New date parameters in 4.1

So I'm trying to use a DATE PICKER item in MM/DD/YYYY format. I'm trying to use the included minimum and maximum dates, but my application keeps throwing an error every time I try to use something there. I'm trying to use -10y for the minimum and -1d for maximum. No matter what I seem to try, I keep getting the error.
ORA-01403: no data foundIt doesn't seem to matter whether the date is valid or not. The error always gets thrown. As soon as I remove the minimum and maximum parameters on the date, the error goes away.
Can someone please explain to me what is going on here?

Nevermind. Unrelated issue.

    Database is on E: drive with 660GB space total, database is ~220GB.
    All cubes are unlimited
    Tried restoring from backup same problem.
    Over years and years the database is never recalculated, never exported and imported, never verified. Only new data loaded and dense restructured.
    Towards the end of a dense restructure (about 89 pan files through about 101 2GB pag files), getting an error: Error(1070020) Out of disk space. Cannot create a new [Data] file.
    There are still several hundred GB of free space available, and we can write to this free space outside of the essbase application within windows.
    The server's file system is consistent, defragmented, and can prove use of additional space. Hard drive controller and system does not report any "hardware issues".

    we didn't allow dense restructure on the cubes size>30 GB
    As an altrnative, we will export the level0 data, clear the DB, and load the new data. After that aggregate the cube to store the data at all the consolidation levels.

    There are three new Data Loader resources available to customers and partners.
    •     Command Line Basics for Oracle Data Loader On Demand (for Windows) - This two-page guide (PDF) shows command line functions specifc to Data Loader.
    •     Writing a Properties File to Import Accounts - This 6-minute Webinar shows you how to write a properties file to import accounts using the Data Loader client. •     Writing a Batch File to Schedule a Contact Import - This 7-minute Webinar shows you how to write a batch file to schedule a contact import using the Data Loader client. You'll also learn how to reference the properties file.
    You can find these on the Data Import Resources page, on the Training and Support Center.
    •     Click the Learn More tab> Popular Resources> What's New> Data Import Resources

    Unfortunately, I don't believe that approach will work.
    We use a similar mechanism for some loads (using the bulk loader instead of web services) for the objects that have a large qty of daily records).
    There is a technique (though messy) that works fine. Since Oracle does not allow the "queueing up" of objects of the same type (you have to wait for "account" to finish before you load the next "account" file), you can monitor the .LOG file to get the SBL 0363 error (which means you can submit another file yet (typically meaning one already exists).
    By monitoring for this error code in the log, you can sleep your process, then try again in a preset amount of time.
    We use this allow for an UPDATE, followed by an INSERT on the account... and then a similar technique so "dependent" objects have to wait for the prime object to finish processing.
    PS... Normal windows .BAT scripts aren't sophisticated enough to handle this. I would recommend either Windows POWERSHELL or C/Korn/Borne shell scripts in Unix.
    I hope that helps some.

  • Defaulting Date Parameters

    Post Author: tegage
    CA Forum: Formula
    I have many reports that allow the user to specifiy a starting and ending date range.  I would like the reports to default to all dates.  I can do this by defaulting the start date to "01-01-2000" and the end date to "12-31-2099", but then the calendar tool is useless since there is no TODAY button on the calendar tool and it picks up the default date, i.e., the users will have to do a lot of scrolling through the calendar tool.
    The other way is to make the starting and ending date parameters strings and use values like Today, This Week, This Month,....  and reolve them in the record selection formula.   This would be nice, but then if the user wants a specific date range, they don't have the calendar tool to use.
    Is there a way to take advange of the user-friendliness of string values and still have the calendar tool to use?

    Post Author: tegage
    CA Forum: Formula
    Thanks much for the response.
    I had done exactly what you described - I had a string parameter for Today, This Week, etc and a set of date parameters - Starting and Ending Date.  But, in order to use the Starting and Ending dates in a formula, I had to provide them a default value - leaving them blank causes the record selection formula to explode.  The issue here is that the calendar tool picks up the default value instead of showing today's date.
    I did more web surfing and found the answer on the Business Objects web site.  The solution let me do what you suggested AND keep the Starting and Ending date parameters as Date types and defaulted to blank by making them optional parameters.
    From the Business Objects web site (why isn't this stuff in the user's guide?):
    2.  Control over default values.
    3.  Request for an 'ALL' value.
    Both of requirements 2 and 3 are met with the new optional parameter feature of CR 2008.  When a parameter is flagged as 'optional', the report can execute without that value being set.  The trick here is that any formula that attempts to reference an optional parameters that doesn't have a value set will return an error.  So we've introduced the new HasValue() function which allows you to check and see if the parameter has a value.
    This is really powerful, because now you can reference your parameters indirectly through another formula (or custom function) that checks if the parameter has a value or not.  If it does, then the formula returns the parameter value.  If it doesn't, then it can return whatever default value you wish.  So if you want the default to be the day before, or last Friday, then you can code that logic into your formula that uses HasValue to check if the parameter has a value set or not.
    Optional parameters were also intended to solve the 'All' problem.  Basically, you want a parameter to participate in a record selection formula only if it has a value.  If it doesn't, then you want that filter to be disabled.  By using optional parameters and HasValue() in your record selection (and new saved data section) formulas, you can include conditions in your filter only if the parameters in those conditions have a value.

  • Pass date parameters to dataprocessor in Java

    Hello I have created java class to execute data templates, but I have problem when I pass date parameters as it was from application dataprocessor fails without any error message and does not return any data (except output xml file header). How to pass date parameters correctly?
    import java.sql.*;
    import oracle.apps.xdo.dataengine.DataProcessor;
    import com.sun.java.util.collections.Hashtable;
    class oraConn
    public static void main (String args []) throws SQLException
    System.out.println("Start");
    try {
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    java.util.Properties ora_property = new java.util.Properties();
    Connection conn =
    DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:user/pass@host:port:sid");
    try {
    DataProcessor dataProcessor = new DataProcessor();
    dataProcessor.setDataTemplate("/home/user/definition.xml");
    Hashtable parameters = new Hashtable();
    parameters.put("c_period_start_date","2009/01/01 00:00:00");
    parameters.put("c_period_end_date","2009/12/31 00:00:00");
    parameters.put("c_employed_before_date","");
    parameters.put("c_org_hierarchy","63");
    dataProcessor.setParameters(parameters);
    dataProcessor.setConnection(conn);
    dataProcessor.setOutput("/home/user/Out.xml");
    dataProcessor.processData();
    } catch (Exception e)
    {System.out.println ("Data procesor Fail.");}
    } catch (SQLException ex) {
    System.out.println ("\n*** SQLException caught ***\n");
    while (ex != null) {
    System.out.println ("SQLState: " + ex.getSQLState ());
    System.out.println ("Message: " + ex.getMessage ());
    System.out.println ("Vendor: " + ex.getErrorCode ());
    ex.printStackTrace();
    ex = ex.getNextException ();
    System.out.println ("");
    }}}}

    Found out solution to my problem. I needed to import date not as string but as Date type.

  • BAM : Date parameters

    Hi , We have a report level paramters : start date and end date.
    These two parameters we would like to default to sysdate-1 and sysdate.
    start date should default to sysdate-1
    end date should default to sysdate
    How do we achieve this ?
    Thanks,
    Satish

    Thanks for your reply, but it didn't satisfy my requirement.
    Here is the detail requirement.
    1. I have 4 views on a single dashboard
    2. I have two date parameters (Start Date and End Date) (dashboard level) . Once I select these dates , it will refresh all the 4 views that are there on the dashboard.
    3. To implement point 2 above , I added filters to all the 4 views pointing to the report level parameters(Report Start time and End time).
    4. Now I want these two report level parameters to be defaulted to sysdate and sysdate -1 so that first time when dashboard opens, it apply these default conditions. after the report opens, User should be able enter his own date range and it needs to reflect in the report.
    Please suggest how to implement the above.
    In addition to above , How would I build filters with (all OR conditions, AND and OR conditions) ? Whats the use of (add new header) in the filters tab ? Is this helps in building AND OR conditions in the report ?
    Thanks,
    Satish

  • Calculate difference in value based on two date parameters

    Hi All,
    I have a table and need to calculate the difference in rent amount for a property based on two date parameters.
    I have uploaded sample data here:
    https://app.box.com/s/pu8oa4f3jhrhm0ylshdz2fuo7541vn4z
    Thanks
    Jag

    Hi jaggy99,
    Do you have the knowledge of
    Excel Add-In? If you don't have knowledge of C#/VB.NET language and Visual Studio, I don't think Excel Add-In is what you want. As I said previously, your problem is totally about the business logic, we don't provide solution for a complete requirement.
    Based on your sample data, I think VBA code is suitable.
    If you're not familiar with VBA, please take a look at the MSDN documents for scratch:
    Getting Started with VBA in Excel 2010
    The steps should be like this:
    1. Sort all the records by [Rent Change Date] field
    2. Loop throuth the records and find the FromDate and ToDate as well as the corresponding [Rent Charged] field
    3. Calculate the difference and save the data into a new range
    It's not so hard, please have a try, if you encounter any development problems, you can post in this forum.
    Thanks.

    In fact if these ( start date and end date)parameters are made null i need to display all the values in the report irrespective of the date parameters
    Any help much appreciated

  • Can't we add new dates automatically via MDIS- unmapped values- ADD

    Hi,
    I have a qualified table with non qualifier as Date(TYPE: Literal Date).
    and Qualifiers as Valid from and valid to.
    We have 4 dates currently in Date field.
    Our incoming file will have New dates init, So want these new dates to be added automaticaly via Import map.
    I have set the Date field property as MDIS unmapped fields as - ADD.
    But it is not adding new dates.
    When i have Date field with Type TEXT and not 'Literal Date'  then the new dates from Incoming file are added automatically.
    Is this Normal that MDIS unmapped value - ADD will not add date Type fields???
    Please Help
    KR
    John

    Hi,
    the incoming date format is MM/DD/YYYY.
    In configutration parameters it is mentioned as MM/DD/YYYY format.
    If the incoming file has Existing dates in MDM then it updates Fine.
    But if the Incoming file has a new date then it failes with value exception..
    'error message : Type mismatch. Invalid field values.<LF/></Trace>
    cant understand this behaviuor of Literal date Field...
    Can anyone please help...

  • Set date Parameters to Default to Current Quarter

    I have 2 date parameters in my report. I would like these parameters to be defaulted to the 1st day of the current quarter and the last day of the current quarter. I need these to be dafaulted because the report is going to be scheduled through BusinessObjects InfoView. I need the flexabilty to allow users to run the report on any date they want, but it needs to default so the scheduling works as expected. Can this be done and if so any assistance would be grateful. Thank you.

    Thomas,
    although you can't set a prompt / parameter to default like this, you can set a record selection to do this...here's how...
    1) in your StartDate and your EndDate parameters set a default value of 1888,08,08
    2) create a new formula called Start with syntax like
    if {?startdate} = date(1888,08,08)
    then
    if month(currentdate) in [1,2,3] then date(year(currentdate),01,01) else
    if month(currentdate) in [4,5,6] then date(year(currentdate),04,01) else
    if month(currentdate) in [7,8,9] then date(year(currentdate),07,01) else
    if month(currentdate) in [10,11,12] then date(year(currentdate),10,01)
    else {?startdate};
    3) create a new formula called End with syntax like
    if {?enddate} = date(1888,08,08)
    then
    if month(currentdate) in [1,2,3] then date(year(currentdate),03,31) else
    if month(currentdate) in [4,5,6] then date(year(currentdate),06,30) else
    if month(currentdate) in [7,8,9] then date(year(currentdate),09,30) else
    if month(currentdate) in [10,11,12] then date(year(currentdate),12,31)
    else {?enddate};
    4) change your record selection formula to something like
    {table.datefield} in {@start} to {@end}
    now if the end user doesn't actually put in custom dates, the record filter will default to the current quarter. if they use custom dates, the those dates will be used.
    of course you will have to edit the above syntax to your parameter names and datefield name. this method will also pass the filter to the database to increase performance.
    cheers,

  • Adding New Data To Same Page - HELP

    I am trying to put together a invoice on the fly, the products are added to the invoice by selecting the disired product from a drop down menu and hitting the add button. You SHOULD then be able to select more products from the same drop down menu and htting add again will include it in the invoice.... simple?? Well the problem i have is that when i hit the add button to add another item it just replaces the one i have already added.... this is very annoying... i cannot think of a way to take the product data through the form submission ready for adding too.
    Any Ideas this is really bugging me, and the more time i spend on it, the worse its getting. Code Below

  • 'Get All New Data Request by Request' option not working Between DSO n Cube

    Hi BI's..
             Could anyone please tell me why the option ' Get one Request only' and  'Get All New Data Request by Request' is not working in DTP between Standard DSO and InfoCube.
    Scenario:
    I have done the data load by Yearwise say FY 2000 to FY 2009 in Infopackage and load it to Write-optimised DSO (10 requests) and again load Request by request to Standard DSO and activate each request. I have selected the option in DTP's to  'Get All New Data Request by Request' and its working fine between WDSO and SDSO. But not working between Cube and SDSO. While Execute DTP its taking as a single request from SDSO to Cube.( 10 request to single request).
    Regards,
    Sari.

    Hi,
    How does your DTP setting looks like from below options ? It should be change log, assuming you are not deleting change log data.
    Delta Init. Extraction from...
    - Active Table (with archive)
    - Active Table (without archive)
    - Archive ( full extraction only)
    - Change Log
    Also if you want to enable deltas, please do not delete change log. That could create issue while further update from DSO.
    Hope that helps.
    Regards
    Mr Kapadia

  • Data in New Data in ODS

    Hello,
    I am trying to load data from r/3 into the ODS.
    When i check in the monitor its saying that
    07:37:12 ( 549741 from 549741 Records )
    But its not turning green.Its still yellow.
    I checked the new data in the ODS. The number of entries in it is 0.

    Hi
    You can view the data in ODS only after the status is green.
    Check if it is showing any error in the description.
    If not then wait for some time. we can't do anything as is it showing yellow(in process) status

  • Refresh jTable after inserting new data into the Database

    Hey all,
    I'm using Netbeans 6.5 to create a Desktop Application which is connected to a Java DB (Derby).
    The first simple steps were all very successfull:
    Create the jTable and bind it to the Database => everything works fine. When the application starts it correctly shows all data from the database.
    The problem starts when I try to insert new data to the database.
    For that reason I've created textfields and a button "Save". When I press the button it successfully inserts the data to the database but they are not displayed in the jTable (when the application starts they are all there, they are not updated at runtime) . I've tried table.invalidate() and table.repaint() but they just don't work.
    Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. But please have in mind that most of the code is Netbeans-generated and most of it not editable.
    Many thanks in advance.
    George

    Once again you are right my friend. I jumped to conclusion way too fast, when I shouldn't. (Give me a break, I've been busting my head with this well over a week). The response I saw when I did that was that indeed a line is added to the jTable. Because I falsly set the index of the object to be added to be second to last the row appeared on the table, what I didn't see at the time was that the last one disappeared. Hmm...
    A new adventure begins...
    So after a few hours of messing around with it here are my observations:
    1) It was not an observable list. When I add the new element with employeesList.add(newEmp); , the table gets notified but a get a bunch of exceptions:

    ... and a lot morewhich from my poor understanding means that the jTable succesfully notices the change but it is not able (??) to adjust to the new change. What is more interesting is that when I plainly add the element to the end of the list (without an idex that is), a blank row appears at the end of my Table. The weird thing is that I've bound the table to some text fields below it, and when I select that empty row all the data appear correctly to the text fields.
    I tried going through:
                    org.jdesktop.observablecollections.ObservableCollections.observableList(employeesList).add(newEmp);as well as
                    help = org.jdesktop.observablecollections.ObservableCollections.observableListHelper(employeesList);
                    help.getObservableList().add(newEmp);
                    help.fireElementChanged(employeesList.lastIndexOf(newEmp));and
                    obsemployeesList = org.jdesktop.observablecollections.ObservableCollections.observableList(employeesList);
                    obsemployeesList.add(newEmp);and I still get the same results (both the exeptions and the mysterious empty row at the end of the table
    So, I'm again in terrible need of your advice. I can't thank you enough for the effort you put into this.
    Best regards,
    George
