New email window automatically moves to center of screen

When I create a new email in Apple Mail the new email window moves to the center of my screen. I want it to stay in the upper left whenre the window for the program is located, but it always opens inthe center and is very annoying.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Hi SDN,
There are about 15 webdynpro applications in our project. The requirement is to have Contact Us link on top of all the application. On click of it, new email window has to open with the appropriate subject in it depending upon the application from which it is clicked.

1)Add the UI element linktoURL in all your applications views and set the reference property of the linktourl to
mailto:testing @ abc.com?subject=testing this url can be set dynamically using context attribute. Remove the space in the mail address. OR
2)Add a html above the WD iview in the pages.

It will open new mail window of your default mail client with subject and email on it.

Is it possible to have NEW emails print automatically?

We operate a small restaurant and are setting up an online order form. If possible, we would like the new email orders to print automatically so the kitchen can hear a new order coming in, and then simply grab the paper for the order WITHOUT having to mess around with the computer. Is it possible to make a folder or "something" that will print all new arrivals?
Any help is appreciated!

Opening new email window when email link is clicked

Hi,
I have a requirement where there will be a email id displayed on view.
This email id should have a hyperlink and click on which, should open a new mail window of MS Outlook with the same email id in 'TO' section.
Any idea how to achieve this?

This can be achieved using a LinkToUrl UI element in the view.
Open the properties of the LinkToUrl UI element. In the Text field, provide the email id that you will like to show on the screen.. say abc[AtTheRate]domain.com. If the email id is fetched at runtime, you can bind this to a context attribute as well. The context attribute will then hold the value like abc[AtTheRate]domain.com.
Then in the Reference field, we need to provide the string prefixing a "mailto:" to the email id. For example :
mailto:abc[AtTheRate]domail.com
If the value changes at runtime, then map the Reference field to a context attribute. This context attribute should contain a string like - mailto:abc[AtTheRate]domail.com
At runtime, when you click on the link... outlook compose mail window will be launched with abc[AtTheRate]domain.com in the To Address Field.
Make sure that Outlook is the default Mail Exchange Tool in the system.

New email window goes to the back

Hey all,
Need some help with my iMac OSX 10.7
Whenever I compose a new email or reply to an email the window which opens will show very briefly then send itself to the back and whatever I had opened previously, normally a word doucment, will appear to be at the front and I will be typing on that.
Anyone come across this or got some ideas to try?

Open new/blank window automatically

Hi, I nedd to open a popup window with an external url when my animation arrives to a certain state an plays a certain transition, automatically. I know that is possible "On ApplicationStart" but I don't know how to do it on any other state... help please....

Flash Catalyst doesn't have a built in timer. You could create a blank video file the same length as you need, play it and have that trigger the new window. Or you could bring your project into Flash Builder and add the timer there. You will need to have some ActionScript knowledge for the last solution. The video trick is mentioned somewhere in the forums.

Open Outlook New Email window from WebDynpro

Hi All,
Is there a way to open an outlook window from webdynpro apart from using <Mailto:> URLs.
The Mailto URLs doesn't hold good for our requirement as it has URL Length limitation (2083 characters).
OLE seems to be not working with Webdynpro. It requires SAP GUI.
So please let me know if there is any other way. It is an urgent requirement and any help in this regard is highly helpful.

Why do you have problems with the 2083 character limitation of URL names?
The following URL has a length of 278 characters:

If you want to send long mails with subject and body and so on an alternative may be for you not directly to start outlook, but giving the user a form where he can edit a long email and if he/she presses the send button, this email goes through the SAP WebAS ABAP to the Mail Server of the company. The so-called SMTP-Plug-In in SAP WebAS ABAP enables you to send (and receive) mails from an SAP ABAP system to the company's email server and vice versa.
May this be a solution for your problem?

I use Go Daddy web based email....when I try to Compose a new email firefox automatically opens the upload page as if I am going to add a attachment. I have to close the pop up to write an email.....each time! Help?

open Firefox
open web based email
choose compose
email/compose window opens
followed immediately by upload file window as a pop up
I can close it and continue with email but this is not very convenient.

Sorry I have no solution but this happened to me after Hulu told me to clear my browser cache (history) to be able to watch a video that stopped abruptly (Hulu lied; you rarely need to clear the cache.)

Wow, I've never seen that flying window animation before. I assume you do not have a multi-monitor setup so there's no reason for the Firefox window to be off-screen to the right.
Can you tell from the Task Bar tile/button whether Firefox is the active application? If so, could you try the trick described in this thread and see whether it works for you: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/941896 When I go to open firefox it shows up on my tool bar but not on my screen where is it?]

How can I make QT open movies in center of screen?

I have a 32 inch monitor. When I double click a quicktime movie file, it always opens in the far upper left corner of my screen. Difficult and awkward for viewing. I then have to drag it to the center where it is easier to view. There must be a way to make QT stop defaulting to the upper left, and instead open in the center of the screen. No? Any help, please. Wouldn't it be a useful option in tools->options->tabs to open new tabs at end? That way people can easily choose whatever their working preference is - mine is "at end" as it keep the tabs I'm going to get around to away from the ones I'm working on right now.
A check-box would be much simpler for the general user than hitting the "here there be dragons" area with all the potential pitfalls that lurk there.

New Applications folder window opens always half outside the screen

As in the subject, only the first time after a log-in or finder restarting, when i press shiftA to open a new window of applications folder, it opens always in the same ugly position, i.e., on my right side of the desktop, half out of it, half inside. This happens only with this folder. If after restarting finder, restarting the mac, log-out log-in, I press +N to open a new window, it opens correctly on the center of the screen. If I try to grab the new applications window either in the center of the screen or in whatever position I want, next log-in, reboot, etc... it opens in the ugly position as I mentioned.
I tried deleting .Ds_Store file in it, deleting com.apple.finder.plist, repairing permissions (both in leopard and by using the installation dvd), clearing caches, executing maintainance tasks, searching google, asking in it.comp.macintosh, praise the lord, but nothing. Now I'm going crazy, so I need to solve this.
Ps: Maybe this problem start when I installed magnifique. It's an applications that let you change leopard themes (since shapeshifter works only on 10.4). I uninstalled after two days, being shure to delete its preference files and any other stuff that could have been reconducted to it, but the problem is still there. I tried creating a new user and the problem still exists.

Hm, I guess that makes sense - the idea is to save power; but the process of trying to transfer control between display interfaces on the fly would have to be somewhat perilous. This (hot swap of display interfaces) is just not the kind of thing that would normally be expected by software designers.
Are the two display subsystems made by nVidia? If not, I'd imagine it to be a practically impossible task to get right. GPU makers aren't normally friendly with one another!
It makes sense that a manual switch to the more powerful GPU would be needed to run Photoshop properly, as complex as it is.

New email question...

Just got the curve 8330. whenever i receive a new email it automatically shows me when i unlock the phone. this is ok but after i delete the message it takes me to the message box rather than the "desktop" or home screen. Is there a setting for this? I had the pearl and if i remember after i read the new message and deleted it it would close that particular email address box (I have 3 different emails and 3 email icons for them) instead of taking me to the general message box. Any advice would help. Thanks

New email from and app - POSSIBLE?

I'm wondering if there's a Service or AppleScript anyone is aware of that will behave the same as Cmd-Shift-I (to email a selection) but once activated would: switch to Mail (from any app) and bring up a new email window. Possible? Any advise would be awesome! Thanks...

Outlook 2010 new emails in secondary inbos

Hi everyone,
hope this is in the right category. I apologize if not.
Using Outlook 2010, I have the primary account setup and everything working properly.
Ive added a secondary account for emails that come to a different address.
When new email arrives, usually on the main outlook screen I will get a notification of a new message
ex: -inbox (1)
recently ive noticed that new emails coming to a secondary email account inbox, do not show the notification unless I have that secondary inbox selected.
In other words, If I currently have the primary email inbox selected, I do not get any notification if a new email comes to the secondary email inbox.
Would anyone happen to have any solution to this? I believe the secondary is a gmail account, if that makes any difference.

Based on the description, you've configured two accounts in Outlook 2010 and the for the Gmail account, it doesn't play a Desktop Alert when the account is not selected. Is my understanding correct?
As ahuibers mentioned it's by design, while it can be resolved easily by creating a rule, which applies on messages you receive, with the condition "through the specified account" and the action "display a Desktop Alert", make the Gmail
account the specified account and it will always display a Desktop Alert no matter the account is selected or not.
