New Class definition

For specific usage, I need to add new attributes to standard schema.
Next, in order to mantain compatibility for standard classes, I included these attributes in a new class.
I work on IDS 5.1 SP1 on Solaris 8.
From docs, I know that this modification can be done directly by the Console or through 99user.ldif.
Are theese two approaches equivalent or there are some differences ?
Which is the suggested approach in order to have modification traced both in Console and in 99user.ldif ?
In fact, I noticed that if I add new definition through the Console, everything is ok but I don't see the corresponding new definition in 99user.ldif.
I need to have a trace in 99user.ldif file in order to share information in different instances of IDS.
Is there some further operation to do in order to force writing changes to schema in 99user.ldif ?

The approaches are the same, except that if you modify 99user.ldif with an editor, you must first shutdown the server, edit the file, then restart DS. If you do the schema modifications over LDAP, you do not have to restart the server.
I don't know why the schema changes were not written when you used the console. Try using the command line ldapmodify to add the schema. Also, check the server access and error logs to see if there was some unreported problem with your schema.

    Put Keyboard.class in a directory named cs1 and add the parent of cs1 to your CLASSPATH when you compile and run:

    java.lang.LinkageError: duplicate class definition every time I tried to access a web app that just got a fresh ANT build to the the web server. The error sites the application's primary servlet class. When I bump the server on I-Planet (6.0), the error goes away. I cannot find a duplicate class anywhere, though. I'm stumped.

    I have built an EJB project and am ran them successfully in the embedded OC4J via a standalone java program.
    Now I created another project with ADF capabilities and when I tried to ping the EJB i get the following exception
    The application named, current-workspace-app, could not start due to an error.
    duplicate class definition: javax/faces/context/FacesContextFactory Invalid class: javax.faces.context.FacesContextFactory Loader
    This is happenning due to class conflicts between javaee.jar and trinidad-impl.jar/adf-richclient-impl.jar.
    Is there any way of bypassing this class loader issue?

  • Best practice to handle the class definitions among storage enabled nodes

    We have a common set of cache servers that are shared among various applications. A common problem that we face upon deployment is with the missing class definition newly introduced by one of the application node. Any practical approach / best practices to address this problem?

    Is it the cache servers themselves or your application servers that are having problems with loading classes?
    In order to dynamically add classes (in our case scripts that compile to Java byte code) we are considering to use a class loader that picks up classes from a coherence cache. I am however not so sure how/if this would work for the cache servers themselves if that is your problem!?
    Anyhow a simplistic cache class loader may look something like this:

  • Flash.utils.getDefinitionByName vs. ApplicationDomain's class definition methods?

    What's the difference between these two method groups in terms of the set of classes they work with (i.e. ApplicationDomain's class definition set vs the set of class definitions getDefinitionByName uses)?
    ApplicationDomain. getDefinition / hasDefinition / getQualifiedDefinitionNames (Flash Player 11.3+ only, appears to be undocumented?)
    getDefinitionByName
    It's clear that there's an application domain hierarchy and that definitions may be visible in some app domains and not others.  For example, would ApplicationDomain.getDefinition return a definition that is not defined in the given app domain but is accessible from it? (e.g. if the domain is a child domain and we're looking up a definition defined in the parent?)  The documentation for ApplicationDomain just says "Loaded classes are defined only when their parent doesn't already define them." but it also says "(ApplicationDomains) allow multiple definitions of the same class to exist and allow children to reuse parent definitions."
    The documentation also indicates that getDefinitionByName returns class definitions, whereas ApplicationDomain.getDefinition will return namespace and function definitions in addition to class definitions.
    Assuming I'm only interested in class definitions, what ApplicationDomains does getDefinitionByName search? (e.g. all domains, the current/caller domain only, or any domains accessible to the caller?)
    This initial test is confusing:

    On the one hand, getQualifiedDefinitionNames reports that only the main timeline class is defined in the current app domain, yet getDefinition returns true for DisplayObject, indicating it reports the existence of definitions in the parent (system) domain, yet the final trace on the grandchild domain contradicts that by returning false.
    ApplicationDomain.currentDomain.parentDomain also returns null, which directly contradicts the following documentation statements: "The system domain contains all application domains, including the current domain..." and "Every application domain, except the system domain, has an associated parent domain. The parent domain of your main application's application domain is the system domain."
    The contradiction is very apparent here, where currentDomain has the definition, but when you create a child domain and access the parent, which should be currentDomain, it suddenly reports that it doesn't contain the definition:

    To answer my own question somewhat...
    This page is quite comprehensive: http://www.senocular.com/flash/tutorials/contentdomains/?page=2 I've managed to solve a couple mysteries, but the basic question outlined above (particularly concerning the scope of getDefinitionByName) still stands.  I just wanted to post an answer for what I was able to resolve.
    Retreiving the parentDomain returns null if the parent is the system domain.  So although the parentDomain is the system domain, the parentDomain property returns null anyway.  That's just the way it is.  Unfortunately, that makes the system domain inaccessible, for example, for class enumeration through getQualifiedDefinitionNames.
    Concerning my initial test, it seems that constructing a new ApplicationDomain creates a dead object until a SWF is actually loaded under that domain.  For example, creating a child domain of the current domain and calling hasDefinition on it will return false, but if you assign that very same instance to a loader context an pass it to Loader.load, once the load completes, you can call hasDefinition on the instance that originally returned false, and it will return true instead.  So you can construct an ApplicationDomain with a parent, but it won't really function until it's being actively used.

    So it would seem that ApplicationDomain.getDefinition does report classes in the parent, grandparent, etc. domains, but it will only do so after the new ApplicationDomain instance has been activated through loading something into it.
    Again, ApplicationDomain instances may refer to the same application domain, but they cannot be directly compared.  For example, (ApplicationDomain.currentDomain == ApplicationDomain.currentDomain) is false.

    Thanks for the reply since I am quite new to BPEl can you elaborate a bit on this .
    What I did was
    1. I created a Async BPEL process in JDeveloper and in the same project I put my servlet code and html part when I deploy it on the server and ascess it the welcome jsp is displayed when I click submit on wecome.jsp it forwards to servlet and there the error originates .
    2 If instead I deploy the BPEl process seperately and the try to access the BPEL process using my JDeveloper java code I don't get any error it works fine.
    3 I have included config and schema folders in source path . wf_client_config.xml,user-properties.xml and wf-config.xml is also present in the source folder.
    4 Along with this the jars needed have been also added.
    So when I deploy the BPEL process created in 1 above from Jdeveloper it creates a .ear in j2ee\home\applications and the deploys it .This .ear doesn't has any .class files .
    I take bpelclasses.jar from the .jar which is created when I compile the project and put it in the j2ee\home\applib folder and made an entry for it in the server.xml file.After this it is able to get .class files.
    If there is any alternate way to do the same thing kindly tell me .

    many people use the two interchangeably, though technically it can mean something different.
    What you get back from a call to newInstance() is the same as what you'd get when using the new keyword and no constructor arguments, a reference to an instance of a class (there are other ways to dynamically create an instance using other constructors).
    "Creating a class object" technically means loading the class which causes a Class instance (so an instance of the class Class) to be created for that particular class, making the class available to the JVM for instantiation of instances.
    newInstance() and its sisters are useful for when the class to be instantiated is not known (or even doesn't exist) when compiling the class that needs to instantiate it.
    This is of course the case with JDBC. The people creating the JVM can't know what driver classes will be out there at some point in the future (and if they did know and have access to all of them in the past it would still be foolish to have them all hardwired into the JVM).

  • Creating New Class Object progmatically

    Instead of uploading an XML for a new type definition, I want to create a new class object progmatically.
    In my code, I basically set up a ClassObjectDefinition, set the attributes, then call createSchemaObject.
    I'm getting an exception saying that I have an invalid or missing option.
    What is the bare minimum needed to create a new Class Object?

    First - you must be admin mode to create any subclasses. Minimally, you need to set:
    - ClassName
    - SuperClass
    - your custom attributes
    If you have created your own java class which is optional, you will need to set:
    - BeanClassPath
    Then there's optional settings such as Description.
    If this doesn't help, is it possible to post your code setting the ClassObject Definition attribute Values (AVs) and the create?
    As a guide, you should set all the AVs that you used to create a subclass via XML.
    Another note - once you create subclass named FOO, you will not be able to create another subclass named FOO.
    Another note (!): by default, iFS will use your class name to create the DBMS table. If you have a particularly long class name which will exceed the DBMS limits for table names, then you will want to set:
    - DatabaseObjectName

  • Create Global Class Definition using Local Class Source Code

    I would like to be able to automate the creation of global class definitions using source code that is defined in a text file (one example: convert a local class def to a global class def).
    Does SAP deliver this functionality?  (I'm already aware of the various classes that can be used to create global classes and how those classes can be implemented in a program to generate new classes.  I'm hoping to avoid having to create a custom solution.)

    It's not a 100% solution - I was hoping to be able to generate global classes/interfaces using source code alone, without requiring user intervention.
    It <i>is</i> however, a 90-95% solution because debugging SE24 reveals that by using a combination of the FM's SCAN_ABAP_OBJECTS_CLASSES & SEO_CLIF_MULTI_IMPORT, I should be able to <u>quickly</u> put together that custom application that I was trying to avoid.
    I knew about the existance of SEO_CLIF_MULTI_IMPORT but I did not know about SCAN_ABAP_OBJECTS_CLASSES.  I'm very happy to learn that I'm not going to have to write a parser!

  • JAXB not generating correct class definition

    I am using JAXB 2.0 and the JAXB plugin for Eclipse 3.x.
    The problem I have is that when I run XJC on my XSD file the class definition for
    a particular class is not what I am expecting. The class only defines 1 get method instead of three. While I am expecting to see getX getY and getZ I am seeing only 1 method getXAndgetYAndgetZ. Here is a snippet of the XSD file:

    LDAPLoginModule uses the jackrabbit UserManagerImpl to create user's in CRX (CQ), not the CQ5 implementation which is disappointing. Have to manually add the sling:resourceType.

  • Help on simple class definition

    This is just the class definition (main() is in its own file, but I was wondering if someone could help me figure out what is wrong w/ the code. I am trying to make a simple program that asks, "what is your name?", than you enter your name, and it says "hello, john, today is feb, 3rd" (or whatever).
    I'm not even sure if the code is right to do what I want to do, but I can't really figure that out if it won't compile.

  • Derive new class from air.File

    Could some kind person show me how to derive a new class from air.File using javascript.  Everything I try seems to be wrong.  Essentially I need a new class called RegattaFile that has some extra properties and methods.
    When an object method to be the callback to a dispatcher - how do you do it?  When I try, the callback function gets called, but it's lost the 'this' context.
    I'm getting reallty confused.

    Most of the runtime classes are final for performance reasons. You generally can't (as far as I know) extend hem in JavaScript using the prototype change.
    The this problem in callbacks and event handlers in JavaScript usually occurs because "this" is evaluated as the calling object rather than the class object. One way to solve the problem is to capture the this variable in another local variable in the class and use that variable in the callback or event handler. Something like:
