by creating a new function module & creating a new popup screen within the same function group. I used call screen to show the popup, collect inputs from the user & processing those inputs further in the function module.

Differences Between Classic and New BAdIs
Classic and new BAdIs differ in a number of features that are important for migration:
1. BAdI object
a. With classic BAdIs, a BAdI object is created by calling a factory method, and referenced via a reference variable of the type of the BAdI interface.
b. With new BAdIs, a BAdI object is created via the ABAP statement GET BADIas a handle for the calls of BAdI methods, and referenced via a reference variable of the type of the BAdI. A BAdI object is an instance of an internal BAdI class, which otherwise is invisible to the outside.
2. Passing comparison values for the filter
a. With the classical BAdIs, the filter values are stored in a structure and passed with the call of the BAdI methods.
b. With the new BAdIs, the comparison values for the filters used to search for implementations are passed when the BAdI object is created with the GET BADIstatement.
There is no way of migrating the call of the factory method one-to-one into the ABAP statement, because GET BADI can also return an existing BAdI object, which is not possible with the factory method.
3. Calling BAdI methods
Passing comparison values for the filter
a. A classic BAdI can be called only once and the call positions are registered centrally.
b. With new BAdIs, multiple calls are possible and the call positions are not registered centrally.
For the above reasons, an automatic call migration is not possible.

De-activate standard implementation for New BADI ES_FIN_EBPP_MAIL_PUT_DATA

Hi All,
I have a requirement where i need to deactivate the standard implementation for the New BADI 'ES_FIN_EBPP_MAIL_PUT_DATA'
and activate my Z-Implementation. I have been able to activate the Z-implementation (i.e. by checking the checkbox Default implementation it allows me to activate the Z-implementation).
Also, the BADI ES_FIN_EBPP_MAIL_PUT_DATA is a single use BADI, so technically multiple implementations should not be possible. bus somehow it has allowed me to activate my Z-Implementation along with the standard implementation being active.
But the problem is although the Z-implementation is active, as the standard implementation is also active, the standard implementation overwrites the Z-implementation, therefore my code is never executed.
Please advise on how to deactivate the standard implementation and implement the Z-Implementation.

cl_def_im_address_subscreen is only a sap default class that you can use for creating your own implementation. If you want to see the existing implementations, transaction SE18, enter Classic BAdI ADDRESS_SUBSCREEN and click menu enhancement implementation, overview. Check if the existing implementation corresponds to a custom implementation (then you can modify it), or to a sap or partner product (then you can't modify it, or you can use the enhancement framework to enhance it).

Sending Email using cl_bcs from a badi implementation

Hi,
I have written my code to send Email, inside AFTER_SAVE method of BADI Implementation of DOCUMENT_MAIN01.
Now this method of cl_bcs requires COMMIT WORK for the mail to be sent. And inside BADI implementation, we cannot write a COMMIT statement.
What is a workaround for this? While going through few other posts, I came across remote enabled FMs.
Is that the only way? Can I use some additions like STARTING NEW TASK etc. Following is the call used in case of cl_bcs:
   CALL METHOD G_REF_SEND_REQUEST->SEND(
          EXPORTING
            I_WITH_ERROR_SCREEN = 'X'

New BADI concept in ECC 6.0

I am trying to gain an understanding of how I would implement one of the new BADIs in ECC 6.0 (badis implmented through and enhancement spot , get badi, call badi concept).
I am not looking for information on how to implement a classic badi through se18/se19.
I have also ready through the SAP help on the new badis and it is still not clear to me. So, please do not provide links to the standard SAP help. I have that.
I am wondering if anybody has a whitepaper, example, etc. that explains the details of how to implement, use, trigger the new badis linked to an enhancement spot.

Enhancement spots are components of a tree structure hierarchy, of which the branches represent composite enhancement spots and the leaves are simple enhancement spots. Implicitly available enhancement options do not have any enhancement spots.

Definition

This structuring is mirrored on the implementation side through the enhancement implementations. A BAdI can be implemented by several BAdI implementations that are managed by enhancement implementations. A simple enhancement implementation for object plug-ins can contain several BAdI implementations of an enhancement spot as enhancement implementation elements and can implement a BAdI multiple times. Therefore, several enhancement implementations can be assigned to one enhancement spot.
A BAdI is always assigned to the same package, like the enhancement spot, to which it belongs.
Example
The structuring features of BAdIs in enhancement spots can be of a technical or a subject nature.
If, in the definition of several BAdIs, you have the provision that they are to be used in the same context (this is a feature known only by the person who defines the BAdIs), they must be used by the same simple enhancement spot.
From a subject point of view, all BAdIs must then be grouped together by affiliation to functional units for example, payroll in combined enhancement spots.

Badi implementation in ECC 6 version using Enhancement spot

Hi,
I've to create an implementation for an already existing BADI in ECC 6.0 version.The interface method of the badi is getting called in main program in a standard include.Is it possible to create that using New badi Enhancement spot option in se19? If so where should i create the enhancement point because when i'm trying to create implementation i'm getting the message Enhancement point zbadi_le_shipment does not exist .

Implementing Business Add-Ins (BADI)
The use of object orientated code within SAP has lead to new method of enhancing standard SAP code called
Business Add-Ins or BADI's for short. Although the implementation concept is based on classes, methods and
inheritance you do not really have to understand this fully to implement a BADI. Simply think of methods
as a function module with the same import and export parameters and follow the simple instructions below.
Steps:
1. Execute Business Add-In(BADI) transaction SE18
2. Enter BADI name i.e.badi_le_shipment and press the display
button
3. Select menu option Implementation->Create
4. Give implementation a name such as Zbadi_le_shipment
5. You can now make any changes you require to the BADI within this

BADI implementation in ECC 6.0

I want to put a validation when changing business partner details using tcode BP but it seems there no user exists but BADIs but the BADIs that i am getting i think can only be used after the update has taken place. i have BADI ADDRESS_UPDATE and i need to know ho i can implement it in ECC 6.0. I tried SE18 but its saying "Create" operation is possible only for enhancement spots. how best can implement it

Hi Willard,
Identify ur enhancement spot. Go to SE18, give the enhancement spot name and display.
You can see your BADI in that spot. Click on the button 'Implement Enhancement Spot (F6)'.
Give a name for your enhancement implementation, select ur badi to be implemented in that spot. Give proper name to ur badi implementation.You can now put ur code in that implementation.

BADI Implementation

Hi all,
In Transaction ME21N, there is a field 'OUR REFERENCE' in the Communication Tab. Now, we need to track the value entered and perform some ztable updation. I couldnt find a user-exit for the same but someone told me to implement a BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST. I created a new BADI in SE19 and put the BADI name in the definition. i went inside one of the methods ( POST ) and tried putting the following code there.
if MEPOCOMM-UNSEZ is initial.

but the code is giving syntax error saying the field MEPOCOMM-UNSEZ is unknown. so its not getting activated. the field is the screen field name of the 'Our Reference' in ME21N.
is there something wrong with the interface?? is there somethng to be specified in Import Parameters or something?? I am new to BADIs. So please explain in a simple manner. Also, how to search for the BADI definition for a particular purpose in the first place?? I would like to know the procedure for how we go about finding the suitable BADI and then implementing it. I have already read the previous threads regarding BADIs.

The erros says symply the data you're using doesn't exist.
The method POST is two parameter, one is IM_HEADER, this parameter has several method to get and set header data.
You have to use these method to read and update the header data.
You should use the method GET_DATA of parameter IM_HEADER of method POST.
So you code should be like following:

EEWB error message BADI implementation

Hi,
I am getting the following error message when I run the wizard in EEWB to create new fields:

I am trying to add new fields in Activities.
This system is a copy of production client. There is no EEWB project or extension created in this system. We are using this system as a sandbox. We wanted to create some new fields here in this system by crating a new project and extension but when I run the wizard to create the new fields it is giving me the above error message at the time of Generation
Anyone has any idea how to resolve this ?

Dear Experts,
I have created a custom BADI definition of multiple use type and one implementation for it n it is working fine but now i want to create multiple implementations for it.
But when im trying to use method of second implementation in my program its raising an error that this method is not defined.
Hope u understand my query.Plz explain me with an example that how to implement multiple use BADI's.

Hi,
You can implement several BADIs based on the same definition if FILTER option or MULTIPLE USE option are active.
In this way you can have (implement) the same method does different actions according to the BADI where it's defined.
So you can use the FILTER to decide which method (BADI) has to work.
If the FILTER isn't active a definition of a BADI can use once, so it can implement only ones.
But if the flag MULTIPLY USE is active it can use the same BADI for several implematations.
In this case every BADIs'll works because there isn't a filter.
So you can implement several actions.

Implementing Business Add-Ins (BADI) 
The use of object orientated code within SAP has lead to new method of enhancing standard SAP code called
Business Add-Ins or BADI's for short. Although the implementation concept is based on classes, methods and
inheritance you do not really have to understand this fully to implement a BADI. Simply think of methods
as a function module with the same import and export parameters and follow the simple instructions below.
Steps:
1. Execute Business Add-In(BADI) transaction SE18
2. Enter BADI name i.e. HRPBSGB_HESA_NISR and press the display
 button
3. Select menu option Implementation->Create
4. Give implementation a name such as Z_HRPBSGB_HESA_NISR
5. You can now make any changes you require to the BADI within this
 implementation, for example choose the Interface tab
6. Double click on the method you want to change, you can now enter
 any code you require.
7. Please note to find out what import and export parameters a
 method has got return the original BADI definition
 (i.e. HRPBSGB_HESA_NISR) and double click on the method name
 for example within HRPBSGB_HESA_NISR contract is a method
8. When changes have been made activate the implementation

We can have multiple implementations for BADI
that property of BADI makes it different from user exits

DEFINING THE BADI
1) execute Tcode SE18.
2) Specify a definition Name : ZBADI_SPFLI
3) Press create
4) Choose the attribute tab. Specify short desc for badi.. and specify the type :
multiple use.
5) Choose the interface tab
6) Specify interface name: ZIF_EX_BADI_SPFLI and save.
7) Dbl clk on interface name to start class builder . specify a method name (name,
level, desc).

8) place the cursor on the method name desc its parameters to define the interface.

I_carrid import spfli-carrid some
I_connid import spefi-connid some
9) save , check and activateadapter class proposed by system is
ZCL_IM_IM_LINESEL is genereated.
IMPLEMENTATION OF BADI DEFINITION
1) EXECUTE tcode se18.choose menuitem create from the implementation menubar.
2) Specify aname for implementation ZIM_LINESEL
3) Specify short desc.
4) Choose interface tab. System proposes a name fo the implementation class.
ZCL_IM_IMLINESEL which is already generarted.
5) Specify short desc for method
6) Dbl clk on method to insert code..(check the code in AAA).
7) Save , check and activate the code.
