New comcast email format

I absolutely HATE the new format of your emails. I can no longer find emails that I haven't deleted as they are embedded in confusing lists with other emails when I include them in forwards. ALSO, because of this, when I try to forward, I'm not always sure that I've not included some of those forwards inappropriately to the person I'm responding to directly. This is because there are now 2 forward options, one at the top of the page, and one again in the embedded email below. This is TERRIBLE. You've made your email service now so very frustrating and confusing that I'm looking to switch to another email service provider. I've been with Comcast for years and this is a good opportunity for me to look for another cable service provider as well. I can't even explain the problem properly for you to fix because it is so confusing.

What were you thinking, Comcast?  The new format is confusing, non-efficient, frustrating and a very bad idea.  I'm wasting a lot of time navigating.  Change it back NOW.

  • New Comcast Email Authentication Glitch under Ios 7

Having a consistent problem sending mail thru my main Comcast account since upgrading to Ios7.
The account sends and recieves fine on my computer under Osx10.8.5.
But my Iphone 5 and Pad under Ios 7.0.1 bothg sporadically show :
"The connection to the server has failed.  The mail server  imap.comcast.net is not responding.  Verify you have entered the correct account info. in the Mail settings."
When I try to send an outgoing message from my main account....it fails.
But when I try sending under a seconday email acount, it's authenticates and sends fine.
I update the IPhone to 7.0.2 and have the same issue.
As usual, I spent 20 minutes on hold to Comcast, got an agent, was put back on hold and ended up being disconnected.
This is NOT an uncounted email/read email issue or an acess issue getting new mail. It's a sporadic outgoing server authentication issue from what I've seen.
Any ideas other than being on hold for another 20 minutes with Comcast and getting disconnected again?
I've also repeatedly tried deleting/resetting the account and it hasn't worked..including multiple resending the accounts' password....which works on the computer fine.

Let's review what needs to be done.
First never assume Comcast support knows anything about Macs.
    Second:
On the Mac assuming you are using imap then launch Mail and look at account type, it should read imap not pop. If it reads pop then you are not using imap.
Your IN server name should be imap.comcast.net    Out smtp.comcast.net
    In port # 993    Out port # 465
Assuming your user name and password is correct then this works and works on all ios devices and syncs imap mail among them all.
Next if you tried to make the changes with Mail launched and you are editing the account prefs of what was there prior then thar will never work.
If so then you'd need to delete the account and start over. Either using internet accounts or Mail prefs account setup. To get to the screen which shows a choice among imap or pop you need to do the intial setup with a false password. Don't use a false email because that will eventually be shown under internet accounts when you complete the task properly.
The false password is important because it make the next setup screen "validating" fail and takes you to the next screen which read manual setup. Here and beyond is where you make your proper entries. Not all but almost all. Once completed launch Mail and check under user account>advanced for the out port # 465. It willn ot be there so sdo a custom and type in 465. The 993 will be there.
Assuming you have archives your old mail to icloud then those will be there also if you signed in to icloud with your Appleid and password.
The above procedure does not fail unless user makes a typo or forgets to change an entry.
    Review your task:
false password>imap.comcast.net>993>465 user mail account name and password  Lastly if you choose to do it thru Mail and not internet accounts make sure you SAVE your entries or they will not take.

  • New .Mac email format

    Comment:
The new implementation of .Mac email is a real step
backwards. It reminds me of the terrible updates that
    MicroSoft likes to impose.
There are no aspects of this system that are intuitive.
Bring back the check boxes! Add some real, effective
spam protection with directions how to use it. This
looks like an update looking for a purpose.
Can I get back the old email display?

This forum is for discussing issues related to the Mail & Address Book applications included with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). If you’re not using Mac OS X’s Mail, but .Mac mail on the web instead, you’re posting in the wrong forum. The right forum for such questions would be .Mac Email On The Web.
Actually, if you just want to let Apple know what you think, you should do that here instead:

  • Current comcast emails are not downloading to iphone and ipad

My IPhone and IPad stopped receiving new comcast emails a few days ago. I deleted the account and added comcast mail again but it only downloads old emails.  Comcast not helpful and said its an issue with Apple. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi ...
    Try resetting the devices.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that didn't help, test on one of the devices.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
If helped on one device, do the same for the other.

  • I change my email my Verizon email to Comcast email.  I am continually asked to give my password for my old email which I deleted.  I have deleted this Verizon email from every area on my iPad that I'm aware of, And yet he still appearing.  How do I solve

I change my email my Verizon email to Comcast email.  I am continually asked to give my password for my old email which I deleted.  I have deleted this Verizon email from every area on my iPad that I'm aware of, And yet he still appearing.  How do I solve this.

What you are describing sounds like you created a new apple id with your new comcast email address. There may be apps on your ipad that are associated with another id that was using your verizon email address. If thats what you're saying then those apps need to be updating by using the apple id that was used when they were downloaded.
If you're talking about something else then maybe a lttle clarification is necessary.
Go to settings/itunes and app stores. make sure the correct apple is shown.
Go to settings/mail, contacts and calendars. Makes sure all of the accounts are current.
Go to settings/icloud, facetime and messages, verify the same.

  • New Email Format

Rather than an idea, this is a plea for help because I was unable to find another place through Online Support to make a complaint.
The changes recently made to the email format (around 1/20/2011) for how to select email contacts when trying to send a message are HORRIBLE.  You can no longer select the email address from a list that contains the contact's actual name.  As I'm sure you are aware, many people don't use their actual names in their email addresses.  They use any combination of initials, numbers, and sometimes names that mean nothing to anyone but themselves.  In 2011, we all have hundreds of email contacts, and just like phone numbers, we don't keep them in our heads, but select them from directories that we pay for through our service contracts.  Since the changes were made, the list to select email addresses is just all mushed together with the email addresses running from one line to the other.  You can’t even see the entire address.  PLEASE go back to giving us a list that contains the person's actual names so we will be able to select contacts.  I am a triple-play customer who also has wireless service, but if some changes aren’t made, I will have to change to another provider.   I will have to cancel it all because since 1/20/2011 (the past 4 days) I have been unable to send several emails because I don’t know people’s email addresses;  I need to see their name beside it.  Today, we all use email, texting, etc. to contact our friends and colleagues.  I’m sure I can’t be the only person who dislikes this or who has complained.  And, it’s not merely a matter of disliking the new way, it is unusable; Verizon is causing me to lose communication with my contacts. Whoever made the decision to change the selection of email addresses to this new way is a terrible designer and, at the very least, should be reprimanded.  AND, I hate the way these severe changes are always made to the email access without any warning or instructions on what the changes have been or how to use them.   Please provide a more user-friendly environment.

I have to agree with most of the opinions mentioned here. The new email format is absolutely more cumbersome to use, not very practical, and doesn't perform as well as the old version. It also looks ugly and confusing.  All the teeny-tiny window areas in which to view anything is horrible. I tried changing my Settings in my Mail area, however, after half an hour on three  separate occasions, of trying to 'SAVE' my settings, I gave up. I cannot change my email settings to a "Classic View". Just doesn't work.
My husband and I were thinking of going FIOS but after viewing and trying to use this new email design, we are having second thoughts.  Optonline is looking pretty good and we will be checking them out instead.  Too bad, we've been with Verizon a long time. I guess some think these new changes were an improvement. Not me!

  • Is anyone else having trouble with linking between Xfinity Comcast email and the new iOS7 on iPhone 4s ?

I downloaded the new iOS7 update for my iPad and iPhone 4s today.  Everything works fine on both devices EXCEPT I get my Comcast emails but when I attempt to reply and send I get a message telling me it is not the correct STMP address/password.
I called Apple Support, they tried a number of things with me then suggested I call Comcast. Comcast charged me $49.95 to get tech support only to be told in 3 minutes or less: " sorry, it seems Comcast Xfinity and iOS7 upgrade are not communicating on iPhones.
They then told me to download the Xfinity mobile app and utilize my emails from there.
    Totally inconvenient !
Is it an Apple fix or Comcast ?
    Thanks
    Jo

  • Can I use a current Comcast email for a new account?

My parents have been Comcast customers for years and because of that I currently have a Comcast email address. However, I am moving out and am setting up my own account but I would really like to use the address I already have. I've been using it for years and would really like to keep it seeing as I am remaining a Comcast customer. Is there I way to transfer the email from my parents account to my own so i don't have to create an entirely new email address when I register my account? Thank you!

  • Transferring old email from old comcast account to new email with new comcast account

i moved and was told that i needed to go online to associate my emails from my old comcast account to my new comcast account. how do i do this?  i was told i had 90 days to keep my current email addresses

It sounds like you were given some bad information.  What happens when you cancel service at an address is that the User ID/email address is suspended for 90 days.  After that it is released back into the pool of available IDs for any other customer who wants it.  You should have set up a transfer of the old ID to the new service address before you moved.  However, you can call Comcast security and see if they can retrieve the ID and the emails for you------------------------------

  • How to automatically forward emails sent to my old Comcast to my new Verizon email?

This MUST be posted somewhere but for the life of me, I can't find it.  How do I have emails that are sent to my Comcast email automatically forward to my Verizon email?  Also I believe the sender would then be notified that the address has changed?...  Thanks:  Ed

I believe you can set this up through Trueswitch. Verizon has partnered with them to offer this service for free to their customers.
***Important Note: The forwarding will only work as long as your Comcast email address is still active. - Once Comcast closes your email account, Trueswitch can no longer forward the mail.

  • Since 3.6.25 installed I have check marks next to all comcast emails that don't appear in IE.

3.6.25 was just installed today. When I opened up my Comcast email account (webmail) in Firefox, every email had a check mark in front of it. When I open the account in IE8 there are no check marks. And I don't seem to be able to sign out when in Firefox.

    Hi donthee-
First of all, you are using a really old outdated version of Firefox. You are on version 3.6 and the current version is 10. I would highly recommend upgrading to the latest version here:
